as a parent and after dozens of books on baby parenting, I followed some advices in the books. People around me did not understand what I did. But these practices paid a lot. and not every baby is smiley. a smiley baby is also a resulf of some practices. I am sure Tom knows more about parenting than most of you even though he is not a perfect parent, because no one is.

Has anybody considered that Katie just doesn’t care about Suri anymore..especially if she has recently discovered that Suri is autistic. Maybe she just doesn’t want an autistic child??? I know that is hard for the decent people here to comprehend, but it does happen.

I just saw the video. Katie doesn’t know how to be a mother. Her actions look like someone who has just encountered Suri for the first time and has never dealt with children before. Katie is acting really weird because she is being photographed by the paps.

I noticed several things in that video:

1) Every single child in that playground except for Suri, and all the adults, had warm clothes on.

2) Katie doesn’t relate to Suri. She holds Suri and talks AT her, not TO her, like you would hold and talk at a doll.

3) She doesn’t know how to take charge of Suri. The way she “tried” to put Suri’s sweater on was the lamest-assed thing I have ever seen. I’ve never seen a competent parent having a problem putting a sweater on a two-year-old. Katie lets Suri do whatever she want to.

4) Suri acts like she doesn’t know how to play like a child her age. She doesn’t seem to relate to people, only to things. The only thing that seemed to interest her was when she was banging a toy on a metal pipe.

I’ve said a few times and will once again, same as everybody….TIGHTS w/ A DRESS and one w/SLEEVES, always an TEE-SHIRT underneath on a baby or toddler and even pre-schooler, JEANS or COTTON PANTS, TENNIS SHOES or some other type of RUBBER SOLED SHOES! Now, it ws cool , fall, and raining in NYC. I guess when it snows, Suir will wear a swmsuit if she wants too. Also, she is too old for thesecurity of carring the blanket. Kids do have to be weened and guided. Have you seen the Sheen -Denise Richards little girls lately/ There is a pic of the mouth and both girls are carrying blankets and sucking their thumbs. They have some real issues there between a crazy mother and Charlie.

Everyone’s mentioned how Suri needs a coat. How about a new pair of shoes? Poor thing has been wearing the gold slipons since last summer. Katie doesn’t even know children’s feet grow. No wonder Suri is so peculiar about what she wears, when even her feet hurt from too small shoes.

Agreed, #185. Katie seems awkward and bored, like she is just going through the motions. It might just be self-consciousness knowing she is being photographed (notice how she doesn’t even attempt to speak to Suri the moment she starts acting up as though she doesn’t want to risk causing a public commotion), or it might be because she has no real warmth for the child - and is just fulfilling the rules of a contract. Who is to know? But as a mother myself, i agree that the behaviour and body language in that video is quite odd.

Even more interesting is the video of Tom, Katie, and Suri walking out of the apartment to the car. When Suri goes to get in the car, it appears that Katie wants to help. Suri seems to slap her hand away. Bottom line is that this child is becoming a disrespectful brat. This kid has seen and done more in her two years of life than I’ve ever over 40 years of mine. A question about Katie’s behaviour in the Central Park video was put to those of us who are parents, the point being that there are some things that will only be apparent to those with first hand experience. As a parent myself, i responded in as unbiased a manner as possible (offering both an innocuous as well as a damning possible explanation). Despite the fact that you are NOT a parent, you called into doubt the validity of my perspective. Because (it would seem) you are not willing to entertain any idea that is less than rosy about the Cruise’s. You are completely biased in their favour. Your default position is to doubt anything - no matter how little you might actually know about the subject - that might make for detrimental P.R. to the Cruise’s. All it does is undermine the sense of impartiality many have of your position.

When Katie attempted to put a cardigan on Suri (in the park video), she immediately started to bawl about it. I think it is safe to say that the natural, maternal response would be to try and negotiate with the child. “Why Suri?”, “aren’t you cold!?”, “look at all the other children - they’re all wrapped up nice and warmly!”. And as a last resort “Come on, Suri. You want to stay and play at the park, don’t you? Your arms are very cold, so if you aren’t going to put the jacket on we’ll have to just leave now”. That is the sort of response i would expect from a warm, caring, responsible parent. But when Suri reacts, Katie doesn’t say a word. She just gives up at the slightest resistance, taking the blanket and wrapping it around her before carrying her from the park in an oddly unresponsive manner. Very robotic! If that’s Katie’s idea of nurturing, no wonder so many people have commented that Suri seems a bit detached or dissociated looking, or as some people suggested, autistic. The outcome is that Suri didn’t have to do what her mother felt was necessary for her wellbeing, which resulted in her being bundled up like a baby and removed from the park and the outside world, and quite probably taken back to a palacial existence with her own, private, indoor playroom with all the toys a child could dream of. I suspect she is being brought up to believe that the entire universe revolves around her! :?

Yes, it is odd how detached both Katie and Suri seem towards each other and the world around them. Most 2-3 year olds live in the moment. They are happy and joyful and love life and are curious about the little people around them. Suri isn’t like this at all.
Most parents of 2-3 yr olds at the park are having just as much fun OR MORE fun then their children. They are living in the moment through their kids. It’s a wonderful feeling and I myself enjoyed playing just as much as the kids.
Again, I rarely see that with Katie.
Neither look like they are enjoying life.
It’s very sad.

I think it’s pretty clear that Tom and Katie are leading separate lives. They love each other, but just like Nicole, Katie doesn’t want anything to do with scientology. Tom loves her so much that he very much wants her to embrace it because he lives for scientology but he is also giving her space to feel free. She moved to NY to do the play, away from him but not for good. Tom will allow her a few freedoms and for specific periods but he won’t let her go. And he is using Suri to hold on to Katie. Katie sees and knows what happened when Nicole was out of his life, he limited time with the kids and is raising them as scientologists whether Nicole is on board or not. Katie would rather stay with Suri than leave Suri. Don’t you see how it’s stripping away at her. Katie is so the opposite of Tom but for him she is exactly wants he wants.
