Misconceptions of Obama Fuel Republican Campaign
Some Republican supporters were interviewed after a rally in Ohio by Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin. Here are some of the misconceptions they had of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama:
– “I’m afraid if he wins, the Black will take over.”
– “When you’ve got a Negro running for President, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.”
– “He seems like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I believe Palin is filled with the Holy Spirit and I believe she’s going to bring honesty and integrity to the White House.”
– “He must support terrorists. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me, is Obama.”
– “Just the whole Muslim thing. A lot of people forgot about 9/11. I don’t know, it’s just a little unnerving.”
– “Obama and his wife. I’m afraid they could be anti-White.”
– “I don’t like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash. Because we’re not!”

I honestly do not know why I even read these comments…I am so disappointed with the people on this site. Just because the people in the video may not by as “intelligent” as you would deem them, does not mean that they are not allowed to voice their opinions. These people are legitimately scared of Obama, and so am I. I am a college educated woman and I, unlike so many other people, like and want the best for this country. I question Obama’s patriotism more than anything and that is something that should never come into question, especially regarding a man running for the highest office in the land.
im really afraid, that obama doesnt win…
it relly would increase the hatred in our world, i really hope the usa won´t make that mistake
oh please, its so sad….i cant believe how this “people” can think this…its so pathetic!…and dont know what i say…..its so big the ignorance of this “people”…
I studied in USA & Canada twenty yrs ago and have many friends there. I visited often and whenever I can. I cannot believe that this election is boiling down to racial issues. What if Obama is really Muslim??? Is there anything to say that a Muslim or a Black cannot be Pres. I have Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Catholic friends. I go to church with them during the holy holidays. Same I celebrated Bar Mitzwah with my Jewish friends. I am Buddhist. I am not anti any religion as I believe that all religion teach us goods not evil.
Most importantly in this election, pls study the issues not a person background. I am anti killing of animals and humans. I do not believe that war solve problem. Tolerance and understanding of each other alway are the best way to deal with problem.
I want to see the best man who can solve the economic/ financial woes and give hope to Americans and the world. We have enough of natural disaster without having to solve man-made problems.
George W Bush has created many problems and he is leaving behind a lot of problems to be solved by the next president.
With regards to Ayers, is what Palin is saying is history or is he still the same. Can a person past always be held against him.
Good luck to the guy who get elected because USA is facing is most difficult time. The world is watching as what affect USA will affect the rest of the world.
To all American, plse elect the best man for the job.
Plse keep racial issues out. Palin, plse keep to important issues and not raise racial issues. Do not incite the yr followers this way. It is not good for yr country. If voters are not voting for Obama because they believe he is Arab, Muslim, anti- American, a terrorist then it is a sad day for America.
Plse inform yr voters to vote on what they want to see happening to USA and themselves in the next 4 years. Vote for the change they want. Plse let’s hear about these changes.
nasty michelle, osama’s wife, wtf, she calls all whites racist.
what was her thesis about? why is it a secret?
she and osama are NOT White House material, it will be a catastrophe for America. don’t trust either one of them, especially that
michelle with her nasty arrogant smirk.
omg……..you people are actually inviting the terrorists to take over our country, think before you vote, osama spells disaster.
AJ (#95) I love how you never address what is ACTUALLY said in this video. If Obama supporters are all cult followers then what the hell do you call the people on that clip? Those idiots take the word of a flyer and a woman from Alaska that they knew nothing about a few months ago! Read, ask questions, travel, open your heart and your mind! Be a true christian and do not hate someone because of their name, colour and/or religion. Its sick that children are being raised to believe this insanity and ppl like AJ etc have no problem with it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should try checking out Obama’s site: http://www.fightthesmears.com
They cover a lot of the misconceptions about Barack and Michelle- may help you some with the rampant rumors floating around.
And I do hate the word patriotism- it has been manipulated so much post-9/11 that if you object to anything in this nation, you are labeled unpatriotic. Just because Obama has raised questions about our current policy and our past, it doesn’t make him unpatriotic. You can be patriotic and still disagree with policy.
And I too am an educated college grad- but I see through the smears floating around that call Barack a terrorist, a Muslim (when did it become illegal in this nation to be Muslim- it’s the modern day equivalent of McCarthy’s witch hunt for communists- also not illegal in)…try looking up the info yourself and then hopefully you will see how this fear about Obama is unfounded…
@ MEredith
“Patriotism”?
You hide behind this word to cover for your country’s gross criminal behaviour all around the world and then you wonder why Americans are not as popular as a nation as they used to be. What is it, the McCarthy years all over again?
Are they aware he’s half white?
Oh sweetmotherofgawd… I swear, there must be something the in the damn water over in the US..!!
In Europe presidental election would be shut down if one third of the **** thats happening over there would happen here!!
C´omon people!! REALLY! Are you this thick??!!??
The whole thing has turned into a proper joke!! Look at yourselfs!!!
Everybody, please forward this post around the world, not only to your friends, but to people who might be on the fence. It’s one thing to babble on a blog, but there is a large percentage of folks who are having a hard time voting for Barack Obama because:1. He’s bi racial (or black) and 2. Because he beat Hilary Clinton. For those of you who really care about this, the time to get the word out is now. Show this to your parents, grandparents, neighbors. Have a calm discussion with them. We all know people who feel the way the people do in this video, even if they are expressing it so ‘eloquently’. We cannot have more of the same, and that is what will happen with McCain, More of the same with McCain.
After 43 white Presidents over a span of 219 years, I doubt there was ever a moment when the question of race ever came up white Americans (are any other Americas since it seemed a fargone conclusion that a white would be President ) .
I know no one white has ever wondered if a non white interests would be less served if a white was in office.
Why is it Obama has made an effort in those places alledgedly full of nothing but the so-called hardworking white American vote like SD, Omaha, and Nebraska, but McCain-Palin haven’t even thought of a meet and greet in Harlem, or Miami, or Southside Chi-town, or East LA, or China-Town?
Don’t answer the question because it doesn’t matter one bit. It’s perfectly ok for the mindsets in the video to exist, but Rev Wright is the racist. Yeah right.

