Daniel Craig Gets Rugged in Russia

Well spotted, she did indeed wear that ring on the right hand on/off then it appeared after Xmas 2006 on the left.

I think maybe he regrets such a high profile CR circuit now as the intrusion into his personal life is extreme.
I agree, they both brought it on themselves to a degree but now they are backpedalling a little.
It seems he mentioned her a little in interviews a bit more last time, now, even less than that.

She’s rarely mentioned now for the QOS interviews and if she is it’s as “his girlfriend”.
To 158… I wouldn’t go that far in that assumption. But he’s obviously loves/respects her and wanted to let everyone know. But he was now Bond and the press was hungry for any tibit about him and his personal life.

Right off the top of my head I don’t really remember Daniel ever referring to Sats (when he did) as his fiancee. I’ll need to do a google search. But really the press might have just assumed when the ring showed up on her left hand.
Anyhoo, it’s “his girlfriend” now - and that been in recent interviews. But you can still be a girlfriend and a financee… ;)

i dont think in Satsuki’s world, gf is the same as fiancee…if i was engaged to him, i’d make sure everyone knew..lol…maybe thats why she looks grumpy.

come to think of it, i’ve never read in any interview that daniel has called satsuki his fiance either. you think may the press jumped the gun. about the ring on her left hand, i could be wrong but in england i always thought the engagement ring is worn on the right hand.

Interesting insight on the character by Marc:
‘It was very intense,’ he said of the situation. ‘It wasn’t so much that the release date was set and that I had very little time in post-production. The main thing was there was no script in place when we started [filming]. That was the key issue.’
‘There was not really a story that I felt 100% confident and good about. When there was the writers’ strike, I knew that by April, we would run out of story. In February, I brought in another writer, Josh Zetumer, to do a few polishes, rewrites and ideas between Danny, me and him.’
The eventual screenwriting credits ended up going to Haggis, Purvis and Wade for the film.
The next challenge for Forster was no simple task either: how to follow up one of the most financially and critically successful Bond films of all time?
‘So many people loved [Casino Royale]. To live up to that in Quantum Of Solace and to be up to par with that is another added pressure.’
In approaching this challenge, Forster focused on the character of Bond and worked with Craig to develop this in the final performance. ‘The character has this hard shell outside but still ultimately has this vulnerability,’ Forster says. ‘There is this isolation and this pain.’
‘But one of the successes of Bond is his mystery,’ the director is quick to add. ‘You don’t want to have Bond explain himself emotionally or analyse [himself] too much. So I created Camille [portrayed by Olga Kurylenko] as one of the Bond girls, who is a mirror image of him. She’s an assassin and has a revenge motive.’
Finally, Forster had to come to terms with was the incorporation of product placement in the James Bond films. He states: ‘It was at the beginning a little tricky, but what I said was I was not willing to shoot a shot that was featuring a product just for the purpose of featuring the product unless it happens to be part of the story. I feel this has been overdone in the past and it takes you out of the movie.’
After a grueling production schedule and endless hours of editing, it appears that he’s met his goal with Quantum of Solace: ‘I feel very positive because I love the movie. I feel the movie really works.’
Before concluding the interview, however, the topic of Bond 23 came up, despite his earlier statements that he’s not planning on returning. ‘No, it’s something Barbara and Michael asked me about but I’m not really interested … but never say never!’
To 165: I googled engagement rings and found that in some countries it is on the right hand. But not in most Western countries such as UK and the US. But it is custom for a bride to remove her engagement ring and place it on her right hand before the ceremony - then the third finger is bare for the wedding band to be placed (which should always be on the bottom - closer to the heart). Then she can put the engagement ring (if she choses to) on top of the wedding band.

You have been in a long term relationship with film producer Satsuki Mitchell. Is marriage on the cards?
Yes, our relationship has been going on for a long time. I like her company very much. She is very talented and intelligent. She helps me at various stages of my films. We both tune well. Though one never knows, I don’t think marriage will happen soon.

she sounds more like a loved companion rather than wife material to him.

To 171: It’s the Indian press - he might not think that it would be widely discussed outside of Bollywood you might say. Sort of like the big Hollywood stars doing commercials in Japan because they’ll will not be readily seen in the US.

personally i dont think they are even engaged but if he so staunch against saying they arent engaged why say anything about marriage at all?
