Barack Obama Covers Rolling Stone

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama takes the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone. Here are some of the interview’s highlights:

Tell me your reaction when you first heard that he had picked Sarah Palin as his running mate. I didn’t know her, so it was a surprise decision. Look, you have to give them credit: It obviously energized the conservative wing of the party. And that’s worth something in politics.

Weren’t you shocked, at least a little, by the choice of someone with no real experience on the national stage? As I said, we didn’t know her, so we were surprised. It wasn’t anticipated.

Looking back over the past eight years, what’s the thing that Bush screwed up the worst? I think Iraq has to rank number one. Although the economy and his failure, utterly, to anticipate the dangers of such a highly leveraged Wall Street, combined with such a highly leveraged federal government, combined with such highly leveraged consumers, at a time when we knew that baby boomers are about to retire and we need to start storing the acorns for the winter — it’s breathtaking. The level of irresponsibility that’s taken place over the last eight years is breathtaking.

groundcontrol @ 10/16/2008 at 12:15 am

I can’t believe he used the term acorn. Is this his way of trying to make the word seem less, oh, let’s see, less criminal?

I am getting increasingly furious about Obama campaigning and helping to fund Odinga’s rise to power. This is the kind of naivete and ignorance about foreign affairs that scares me about Obama. Unless, of course, Obama actually knowingly supports ethnic cleansing. Then it wouldn’t be ignorant, it would be much worse.

And anyone who doesn’t yet understand that it is the United States Senate that in the end controls who gets on the Supreme Court gets sent back to remedial civics class. A simple majority keeps off an unacceptable nominee. Period.

Obama/Biden. @ 10/16/2008 at 12:26 am

Time for change people. vote Obama Biden 2008.

Three-Time Debate Winner….

This photo is funny after all the hullabaloo from Palin’s ignorant Fox supporters who complained about her unbrushed “Newsweek” photo!

Looking forward to November 5 and having the 20th and 19th Century mentality of McCain and Palin out of the daily news. Bye, bye madman McCain and ignorant, race-baiter Palin!

Obama/Biden. @ 10/16/2008 at 12:29 am

Obama has NO experience.

Bush did and look what’s happening to our country. Time for change.. VOTE OBAMA BIDEN 2008.

Obama/Biden. @ 10/16/2008 at 12:30 am

OBAMA/BIDEN 2008.

Poor Mccain , so desperate at the debate, angry,” I’m not George Bush” ahhahaha we all know my dear but you two stand for the same crap.

Obama so intelligent and classy, love him, he is the new Kennedy

Obama/Biden. @ 10/16/2008 at 12:37 am

MCcain is NO BUSH!!!!!!!

NO. J

Obama has 0 experience!!!!

ganymede30324 @ 10/16/2008 at 12:38 am

If I were Senator Obama, I’d consider getting a restraining order. That interview crossed the line from the usual media softballs and fawning into stalkerville.

Obama/Biden. @ 10/16/2008 at 12:39 am

MCcain is NO BUSH!!!!!!!

No, just same policy.

Obama has 0 experience!!!!

Sometimes the people with less experience do better jobs than the ones with.

I think it would be wonderful to have an African American
President, but unfortunately this is the wrong African American man.

Experience and achievements are the only way to vote.
There are evil snakes in the world and we need an old dog
who’s been around the block to deal w/the ones that hate us.

McCain/Palin is my vote & I am an Independent.

Obama scares me. There’s no such thing as only 5% people paying taxes. it’s LIES. As Michelle Obama says, “it’s politics”

To everyone saying Palin doesnt have enough experience.

How much experience does Obama have? A scant 4 years in the Senate, two of them running as President. And a few years in the Ilinois Senate. And he’s on the top of the ticket!

McCain/Palin!

What do you mean Mccain really is what America is all about? I think they both are what America is all about. Some of you people think only white people have defended this country in war. I think it is an insult to black americans to take their service lightly. we all know if Obama was white it would not be a contest. I did not vote for Barack in the primary but I will vote for him this November. He has a clear cut plan where he want to take the country and I know this country will be in a better place.I just hope he gets a congress to work with him. I do not want to see communist china having troops on our borders trying to Protect their investment in our country because we have borrowed so much money from them. I guess that is why everything we purchased today comes from china. I still have somethings that were made in American and it is so durable and strong and I would like to see that again. I believe if Obama becomes President we will see that again and the trading policies wil be fair and gas saving cars will be made in this country and by American. As Obama said we invented car making.

Obama has clearly shown us that he is a man that can handle pressure, he has not wavered. McCain, on the other hand, is an angry and condescending man who has no respect for his opponent.

McCain may not be George Bush but he has repeatedly voted for Bush’s policies, that’s on record. When analysts compare McCain’s economic policy to Bush’s, they’re not much different. Fact is, everyone wants the our economic woes to disappear. When McCain said he would balance the budget in four years, I laughed. That’s impossible, the damage has been done and we will feel it for years to come. Whomever wins the presidency will likely have to raise taxes, that’s a given. People are so afraid of paying taxes in this country when compared to other countries, we pay little in taxes.

