Brad Pitt’s Futuristic Odyssey

Brad Pitt’s Futuristic Odyssey

Brad Pitt is currently teaming up with George Miller to adapt Homer’s The Odyssey.

Warner Bros reportedly plans to take a futuristic look in outer space at the great journey of Odysseus. Variety reports that the hope is that Pitt will star and Miller will direct, with Pitt’s Plan B producing.

The storyline centers on the 10-year journey home of Greek general Odysseus following the fall of Troy.
Odysseus was the king of Ithaca and devised the Trojan Horse which aided the Greeks’ razing of Troy in the Homeric poem The Iliad.

George Miller directing the film may be contingent on whether Justice League, which he was set to direct, falls through or not.

WHAT DO YOU THINK of Brad Pitt in a futuristic version of The Odyssey?

“Brad Pitt has done more for this community than anyone,” Rahim said.

Brad Pitt is doing more than the government of the United States?

“I would say 10 times more than the government,” Rahim said.

Pitt founded non-profit group called Make it Right, which aims to build new, energy-efficient homes in the Ninth Ward. Some people doubted that Pitt would follow through, but with few delays, homes started going up. The first homes were finished this summer.

If Brad Pitt and Harry Connick, Jr. can work to build dozens of new homes, why does it take government so long to follow through on its plans? The New Orleans mayor said he has made it easier for people to rebuild their homes, making permits available online at kiosks throughout the city.

Paramount pushes ‘Soloist’ bow
Downey Jr./Foxx drama moved to March 2009
By ANNE THOMPSON, TATIANA SIEGEL

Brad Pitt joins WB for ‘Odyssey’
Columbia pitches ‘Moneyball’ to Pitt

Paramount Pictures is pulling the awards-season plug on “The Soloist.”

Studio is moving the Jamie Foxx-Robert Downey Jr. starrer from Nov. 21 to March 13, dashing any hopes for Academy Awards accolades for ‘08.

DreamWorks, which produced the film, had high hopes for “The Soloist” as a contender in multiple Oscar categories, including the acting heats, particularly Downey’s performance.

Directed by “Atonement” helmer Joe Wright, “Soloist” is based on a series of L.A. Times columns by Steve Lopez about a homeless schizophrenic musician’s dreams of playing at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

DreamWorks declined comment, but insiders said brass are very disappointed by the move while conceding that it might benefit the film’s box office prospects due to the competitive field of year-end films.

U.K.’s Working Title, also a producer on “Soloist,” and helmer Wright were also taken off guard. Paramount risks tainting the movie’s profile with this move, which the industry and media will read as a vote of no-confidence. It had built positive buzz during long-lead screenings.

Steve Zaillian’s “All the King’s Men” bowed to disappointing box office after Columbia Pictures moved it from 2005 to 2006.

TV spots for “The Soloist” have already aired nationally and were committed going forward, though Par said it can pull the spots back or roll them over. “Soloist” trailers had been placed in front of “Eagle Eye.”

“We decided it’s a commercial movie that will play well in the spring, and we’ll give it an aggressive wide release then,” Par vice chairman Rob Moore said.

Studio also moved Ed Zwick’s “Defiance,” a Holocaust drama starring Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber, to a 2009 wide release. The film, which was scheduled to open Dec. 12, will still get an Oscar qualifying run by bowing Dec. 31. But Paramount will release the Vantage title wide on Jan. 16.

Both “The Soloist” and “Defiance” were booked into the AFI Fest next month.

Moves save the studio some $60 million-$70 million in prints and advert

Excellent. Personal opinion here, but I believe much of Brad’s “on-fired–ness” has been directly motivated by sharing life with someone who gets him. JMHO

Good Morning and thanks for the new thread about BP’s potential latest project. I am looking forward to all of BP and AJ upcoming projects including Changeling and the Benjamin Button Movie. BP is busy producing movies and babies(with the help of AJ). A futuristic Odyssey sounds like an interesting concept. However, with all good films, the script is the thing. Happy TGIF!!!. Thanks for all the updates Just Jared.

