Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama takes the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone. Here are some of the interview’s highlights:
Tell me your reaction when you first heard that he had picked Sarah Palin as his running mate. I didn’t know her, so it was a surprise decision. Look, you have to give them credit: It obviously energized the conservative wing of the party. And that’s worth something in politics.
Weren’t you shocked, at least a little, by the choice of someone with no real experience on the national stage? As I said, we didn’t know her, so we were surprised. It wasn’t anticipated.
Looking back over the past eight years, what’s the thing that Bush screwed up the worst? I think Iraq has to rank number one. Although the economy and his failure, utterly, to anticipate the dangers of such a highly leveraged Wall Street, combined with such a highly leveraged federal government, combined with such highly leveraged consumers, at a time when we knew that baby boomers are about to retire and we need to start storing the acorns for the winter — it’s breathtaking. The level of irresponsibility that’s taken place over the last eight years is breathtaking.

For all the people voting for Obama just know that you are also voting for.
1. abortion to be legal : Obama claims that every woman has the right to choose.. true in that sense.. but it’s no longer a choice of just ONE person when there is a living thing inside of you that deserves the chance to live, yet he’s going to allow teenage girls to get abortions even those that aren’t even old enough to drive.
2. Increasing tax plans.. as John McCain said why would you want to raise taxes for ANYONE? && Why would anyone in America WANT to pay for higher taxes? I mean if you want to give your government even more money then go for it..
3. && Obama hasn’t been in the senate nearly as long as McCain has.. He’s all talk right now. I’ll give it to the guy, he’s smooth and a fast talker and all. but that’s all he is. TALK. McCain really is what America is all about… He’s fought long and hard in war and has served for his country almost all his life demonstrating how much he cares for this country .. All the immature people that are making comments on his age and such need to get over it. With age comes wisdom and experience. What do you mean Mccain really is what America is all about? I think they both are what America is all about. Some of you people think only white people have defended this country in war. I think it is an insult to black americans to take their service lightly. we all know if Obama was white it would not be a contest. I did not vote for Barack in the primary but I will vote for him this November. He has a clear cut plan where he want to take the country and I know this country will be in a better place.I just hope he gets a congress to work with him. I do not want to see communist china having troops on our borders trying to Protect their investment in our country because we have borrowed so much money from them. Fact is, everyone wants the our economic woes to disappear. When McCain said he would balance the budget in four years, I laughed. That’s impossible, the damage has been done and we will feel it for years to come. Whomever wins the presidency will likely have to raise taxes, that’s a given. People are so afraid of paying taxes in this country when compared to other countries, we pay little in taxes.
As a public health professional, I have to say that McCain has no idea what he’s talking about and he doesn’t understand how much most people pay. He’s completely out of touch.

At the end of the day we all have to remember that ALL of them are politicians, all of them. They all have made promises that they will not be able to or not even try to keep because they are politicians. Vote for your choice but always hope for the best no matter who wins the election. It saddens me to see so much hate and derogatory statements about all the candidates from both parties and from the general public about the candidates and each other. You seriously hate someone that thinks differently than you or who is running against the person you favor? That’s sad and a great indicator of the world we live in. And the whole “they are only voting for him because he is black” or “your are a racist if you support McCain/Palin” that **** seriously is disgusting and needs to stop. Why can’t we be civilized adults and agree to disagree in this country? Isn’t that what our freedom enables us to do and not “hate” someone because they are different from us. Neither supporters on either side have been innocent of this.

I agree. The Republicans are SO jealous right now. Especially the racist ones. Obama is WAYYY ahead in the polls and even if he wasn’t, he still has tons more electoral votes than John. Okay, so just shut up you stupid f*ckers. John McCain is a condescending *******. He is rude and manipulative. I’d rather have Obama as president, not just because I believe in his politics, but also because he has true character. Election time shows people’s true colors and John McCain is an angry, manipulative douchebag.
McCai’ns tax package is a disaster. I own a small business, and when I looked into McCain’s proposal, I was suprised to learn that I would actually be better off with Obama’s plan. Not just short-term, but long-term; that’s a key element that’s been overlooked in McCain’s plan. As a matter of fact, four years down the road, we’ll be in deep shi_t with McCain.
I’m a Republican, but I have to give kudos to Obama on his positions on the Iraq war. He was right from day one. And he’s right about the Bush policies (and McCain’s) that have gotten us into this mess. Ths is the first time in my life I’ve ever voted Democrat, but Obama’s my pick for this election.

As thou we don’t know that the Jann Wenner owner of US magazine and Rollingstone is a partisan Obama supporter who said he will do everything he can with is magazines to show support for Obama that’s why the hit pieces on Palin and nasty snide comments in Us magazine and this is what Obama 100th time being on the cover of Rollingstone, and he has the gall to comment of over leverage when it was democrats who wouldn’t let the Bush admin. for the last 8 years to de-leverage Frannie and Freddie the two quasi government companies who combined have 5 trillion dollars wroth of mortgagees and half of then in sub prime and how does a President de-leverage or slow down private companies he can’t, that’s why Clinton didn’t do anything with the stock market bubble or the dot.com bubble that grew in the late 90’s and wiped out 3 trillion dollars of assets in 2001, and that’s why European banks who are way more regulated then Americans are in worst shape and more leveraged then American banks. I can’t stand this fool Obama, I feel sorry for American’s if they nominate him, you would never see a person as inexperienced and with his history of friends ever become Prime Minister in Canada, we are not looking for a Hollywood celebrity feel to lead us we leave that to the movies.
