But Jolie is much more, as she’s used her celebrity to not only educate people on a variety of world issues that need attention but also teach her kids the importance of selflessness. Now Angelina Jolie is shedding light on a completely different and unique issue through her role in Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, a true story about a mother who realizes that the child that’s found and returned to her after a kidnapping is not her son. As Jolie’s character, Christine Collins, searches for her child and answers to the fraud, she’s denigrated, ostracized, and perceived crazy by the authorities.

While doing press for Changeling, Angelina shed light on the characters she plays, the emotional investment she had to make, her definition of hope, how she drew inspiration from her mother, and her approach to teaching her kids the value of humanitarian work and helping those in need.

Angelina Jolie on whether her Changeling role was difficult and if she had trepidations about it:

“I did because it’s such horrible subject matter and it is my worst nightmare. And after I read it, I didn’t sleep well that night. I just didn’t want to go near having to think about anything happening to my children. I didn’t want to spend months being emotional about it, but I couldn’t get her story out of my head. And it reminded me of my mom, who I had lost that year, and it is also a story of justice and democracy and action. There’s something about her that was so remarkable to me that I wanted to tell the story.”

Jolie on whether this type of story is still happening today:

“Oh, sure. Look at Burma. There [are] many parts of the world where peoples’ voices aren’t being heard and media is corrupting and hushing someone up. Absolutely…”

On whether it made a difference that her character was a single woman:

“I think that was a big part of how they felt they could manipulate the situation and they had power over her. I don’t think they chose to attack her because of it, but I think they thought she was an easy target. I think they knew at that time women didn’t command that type of respect, and certainly some were more looked down upon and questioned at that time.”

Angelina Jolie on whether the character was inspirational for the audience:

“I guess in some way, but it’s also, for me - Or thinking of my daughters, I tell them stories that I think are the type of women I’d want to meet, the type of women - even if they’re silly characters I’ve played, like Tomb Raider, there’s something about that that will be fun for my daughters to see one day. And I like this person. I’ve never really played anyone who I thought was a horrible person that said nothing. I wouldn’t have much interest in that.”

We show them different worlds. They go to Cambodia and they help go buy candy and shoes and water and go bring it to the local people and hang out and talk to the kids. They see that the world is not balanced and they see that - they ask those questions and instead of preaching to them, we’re going to keep showing them and hope that that sinks in and that they will find in themselves a desire to always help and strike a balance.”

Angelina Jolie on the most uncomfortable situation while traveling:

“Oh, God, the most uncomfortable situation? I was somewhere where the local corrupt government was trying to get my passport and I was hiding in the corner, pretending I wasn’t there because I had heard they had a history of ripping up passports.”

Jolie on whether she got involved with charities to deflect attention away from her as a sex symbol:

“No, I haven’t done anything because of an image of me. I do what I want to do because I love - I’ve gone into the field years ago because I wanted to understand what was going on in the world, because I started to travel and felt ignorant and I love spending time with refugees. Selfishly, it’s the most I’ve ever grown and most I’ve ever learned, and some of the best times I’ve ever had speaking with other human beings. I love it and I think they’re remarkable survivors, and I genuinely, genuinely love it and want that example for my kids. I want to raise my kids right, and if there’s anybody who I want to be looking at me and understanding a balance of who I am, it’s certainly not for the media, it’s my six kids that are going to question what my life is about.”

On how she explains a violent movie like Changling to her kids:

“I’ll talk to them about it when they’re older because they won’t’ see those films. But they often ask me, and if they say, ‘Who’s the bad guy?’ Pax is very into who’s the bad guy, and we always say, ‘Are they doing bad things to someone who’s not doing anything bad to them, or are they defending themselves?’ ”

Angelina Jolie on whether she only picks violent roles that appear justified:

“No, it’s more complicated than that. My kids play video games but I’m not somebody that… in Cambodia we have rangers working with us and we have - I’m not somebody who doesn’t… I let my kids play with toy soldiers, and they ask me about war. My son recently said, ‘Which country is good and bad?’ And he was pointing to all these different flags, and I had to explain to him its from where you’re standing. I’ve got to explain to my sons the history of America’s involvement in Vietnam and Cambodia and their relationship with each other and their border issues. So we don’t take lightly war and violence and we don’t hide and don’t say, ‘You can’t play toy soldier in the house. And mommy and daddy have movies where we play these characters, but there’s real death and real life and real responsibility.’”