In the world of filmmaking, states and countries act as individual entities trying to draw film production to spur local economies, and offer jobs to area craftspeople and film-specific vendors.

In this competition, many states have dangled enticing tax breaks and credits to producers to sweeten the deal, as Louisiana has done aggressively.

The state boasts a vibrant film and television community with many established production hubs, sound stages and post-houses established over the years in the Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans area.

The current economic crisis has turned the spotlight on these fat giveaways to Hollywood and foreign producers, illuminating just what the cost is to the local taxpayer and just how the states manage to do this. By getting the taxpayers to shore up the difference, these incentives are now causing some problems for local film commissions.

The New York Times reporter Michael Cieply uncovered exactly how much Brad Pitt’s latest big film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” has cost the Bayou State: $27,117,737, to be exact.

Pitt maintains a home with Angelina Jolie in the French Quarter of New Orleans, and has spearheaded a home development plan to help rebuild the devastated ninth ward of the city. Last year Pitt took advantage of a meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative by announcing a new 150-Home Sustainable Community in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. Pitt partnered with real-estate developer and philanthropist Steve Bing as part of his “Make It Right” project.

Pitt pledged to match $5 million in contributions to the project. Bing has pledged to match $5 million in contributions as well, for a total of $10 million in matching funds for the home building.

Despite the do-gooding efforts of the star, Cieply writes that outrage at paying rich peoples’ bills has hit a nerve with John Q. Public, and in turn, various state legislators who want to reign in the give-away party.

“One of the most shocking bills has come due in Louisiana, where residents are financing a hefty share of Brad Pitt’s next movie…As the number of movies made under these plans multiplied in recent years, the state money turned into a welcome rescue plan for Hollywood at a time when private investors were fleeing the movies. But the glamour business has not always been kind to those who pick up the costs, and states are moving to rein in their largess that has allowed producers to be reimbursed for all manner of expenditures, whether the salaries of stars, the rental of studio space or meals for the crew.”

Cieply reports that the politically checkered state of Louisiana’s former film commissioner is now due in court in January and facing 15 years in federal prison for accepting bribes to inflate film budgets netting higher production subsidies.

Over 40 states have followed Louisiana’s lead, such as locational favorites North Carolina, Michigan, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, which Cieply reports has recently tightened their lenient tax credit menu offered to filmmakers. Critics of the incentives programs cite that the jobs created by fostering a less expensive production location makes up for the lost tax revenues.

Question of the day: How do you feel about large tax incentives for outside production companies to come and work in your state? Do the temporary jobs that are created warrant the loss of tax revenues for your state?

rad Pitt’s Double Bill: The Odyssey and Moneyball

October 17, 2008
by Alex Billington
Brad Pitt’s Double Bill: The Odyssey and Moneyball

Two major casting announcements for Brad Pitt tonight, both being interesting projects based on literature. The first, an outer space adaptation of Homer’s “The Odyssey”; the second, Steve Zaillian’s adaptation of Michael Lewis’ nonfiction book “Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game”. Given I went through the American education system myself and was forced to read “The Odyssey”, I know that almost everyone is familiar with that story, but what is Moneyball all about? The book is a baseball and business management combo that tells the story of Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland Athletics, and his team’s modernized, statistics-heavy approach to running the organization ??.

The Odyssey project is setup at Warner Brothers with Happy Feet director George Miller set to adapt the screenplay and hopefully direct. Instead of telling the classic story in ancient Greek times, when it was written by Homer, the intention is to transfer it to a futuristic setting in outer space, further continuing Hollywood’s upcoming sci-fi trend. Warner Brothers doesn’t have Brad Pitt or George Miller signed and ready to go, but they’re giving this an early greenlight in hopes of securing both of them. “The Odyssey” follows the Greek hero Odysseus and his long journey home to Ithaca following the fall of Troy. If this were set in a world as stunning as Mass Effect, it could be incredible, but I fear it won’t be that great.