“For months during the nominating process, Michelle Obama’s graduating thesis has been under lock and key at Princeton University. The university stated suspiciously that it would be available to the public after the general election. Nobody knew why until now.
The sequestering of an academic thesis was unprecedented at Princeton, a liberal university that prides itself on open access to scholarly information. Despite repeated attempts by media organizations to view the document, Obama’s alma mater would provide no explanation for hiding it.
The thesis written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn, is titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community.” You can download it here.
Politico.com received a possibly redacted copy from the Obama campaign recently. The excerpts show that Obama identifies with black militancy, utterly obsessed with race in America and her own blackness. It is a fundamentally racist document, shocking when considering that this scholarship is the product of a presidential candidate’s wife at a great university.
She mourns that she will face “further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.”
Obama’s thesis is full of paranoid claims and overtly racist feelings. She cannot accept the idea of a diverse student body working together in a melting pot. Others worry about her black militancy here.
“I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don’t belong. Regardless of the circumstances under which I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second.”
Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America, but she elevates black over white in her world.
“There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I was somehow obligated to this community and would utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit this community first and foremost. “
What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources that will elevate black over white in America?
Most alarming is her use of the terms “separationist” and “integrationist” when describing the views of black people. She clearly identifies herself with a “separationist” view of race.
“By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.”
Here is another typical passage that is uncomfortable for its poor writing, but nevertheless ominous in meaning:
“Attending Princeton has probably forced [black alumni] to compete intellectually with Whites more than with Blacks and, thus, they have probably become more familiar with Whites intellectually, but in other activities they are likely to have gained familiarity with Whites if they did not spend time with Whites in other activities besides intellectual ones. “
Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire? Only 89 responded out of 400 who were asked for input.
The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action policies that could be the hallmark of an Obama administration.
“Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments.”
The conclusion of the thesis is alarming. Michelle Obama’s poll of black alumni helps her understand that other black students at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness. She laments that only 1/3 say they are more comfortable around black people than white people.
But rather than celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common American culture more than they value the color of their skin.
“I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community. However, these findings do not support this possibility.”
Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd and see Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted with one another.
That is a very divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama administration. Michelle Obama’s intellectually refined racism should give all Americans pause for deep concern.
There are plenty of dumb and uninformed people from both political sides. Just vote.
As a black woman, I can even begin to get insulted at their ignorance. I just laugh everytime I read this idiocracy!!!
I find it incredibly disturbing that Just Jared has jumped on the smearing political bandwagon by “uncovering” this kind of crap…there are ignorant Americans all over this country - to suggest they’re all Republicans or McCain supporters makes you as ignorant as they are.
@ Domina
LOL, we posted similar thoughts at exactly the same time - 9.10am…
Well said, btw.
# 109 Name @ 10/16/2008 at 9:12 am Are they aware he’s half white?

im so glad that i live in Spain.here are freedom ,and respect between us,and this is the most important, and the basic and main for a country and a coexistence.
105; Oy, aren’t you the clever one? Would you be so kind as to give me 3 good reason to dislike Obama without mentioning his race or the word terrorist? I will give you iq- points if it actually has something to do with his politics
# 3 laura @ 10/16/2008 at 3:57 am typical….republicans are just plain stupid…..
Laura, that’s a serious misconception and stereotype. This is not representative of all Republicans anymore than one can lump all Democrats together in one box. For all we know, some of those being in the video are from that Reagan Dem faction that is extreme in it’s views of America and race.

This is ignorant people, they don’t represent Americans, nor American people.
Oh and just in case you haven’t understood the significance of the hatred for America of a possible wife of an American president, read from this past Sunday ‘Meet the Press’
Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance Sun,
07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn’ USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171… During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, ‘Stand and Face It’
Senator Obama Live on Sunday stated:
‘As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.’We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to endhostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago.She has her views and I have mine’. Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country’s First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.’
WHAAAAAAAT the Hell !!!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President.
I, for one, am speechless.
disturbing how ignorant and stupid some people are
First of all, all these International commenters who say americans are stupid..that’s really uncalled for. These people are clearly uneducated –I’m sure each country (unfortunately) has prejudiced and uneducated people. We know that Bush has tarnished our image in the world …things will change once Obama becomes president. These comments are a result of no education..so you can’t hate people who don’t know any better.
