I have nothing against Obama. He in fact may be the BEST American president in modern times. But here is what scares me if he becomes the president of the USA:

Will the African American population be ready to react civilly when Obama will have to counter opposition as the president? Or will they live up to how they are stereotyped?

I have a feeling that the general Black population will do the latter. Why? Because that is how the general Black population react in my line of work. I have come across different nationalities and in my experience here in USA, African Americans are the hardest to deal with for they take almost everything that hurt them as RACISM. Sad, but true.

I cannot fathom how slavery hundreds of years ago is still a raw wound and why they use it as a crutch. Hispanics, Asians and Blacks have all had slavery in their history. Why can’t the Blacks rise above this like the other nationalities?

Now there are very nice Black people too so this isn’t for you. I admire you. In fact, the kindest Black I came across was even kinder than the kindest white person I came scross. How I hope that there were more Blacks like you.

#41 YM…to answer your question in short. The challenge that many African-Americans face in our society are statements similar to yours. Yes, slavery was a long time ago. However, ‘Jim Crow’ a set of laws prohibiting Black Americans from having the same opportunities as most other Americans was not so long ago. The Baby Boomer Generation who grew up in the 50’s & 60’s and probably the people you work with or the parents of people you work with did not have the opportunity to go to many colleges in this country because they were banned from them. It was not until 1967 that an interracial couple could even be married in this country. That was 47 years ago…so my grandfather, who is white could not marry someone other than a white woman if he had wanted and the same for my grandmother. So I look at my Black friends and talk with their grandparents who were hosed in the streets of the Alabama and Ohio during the Civil Rights Movement of the 60’s and 70’s and say wow…we have come a long way when someone old enough to be their child is running for President and may very well win.

Black people have come a long way in this country based on the cards dealt them.

Unless you live under a rock you’d know that taxpayers have BEEN paying for everything. You didn’t leave the country while the Republicans were making it a sewer, but you’d leave after we get the effects and blame it on someone else. You’re in the right club baby. I have never in my life seen a group of people like the Republicans who can look a lie squarely in the face and call it the truth. The last 8 years have been a ball-buster for the American people. No one denies that there was a budget SURPLUS when Clinton left the White House. Obama had already started going to his right, as did McCain. At the same time, the moderator actually moved to their left/his right. McCain appeared to be kinda joking around about which way to go.

you democrats should know that i’m not the only one. my bank manager told me that 5 other people came to see him just before i did. and he expects more people to do what we have done. there is no way in hell that i’m going to pay for the education, health care, etc for some other person and/or their children. if a you want to send your child to school; pay for it yourself. you want healthcare; pay for it yourself. you want to send your kid to college; pay for it yourself or tell your kid to pay his own way. do not force other people to financially responsible for your children.

Through your taxes you’ll be paying for healthcare, education, benefits for the poor, unemployment allowance and many more things. So how will it be better for you? Is it maybe that otherwise you yourself cannot afford proper care in the States?