Moneyball is a project setup at Sony that we first mentioned way back in March. Oscar winning screenwriter Steve Zaillian (Schindler’s List, Mission: Impossible, American Gangster) has signed on to adapt the screenplay for David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me) to direct. I absolutely love the concept of this book and really hope it turns out well on the big screen. Producer Michael De Luca previously explained what their take is: a “dramatic depiction of that 2002 season” that is “condensed to really the beginning and end of that season that contained the 22 game winning streak.” De Luca adds: “I think there should be a mix of a sports movie but also an anti-establishment triumph of the individual in terms of the way Billy Beane went up against conventional wisdom and the bureaucracy.”

I’m clearly much more interested in Moneyball than Odyssey, especially because I’m excited to see Brad Pitt give his interpretation of Billy Beane. But that’s not to say I have visions of grandeur with an outer space “Odyssey” as well. That image on the cover of the “The Forever War” book keeps coming to mind when thinking about this. Anything sci-fi I’m usually excited by, and I’m probably the only one who will defend this idea, but that’s because I’m looking past the basics and into my imagination. I also still firmly believe that Brad Pitt is, hands down, one of the great actors of our generation and will do a great job exploring both of these projects.

Microsoft set to help the littlest immigrants

With some of the biggest legal heavy hitters in the country and Angelina Jolie as a spokesperson, Microsoft today launched a new initiative to provide free legal services to illegal-immigrant children facing possible deportation.

By Lornet Turnbull

Seattle Times staff reporter

Partnered with some of the nation’s legal powerhouses — and with actress Angelina Jolie as a spokesperson — Microsoft today launched an initiative to provide free legal help to hundreds of illegal-immigrant children who are on their own and facing deportation.

Through Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), the Redmond company and a group of law firms in nine cities will spend about $14.5 million over the next three years on an immigration legal-defense program for children, similar to a partnership Microsoft has had with local attorneys for years.

“While there are many worthy causes and cases, we wanted to focus on children who have been separated from their families and are in particular needy circumstances,” said Brad Smith, senior vice president and general counsel for Microsoft.

“For children who have no one to speak on their behalf, a lawyer is a lifeline to protection.”

Last year, about 8,000 illegal-immigrant children with no official adult supervision were processed in immigration court. They came from all over the world — the majority from Central America — some fleeing untold horror and abuse.

Crossing illegally into the U.S., some were separated from parents or guardians. Others were smuggled in alone by coyotes, people who help immigrants cross the border illegally for a fee.

Once here, some turned to the Department of Homeland Security seeking asylum. But most were picked up by immigration authorities at U.S. borders and airports or came to the attention of immigration authorities after running afoul of the law.

About 215 of these children were in Washington state.

Okay, I am through. Happy TGIF!!!!!

Both Moneyball and Odyssey sound like interesting projects. WTG Brad. Just one note to WB - dont publicise it like AOJJ.

Brad Pitt looks hot, I love him.

Sounds like a bomb .

Oh nee!!

He made me stop watching his films after Troy. So please…anything else, Brad. But please, hands off from The Great King of Ithaca and Homer!!

Brad looks so handsome in that pic. He looks like aged good wine. Angie is so in love with him. I just hope he does not ever disappoint her. I feel and hope he loves her as much as she loves him. Angie is so much more vocal about her love for him.

Interesting project. Wonder if it will make. Brad will have to become the bread winner as Angie reduces the number of pics she is in. Seems like being a stay at home mom fits her well. I like her so much!!!!

I hate how Jolie has become the stay at home mome and housewfie of the 1950s. She used to be so independent. Now Brad is piling up projects like there’s no tommorow. He gets paid MILLIONS for one movie, yet he keeps trying to avoid homelife.

If you like her so much, then why would you want her to be a 1950s housewife? She used to be so independent, and now Brad Pitt’s trying to avoid homelife by piling on projects. He gets paid over 20 million for ONE FILM, yet he keeps piling on projects like he’s in debt.

