Ellen DeGeneres to Sarah Palin: Shame On You!
Ellen DeGeneres voices her disapproval over Gov. Sarah Palin stance on banning gay marriage on a federel level.
On her talk show, which airs today, Ellen joked, “I told you all I’ve been watching CNN a whole lot lately. I’ve been watching it way too much I think because they’ve invited me to their Christmas party.
She continued, “I don’t know if you saw this, but Vice Presidential Candidate, Governor Sarah Palin says she’s that in favor of a federal ban on gay marriage. Basically wants to change the constitution.
“So if you’re wondering, I’m sure you are, how I feel about this. I don’t like, I don’t like it. I don’t agree. Maybe it’s because I’m gay that I think we should all be equal. but I feel that we’re all equal.
“I don’t know what people are scared of maybe they think that their children will be influenced. I gotta say I was raised by two heterosexuals. I was surrounded by heterosexuals just every where I looked heterosexuals and they did not influences. I mean I dabbled in high school, who didn’t? Everyone dabbled, ya know?
“People are gonna be who they’re gonna be. And we need to learn to love them for who they are and let them love who they want to love.”

you speak crap ellen. Just like the Democrats.
Wow, where are all these “right wing nobama” trolls manifesting to JustJared all of a sudden coming from? Must of been google alerts for ’sarah palin’ calling.
Didn’t Joe Biden say in the VP debate that he and Obama were AGAINST gay marriage? I guess it doesn’t matter when the Dems say it, only the Republicans.
I don’t see how some of you can compare homosexuality as being the same as a racist. If you are a Christian, then you know homosexuality is a sin. Racist are just ignorant people who don’t know any better. There were not 2 women or 2 men in the Beginning….there was a man and a woman and no mention of race. I like Ellen, I think she is a great entertainer, but I just don’t believe in same sex marriages or relationships.
You all know that the Vice President has no control over what goes into the constitution, right? Nor does, for that matter, the President.
Looking forward to having November 4 behind us so Palin can be put on a slow boat to (Putin) and McCain can go back to Arizona.
As a TRUE Republican, my feeling is that this is a state issue that should be determined by the state. A federal ban would be rather unconstitutional. If states such as Massachusetts—and soon to be Connecticut—choose to allow gay marriage, then good for them. If you don’t like it, move to Louisiana where it has been banned.
The issue of marriage has always been one that is managed by the states and the idea of creating more federal regulation is anti-republican. It is neo-conservatism spun off by crazy radical religious fundamentalists who have taken over my party with the help and crappy leadership of George W. Bush at the helm.
I agree with Ellen and Obama. Hence why this Republican–for reasons similar to this one–will be voting for Barck in two weeks…I think he calls us “Obamicans”?
At times when I hear my fellow Americans speak, I wonder if I was one of the few people awake in government class.
dear ellen: please learn to speak properly.
It is called Freedom of Speech…oh wait….you McCain voters don’t mind your civil rights slowly taken away or changing the constitution. I’m sure our founding fathers would be so prond…….not!
First off Bill Clinton signed into federal law the Protection of Marriage Act., not a republican and to change the constitution you need the President and 2 thirds of the senate and congress to agree and that would only happen if society demands it and they might if states try to impose their gay marriage laws on to other states, which is what people like Ellen are going for next. That’s the problem with gays they want to circumvent what societies wants and try to force their lifestyle on people through the courts instead of the legislative branch. Just like in England that has civil unions but not gay marriage Palin is all for civil unions, there are only two countries in the world that allow gay marriage so let’s not pretend that it’s a human right. Marriage has three pillars that have been the foundation of our society for 2000 years and has guaranteed the procreation of the next generation, the three pillars are, two people of the opposite sex, only two people and not between persons in your immediate family (sister with brother, father with daughter), now gays want to knock one leg of the stool and think that it not going to effect society for generations, next your will have a muslim or a mormon and some other group demanding to allow them to marry three wife’s or five wives. When you change the fundamentals of a society you don’t see the effects until generations later, like divorce were study after study now show what a negative effect it has on the development of children and emotional impact it retains on a child’s psychic even in friendly divorces or having children out of wedlock, as statistics show are more likely to be be lower income and less educated and the most drastic case is in the black community were 7 out 10 children are born without fathers and study show that has lead to the high incarceration, poverty and high school drop out rates of blacks more then any other factor. And no one is telling Ellen she can’t love who the hell she wants to, so please Ellen stop with victimhood mentality that has over taken our culture.
Hitler lost, this is a FREE country.
Worry about your own bedroom.
quit invoking Hitler. It’s childish.
Repubs stink!
For everyone tired of the Ayers/Terrorist talk, google “Obama DFT News”
I hate to break this too all the Obama supporters, he and Biden are on the same side as Sarah when it comes to gay rights. Sarah, like Obama, wants to give them the right to have access to the see their partners in hospitals and have family only information released to them. She will not change the constitution of marriage, which is between a man and a women, just like Obama. But come on, the media isn’t going to tell us that. Obama is a freakin lawyer, he knows how to present the wrong so right that we believe in it. I have gay friends and have nothing against them. They are all great, amazing people.
I believe the reason people in Hollywood love Obama so much they relate to him. Actors like actors maybe could be! Obama is a lawyer and his running mate is another smooth talking lawyer. Lawyers are trained to plead a case right or wrong. We find Sarah refreshing. I think people like Allen are using their plate forms to serve themselves…address their own issues.
SUMR, please elaborate on obama putting his money into the community. “paying for products and services” says absolutely nothing.
Well said Ellen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, shut up.
To CA:
Bravo! I am also a Republican who is voting for Obama. I don’t know what has happend to this coutnry; but certain members of Repub Party have taken a crazy turn that is so far to the right, it’s beginning to remind me of neo-nazism. I only hope I am wrong.
To Mo:
When you hire people to provide services and products, you pay them for their products and services. I don’t know how much plainer I can be.
To Ava;
Obama and Biden are NOT calling for a constitutional ban on gay marriage. That’s a huge difference. Ellen was right.
Palin is NOT A NAZI, she’s a God fearing woman that doesn’t agree with gay marriage. Homosexuality is an abnormal lifestyle. It’s wrong because God said so and that’s all. McCain/Palin 08 yall!!!!!!!
will some you just look back and listen to yourselves? love is love people i’m shocked to see so many people against gay marriage which believe it or not is still love
I don’t have anything against Palin, but I would never refer to her as “God fearing.” When you betray the trust of your constituents, I’d say that boat has definitely sailed.
For the LGBT community, this is a civil rights issue. They are demanding equal protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation. Just as other groups have fought for equal protection from discrimination based on race, gender and religion.
If we adhere to the principle of separation of state and church, then the state cannot ban gay marriage based on religion. Then what is the states’ reasoning for banning gay marriage!?! Why should equal protection from discrimination exclude sexual orientation!?! Also, why is the answer, for opponents, because that is how the law was initially intended? African Americans and women were not allowed to vote. Legalized segregation was law for many years in the US. There was a civil rights movement for voter rights. There was a civil rights movement for an end to segregation and racial discrimination. The views of society changed and the laws changed along with those views. We’re seeing a shift in opinion on gay marriage. Why shouldn’t the laws against gay marriage be challenged!?!
