Katie & Suri: Playground Pair
Katie Holmes leaves her New York City apartment on Friday afternoon and spends some quality time with 2-year-old daughter Suri at a local playground.
The mother-daughter duo shared a sweet kiss on the lips during their playground play date. Suri played with her stuffed giraffe and drew all over the playground with her sidewalk chalk.
Always the one to effervesce, Suri hardly has to do anything to shine!

If this is today’s picture (Saturday), it’s windy, cloudy and 63 degrees. Not too cold, but the wind makes it feel cooler. I don’t get why this woman doesn’t MAKE her wear a light sweater at least. She’s how old? Who’s the parent here? I just don’t get it!

Am I the ONLY person who finds it CREEPY that grown men are standing around photographing a CHILD while her mom is adjusting her pull-up? That to me is much, much more DISTURBING than a child outside without a coat.
I’ll give Katie a pass this time only because the stalkerazzi have crossed a line.
Like watching zoo animals, I find them fascinating but I’m no fan of the Cruises. In their defense, however, I must say Suri never looks cold. If she were cold she wouldn’t be playing and looking pretty happy.
And it’s a myth that you can get sick from being cold. Sick from germs but not from being cold.

Katie choses to dress her child in a Burberry dress with no undergarments! When my child was two, we would put an undershirt on her and underwear over the pullup. I don’t get the diaper thing.
Katie could put diapers on her at night time but at two years old, most people use a pullup when they go outside.
I have seen past photos of Suri wearing pants and a long sleeve shirt.
This is not about the child being hot or fussy about clothes because
fussy children usually do not go for itchy looking dresses.
We all have indulged our toddlers, gee I let my kid wear disney pajamas at the park once, but it was summer and weather appropriate.

Wow, 47 degrees in NYC and Suri is dressed for JULY ! This is child abuse. It is up to the PARENTS to dress their child accordingly, whether the child wants to or not ! I know they don’t believe in saying “no” to their precious brat, but come on. WHO are the parents here ? Come December when the snow starts falling, poor little Suri will be mighty cold in her ballet shoes, bare legs and sun dresses, slipping and slidding on the ice ! I guess the parents will keep having to buy BIGGER blankets to cover their child who REFUSES to wear warm clothes.
As far as the hair goes, it looks like they cut it short so not as to having to deal with cutting her hair again for awhile, since it was a known fact that precious Suri wouldn’t “let” them even cut her bangs.

Katie. If you don’t want to put on legging, since Suri is still wearing diaper. So I guess it must be difficult or just plain lazy to remove when changing her diaper, then put on some pants. While you are at it, give her a coat.
If Suri is going to wear a diaper, at least they could put some kind of outerpants on over it. Why not just put pants on the child. She might kick and scream, but she’ll get over it.

Tom and Katie are the best parents. They not only spend time to take good care of their children, obviously they also spend time to LEARN HOW to do a better job. The later part makes them better parents than other celebrity parents.

Matilda Ledger has the same haircut and I don’t hear anybody saying anything bad about her or Michelle Williams. It is called a “bob” not a “bowl cut”. I think Suri is very cute and she is 2 years old, it takes a really “big person” to talk bad and call a 2 year old ugly. I hope it makes you all feel better about yourself!

I don’t like TomKat, but why the hostility because this not yet three year old isn’t in underpants. Girls are much harder to potty train than boys. Most of the kids I’ve dealt with were potty trained when they were ready (not for hte parent’s convenience) between 2-1/2 and 3. No child wears diapers to college, so I think all of you worried about poor Suri and her diapers are off base. There is a difference between potty training a child because the parent doesn’t want to change diapers and waiting until the child is ready. Now if this kid is in diapers at 4 years old or 3-1/2 years old–yeah — there is a problem.
Haircut makes her look rather creepy. She needs a coat and leggings, or gee here’s an idea: what about a pair of sweats, jeans, or casual pants?
And….I don’t believe in kissing on the lips. This is something a child should be taught NOT to do because it then makes it acceptable to the child for perv uncles and other pervs to kiss the child on the lips.

