Sarah Palin Gets Phone Pranked

Republican vice-presidential Sarah Palin found herself the butt of another joke Saturday afternoon during a phone call prank.

The “Masked Avengers”, Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel from the Montreal radio station CKOI, managed to get through to Palin posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

“I just love killing those animals. Hmm-hmm. Take away a life, that is so fun. I’d really like to go, as long as we don’t bring Vice-President Cheney,” Audette said, referring to an incident in which Dick Cheney shot a fellow hunter by accident.

“No, I’ll be a careful shot,” Palin responded with a laugh.

The prankster ends with: “If one voice can change the world for Obama, one Viagra can change the world for McCain.”

One of the most disturbing aspects of this campaign has been the number of females willing to join in on the unrelenting misogyny and sexist attacks on Palin - and before her on Hillary Clinton. These women should be ashamed of themselves. I am ashamed of them.
*******************************************************************************************

Oh honey, get over it. McCain has such a low opinion of women in general that he picked this bimbo as his running mate because he thought women are so stupid they will back anything with a vágina, and now you try to show he actually has a point. Comparing Palin to Clinton is like comparing Albert Einstein (Clinton) to a Alfred E. Neuman (Palin). I’m ashamed of any woman who would back Palin just because she’s a woman.

OMG as funny as it is… this is also scary. and whoever is saying this is sexist is full of bu*ll, come on now, she is up for the position of VP and she talks like THAT wtf, and lets herself be fooled, didnt even know who the Canadian prime minister was.. such a shame.. Palin is an insult to inteligent and educated women everywhere.

Though I can’t stand Palin - I felt her embarrassment. Than I remembered all the lie she spewed about Barack Obama “palling around” with terrorist and insinuating that he isn’t a real American. So, yeah I don’t feel bad at all. Her team is pathetic and so is she. Its like the blind leading the blind.

You can like her if you want, but people in USA need to be responsible and care about their countries future and vote with your heads.

“Well her IQ is only 83, what do you expect?”

I expect someone to know that her “IQ score of 83″ is phony

Right on the money #41!

She really isn’t all that intelligent, is she?

Women like myself are ridiculing Palin because she is not a qulified candidate for the position. we are stung by McCain’s insult to American women by putting this underqualified gigly girl on the ticket. I cannot believe he thought women who supported Hillary would turn to his ticket because there is any woman there. If he put a woman who is as qualified, as smart and experienced as Hillary on the ticket he would have had a fair chance.

Men and women alike are appalled by Palin’s lack of inteliigence and think she deserves all the ridicule that come her way. And to think she is dreaming of a presidential bid in 4 years….

Justify your actions and the contempt for women shown during this campagin all you want. It changes nothing. This is misogny pure and simple. Perhaps it would be funny if it were not part and parcel of the overall tenor of this campaign which was disgraceful in its treatment of women.

Since you also fail to grasp the reality of this campaign I’ll explain. It is pretty much undestood by those in both campaigns that McCain chose Palin to solidify the more conservative republican base which was very unhappy with McCain as the nominee because of his history of being on the outs wth the party. Palin had been on the radar of the republican party for over a year and was being touted for a bigger GOP role. Just because in your limited world you never heard of her before doesn’t mean others hadn’t. Her gender was considered a bonus but it was not why he picked her.

Showing respect for someone and voting for them are two different things - a concept which seems to be beyond your grasp.

In fact I am a lifelong Democrat who fought the civil rights and womens rights battles long ago and I recognize the ignorance and the self destruction of these gender based attacks like millions of other women do. Like them I just shake my head in amazement at the willingness and glee with which other females join in on the Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin bashing. Your failure to understand the consequences of your behavior is what we had to battle many years ago. Luckily for you we won many of those battles despite women like you.

Even your choise of words drips of misogyny - honey, bimbo. Face it, you’re no feminist . Sarah Palin is more of a feminist than you are.
Shame on you.