How is Jolie a political figure? She is a Goodwill ambassador and an active member with UNHCR. The crisis in Afghanistan did not happen in a vacuum. Yearsof bad policy on the part of the United States goverment. If Jolie wants people to support her causes, have gravitas when she speaks on behalf of the UN or the CFR, she needs understand the root causes and speak to those. Trips like these are well meaning but they do not solve any problems. Further, she recently hinted that she might vote for Obama. Obama supports the continued occupation of Afghanistan and extending the war into Pakistan. She also wrote an Op-ed piece for the Washington Post praising the occupation.

This is a committment well beyond photo ops but the questions are 1.) Is she for war as a solution to internal conflicts, 2.) is she doing more harm than good?

Pitt generously gave money to the No on Proposition 8 in California. That’s to his credit. However, he has established an organization which promotes an invasion by the United States government into Darfur. That is unacceptable to those who support peace and non-intervention.

Co-hosted by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNHCR, the event will bring government ministries and donors together to see how the country’s absorption capacity can best be strengthened to support further repatriation.

The award-winning American actress is familiar with UNHCR’s Afghan operation, having twice visited Pakistan in recent years to see Afghan refugees there. But the visit on Wednesday and Thursday was her first to Afghanistan to see the reintegration challenges inside the country.

“The courage, resilience and quiet dignity of returnee families rebuilding their lives against the kind of adversity few of us can imagine shows the human spirit at its best,” Jolie said after visiting a number of sites.

Angelina Makes Humanitarian Trip to Afghanistan

While Angelina Jolie can’t walk the streets of just about any city in the world without making headlines, the superstar actress managed to fly under the media’s radar for two days this week when she spent two days visiting returning refugees in Afghanistan.

Angie, a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN’s refugee agency, spent Wednesday and Thursday of this week touring Afghanistan for the first time to meet and talk to former Afghan refugees as they attempt to reintegrate themselves into the country they once called home.

“The courage, resilience and quiet dignity of returnee families rebuilding their lives against the kind of adversity few of us can imagine shows the human spirit at its best,” says Angelina in a statement on the website for the UNHCR.

On Wednesday, the Oscar-winner visited the Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, home to 20 percent of those who have returned since the Taliban was removed from power in 2002. Here, Angelina got to see first-hand how the large influx of returnees — 850,000 in Nangarhar alone — has caused a drain on much-needed resources.

And then on Thursday, Angie travelled to the capital city of Kabul, where the population has tripled in recent years, causing massive problems with the city’s ill-prepared infrastructure.

“Afghanistan has been struggling to absorb these massive returns,” explains Angelina. “It’s understandable. It’s one of the largest population movements in recent history.”

Jen is all of those horrible things and more, if you are her fan, that says a hell of a lot about you, so deal with being associated with a shallow, ugly, looser who is wearing big fake lips.

Unfortunately the public have had the wool pulled over their eyes with it comes to the concept of ‘humanitarian’ interventions, which really, when it comes down to it, are all about power and economic interests. There are terrible conditions in many parts of the world, but you will find that only certain countries are only deemed worthy of US aid: those which are vital to the US in shoring up its power/economic interests. Ever heard the saying “there’s no such thing as a free lunch?” It’s true. And it’s the same deal with the aid offered in humanitarian interventions. It doesn’t come without strings attached.