As a public health professional, I have to say that McCain has no idea what he’s talking about and he doesn’t understand how much most people pay. He’s completely out of touch.

Anyway…McCain is out of touch and he’s a bitter man who knows that he’s about to be beaten. He acts like a desperate man because he is…

OBAMA all the way baby…

And by the way, to all those people out there that STILL try to argue the abortion debate, it’s over and has been for some time. Abortion is a personal choice, just like it’s a personal choice to believe in God. We all have choices and every woman has a right to choose.

Joe Plumber's wife @ 10/16/2008 at 1:06 am

My husband is shocked that Obama wants
to spread our money we worked all our lives. So so hard.
10-12 hrs, sometimes 7 days a week.
So, finally, we reached the American dream & Obama wants
us to give to the ones who didn’t earn it honestly?

America is between NY & Cali.

And by the way…the experience argument doesn’t fly. The Bush Administration had PLENTY of experience and they have completely screwed up this country. I view judgement as more important and Obama has clearly made better choices, especially with regard to choosing Biden as a running mate. Palin is a disaster and has absolutely nothing important to say and this shows that McCain lacks judgement. He has also decided to personally attack OBama on every occasion possible, rather than taking the high road and discussing the important issues. But apparently, some people on here actually listen to that sort of crap and don’t think for themselves.

nesserzz.. @ 10/16/2008 at 1:13 am

really ugly photo.
Although im for Obama for 08, i think McCain is going to win. He has bush rooting for him all the way. If Bush was able to steal some votes from Flordia what makes Obama any different. Bush will probably just help him steal votes too.. tsk tsk tsk.

I do know what I’m voting for. A man with good choices who i think can change the bad to good in America.
1. Abortion should be Legal. Women faught for that right a long time. That is a close subject. It shouldn’t be anything about this election. You want a women in office who wants to take away rights from a women..Wow great choice. Btw It is not a person(baby) until it is living and breathing so tech. it would not be killing ****! read your science.
2. Hate to break it to you but John McCain is going to raise taxes. He is going to have to. America has got it into so much debt that we all have to pay it all off like the war and wall street and all the stupid ****. He is just bull shitting you. Every president says they are not going to and they ALL do! Btw McCain is for the rich not the poor class.
3. You don’t have to be in the senate to be President. McCain probably will die in office and Palin will take other and we will all die for she has no idea what she is do:ing. I don’t pull that Stupid ******* women card either. I’m a women and i don’t want The world judging Americas women to be idiots. and if serving your country is the only way to be a good American MOST Americans are not real Americans then. you more then likely aren’t one i don’t see you other there. Plus he was captured. Wow great job.

Lynn by NO means did i ever mean my comment to be racial as to saying that McCain is the ideal American because he’s white. I never even said those words. You completely misunderstood.
What i meant was America has always stood for hardworking people that work their way up to where they are .. That’s all I meant by my comment because McCain has paid his duties to this country as a soldier which is what many of our men are out there doing .. He’s protected this country and for you to twist my words around and make it seem as if i were saying that Black people haven’t done their time and haven’t served for our country..
Next time learn to read my comment before you make preconceived notions .

If you care for this country you’d do what’s right and vote for the man who’s been in this senate for longer than 4 years.
It’s shameful that Obama fans are getting sucked up in his lies and his talk.. 95% of taxes will be cute. do you believe in that crap? It’s not possible and like i said he’s all talk.

If you have any decency and common sense and know what’s right for this country you’ll vote for McCain..

Let’s face it.. Obama is better known as a celebrity . & Our country doesn’t need another celebrity we need a leader.
& that’s McCain.

I LOVE HIM.

VOTE FOR CHANGE!!!!!

This cover was taken I think with a fish-eye lense. Which tends to make things look really round and big. Not flattering and innacurate for Obama. But who cares???????????????????????

Hopefully, this cover will stop all those wusses on the right to stop bitching about Sarah Palin’s Newsweek cover, Where the nation can take a close up look at her wrinkles and mustache.

OBAMA/BIDEN 08!

These republicans still blame Clinton and the democrates for the economy going bad but they do not want to blame Mccain for His voting for GW Bush’s economy policy since he voted 4 out of 5 times times with his fail policies. No, Obama is not running against George Bush but is running against Mccain and the Republicans Policies that have made this country almost second rate. He needs to keep reminding McCain He use to follow Bush to the tea and now he will not let the President campaign for him. I remember how the Press use to say Gore did not want Clinton to campaign for him because of the Monica lew Problem. Ring a bell Rep

We All know this country is in a Recession but the media is still trying to spare the President and the Republicans by not calling it what it is. I think they will wait for the next President and it will be call a recession and get blamed for it. My opinion Only.