He looks very tired in that picture (lots of children to take care of; maybe he and his wifey should stop collecting children:)).

By the way, Brad Pitt is for me one of the most overrated and overexposed actors there are.

I agree. He needs to take ONE YEAR off which Jolie has done this year to stay at home with his family. He keeps piling on projects to avoid homelife when one film pays him enough money for an entire family to retire and never work again. Jolie already plans to take a year long break in 2010. Brad is just avoiding his responsibilities at home. I hate how Jolie has become a 1950s housewife like Kate Winslet’s character in Revolutionary Road who is always stuck at home.

Not only that, someone is forcing Darko to see Brad Pitt movies.
Darko has even had to agree with him/her/it self on a Brad Pitt message board.

When will Darko be freed from having to post on the first page of every single Brad Pitt or Angelina thread?

Oh the humanity!!!

They roll together. Too funny. BP has a sucessful production company. Hollywood comes calling. Deal with it. AJ is getting reading to film the Salt movie and loves being a Mom. Children are a blessing and if giving them a loving and caring home “collecting” then so be it. All children should be so fortunate. However, sadly this is not the case and many children live in poverty and desperate condiitons. Shouldn’t hens be celebrating instead of whining over BP. Peeboy and Whiny are back together. Yahoo!!!!

Microsoft, 25 law firms and Angelina Jolie team up to represent immigrant children
Leigh Jones / Associate editor
October 16, 2008

Microsoft Corp. is teaming up with actress Angelina Jolie and 25 law firms and corporate law departments to launch a major pro bono initiative to represent immigrant children in the United States.

The program will seek to help the nearly 8,000 children who each year are separated from their families and go through the U.S. immigration process, often unrepresented by counsel.

Kids in Need of Defense, or KIND, represents the widespread coordination of a pro bono effort, something Microsoft hopes will serve as a model for other pro bono projects.

“Part of what we’re trying to do is approach pro bono in a holistic rather than piecemeal way,” said Brad Smith, general counsel of Microsoft.

Microsoft is expected to announce the initiative Friday with Jolie in Washington, D.C. The corporation is partnering with the actress to raise awareness of the program and because of her experience as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nation’s High Commissioner for Refugees and her previous efforts in providing free legal aid to unaccompanied children.

So far, Microsoft has received commitments from firms and legal departments totaling more than $5 million in time and money for the project, Smith said.

Children from other countries end up unaccompanied in the United States each year for a variety of reasons, Smith said. They may become separated from their families in the process of fleeing another country for their safety or they may come to this country on their own to escape abuse. KIND estimates that as many as half of the 8,000 unaccompanied immigrant children who go through U.S. immigration proceedings each year are not represented by counsel.

The law firms included in the project are Arnold & Porter; Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersol; Berry Appleman & Leiden; Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft; Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton; Covington & Burling; Crowell & Moring; Davis Wright Tremaine; Holland & Knight; Howrey; K&L Gates; Latham & Watkins; Lowenstein Sandler; and Morrison & Foerster.

Others include Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads; Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe; Perkins Coie; Shook Hardy & Bacon; Sidley Austin; Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom; Steptoe & Johnson; Sullivan & Cromwell; Weil Gotshal & Manges; and White & Case.

In addition to Microsoft, the corporate legal departments of Merck & Co. and News Corporation are supporting KIND.

@ #30; don`t be scared or even upset;) Pitty and Angie are not worth to be it. It`s just my opinion. Take it easy and don`t worry, be happy:)!!!

Personally, I think it’s a bad idea- the version of Troy (based on The Iliad) was a terrible adaptation. It took too many liberties and by the end of the film, there was little left of the real Iliad story (and being in a Greek/Roman class right now, we all discussed how terrible the film really was and how the title rightfully couldn’t be The Iliad).