She looks adorable as always. As for her haircut, I think it’s really cute, but my gosh, hair grows back. Fast btw! Her hair will be shoulder-length again before you know it. It looks a lot fuller now, now that the ends are snipped off. When it grows out, it’ll be even more so.

My nephew had clothes issues when he was that age. He wouldn’t wear anything with buttons…he lived in sweats for 2 years ha.

I have kids. I took away the short sleeve dresses when it was cold so they would not even have the choice. Also with kids that age, it is out of sight, out of mind. Kids do not have long memories.
Katie dressed Suri like this last year in NYC in January and Suri came back with a bad cold. I guess she will this year. Also, CPS has been known to step when kids don’t go to school properly clothed for the weather. It is called NEGLECT!

It’s nice to finally see Suri not putting her hands over her ears or closing her eyes shut for once. I understand that the paparazzi need to take photos of her and if Tom and Katie are going to let them, they can at least teach her how to deal.
It’s cold - the dress is cute, but she seriously needs a coat! I know they have a blanket, there’s pictures of Suri wrapped in one. Wouldn’t it be a lot easier to just put her in warmer clothes? Oh let up. My child runs hot and would be running around with out a coat right now if I let him. Kids run hot. He slept last night with my house temp being 68 in his underwear and blanket kicked to the floor. But as a mom, I do agree she should at least have tights on right now and an undershirt. That is basic common sense. and to the poster who said girls are harder to potty train then boys I disagree. Boys are harder than girls. A 2 my son was still in a diaper, especially if we were out and about. Diapers are more absorbant. Pull ups barely hold anything. They are more for the child who is working on potty training and realizes to late and are running to the bathroom - basically they catch the “OPPS” leak as they are running to the toliet. I also do not like the hair cut - she looks like scary child now.

It was chilly here in NYC yesterday and even colder today! Everyone at the playground is wearing sweaters, jackets and sweats cause it was COLD, yet her mother is too stupid to put a jacket and pants on her. That’s sad.
Then there’s the haircut. OMG. Could they have given her a worse haircut. LOL! That poor kid.

I think in a few week Suri will see her FIRST SNOW and I would not
be surprised if they let her go out without a coat. By then she should
be bundled up in a coat, mitten, stockings, etc. All those things will
be a FIGHT with Suri. Too bad! Who’s the parent?
Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money”. I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on a Obama tie, again I laughed - just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need - the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
In a few weeks, Suri will see her FIRST SNOW. I hope they dress
her appropriately for it: coat, mitten, scraf, hat, etc. But I bet TOMKAT
will have to battle with Suri to wear these things. When she was younger, Suri was seen wearing coats, stockings, socks, shoes,
etc. What changed? She started talking and they started listening.
Could Katie Holmes be more incapable or more idiotic? She needs a coat but her baby is in a summer dress with bare legs, no undershirt and no socks. I don’t think they are mistreating her. But they sure as hell are overindulging her. A two year old doesn’t get to decide what she will wear indoors or outdoors, or whether she will take a nap or not, or when she will go to bed. Her parents make those decisions for her at that age. That is why they are parents.
Katie seems to be a narcissistic parent who uses Suri as a little doll to dress up. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t put a coat on Suri — if she did, nobody would see all those cute little designer dresses.

Dipshit, it’s cold in NYC. Look at other people in the pictures (including this child’s mother). They’re all dressed for a cold, or at least chilly, day. Maybe Suri doesn’t want to put on a coat, but she’s just a child, and children aren’t always going to want to do what they’re supposed to or what’s good for them. Children don’t have the knowledge to figure out what’s helpful and what’s harmful to them. That would be the PARENT’S job.

My daughter likes to wear dresses, too, BUT in cold weather I put leggings or winter tights on underneath and a sweater over —It’s that or she doesn’t get to go out with us at all. Simple really.