I was at Target earlier reading the tabs. Poor old Janice Min. She really cracked me up this week. In this new issue she has apparently had it with BOTH Angie AND X. Why? Because…of course she has her “Angie admits to affair with Brad during M&MS” story, cuz that’s on the cover. In this story she accuses Angie of lying with previous denials of an affair. However, what she doesn’t tell her readers is that Angie never said she and Brad had an affair. She said they “fell in love”. Now to some unfortunately bozos like Min that necessitates a sexual relationship. She apparently doesn’t realize that adults fall in love all the time without commiting adultery. Be that as it may…so she accuses Angie of lying…and turns around and lies herself about what Angie supposedly confessed to. Then in a sidebar they’ve got a sequence of pix from the M&MS set to demonstrate Brad & Angie getting close. I know we’ve ALL seen the set pix so you’ll know the ones I’ll mention. Then next to these pix are pix of X at around the same time - usually by herself and looking pitiful…

1. Early January 2004 - They’re wearing the matching black & pink silk jackets, leaning against a trailer talking to some of the production crew…

X picture - X going to the “Along Came Polly” premiere somewhre by her lonesome

2. Mid-Feb 2004 - Brad & Angie holding hands and watching the rushes of the cantina scene. (The date on this is accurate. Those scenes were shot very early in the production and NOT in the March reshoots like some people here think).

X picture - With Brad dragging him to yet another “Along Came Polly” premiere - LA, I think

3. April 2004 - Angie’s wearing a black dress, her hair’s curly, she’s holding a script. Brad’s got on beige slacks. They’re obviously talking to the production crew about a scene.

X - Brad & X at Cannes Troy premiere where X is clinging to his arm like a limpet AND making a pass at Orly Bloom at the same time…where Brad amscrayed early claiming to have a migraine and pissed off the studio when he ducked out and left them with no star to parade around at the after party. Coincidentally Angie was in town with “A Shark’s Tale”…

4. Oct 2004 - Balcony in Italy where Brad’s fcuking Angie with his eyes…which you can tell even though he’s wearing sunglasses. Ray Charles & Stevie Wonder BOTH noticed!

X - Can’t remember what event this picture was for, but I remember her chin looked incredibly long…so much so I almost didn’t notice her schnoz…so you KNOW it was freaking LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG…

These pix was their big evidence that Brad & Angie where having an affair - 1 picture of them holding hands, on set, in costume. 2 pictures of them on set, with 20 other people within hearing range, speaking to a production assistant. And the eye-fcuking photo.

However…this is not the funniest part of this tale. On the very next page there’s a story of X and The Urinator re-uniting. And this is were Min says, “I’ve had it with BOTH of these b#tches, so I’m going after BOTH of them this week! This’ll teach ‘em to fcuk with ME!”

In the X story US speculates on why X took The Urinator back and why he’d want to go back. So basically they came down to it being that The Urinator is a fameho and wants the attention and wasn’t getting it anymore after he dumped X. But THEN she sayd, “But don’t feel sorry for Aniston because she’s just as big of a publicity seeker as Mayer is.” I was ROTFLMAO!!!! I should have taken notes to get the exact quote, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it was. MIN FLATOUT CALLED X A FAMEWH#RE!!! BBBBWWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! As irritating at the inaccuracy of their story on Angie’s quote was? This shite totally made up for it! LOL. Okay…I know not everyone will agree with that, but I’ll give Min some credit here. On one page she says, “Jolie lied about not having an affair with Pitt, but forget it, they got 6 kids now and everybody thinks she’s the bee’s knees and I know this is the most I’m ever going to get on her….BUT ABOUT THAT OTHER B#TCH…NOW SHE IS A REAL PIECE OF WORK!”

BTW - This story is proof that we need to STOP going to US and commenting on their stories. 90% of the material they had in this story is stuff I saw on their “Angie confesses…” thread during the week preceding this issue. They literally STOLE from posts that fans put on there giving the timeline for the shoot - EXCEPT they purposefully left out that the shoot continued with re-shoots well into 2005. They claimed the movie completed filming before the end of 2004 and that’s their “proof” that Angie lied about the affair. They also brought up her quotes that she’d never be able to look at herself if she SLEPT with a married man, she’d never be attracted to a man who would cheat on his wife and that she had lovers and didn’t need Brad. All quotes I saw used IN DEFENSE of Angie on the US blogs. They also re-iterated their claim that Angie was preggers before Brad’s divorce was final on Oct 2, 2005, but deliberately omitted the FACT that his divorce was officially handed down on August 19, 2005 and his single status restored - yet another fact I saw mentioned numerous times on the US blog. SO STOP COMMENTING ON THE US BLOG!!! IF THEY’RE GOING TO STEAL FROM US MAKE THEM COME HERE TO DO IT! AT LEAST THAT WAY JARED GETS PAID FOR THEIR VISITS TO HIS SITE AND WE’RE NOT GIVING THEM HITS!