We can’t really judge this until we see exactly where they are going, but I’m not too keen on the idea. Greek mythology is hard to pull off (especially if we include the gods)…I guess Brad loves the mythology, but at least try to retain some of the original elements of the story line…

He´s lost his touch with movies.

I’m a Greek and I know first hand that Brad looks more like a Swede rather than a Greek man… Oh, and Odysseus in space it’s a bit weird and odd. Sounds like bald Hugh Jackman in The Fountain (which Brad at first dumped to make in 2008 a movie called ‘The Tree of Live’…). No problem with The Fountain (great movie) or Jackman (great actor), but in this case we are talking about history. And I wonder: Is Hollywood ever going to consider poor Greeks and the history of their nation and stop doing films like Alexander, 300 and Troy?… Just a question…

I think he should pass on this. They are just using his name to drum up interest.

andamentothat @ 10/17/2008 at 9:38 am

thx for all the news bdj.. Jared should have a thread up for the MS project that Ange is working on.

I can’t wait for TCCOBB. Love ya Brad.

Um, do you haters want to calm the f*ck down — Brad is producing, he may or may NOT star in the Odyssey pic. Ditto with the other film. There have been no casting announcements, just that warner’s “hopes,” he will star. Studios do that sh*t all the time, that way, when they do cast the lead they may not have to pay someone who isn’t Brad Pitt as much, because they say they have Brad waiting in the wings.

That said…

Nice to see, The National Law CLARIFY and highlight Angelina’s involvement with KIND, seeing as the Seattle paper has her as “spokesperson.” Since she funded the program on her own initially, got laws passed, and had her own project — that they could have easily researched, saying she was a ’spokesperson’ was slap in the face.

Like Angelina is going to leave her family, traveling with two infants, just to stand on a stage as a ’spokesperson.’

…oh and true to form Huvane has Maniston visiting an elementary school today, smart water bottle in hand on a ‘charity,’ run — great timing Stephen…as ‘andamentothat,’ said — hacking into the JPs calendar was an excellent idea. LOL

Oh please @ 10/17/2008 at 9:44 am

Thanks Jared, sound like a very interesting project

The Odyssey should never be made into any film. It should be read.

Brad your career is going up up up,Will be the first in line to watch.

I don’t like the idea of the Odyssey being made into a futuristic film but I won’t worry about it because it’s just talk right now. I do think that baseball movie would be good but only interesting to real baseball fans . . . and there are a LOT of those around!!

Nice to see the EX doing “charity work” with the kiddies in L.A. She “shook hands” with them and showed them her bottle of Dumbwater. Wasn’t that nice? I applaud her amazing charity work with children. Must have taken Huvane months to think of it. Good for them to come up with something so wonderful.

Big difference. Thanks for pointing it out. AJ has been in the forefront of this initiative and a big supporter of Children ’srights and aid. I think the Seattle paper (home of Microsoft) was playing up the Microsoft part. However, it is a good program and worthwhile cause.

Fruit Loop @ 10/17/2008 at 10:25 am

Sounds very, very lame. Not interested.

Brad is very overrated.

THE FACTS:

Jolie pushed for The Unaccompanied Alien Child Protection Act in reaction to her previous visit to facilities for asylum seekers in Arizona. On March 8, 2005 Jolie took part at a National Press Club luncheon in Washington, D.C. where she promoted the bill and in support of it announced the founding of the National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children, an organization that provides free legal-aid to asylum-seeking children with no legal representation which Jolie personally funded with a donation of $500,000 for its first two years.[52] The Unaccompanied Alien Child Protection Act eventually passed in December 2005. Jolie also pushed for a bill to aid 70 million vulnerable children in the Third World which was signed by President Bush in November 2005, but so far no funding has been granted.[46]

Now, with the aid of Microsoft and others, Angie GOT her funding…She is AMAZING. I think I’ll just go forward this to the Seattle Times.

If you see any other outlets, getting it WRONG, or dimenishing her contrbutions feel free to pass this along guys.