I think people are overreacting on the fact Suri’s not wearing any warmer clothes. It’s about 40 degrees where I live as well and I’ve seen plenty of people wearing both t-shirts and winter coats. Each person can take different temperatures. I have refused to wear a jacket the last few weeks too even though it’s quite chilly but it’s very much bearable. Plus Suri’s playing and her mom’s there to keep her warm. It’s not that big of a deal. As for other criticism on Katie being a bad mother: every child is different and needs to be raised differently. I don’t think it’s fair to judge how she’s raising her child, it’s none of your business, and you hardly know the whole story. You’re basing your opinion on a few pictures. Come on, people.

Its not “too cold” for her to be dressed like that. I live in NYC and it is NOT cold today. Its about 65 degrees today, and if you think thats cold, well, there must be something wrong with you. I went out today and most people were wearing short sleeved shirts with no sweaters.

Just because Katie Holmes is wearing a trench coat doesn’t mean its cold. Haven’t you ever heard of “style”? When I went to Los Angeles, I saw girls everywhere wearing those eskimo jackets with the fur lined hoods and ugg boots and mini skirts and it was like 80 degrees! Obviously they weren’t cold, that was just the style at the time.

You do NOT get sick from “being cold” at all, you get sick from germs passing around. You’d only get sick from “being cold” if you were in extreme temperatures like 20 below 0 that would freeze you, but 65 degrees isn’t even close to freezing you, not even 55!

It was in the mid-50’s yesterday, and while many people like to wear coats and sweaters for comfort in that type of weather, it really isn’t necesary for health reasons. Suri appears to be happy and healthy and she doesn’t appear to be cold. So why don’t guys just leave them alone and stop try to create a contreversy where there is none!

You know, I really don’t care what the temperature was. If everyone around had on cold weather clothing, including the child’s mother, I’d presume that it was cold. As for the comments about letting the child decide, I can remember being at the park in the fall with sweatshirts on the kids, and them getting cold enough that their fingers were like ice and starting to cramp, but they kept on playing. They protested about going in even when they were rough and red from the cold. So don’t feed me the line that she’s obviously not cold. Children don’t catch cold from the cold; but if does affect their throats and ears (when it’s windy) and there are plenty of things that can happen from getting too cold, that have nothing to do with germs. As a mother, she is either clueless or simply doesn’t care. To be honest though, her choice in clothing for her daughter may be expensive, but it’s not pretty or sweet (in my opinion) for a two year old.

I still wonder wherer the grandparents aren’t putting in their two cents in on the way Suri is dressed? I would think that other family members as well would have seen photos by now too and would wonder why she isn’t wearing warmer clothes. All Katie has to do is have a few different colored sweaters on the car at all times, just incase they need them.
As far as the potty training, I think every child is different. I think that it may be harder in their case since it seems like they are always on the run and they have too many different homes. If they have a daily routine I think it would be easier. When they are in public, they have such a hard time getting her in and out of places that I am sure it would be hard to take her to a public restroom since everyone knows who they are.
Some of you people mention, that Violet is potty trained? How do you know that? Her parents carry her so much that I can’t tell if she has a diaper on or not?? Violet does go to preschool so maybe they help the parents somehow with potty training there though? Violet does seem to enjoy her schooling since she has a happy face coming and going in her photos. I don’t think I ever saw a photo with her ever crying.

They have to learn how to interact with others than their parents, otherwise life will be very difficult for them. My mother works at a daycare centre and she tells sad stories about kids who don’t know how to play with other kids because they have only been around their parents before they were enrolled in dayvare at the age of five. They can’t deal with not being the centre of attention, they don’t know how to share toys with other kids, they freak out if another kid plays a little rough or take their toy and they get frustrated easily, and when they do they fight or bite