Moving on to Lies & Shite - They cracked my ass up! They tried to manufacture a story out of that one line from the NY Times, story, too. And they spend 1 1/2 pages going on and on about that 1 sentence…and then they switch gears…to…the ending of Brad’s marriage to X was soooooooooo traumatic that that’s why he won’t marry Angie! ROTLFMBAOPIMP!!!!! I was fcuking CACKLING in Target! Almost choked on my gum. These losers have spent the last 3 1/2 years saying ANGIE WOULDN’T MARRY BRAD…and NOW they’re claiming it’s Brad who doesn’t want to get married! Seriously…are these dipshits on crack? I read Dlisted today and MK said Wino has been looking sober lately. I think that’s because the folks at Lies & Shite stole her stash! And their proof that it’s Brad who doesn’t want to get married? The Daily Beast, Tina Brown’s new website, has a slightly snarky essay about Angelina Jolie titled, “She’s Actually Smart.” It’s based on Angelina’s comments at the Council on Foreign Relations on Friday to open a panel discussion that I was on.

Well, of course she’s smart. I find the snarkiness condescending, a reflection of the general snobbiness in the humanitarian community about celebrities trying to do good work. The assumption is that if the tabloids have an interest in who someone might be sleeping with, that person is an airhead. In fact, of course, there are smart celebrities and dumb ones; there are those who try to rehabilitate a sullied image by feigning an interest in AIDS or poverty, and there are those who genuinely care. There needn’t be any pejorative presumption about a celebrity’s intellect or commitment just because he or she is a great actor. And on the whole, the celebrity interest in Africa and global poverty has been a terrific thing, and there are lots of people alive today because of their involvement.

Some of them also really know what they’re talking about. Bono knows G-8 poverty policy issues better than I do. Mia Farrow beat the news media in getting good photographs of the Janjaweed in Darfur. Ashley Judd has been to rural Bihar, India, to learn about sex trafficking. Ben Affleck knows Congo and South Sudan inside out. George Clooney has done more for Darfur than the White House National Security Council. And Angelina Jolie has traveled and visited with refugees and desperate people all over, including three trips to the greater Darfur area, if I remember right. That’s two more trips than Condi Rice has made.

(Note to stars out there looking for good causes: one of the great issues that is sitting out there, unclaimed, is maternal mortality — the half million women each year who die in childbirth simply because they are poor, rural and female. Oprah Winfrey has tackled maternal health at the edges, in Ethiopia, but it’s a vast problem that never gets adequate attention. So grab it!)

One of the perennial problems for humanitarian crises is that no one pays attention, and so these crises never get resources. That’s partly a problem of the news media, especially television, and partly a problem of politicians who just aren’t interested in distant problems that don’t have quick-fix solutions. But celebrities carry a spotlight with them, and if they can use some of that glow to highlight the needs of Darfur, Congo or Chad, that saves lives.

Frankly, if a celebrity isn’t genuinely interested in poverty and is simply trying to get good press, there are better ways to do it. Traveling to Darfur or Congo is dangerous, expensive and uncomfortable, and the outhouses have bats, scorpions and camel spiders. But if a celebrity is willing to put up with such challenges, he or she can get public attention in a way that no one else can. I once was on a panel where Angelina’s eyes filled up as she spoke of Iraqi refugees she had met in Syria; for anybody who was there, that scene was worth 100 of my columns. And ditto for her speech on Friday at the Council on Foreign Relations.

So let’s lay off the snarkiness. Until we have an administration that cares about these issues, we have to accept moral leadership where we can find it — and that includes celebrities who care.

