Katie Holmes wears her own design at the after-party celebrating the opening night of her Broadway play, All My Sons, on Thursday night at New York City’s E-Space. The 29-year-old actress wore a unique strapless jumpsuit over her lace top.
Entertainment Weekly have All My Sons a B-. Read the review at EW.com. USA Today gives it 2.5 stars out of 4, calling Katie’s debut a little off-key.

Well, the official reviews for Katie’s performance are in and guess what folks? She doesn’t embarrass herself! Yep, she’s that good. Talk about damning with faint praise. I guess it’s similar to the low expectations Sarah Palin had prior to her debate. As long as Holmes didn’t vomit on stage or run away screaming it’s all good.

This was an important night in Katie’s career and she wore the

worn something by Armani but maybe she was upset because

The above are BAD reviews, but they are soft serve papers for the masses.
The papers that count on Broadway are the New York Theatre Review and the New York TImes. Both papers hated Katie Holmes and said so. You may need a dictionary to understand the snarky verbage used to condemn her performance, but condemn her hey did!

Redemption time because Katie is getting praises on Broadway,the protestors were only 35 and they were outnumbered by the many fans of TomKat. They were escorted by theatre to stop their loud chants so the protestors just decided to go home early because they have no attention but look like idiots.

Forget about the dress, her performance is more important - or Not - cause she wasgiven a thumbs down by the critics. To be fair, she wasn’t all that bad but also not even good. Which doesn’t bode well for her future career options. Looks like Dan Radcliffe is the only Hollywood celebrity of late who conquered Broadway - both commercially (more ticket sales than All MY Sons) and artistically (he got rave reviews from All critics).
BTW, why are some people asking why Tom Cruise was not in the pictures? Are they the same ones who complained that Tom stole Katie’s thunder during the opening night just be attending the show? Poor Tom is doomed whatever he does…

Well, if Katie Holmes thought she would reignite her career a la Nicole Kidman with her stage performance, she must be bitterly disappointed. She has consistently received the weakest reviews of anybody in the cast. Unless she makes some changes to her performance, this foray into Broadway will be a total bust.
Reignite her career? She is a promising talent who is already doing so much for her young age.She is also passing the socalled myth of wives marrying superstars that they cant overshadow their talented powerful hubbies.

Katie Holmes? You would have to be extremely naive to think that Tom Cruise’s notoriety didn’t get Holmes her role in All My Sons. By the way, Kidman and Paltrow both did stage productions to much higher praise than Holmes(and they were actually the main stars of their plays, not supporting like Holmes).

As expected, Katie Holmes made a fool of herself getting on stage with the all-star cast. Read for the reviews. The role was bought by Tom Cruise and everyone knows it. No director in their right mind would have put her on stage.

That review from the Wall street journal really was cruel to Katie. But it got one thing wrong. All my Sons is not the highest grossing play in broadway. That title goes to the mega musicals. Straight dramas only play second fiddle to the musicals. And even Equus did better than Katie’s drama this week.
Bad luck about the bad reviews though. Stll, she’s only supporting cast. And this is her first play. But She should have prepared for it better though. Voice projeciton is very important in theater. Theater critics easily spot that. They specialize in the difference between Theater acting (which is superior) and movie acting (a tad inferior). LOL

I have to admit, this oufit is just awful! The pieces don’t go together and it’s not very flattering to her figure. Why do actresses and singers think that they can start a clothing line? Victoria Beckham’s line sucks too.

Interesting how the day after opening night there are no photos of
Katie ANYWHERE. How convienient that when she wants she is
able to evade the press, and when she needs publicity she walks
right out the front door so the the press can write “Katie Holmes on

What does that say about her and Cruise using Suri to draw the press to them? They know exactly what they are doing to get publicity and

1. The critics panned her performance in the show. The kindest words they could utter was “she did fine”. Which wouldn’t speak much of her acting skills.
2. That jumpsuit was “talk of the town” but not because it dazzled but because it is “different”. I guess we can say it was not warmly received. I don’t think that design will revolutionize fashion.
Katie’s “failure” on both the acting department and the designing department cannot be attributed on anybody else but herself. It definitely cannot be blamed on Tom Cruise. this role or any role. Don’t forget the writer’s strike earlier in the year
postponed a lot of movies. I read she was ready to star in a movie
with some B actors but that movie was having problems getting
financed and Katie found herself without work and restless to work.
I think when the movie Mad Money bombed, that also ENDED her
dream of starting a fashion line with Giorgio Armani. There were
rumors she was gonna start a child’s fashion line and Suri would be
her muse. I believe she was interested in a fashion line (whether for
children or women) but this plan was OVER when her movie Mad
Money failed at the box office. That movie proved she could not “open”
a movie.
After Mad Money, the next thing you read was that Katie was looking
for work, she audtioned and lost out in a role in the upcoming
movie “Nine,” based on the popular Broadway muscial. Nicole
Kidman and Penelope Cruz both won parts in the movie version
which is filming right now in London.
Many people have commented that Cruise is a silent partner in this
play All My Sons and that is how Katie the role of Ann Deaver. She
probably pressured him to get her this role. Whatever demands she
made on him, they worked because she got this role.
And the weeks leading to opening night, we all witnessed Katie
walking in and out of rehearsals that one began to sense that maybe
she was gonna to well. The night previews began Cruise was ranting and raving that she was EXTRAORDINARY, she was AMAZING. Well he seems to be the only one that thinks that.
A lot of the critics really panned her performance and although the
outfit she was wearing to her opening night after party has nothing
to do with her performance, it only served to make her look completely
ridiculous. She could have chosen any designers dress to wear in
this important evening. Most designers are happy to send you a couple of dresses to chose from, but she chose to wear this ridiculous design. And to make matters worse, we find out that she is the designer of this horrendous outfit.
This opening night evening revealed a lot to the public: Katie thinks
she is a great actress AND she thinks she is a great fashion designer. Tonight she revealed she is completely DELUSIONAL
and there is no one in her inner circle to tell her the truth. Probably
everyone around her is on Cruise’s payroll.
Next week she guest stars on Eli Stone. I’ve seen the clips of her
singing and all I can say is she is not going to leave an impressionable image with the public and entertainment industry
producer.
I predict the disappointing reviews for All My Sons is going to put a lot of pressure on her marriage. Right now Cruise IS struggling in his career. He used to be a big box office draw but that \was a while ago. He’s struggling with the release of Valkire and his public image is in shreds, and now to be married to someone that is is not hitting a HOMERUN might make him feel like its time to change partners. But if they split, it will be interesting to see who gets custody of Suri. I don’t know that he is the biological father but at this point it doesn’t matter, he has publicly said it over and over again that Suri is his. He’s not gonna start back peddling and so I think Katie will be in for a fight to keep Suri.
Cruise likes to project success, youthful energy, achievements,
happiness, health, compassion for humanity and being married to
someone who seems to be failing in her career is not something he
is going to tolerate for long. Her movie Mad Money bombed, she’s
being panned in All My Sons. I hear she has a jean fashion line
coming out with an unknown designer (NOT Armani). If that fails
I think it will be curtains for their marriage. I don’t think Cruise will
like to be married to someone that is not successful. Her only
salvation is to be 100% indoctrinated in Scientology and raise Suri
that way and don’t make any waves. And even then, Cruise might
pull the run from under her feet the same way he did with Nicole
Kidman.