She is a pretty cold, emotionless child by the looks of it. And in some pictures even appears a little aggressive. She laughs occasionally, but even then there is a touch of aggression in her expression from the furling of her eyebrows. Violet Affleck, Shiloh Pitt, Zahara Pitt, Matilda Ledger for example all seem like contented, happy children. But there is something not quite right with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes child. And considering the psychotic behaviour of Tom’s at the beginning of this venture - the completely over the top declarations of LOVVVVVVVVE (punching the air, teeth bared, while his face reddened and large neck veins bulged angrily) is it any wonder the outcome is kind of disturbing? This venture of Tom’s is all about power and Tom’s megalomania and nothing to do with love.
I don’t usually respond to all of the comments on this board but it is getting so absurd on here lately. I live in southern California so I don’t know what the weather was like in NYC that day but I think that every parent uses their best judgement when parenting their own child. I just feel that all of this criticism is out of line. As someone mentioned, Suri doesn’t look like she is freezing and if she were she would probably asked to be picked up so she could at least be wrapped in the blanket. I enjoy coming on this board and looking at all of the pix but the comments are just getting spiteful. Call CPS because Suri doesn’t have a coat on? I am pretty sure that CPS has more important cases to look into like sexual molestation, physical violence, etc. It is not a crime to take your child to a park w/o a coat! What we see is just a snapshot of their lives. We don’t know them as parents and I am sure they are doing the best that they know how to do. 2) I was in the park a few weeks ago when Holmes appeared. Holmes seems to knows nothing of parenting and the child has problems with interaction. I will say that the problem seems to be the mother. It’s obvious the child has not socialized with other children. Suri seemed to be in awe of other children and Holmes wouldn’t let her talk to the other children. My child simply said she was “a weird girl.”

If Suri chooses not to be a Scientologist when she grows up, she will be shunned and disconnected from her parents, sister and brother and rest of the Cruise family who remain active Scientologists and declared a “suppressive person”. Whether you want to admit it or not, Scientology plays a huge role in the lives of Tom and Katie. You seem to gloss over any posts that suggest otherwise, that offer proof of what Scientology believes and how kids and adults are treated.
However, Tom Cruise is treated totally different than others in the cult. For instance, Nicole Kidman was allowed to leave with none of the usual sanctions. Most likely because the “church/cult” didn’t want to bring attention to its more negative practices. Connor and Isabelle are probably treated with kid gloves as the church certainly doesn’t want to lose their most prominent member and one of their highest contributors.
This is a horrible excuse for a religion and you can excuse the Cruises all you want, but people who know the cult, who have been in the cult, who have left the cult, and those that have offended the cult and suffered sanctions, harrassment etc., can tell you that Cruise is an exception to the pettiness, the dark side etc of the cult. I do believe Cruise is a hands on parent and loves all of his kids–I don’t believe he would sanction them being beaten, worked 12-20 hours a day on Scientology projects etc.
If you are truly a TomKat fanatic, then you should know everything about their religion (and I use that word sarcastically) before you criticize folks for referring to the cult no matter how ridiculous you think it is. Some of these folks know exactly where he is coming from, where he was at, and what his kids are going through. This is a cult/belief that has formed the basis for much of Cruise’s values and moral system. And if you don’t understand the cult, then how are you truly to understand Tom Cruise?

I have some old magazines that show Suri wearing jeans and a heavy fur looking coat , she looks adorable. I really don’t know the reason for all dresses and no coat ,but in her little jeans and things she looked very cute.
Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money”. I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on a Obama tie, again I laughed - just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need - the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I looked at the pics and the video and what I see is a cute little girl who is underdressed for the weather and season (sorry, but its called common sense people - when it’s chilly, you put a jacket on your kid), and who seems to have difficulty interacting with other children. I also see a mother who has no clue how to handle her child, probably because the child is raised by nannies most of the time. Katie just seemed uncomfortable around her own child.

I just watched the video of Katie and Suri in the park. Katie looked a bit uncomfortable , but that seems due to the others around that she is probably Leary of, not due to being uneasy around Suri.(JMO)
I mean It is Suri Cruise. Say what we want , that would be some weirdo’s jackpot to snatch her . Maybe Katie looks tense because she is always on alert . I am wondering if Suri has some kind of disorder - like mental or something - I watched the video and the way she just sways slouching in an awkward position makes me curious…..but that is my opinion.
