You know, I think you’re on to something. I think Angelina so totally missed having a ‘father figure,’ present in her life that when she meets older men who appreciate, and respect and have her back - she just loves them - you can see it in her face, just this total unabashed respect and love. There’s something about the way she is around Eastwood, and Oliver Stone - you saw it with James Lipton of Inside the Actor’s Studio (and if you read his book, he fell in love with her too) that makes you realize all that she missed not having a permanent and present father.

What’s even more striking is all that Jon Voight missed not having her as permanent and present daughter. It’s sad. Just when I had hoped, Voight would maintain his reticence about speaking publicly about their status, which he has, for the most part been pretty good of late - when he talks he wished them the best, he wishes them happiness and health, he doesn’t make himself out to be a victim of them - but then at the same time, you see the guy, wholeheartedly become uber-public and a big mouthpiece and attack dog for Mccain. I bet AJ and James were like wtf??

Now I’m all for his right as an American to exercise and support his candidacy. But to play the Republican ‘pittbull,’ against Obama in op-eds, like AJ has done for refugees - literally turned my stomach. Not just because he is, in my opinion, on the wrong side, and tragically so - but mainly because I truly felt that his number one priority would be in thinking of all the ways that would better serve his becoming part of Angie and James’ lives. To me, it just seemed he was /is doing the opposite by becoming such a central Hollywood figure endorsing McCain, and doing it by slamming Obama.

Just when you think he might be coming around, the guy hauls off and can be such a perverse individual. It’s this instability, this drama queen aspect of his personality that makes her wary of him - she knows she can’t really count on him to do the right thing. It’s almost like he does these things deliberately to make his kids shy away from him. Like take all those outings with the blonde ‘goddaughter,’ in her early twenties. If you are interested in makinga mends with your estranged daughter and son, do you constantly go on public appearances with some girl whose trying to desperately make it in the business. Do you think that’s the way to get closer to your OWN kids, who you abandoned and who you deliberately gave middle names to use as last names, so that they wouldn’t be dependent on your fame to get in the door. Yet you are literally pulling strings and working your asss off for some young blonde?? Yeah, that will get you closer to your grandkids Jon Voight. LOL

That’s why I think when Angelina meets older men, that she respects and can count on, or Brad, the man she respects and is in love with that she knows she can count on - she is just head over heels. It’s apparent in her face - you just see all this love shining out. It must be heady for Clint, Brad and anyone who knows how to treat her.

It’s a shame that Voight will probably never experience it.

Just read back on the thread and such vile in the wee hours.. you just know its Halloween season. IIRC, there was mention by QT himself that due to some festival in Germany, shooting had to be delayed a few days.. so maybe Brad and the kids are here with her.. They probably wil be out voting today and then zip.. outtahere.

She was in Afghanistan last week and had returned by last thu (Berlin to Kabul is no more than a 8 hr flight) morning .. she probably arrived in LA yesterday afternoon and given that you gain time while travelling west, she may have left Berlin on Monday and got here on Mon as well..

For all those posters indicating a trial separation, worry about Jennifer. If it is indeed true, the three men that Jen has lined up at her door (c/o Huvane) will also slip to Jolie. Now you dont want that do you.. and no, Brad aint coming back to Jen either.

That girdle is might tight on her. She looks great for having had twins, but change is a coming Angelina.

She may be the most photographed woman in the world. But even Angelina Jolie can fly under the radar.

The actress – who recently returned from a humanitarian mission in Afghanistan – made a surprise appearance at Monday night’s Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala, where she payed tribute to director Clint Eastwood.

In fact, Jolie’s appearance was so unexpected, the A-list crowd gasped audibly when she was introduced.

The mother-of-six took time out of her busy schedule to present Eastwood – who helmed her most recent move, The Changeling – with the director of the year award.

“There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they’ll live up to what we imagine them to be,” she told the audience. “And Clint Eastwood in person is even better.”

“Clint is what every great director should be,” she continued. “He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere.”

That admiration appears to be mutual.

As he accepted the honor, Eastwood noted, “Working with someone like Angelina Jolie is a great privilege, because you get to look on that gorgeous beauty every day. And she’s a great talent.”

The two walked arm-in-arm from the stage. Then Jolie, wearing a floor-sweeping black gown and minimal makeup, slipped out of the event as stealthily as she’d arrived.

Changeling is starting this weekend. The whole family is going to see it. I can’t wait.