“Glass Castle” is based on the memoir of New York columnist Jeanette Walls, a woman who must come to terms with her homeless upbringing as the child of an alcoholic, nomadic father and mentally unbalanced mother. Anne Meredith is writing the screenplay.

Paramount Pictures and Plan B have acquired pic rights to the David Sheff memoir “Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction” and the Nic Sheff memoir “Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines.” Studio and producer will use the recently published books to frame a movie about drug addiction from the perspective of a young meth addict and the father who finds himself helpless to stop his son’s downward spiral. Both Sheff books were published in February and became bestsellers. Houghton Mifflin’s “Beautiful Boy” is being sold in Starbucks locations around the country as part of the Starbucks Select book series. The movie will be produced in association with Starbucks.

Fantasy Author Garth Nix has assembled a dream team in order to bring Sabriel, the first book in his Old Kingdom trilogy, to the screen
Nix is co-writing the screenplay with Dan Futterman, actor and Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Capote, and Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner at Plan B (Brad Pitt’s company) will produce. The director will be Anand Tucker (Shopgirl, Hilary and Jackie).

Shawn Levy will direct and Nick Kurzon will write On the Clock for Warner Bros. Pictures, based on an original pitch by Kurzon. Levy will also produce the comedy along with Plan B. The high-concept comedy follows a selfish bachelor who wakes up to discover he has a biological clock, and it’s ticking.

“The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights” for DreamWorks.
Based on the 2006 book by Prentice Earl Sanders and Bennett Cohen, the story chronicles the series of racially motivated serial killings — black on white — that took place in San Francisco in 1973 and 1974. Jamie Foxx will play Sanders, who was one of two black police detectives who led the team that cracked the case. Amid their investigation, Sanders and his partner fought harassment within the police department and organized a union of minority policemen who brought a lawsuit against the city for discrimination, which they ultimately won. Sanders went on to become chief of police.
Matt Carnahan (”The Kingdom”) is adapting for the bigscreen.
Plan B’s Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner will produce alongside Foxx and Jaime Rucker King. Jeremy Kleiner, Marcus King and Shelby Stone will executive produce.

Paramount Pictures and Brad Pitt’s Plan B have acquired “Miki Falls,” a four-volume manga series created by Mark Crilley.
Story chronicles the final year of high school for Miki Yoshida, the series’ protag who tries to befriend handsome new student Hiro Sakurai but is met with resistance. Stubborn Miki, however, refuses to take no for an answer, which leads to a surprising revelation about the secretive young man.TV scribe Sera Gamble has been tapped to adapt.

Seems like Brad is much more serious these days and wants to do more meaningful roles.

I don’t know Brad, But you can pretty much pull off anything…

Paramount Pictures and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Productions are partnering to produce a film version of the novel World War Z: An Oral History of The Zombie War by Max Brooks (son of Mel). Brooks seems to have a flair for the subject of the “living challenged” as he also wrote the Zombie Survival Guide. Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski is adapting the book.

Warner Bros. Pictures has optioned feature rights to Karl Iagnemma’s short story “On the Nature of Human Romantic Interaction,” which Heyday Film and Plan B Entertainment will produce.
In “Interaction,” which appears in the author’s short-story collection of the same name, a young academic tries to formulate a series of mathematical equations that will force his randy girlfriend to make a commitment to him.
Kiernan and Michele Mulroney will script. Producers are David Heyman, Brad Grey and Brad Pitt. Guymon Casady will executive produce. Warners senior VP of production Greg Silverman will oversee the project. DeDe Gardner oversees for Plan B.

Yes, but more importantly he directed the Mad Max Trilogy. The first 2 movies rocked. The third was decent enough, but not great. I’m more interested in the fact that Miller’s got roots in sci-fi or futuristic fantasy than in CARTOONS and kiddie flix. Although…I’m sure Brad will score points with the young ‘uns for working with the guy who wrote & directed “Babe”… Still, setting “The Odyssey” in outer space is just stupid. Like I said last night - you just don’t go fcuking with Homer!

