Blake Lively & Penn Badgley: Vote Obama!
McCainFreeWhiteHouse.org is a new site that has been launched encouraging young people to warn their parents about John McCain and to persuade them to vote for Barack Obama.
The site just posted a video featuring Gossip Girl stars (and real-life couple) Blake Lively and Penn Badgley. And I’m pretty sure that’s American Teen’s Hannah Bailey! Anybody recognize anyone else? Watch the vid below! The narration goes:
Talk to your parents about John McCain.
For my sake? Please?
Vote for Barack Obama.

Jane, Thanks for clarifying that, and I apologize for misinterpetting your intent in posting that list. I am all for celebrities saying “VOTE!”, however, I disagree with them trying to influence others to vote their way. There are alot of impressionable people, who will do what they think is “cool”. I would feel the same way if this ad was for McCain.

This is so ridiculous. “Talk to your parents about John McCain. For my sake? Please? Vote for Barack Obama.” How about encouraging young people to learn the issues and make an informed decision based on their own beliefs instead of pressuring them to vote for the person you want.
I like both Blake and Penn but think that celebrities trying to push their political views on anyone else is completely ridiculous. I can’t imagine the kind of perosn who would change their vote just to feel like they voted for the “cool” candidate or the one that their favorite star is voting for. Give me a break.

Um, this is not Obama’s experience ( which is very little) vs. Palin’s. She’s not the one running against him. Now, McCain’s experience, passion for his country, and ideas for REAL change are what is impressive to me. He is NOT Bush. He’s ready to take on what’s wrong in Washington, and knows HOW to do it, with his bi-partisan experience. Obama will NEVER be able to work with both parties. EVER.

I’m all for getting the word out to vote and encouraging people to get registered to vote. But it has become very abnoxious the way these celebrities are going about with this whole vote for Obama thing. I feel like it’s all become very suffocating. It’s like this whole campaign has become just another trend in Hollywood and their really not taking it seriously! In their world it’s like well look Matt Damons voting for him so I guess I should to because it’s the cool and “trendy” thing to do! I think they should be more encouraging on getting people educated on the 2 presidental nominees rather and getting them registered to vote rather then shoving a certain politician down your throat all the time. It’s like America knows how you feel so you can stop now! Especially since I personally don’t think majority of America really cares what they have to say in the first place and don’t take in consideration what the celebrities are voting for when their choosing a candiate. I didn’t mean for this to be so long but once I started I couldnt stop! So just decided to stop because I could probably keep going! Ha!
I agree with the comment that this type of celebrity endorsement should be illegal. It is silly and contentious.

These are silly people telling us how to do the most serious task we must ever do. They are crass. In simply endorsing us to vote for their candidate they are assuming that we are as dumb as they are. They assume that we do not actually listen to or read the candidates positions and will actually vote because some dumb celebrity tells them to. Better luck next time, because I will vote how I think and it certainly is not on your celebrity terms.

I also beleive Obama is actually much more intelligent than Mccain. Mccain admits that he graduated 5th from the BOTTOM of his class. Just because Mccain was a prisoner of war, it doesn’t mean that he’s qualified to lead a country. Obama is very well educated, and has family values. Mccain is too out of reach for today’s society and quite frankly, Sarah Palin is an idiot.

ok first of all these “celebrities” are entitiled to their vote just as much as any of you are. so if they want to say they are for obama and want others to vote for him then thats smart becuase even though some of you beleive that these celebrites are nobodys, people actually do listen to them. whether you believe its fair or not is besides the point. if you dont like what they say then dont listen to them, you know you people who put negative things on here about them arent very american like and its just rude! you dont here them saying this kind of stuff about you, so why would you say these kinds of things about them. this reminds me of the debate tonight, when mccain kept making smug remarks to obama. at least obama has charisma and composure unlike others. i guess we can tell what kind of people vote for mccain and what kind vote for oboma. now if you dont like what i have to say i suggest you not to make rude comments about it, because it will not get you anywhere. it will just make you look rude. but i think some of you already did a pretty good job of that!
