I would have once said the very same thing. Your example is of fall 2005. As are the Japanese interviews many fans love the most (made in 2003 for “Shattered Glass” and early summer 2005 for “SW - Ep. III”). But those days are long over. And all the recent stuff on him is not half as nice anymore, in the opposite, as an (ex-)fan (in my case) you only tend between being angry about the nonsense he states with an arrogant face expression and bold smugness (e.g. most recent Jay Leno-interview for “Jumper”/about the pigs and the swing - horrible!) or you’re simply ashamed for him (”E-Talk”, March 2007). Not to mention all his many, many lies.

If a stranger came up to me and asked me personal and specific questions about my love life, I would lie too.

Bottom line is, as Cindy stated earlier, his private life is none of her business. I wish more people thought like her.

Suicide watch? Ha, ha, ha… FYI, I’m a woman, not a teenager fan girl. I fell for Hayden because he seemed to be a decent, modest man with very good values in a world which is getting crazier and cruder every day. He let out sentences with short over 20 which sounded more mature than some men I have met who are around 50 (and still searching for a meaning in their life), so I started to believe in him as somebody good, somebody to admire in our fast moving and changing world. Plus, he seemed to have an outstanding acting talent in “Higher Ground”, “LAAH” and “Shattered Glass”.
So, what I’ve lost are not teeny-dreams of a togetherness with him but the faith in just another person/man. And yes, that hurts.
Why is somebody sold totally different than he really is for so many years? If he would have sticked to his “the less people know about an actor, the more they buy his roles”-attitude everything would have been fine. He (or his girlfriend for him) decided to be overexposed on the media suddenly. I like many actors who are in relationships, and I would have been the first one to be happy for Hayden if I ever had the feeling it could have been right for him. But Bilson? A fame and public attention slave like her? No way! The sad thing is not that he is taken by somebody, that would be more than okay, but what this says about himself if he is with such an empty nutshell. That’s the message behind it. But I doubt that you will even try to understand my motives as you seem to have made your opinion already.

You instead seem to have got the point better. But why selling somebody in such an honorable image if he is not like that in fact? Is that fair? Nobody had asked him to present himself as honest and decent as he appeared to be for many years. And with such a good image the gap is even wider of course if this person cannot meet his own standards then. I also wouldn’t say anything if he’d just have changed a little bit. But he seems to have lost everything which he once seemed to consist of. And that’s indeed a bit much to accept, don’t you think? I made this assumption as such a project would take TIME, and probably lots of it if taken seriously. And as we have seen him practically living in L.A. during many months, and visiting New York, and once also the Bahamas (all with picture proof) he OBVIOUSLY could not have been in Toronto on the farm at the very same time unless the man could share himself in two pieces. And superhero he is only on screen.
Last time I saw picture proof from him on the farm he was there with Bilson and his mother and therefore surely also had other things to do than learning farming from scratch. And soon after they had arrived they already left again. Bilson does not seem to like to be in cold Canada but prefer the warm climate (yes, another observation).
Time to take care for his farm he would have had enough though, as acting really didn’t keep him too busy.

I know I have no right to criticize other people’s taste in general, so I try to phrase it differently: A good acting performance in a movie is VERY important, at least to me and also many other film fans I know. Ts, ts… this can make a movie great or bring it down. The best script cannot hold if poorly acted. Of course there are other factors too but acting is essential.
Just out of interest, what kind of movies do you like? Just big “bada-boom”, lots of action, for your entertainment? Don’t get me wrong, I watch that too from time to time, but I also do enjoy a good drama in between. And even in action movies I prefer believable actors. But hey, that’s just me.

Question: Why should a paparazzo waste his time waiting in front of a house of an actress who is WELL KNOWN not in town but in Utah on a movie set? It is a huge difference if people talk about a celebrity (= HC), no matter if positive or negative, or the way you talk about a private poster over here (= ivyleague in this case). And this has absolutely nothing to do with free speech. Christensen put himself out there all by himself, he chose this profession and the “fame” coming with it. He has to be prepared to get criticized (and he is, as his own words once were: “I knew very well what I signed up to” (talking about the becoming well known when doing SW - BBC-phone-interview, 28. Oct. 2005). So stop pitying that guy. He had years of being worshiped and some girls even called him a “God” etc. - finally it is revealed what a shallow person and bad actor he really is, and now he gets the bill. That’s how this business works. You can fool the masses, but not forever. Don’t worry about him, he’s a big boy. He can take it. Smokes another ciggy probably and laughs about it while counting the money which is still around and gets in by cheap promo spots like the one he did recently.