Paramount Pictures is pulling the awards-season plug on “The Soloist.”

Studio is moving the Jamie Foxx-Robert Downey Jr. starrer from Nov. 21 to March 13, dashing any hopes for Academy Awards accolades for ‘08.

BBBBWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I had a sneaking feeling this movie was going to be a dud. Mainly because Jamie Foxx sux…

In the previews it looked a lot like the movie that Don Cheadle did with the comedian , whose name escapes me.

Hmm looks like a good track record. Critical acclaim, independent movies that will live on in time. A Mighty Heart, and Jessie James will stand the test of time. BP has a striving production company. Not many A list actors can claim the same. Thanks for copying the information posted earlier in previous threads.

I wonder when the press conference is happening. :-D

Dudette - give it up. Your “1950s housewife” complaint holds no water. The fact that YOU don’t agree with ANGIE’S decisions for her life is your problem. Not hers. And sure as hell isn’t ours!

Peaches @ 10/17/2008 at 10:51 am
Exactly. The Departed was produced by BP’s company and won 4 ocars. However, when a production company is only an Echo, selective memory kicks in.

“Zora,” the Warner Bros. based true story of a woman who is considered a superwoman because of her vast personal accomplishments but finds her true strength when faced with personal crisis. Project started as an Ira Glass report on NPR’s “This American Life.”
“Zora,” at age 6, wrote a list of goals she wanted to achieve by 31, and met every one of them by 21, including becoming a bounty hunter.”

“Katharine Fugate,” a New Line-based tearjerker about a 10-year old boy who tracks down his best friend’s birth mother as his pal’s dying wish. Plan B is producing the project with Wayne Rice and Mike Karz.

“Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” Steve Kloves (the “Harry Potter” pics) has adapted and will direct Mark Haddon’s novel about an autistic 15-year-old who uses the sleuthing methods of his idol, Sherlock Holmes, to uncover the killer of a neighbor’s dog. Plan B’s producing with David Heyman’s Heyday Films.

Screenwriter Bill Witliff (”Lonesome Dove”) has been hired to adapt “My Losing Season,” the Pat Conroy coming-of-age memoir about his senior season as point guard for the Citadel basketball team in 1966-67. It is a bittersweet story as the youth must come to grips with saying goodbye to the sport that provided refuge from his bullying fighter pilot father. Plan B’s producing with Gaylord Entertainment.

Pulitzer Prize-winning “Top Dog/Underdog” playwright Suzan Lori Parks has been set to script “Act V,” a fact-based drama about a female director who works with maximum security prisoners to stage act five of “Hamlet.” Like “Zora,” the project was inspired by a report by NPR’s Ira Glass.

Plan B is teamed with Universal and Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Films on “Lou Zamperini,” a memoir about the famed Olympian and his harrowing experience of being captured by the Japanese and singled out for abuse by a camp commander. The long-in-development pic has Antoine Fuqua attached to direct and Cage to star. Robert Schenkkan and Neil Tolkin wrote it.

William Goldman has scripted “The Loner,” a WB film based on a Texas Monthly article about an undercover cop whose diligent work makes him a target. The project is out to directors.

Paramount Developing “The Year of Living Biblically: One Man’s Humble Quest to Obey the Bible As Literally As Possible,” with Plan B.
The book chronicles and examines a year in which A.J. Jacobs’ , Esquire magazine’s editor at large, immerses himself in the rules of the Old and New Testament. Jay Reiss is adapting the screenplay and the company has tapped Julian Farino to helm the movie.

Brad rocks. I will watch all Brad’s movies.

