Still I see some dissing going on. Why does anyone care if he is gay or not? It’s not like any of you are going to get him - men or women. I don’t really think people “hate” Went but it is true that many are exasperated about his extreme privacy.
Nobody expects him to tell us who shares his bed or how much money he owns, but a little honesty would be appreciated. He has given contradictory messages: “I’m gay, and I’m laughing at you as I’m stepping out with Luke” and “No, I’m not gay, the rumor is impossible to kill”.

This guy is mocking his fans. Not nice.

I do not mean to seem rude, but, it’s just sad that people criticize him based on his need for privacy - which I can relate to or his friendship with a gay man. Prison Break was at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles last night! Wentworth was there! There is a video & lots of great photos on socala.blogspot.com!

Some of you guys are truly mean! Saying things like Went is a showoff and not truly nice to fans when cameras aren’t around is cruel. How do you know this? Have you met him & he was rude? Were you around when someone else met him & he was rude? I met him & he was all kinds of nice to me! There were NO cameras around & it was NOT some trip he went on to meet fans! It was on his turf in LA so there would have been no reason for him to pretend. My friend & I walked up, said hi, introduced ourselves & he was all smiles. He gave us autographs & we said goodbye. He is a “what you see is what you get” person.

I know at least 3 people who went to the Paley event on Monday & the reason he did what he did is b/c security was rushing the fans out & not allowing them to take pics or get autographs. He was kind enough to speak to them & get them to let the fans stay! The way it was told to me, there was nothing pretentious or “showoff” about what he did or said! Fans were gracious! Besides, he’s still very much the mysterious & quiet person of old, but if he decides to be otherwise, he’s allowed to!

As for the show’s ratings tanking… you evidently have not been keeping up! The ratings continue to improve each week… check around!

Wakey, I had this nice (and I’m being very sarcastic) response all typed up JUST FOR YOU! I was ready to hit that “submit” button then I remembered ignorance shouldn’t be met with the same. So rather than blast you like I had originally planned, I’ll try to educate you a little since you didn’t seem to understand ONE WORD I said last night.

tvbythenumbers.com publishes a renew/cancel index. Prison Break’s ratings were falling and the site even had them on their “to be cancelled” list! But over recent weeks, that has changed. The numbers are going up & if you go to their site & check out the recent renew/cancel index, you’ll see that they even mention the better ratings & the possibility of another season.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that when I said Prison Break is not Wentworth’s show, I meant that other actors work on the show as well, so he shouldn’t be singled out. There are writers, directors & producers, etc. I wasn’t saying that Wentworth is not the “star” per se. He is a fan favorite and his character is the “base” of the show, if you will, but other actors like Robert Knepper & William Fichtner have very loyal fans who feel as passionately about them as Wentworth’s fans feel about him. So to say “he had to go to Paley to be seen by fans so they will continue to watch his show because it’s bad” sounds to me like you are putting the blame on him which is completely unfair… whether the show is bad or good, it’s unfair to credit or fault one person AND that is coming from a WEM fan!

So there, lesson over. I’m not trying to change your mind about Went, PB or anything else, I’m just showing you that what you’re saying is WRONG! You lost my interest in reading your diatribe on your first sentence.

Side note: I have yet to see any “mod worship” at excom. Nor have I seen anyone banned [that wasn't in jest]. There have been heated debates at times and certainly dissention, but those are usually taken to areas of the board made for venting/debating/arguing/etc. One thing about excom from previous fcowm board is that there is more room to “agree to disagree” with the mods and other posters and move on [or move that particular disagreement to the other board section mentioned].

I do agree, however, re the first incarnation of excom had it’s moments in areas that wasn’t specifically set aside for venting [and if one is sensitive about "bashing" one should not enter the area that was specific for it - especially if they are not going to read past and see that not all of it was bashing for bashings sake], that was off putting, but the new/updated site has moved beyond that.

But this is the interet. We all have the right to our opinion re WM, excom, PB, etc., to believe what we want to about them and more, and have the right to express them.

We can choose to read or ignore posts we either cannot decipher or just flatout disagree with and where it is pointless to comment further.

I fear we’ll lose sight of him when Prison Break is finished. He has not secured enough visibility in Hollywood. Producers and writers may think he’s Scofield for ever and will only offer him prisoners roles.He’s still hot but he looks older now with all the chubbiness. He may not really fit into the right category for romantic comedies anymore. Also his acting is not the best.

I’m glad that someone at the nyt is holding Barnes accountable for his hit piece.

About the nyt ‘public editor,’ who wrote the piece, Clark Hoyt — he is called the ‘reader’s representative,’ and he serves for a period of two years. You know what this means?

That the nyt was deluged with our complaints (perhaps some internal), and they responded in this matter. Way to go fans, people with common sense, and those that don’t want smearjobs and silliness substituting for ‘news.’ It’s a good day.

I’ll be interested to know, what Eric Alterman of Media matters will say about this latest turn of events also. Eric disagreed strongly with this hatchet job on Jolie and e-mailed Barnes and asked him specific questions, as he says did not support any of his claims. Unlike this nyt ‘public editor,’ Alterman openly stated his admiration for Angelina and Brad.