Oh, and your theory about the paparazzo sucks. Don’t you think that professional stalkers (which paparazzi are IMO) don’t have any contacts at the airports? This guy makes or receives a call and knows when exactly he has to be at the airport. This surely doesn’t take him many hours sitting in a car in front of a house and wait for maybe nothing to happen. I’m sure in this wasted time he already could have caught some other so-called celebrity to get pictures.

I’m not surprised at all to read that both Christensen-brothers made parties - instead of working. Fits to their (new) lifestyle obviously, making holidays to recover from the last holidays. Yet another affirmation how right I am with my assumptions, so thank you. In this time he could have learned how to do some farming instead in case he was really interested in it, you know?

I totally agree it’s all about the money with him now. He can’t have enough of it to support some people around him and afford the extravagant lifestyle he has developed.

And if somebody says now that I envy him, I don’t. I prefer to lead a life giving me the feeling I actually do something instead of just hanging around. And as we see most times by his grumpy face, it does not even make him happy. (As smugness doesn’t count, that’s not real contentment, but more arrogance.) His money would in fact give him so many different possibilities to do something useful with his time, it’s actually a shame seeing no results at all.

@148 You’re so right, except that they aren’t even art merchants. They’re just merchants, selling their celebrity and increasingly, selling their celebrity that is solely based on being famous. She hasn’t done one thing that was good and he hasn’t done one thing that was good in 3 years (and a lot more that was flat out terrible.)

HC is a lousy actor and personally an SOB who lies about everything to everybody. The best acting he ever did was to convince credulous reporters from celebrity-exploiting magazines and dumb fangirls that he was really a shy guy who didn’t like all the press and just wanted to be left alone on his farm with his pet pigs. He is NOT shy, hasn’t been on his farm this entire year except for a very brief period early on (gets bored there after only a week), and loves pork. Has no problem eating it at all. He has the table manners of a serial killer.

Like I said before there was a reason ‘Higher Ground’ was cancelled and it wasn’t because HC was hired to do a job for George Lucas. Bottom line the sh!t sucked. Period. And I meant I don’t watch LAAH for entertainment but more to put me to sleep. That’s why I WOULD (but don’t) watch it before I go to bed. Kind of like why people read before they go to bed.

Right now it’s just attack of the MEANGIRLS. I used to see it all the time in high school. Girls would gang up on a girl (or both) because she was dating someone popular or vice versa. Then when they broke up they left her (or them) alone and went right back to being his groupie.

I remember when Smilehexe use to defend HC on these threads. Even when he was going around with RB but there was no confirmation on them dating yet. I called him a liar and she flat out said I was wrong. I said they were dating and I was wrong. Smilehexe, you wouldn’t have been so d@mn ‘disappointed’ (whatever) if you had have just listened to the few of us that were trying to tell you the truth.

I’ve never denied to have been a huge fan of Christensen for many years. Why do you think I am so angry and here at all? I just happened to WAKE UP finally. So no more defending from my side except the drug issues as long as there is no proof (yet?).
And if he stays with Bilson or they separate does absolutely not change my mind about him again, as I’ve said before: The damage is done, his shallowness and stupidity are more than obvious by now, and of such a guy I’m not a fan anymore. Plus, he calls himself an actor, and I doubt that people will get to see just one good movie with him in the future, as he simply wasted too much time with his girlfriend and starting other projects without ever finishing only one of them (farm, flying lessons, house on Bahamas etc. etc.) instead of taking any care of his basic profession, and this he did for many years, so it had to show a bad impact on his career finally.

The talk about doing SW to pay his rent was not mine BTW, someone else had stated that.

my man and i are really disappointed in hayden we are older sw fans and loved him with nat, we both noticed he has changed and feel sad by all this especially i do .. Its hard for me to even look at our sw stuff and like i said we are older fans. its also like he is shuting out his star wars fans for jumper fans and yet alot of his star wars fans was jumper fans to, yet i could not even stand to watch jumper because of rachel bilson i do not think she is a nice kinda of girl for him. sorry to say very disappointed in his choice and some of his new beliefs to. He’s getting way more wild and far more outspoken. bugs me alot. I really did like that sweet shy quiet boy he used to be.I guess people change you , seems like she has and not for the better either.