CLINIQUA @ 10/17/2008 at 10:25 am THE FACTS:

If you see any other outlets, getting it WRONG, or dimenishing her contrbutions feel free to pass this along guys.

foxy brown @ 10/17/2008 at 11:14 am

I think Brad is accepting a lot of work so he and Angie can acqire enough money to semi-retire from acting and spend more time traveling and being together as a family. I think he will keep his production company and do projects that allow him to work mostly from where ever they call home and possibly accepting those impossible to resist roles. I hope and pray that they will have a long union like Brad’s parents ( they’ve been married 46 years).

Mark Wahlberg was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance, which he lost to Alan Arkin for Little Miss Sunshine.

???? @ 10/17/2008 at 8:35 am I hate how Jolie has become the stay at home mome and housewfie of the 1950s. She used to be so independent. Now Brad is piling up projects like there’s no tommorow. He gets paid MILLIONS for one movie, yet he keeps trying to avoid homelife.

Hey AJ’s Aunt…or is it brother? Uncle? Cousin? Okay, AJ’s close relative, you need to stop complaining on a blog….It does nothing. Why not call a family meeting, like an AJ we love you but you are becoming a 50’s housewife intervention and express you feelings to AJ and BP, okay?

That’s how family business shoul be handled. Good Luck. ;)

I see the same idiots are here as always.

Brad is not a saint and never said he was nor has any one else.

Sounds interesting but will wait and see. All depends on the screemplay. A good writer could adapt to sci fi.
By the way idiots aging is a fact of life the other alternative is death. He is not going to look 25 forever, no one will. He is still a handsome man.

Gorgeous Brad is one busy busy man. Papa Pitt and his career are hotter than ever.

Here’s an update on KIND, Microsoft & Angie.

http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/kids-need-defense-kind-launched/story.aspx?guid=%7B0E0C4EB0-5938-414B-AE80-2AC349B3D490%7D&dist=hppr

Below are excerpts…

WASHINGTON, Oct 17, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ — New Children’s Advocacy Organization to Provide Legal Assistance for Unaccompanied Immigrant Children in U.S.
Microsoft Corp., internationally acclaimed actress Angelina Jolie, and more than 25 law firms and corporate law departments announced today the formation of Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), a new national children’s advocacy initiative with the mission of providing pro bono legal counsel to unaccompanied immigrant children in the United States so that they are treated fairly and compassionately in our immigration system.

“These children often have nothing; no money, no support and no family, yet they come to America seeking its promises of a better life,” states Angelina Jolie. “But many end up becoming lost, traumatized, and ultimately forgotten. KIND provides each of them with the ability to have their legal rights protected and their voices heard.”

By partnering with Ms. Jolie, KIND will build on her extensive history of accomplishments as a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, and on her long-standing commitment to providing free legal aid to unaccompanied children as young as toddlers who lack any legal representation.

Brad has a family. He works to support them and his charities, as well as loving the owrk he does. Angie the same but if they have to make a choice of who works, as a family they decided it best for Angie to be home. They are happy with their decisions. Like my Mom used to say MYOB.

********/" rel="nofollow">http://www.cinematical.com/2008/10/17/first-look-brad-pitt-in-inglourious-********/

Oh snap, I just fell in love.

The first image of Brad Pitt from Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious ******** has just arrived online (see below gallery and click to enlarge). In the film, Pitt plays Lt. Aldo Raine, who leads a group of Jewish-American soldiers during WWII called ‘The ********’. For these men, their job is to track down and viciously murder Nazis in an attempt to provoke fear in the Third Reich. ******** is currently in production in Germany, and stars Diane Kruger, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Brühl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak, Til Schweiger, Gedeon Burkhard, Paul Rust, Michael Bacall, Omar Doom, Sylvester Groth, Julie Dreyfus, Jacky Ido, August Diehl, Martin Wuttke, Richard Sammel, Christian Berkel, Sönke Möhring, Michael Fassbender, Mike Myers, Rod Taylor, Denis Menochet and Cloris Leachman.

Obviously they’re wasting no time spreading hype for this flick (but will Tarantino have it done in time for Cannes, like he previously said?). What do you think of Pitt? Doesn’t he look dashing …

Thanks for the update