Angelina is absolutely right. The US destroid Iraq, killed many iraqis, an caused imense number of refugees inside iraq and in the countries around it. So it’s fair to say that the US has a moral obligation to solve at least some of those problems. It’s not just a ” moral obligation”, but it’s the US best interests that those problems are solved.

Why doesn’t she mention the plight of the endangered when she’s on news programs or talking to the press? Lately all she talks about is how happy she is with the kids and the perfect life she leads with Brad. When she was disclosing how she and Brad fell in love on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith she could have been educating people on the situation in Afghanistan. I watched the morning news where she did an interview and not once did she mentioned any humanitarian efforts. I am leaning towards the ‘haters’ on this matter. She is a publicity hound. She slipped up in that interview and needed to get out of town before Brad came home and kicked her butt for exposing him as a liar and a cheat. Angelina has been going on goodwill missions for the UN since 2001. She usually goes on at least one every year. She’s been to several African countries, Colombia, Pakistan, Iraq, and now Afghanistan. She goes on her own dime and pays all her own expenses.

She’s written several articles that have been published in newspapers and magazines, as well as a book “Notes From My Travels” about four goodwill missions she went on several years ago.

Prior to this trip to Afghanistan, she was in Iraq early this spring while she was pregnant with the twins.

Because of her work with the UN she was invited to join the Council on Foreign Relations. Google it if you’ve never heard of it.

Now I realize you’re a troll and stupider than most, but for Christ’s sake, do your homework before you come on here again making a fool of yourself. Oh please lot’s of people do charity work in various countries but they don’t broadcast it taking cameras everywhere with them.
Celebrities need to realize when they ***** this stuff out for the camera they aren’t drawing any attention to the causes to get people at home to help, they are drawing attention to themselves. But that’s what Angelina wants. Why can’ she do this stuff wihout cameras? She’s just using it as an excuse that she can inspire people? Please the attention is on HER. Everyone here is talking about HER and has no clue what they can do. She never makes that clear just gets photo ops. She wants to be seen as this inspirational saintly figure and get all this glory. I hope you’re not as ignorant as you sound, clara! There are currently about six (or seven?) UNHCR goodwill ambassadors. Having their picture(s) taken with the refugees, to go with a press release, is part of the job!
Research has shown that people don’t pay as much or any attention to pictures of refugees alone, but they do when a celebrity is also in it.
Since AJ is the famous person she is, she gets a lot of attention, so the UNHCR must be very happy to have her! In fact, they have said that famous celebs have easy access to the media, compared to, say, a Harvard professor who knows all about refugees. The other goodwill ambassadors of the UNHCR aren’t very famous, except Giorgio Armani.

You have no clue what you can do???
What the UNHCR wants is for people to donate. You can donate by going to their site. Obviously the largest donations come from governments and corporations. The UNHCR needs space to build their refugee camps (shelters), and government assistance to resettle these unfortunate people in other countries, money for food and medical needs, etc. Obviously, people’s small donations add up. Every little bit helps.

So, clara, you get over yourself! Find out before you open your mouth. I’m sure you don’t want to sound, shall we say, less than smart, ever again!
Stop bashing AJ. She does good work. She pays all her own bills when she travels for the UN refugee agency and also makes large donations to their projects. Read her fact sheet. Ask yourself why you hate her, because I’m sure she hasn’t done anything to you.

Actually…my all-time favorite fake wedding story belonged to OK - where they got married in South Africa with Okra as Maid of Honor, Jon Voight giving the bride way, Porgie as Best man, Mad as ringbearer, Z & Shiloh as flowergirls…guests included Gwen & Gavin, James, Angie’s mother (cuz she was still alive at the time the story came out & even though she was deathly ill OK had her flying 5,000 miles to South Africa for the wedding!), most of Oceans crew and IIRC Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela! LOL. That story was just whack!

Taraji P. Henson’s high-profile role — playing Queenie, Brad Pitt’s adoptive mother in David Fincher’s hugely anticipated “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” — almost didn’t happen because of a garage sale.

Fincher’s casting director, Laray Mayfield, had seen Henson in “Hustle & Flow” portraying Shug, a meek, pregnant prostitute with an unexpectedly commanding singing voice, and decided to keep her in mind for future roles.