Speaking of Nicole and Penelope, I don’t think they are mean people in that they would enjoy watching the Fall of Tom Cruise; however, they must be quite entertained yet shocked over who Tom selected as the 3rd “mrs cruise”. They must enjoy the “spectacle” of the carnival show that is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
I suppose one could say that Tom Cruise was out of his league when he was with both Kidman and Cruz. Both of these talented women are strong-willed, gorgegous and intelligent . Neither of them would have allowed him to control every aspect of their lives like Holmes will. It is a problem when a show casts WELL KNOWN name rather than TALENT. Kathie Holmes has no talent whatsoever. All she has is cuteness — since day 1, married to Tom Cruise or not, she got no talent. She was hardly cast in anything significant before Tom Cruise.
They should have cast a more talented person for that role. But hey, they need the bucks I guess. Sad, sad.

If she weren’t in All My Sons, I would go. The actors in this play must feel blindsided by her presence. As one of the major critics said, she is tabloid material, the others are serious veterans of both Broadway and the movies.
It must really be difficult to know that you have to go on stage through January 2009 when no one takes Homely seriously and knows she was stunt-casted. It’s pretty darn sad that the director, McBurney, doesn’t consider himself a director good enough to produce a play without having to resort to such tactics as stunt casting.

Katie obviously lives in an isolated shell. She is never pictured alone with any body except TC or Suri. She doesn’t know what is going on in the real world because she chooses to avoid reality. The picture she “paints” in her mind is alot more pleasant than reality.

butter up their subject only to get the “money shot” regardless if they
are using that person or laughing at that person. At this point in the
evening, Katie still thought “I’ve arrived, look at me.” The only problem
is that people were in disbelief at what she was wearing. Her
arrogance and isolation was paramount, she thought “a star is born,
not only did I give a great performance but I debuted my own design
tonight.” She looked foolish. Yes, I believe Katie lives in a very
controlled and isolated world and that’s what Suri can also expect

NOT the other way around. I think she must realize she became more popular because she married Cruise and because she is the

I have seen dozens of photos of Suri looking miserable with her head down, hands over her ears, and Katie (or Tom) keeps smiling like everything is fine. Have you ever seen another parent smile when their child is in distress?
The reason I say Katie had a fashion design in the pipeline and that
was gonna ride on the success of the movie Mad Money was because
a lot of celebrities do this. When Jennifer Lope became successful
she released a movie: Wedding Planner, an album, and a perfume
all together. Then she opened her restaurant Madre’s in Pasadena,
started a clothing line, and another perfume, etc. We all know she
probably made a SMALL contribution in the clothing line and perfume
scents but it had her name because she was HOT at the time. People
went to her restaurant because they wanted to feel a part of J Lo’s
world. If they like it, they’ll come back. Nothing gained curiosity satisfied.
A lot of celebrities have clothing lines: Jaclyn Smith, J Lo, Gwen Stefani, Victoria Beckman, Martha Stewart, Sean Combs, etc.
I believe Katie was gonna jump on this bandwagon also with either
a clothing line for children (with Suri as her muse) or a woman’s line.
None came to fruition because her movie bombed. What does a
movie have to do with a fashion line? If the starts are hot, you give
then another glance, many pay a few more bucks at what they are
selling.
Would you buy anything from Tara Reid? I don’t think so because she
is not hot, she has been portrayed as a boozing, partying hard OVER,
celebrity.
But would you consider joining Jenny Craig if Valerie Bertinelli or
Queen Latifah were promoting the brand? Maybe because both are
well liked celebrities.
Katie was surprised when Mad Money bombed. She probably was
surprised when the tough New York Critics panned her performance.
And just about every celebrity blog, or entertainment show commented
on her “interesting outfit.”
To get endorsements, or start fashion lines or perfumes you have to
have a fan base that is willing to take a chance on your product and
they will do so because they like the celebrity. If the are repeast customers its because maybe they like the product. But the celebrity
is the draw to the product.
And the press is a double edged sword, they will photograph you
at your best and your worse. They are going for the “money shot”
not you.
