Donald Trump to Madonna: You’re Stupid!
The Apprentice boss Donald Trump, just commented on reports that Madonna could lose half of her $500 million fortune in her divorce from director Guy Ritchie because the couple have no prenup.
“I always thought she was smart — until now,” Trump, who’s been divorced twice, tells Life & Style.
DO YOU THINK that Madonna was stupid for not signing a pre-nup???

Some people don’t understand what a prenup is. When you don’t have a prenup, you are only entitled to half of what the other spouse earned DURING the marriage. What a spouse had before the marriage is off limits in a prenup.

in your dreams! i got news this is all about money; madonna’s money. if you don’t think so then you obviously been around many divorce trials. love may be wonderful and all that; but before you walk down that aisle get a prenup. any competent lawyer and/or financial adviser will tell you this. protect what’s yours.
do you honestly think that any other celebrity would be so stupid. tom cruise has a prenup. so does nicholas cage, pierce brosnan, and anyone else you can think of. paul newman, who was married to the same woman for 50 years, had a prenup.

Yeah, a prenup is important not only if you have hundreds of millions of dollars, but if you are just ordinary and have inherited property and money. Yeah, Madoona nd Guybothshouldhave singed prenups. He is not what you would call penniless being worth around 50 million, but he is a decent guy. It is said he wants nothing from her. He has his own career, fame ,fortune. Seems right if he would ask for 8 million at 1 million for every year they were married.

On one’s deathbed, I imagine most people find comfort in the kids they leave behind and memories built over a lifetime, and not the wads of cash that you can’t take with you.

If I made as much money as Madonna does I would probably have signed a pre-nup..but then I would have felt like I was doubting the the marriage…so I think they were just in love..Love can make anyone do stupid things.
It depends on the couple and the person your marrying and the trust you have for the person you are marrying. I don’t think Madonna was dumb on this choice. I think she knew Guy wouldn’t go after her money if they were to divorce. He has his own money he doesn’t need hers. He’s already commented on this I believe and he said that he wouldn’t do that. I think Guy is a good….guy lol.
Obviously, if you marry like Donald Trump then you might think about getting a Pre-Nup…when you look like Donald and super models want you…you have to know they arn’t after you for your boyish good looks and sexy bod. -eye roll-
Madonna is a lot of not so good things, but stupid she ain’t. You don’t get to where she is out of dumb luck.
Not to say that people shouldn’t protect themselves when entering into marriage. By all means, make sure you know where your money is going and where it’s coming from. Make sure your name is right there alongside your spouse’s name on the things you own. Make sure that life insurance policy has you as beneficiary. If you have children from a previous marriage, make sure their interests are protected and that if you die your spouse can’t cut them off or throw them out of the house. But it’s not stupid to not sign a prenup, it’s a choice based on personal beliefs and values and it has nothing to do with being stupid or not stupid.
Most celebrity couples have one of those, so it really is surprising she didn’t.

Um, I don’t think her NOT having a pre-nup had anything to do with how in love she was…I believe it had to do with the fact that they are not recognized in the U.K. which is where she chose to get married.
So you people who are gushing, “Aw, she was in love!” are quite delusional. Her fatal mistake was choosing to get married in the UK instead of the United States. She’s just lucky she married a man 1 billion times too decent for her who isn’t after her money, merely his children & their futures.

As of when they were married, pre-nups were ILLEGAL in the UK. Only beginning in 2007 did legislation start fighting to make them legal and it still hasn’t been made legal to my knowledge.
Again, her fatal mistake was marrying over there instead of here in the U.S. but even that was a completely selfish and spiteful move due to her disdain for America and their culture.

pre-nups are allowed in the uk, my mother just went into a marriage and they got one because of companies, money and houses. it might only be recently and they won’t always stand up in court but they were told to sign one.

it depends where modonna has most of her assets. if they’re in britain, then the prenup would useless.. but if they’re in the united states then the prenup could well have saved a lot of the 250 milliion she now stands to loose.

Pre-nups are not valid in Scotland where Madonna and Guy married.
Pre-nups in general are rarely worth the paper they are written on, a good solicitor/lawyer will have no trouble making a pre-nu void.
From the day of the marriage, and the pre-nup signing, circumstances in relationships change, which is why before the ink is even dry on a pre-nup it is usually already out of date.
As for Guy he doesn’t need Madonna’s money, he has his own, maybe not as much as Madonna, but he obviously isn’t a shallow, materialistic, money obsessed person like many people are!
I hope Guy and Madonna’s children are their main priority during this sad time.

As for all the people who say “but she was in love”, like that is some form of temporary insanity, she was sane enough to sign a marriage contract, with all of its rules, so why not include a prenup? It is not unromantic or anti-marriage, after all, marriage is not just about “I’ll love you forever”, it’s a financial agreement. A prenup just elaborates on it.

#3 is right as far as i know…in the UK, prenups are not honored the way they are in the US. i would think Donald Trump would know about that as much as he loves money. anyway, i agree with others, that when you’re in love, you’re not thinking that it will end someday and having a prenup sort of says, “we might fall out of love.” most people don’t like to think like that when they’re about to get married–even if they do have millions to lose. even if she did think about that, she probably realized that if she lost half, she’d still have over a quarter of a billion dollars. not exactly poor, is she?

I dont know the laws in English but Madonna had quite a bit of money before she married Guy which would be her own personal property, which he should not get. I am not sure what kind of money they both made after marrying but he would be intitle to half. usually he would be entile to continue to live the way he became accustomer to after marrying her.

In England the culture is different, and if Guy took Madonna to the cleaners it would be a somewhat emasculating act for a maker of gritty films such as himself and would make him seem like a wuss to his peers and the british public. It is unusual that she didn’t have a prenup, but last I read, Guy is settling for $10 million (the value of their house) but has to agree to a confidentiality agreement in regards to speaking about their marriage.