“Laray was in tears,” recalls Henson upon meeting Mayfield. “I’m thinking, ‘Wait, did she take her medicine?’ She said it was because she had found her Queenie, and we bonded. I do a lot of auditions, and they don’t necessarily go anywhere.”

This one did, and Mayfield told Henson that Fincher wanted to see her — naturally on the Saturday she has set aside for her garage sale. “So I go in kicking and screaming,” the actress says.

The meeting turned out to be a wise investment, more so than that $5 she would’ve gotten for her old CDs.

Even after Fincher asked Henson about her experience with prosthetics — a major component in a film in which aging is central — the actress still couldn’t believe she’d been tapped.

“I wondered, ‘Did I get the job?’ They say work begets work, and it honestly does.”

Henson says she and Fincher share a passion for determination and originality on set.

“Brad Pitt said that David is hurt when a shot isn’t right or something goes askew,” she explains. “He does a lot of takes, but I’m not a lazy actress. You don’t walk away feeling, ‘Damn! I should have tried it this way,’ because you did.”

She wondered if Fincher had ever acted because of the way he read lines.

“Sometimes David said them better than me,” Henson notes, “and I’m thinking, ‘Why don’t you put on the fat suit?’ He was saying things only actors know.”

The actress has had recurring roles on the TV series “Boston Legal” and “Eli Stone” as well as films such as “Smokin’ Aces” (2006) and “Talk to Me” (2007) and believes that two things distinguish all her work: originality and heart.

“I’m naturally a very colorful person,” she says. “Even if the character was dull, I would make her colorful. I’ve played a lot of stereotypical characters, but I’ve made them real. People sometimes ask me, ‘Why would you want to plays these types?’ These people exist. People don’t just grow up and say, ‘I want to be a prostitute.’ Life throws curveballs. I want people to empathize with my characters, not judge them.”

If Angelina wanted a photo op why go to Afghanistan - one of the most dangerous countries in the world? A trip to a war torn country which will barely be reported by the mainstream media and largely ignored by the tabloid media.

Consider this - at the same time she was in Afghanistan, the Los Angeles premiere of Changeling was taking place. If she was after a photo op, don’t you think she would have been walking the red carpet in Los Angeles rather than spending time with some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world, in one of the harshest countries in the world?

Do you think if she wanted publicity she would have promoted this trip last week when she was on the Today show? Have you simpletons even bothered to watch the video of her visit? Do you understand the reason the UNHCR videos such visits is to garner attention for their cause? Do you need it explained as to why gaining attention for a cause is important? Are you really that stupid?

Are your hearts so cold that you feel no compassion for the Afghans who have lived in fear and misery for generations - instead you would rather put the boot into someone who is trying to do her bit to help?

Why all the whining about how much money Angelina has and how she goes home to her mansion whilst so many people in the world have nothing at all? She made her fortune through legitimate means, why should she feel ashamed of it? Why shouldn’t she enjoy her wealth? Just because she lives in luxury doesn’t mean her compassion for those less fortunate than herself is not genuine.

Angelina has been donating her time and money to humanitarian causes long before you half-wits even noticed - and she will be doing so long after you’ve lost interest in her.

I admire people who go about their work or helping people without needing to make a photo opportunity out of everything. There are a lot of stars that donate money and do goodwill projects without making a big deal out of it. A lot of the comments on this thread are very sad. It shows how the human spirit is so negative toward one person who is trying to do some good in the world. I ask those that are so negative and so such hate toward Ms.Jolie. What has she done personally to you? Has she caused you any harm, made any statements about you or your life? Why be so critical and so negative? Yes there are those in this world who are less fortunate. Angie is just one person who is trying to help others who are less fortunate. I heard once, don’t recall the source, that the greatest joy and happiness one can find in life is to help others. All those with negative comments and hate for Ms. Jolie should use that energy for the good and go out and help someone else who is less fortunate. Direct that hate toward some good. Reading the posts at this site brings me sadness in the hatred that is being written.

The W magazine photos are great. I love the grainy shot of Angelina brestfeeding both twins at once. The haters are so stupid and hypocritical. If Angelina wanted publicity she would go to her own movie premier or to $30,000 a plate charity dinner. People don’t go to war zones or desolate places for publicity when there is a lot more easier and safer things to do. The UNHCR always releases videos of high profile celebrities. Based on previous press accounts Angelina goes to these camps for hours. In the middle east it’s customary for women to cover there heads and body (show no skin). Calling what Angelina’s wearing a costume is ignorant. It’s amusing how Angelina’s charity work is always dismissed as famewhoring or publicity stunt but nobody ever objects to Oprah or Bono for doing the same type of work. It’s incredibly stupid to demand that Angelina give up her career and lifestyle but as mentioned Bono, Oprah, etc don’t have to change a thing about how they live.

I started reading posts on this and the one that stood out to me was the one from Cliniqua stating that we wouldn’t know about the refugees if it wasn’t for Angelina. Well there is this thing called the news that tells you all about them. If this woman gave up her lifestyle & her money to these people, I could commend her. BUt basically, she puts on her Holloween costume, gets her picture taken & goes back to her mansion. It is truly disgusting. How about she goes there with supplies and keeps it to herself? I wonder if she practices her sad face in the mirror before she goes. How about she takes some of these refugees home? What I find truly amazing is some people comparing her to Mother Teresa which is kind of blasphemous. Lets see mother Teresa gave up her whole life and lived with the poor and personally tended to their needs while living as one of them. Angelina is living in sin with 6 children, does not have the decency to even get married and lives one of the most lavish lifestyles with nannies, cooks, servants, private planes, etc. etc.. Truly I think she believes in HERSELF and that she has deluded herself into thinking she is the saviour of the Universe. What is sad is that there are people who actually believe her, like on this website. And what stands out to me is that these “fans” cannot quit their obsession with Jennifer Aniston and have to malign her to make themselves feel better about their idol. I have come to the conclusion that these rabid fans pretty much all must be cheaters themselves and sleep with married men and that is why they worship this woman because they are just like her.

Who do you think you are, who thinks your commendation for Angelina counts? You are the one who is deluding yourself into thinking that Angelina has the obligation to you to live her life according to what you think is right. What a sick mind you have!

While I have a great respect for Mother Theresa, I think the comparison is not unequal. I would even say, Mother Theresa was not used to luxury in life and to a celebrity lifestyle, so, it might not have been a great adjustment to her to serve the poor. Angelina is living a life of a celebrity and a luxurious lifestyle, and it would just be sooooooooo comfortable to leave it that way!!!!!! and it is difficult and incomprehensible for people like her, perhaps to think about poverty and human sufferings given the luxury around them, yet….. she consciously choose to be involved in these causes. And it is not because she wants attention. The camera wants the famous face and name of her. It is not because of any negative meaning a lot of hatred-filled people here tried to convey. It is because she has a good heart and can’t stand human suffering, and she is intellegent enough to use her celebrity status and money to help those whom she can help.

What is marriage anyway? Marriage is made on earth. Love is made in heaven. Only love should bind a couple. Those couple remaining marriage but already devoid of love is acting against the Laws of the Universe.

If you leave a spouse you can’t stand anymore, whose human development has turn a different shift as yours, then that is a very freeing and healthy move. Binding yourself to somebody because of marraige is against humanity.

Angelina Jolie as a UNHCR ambassador through the years , has been a vital force in increasing awareness of dire refugee plight in so many parts of the world. I can only imagine how every trip renews Angie’s dedication to spread the word and actually help refugee conditions not just thru basic neccessities but the importance of taking care of the children’s education. Angie gives hope and no matter what others say, she is admirable for her tireless efforts. She is the exemplary humanitarian who actually has first hand experience to see the suffering of so many refugees. Keep up the good work UNHCR and Angie!

I am reading the thread backwards and am amazed at the tenacity of the naysayers.. They are harping about god knows what when they could have been giving hits to Jen doing amazing things environmentally by riding around in a prius…