#58groundcontrol: I am a woman but being a woman does not mean you don’t have common sense. Lumping Sarah Palin with Hillary Clinton is a horrible mistake. Hillary is intelligent; Palin is not. Hillary has earned her stripes on the political scene; Palin has not. Hillary is a great mother by all accounts. Enough said. Politics is tough business. Equality means equality, not kid gloves for some and not for others. Is it sometimes unfair? Sure but that’s life. I feel the same way when people scream racist whenever Obama gets attacked. This is not sexist; this is just a clever prank pulled on a very dumb WOMAN!

#58 You are delusional (hopefully that’s gender neutral enough for you). Seriously, to whine about sexism over this phone call clearly demonstrates that you view sexism around every corner.

Palin is not inspiration for female empowerment and does not get a pass on stupidity because of her gender. And as a professional woman I find her flirting, giggling and nodding vacantly through conversations/interviews UNACCEPTABLE.

Thank you for saying it better than I did. As I told groundcontrol before, trying to compare Hillary Clinton to Sarah Palin is like comparing Albert Einstein to Alfred E. Neuman. Clinton is an extremely intelligent lady, Palin is a nitwit.

“Feminist” my ass, honey — I don’t have to explain my politics to you. I earned my stripes long ago and so did my mother. Like her, I am a professional woman and a college graduate, and unlike you, I am intelligent enough to know that Sarah Palin is eminently unqualified to be running for vice-president. I wouldn’t vote that woman for dog-catcher. She doesn’t have the experience or the intelligence to be vice-president of anything, let alone the United States. McCain naming her as his running mate was showing as much contempt for women as naming Alan Keyes as his running mate would have shown contempt for blacks.

It’s time for Sarah Palin to take her exaggerated ego and family tribe back to Alaska! Her young daughter who has been used as a babysitter needs to be in school with other kids her age instead of being hawked at the political rallies.

God, please spare us a McBush-Palin administration!!!!!!!

How on earth did she have this conversation without major alarm bells going off at several points????? Her ego is definitely bigger than her brain!

#58 Groundcontrol - you object on the grounds this is sexism?
I agree with you that women willing to step into the public arena often have to cop more than men. But in this case, it had less to do with her being female than about her being so gullible!
As I said above, how come alarm bells didn’t start going off at several points - eg. the killing live things, my wife is hot in bed, etc etc! If she is so dumb as to be taken in by this, what would she do in situations that require real discernment? Scary thought!
Also, those who live by the sword usually die by the sword. And Palin plays on her femaleness & folksy down-home ness all the time. She can’t then object when people evaluate her from that same stance!!!

Maude une québécoise @ 11/02/2008 at 7:08 pm

It’s kind of funny cause i’m an actual french-canadian and like our accent isn’t the same than the French people like sarkozy !!!

C’est drole parce que moi je suis un canadienne francais et notre accent est vraiment pas le même que celui des francais comme Sarkozy !

This is so sad. She claimed she worked on legislation with Canadian official, yet she could not name the Canadian PM, did not know that Quebec had NO PM. She also failed to notice that the French president’s name was screwed up or that the accent sounded funny. What a dumb twat.

canadiansuz @ 11/02/2008 at 9:32 pm

@Elise Le Blanc - Quebec has a Premier for the province like the rest of country (I think it translates to Prime Minister into french) but in english its Premier and english is apparently what this poor excuse for a candidate speaks - she simply has no clue. And for those people who want to cry sexism, STOP. This is about someone being unqualified - THINK DAN QUAYLE, not that she’s female. I wouldn’t dare compare her to Hillary Clinton, she’s not even in the same league. Sarah Palin is an insult to women, and I find it hard to believe that she was the best the republican party could do!!!

Even if she suspected it was a prank, its not like she could say anything. what if it had been the president of france or whatever, she would be screwed if she cursed out the president of france.

**************************************************************************************************

She’s not the best the republican party could do; she’s the best John McCain could do. And is one more reason why he is unfit to be president.

Are you people nuts? If she knew anything about Sarkozy, she would know that he rarely speaks English, and wouldn’t have come out with those comments. Ohmygod, she’s talking like a naïve schoolgirl. She also giggled when he said, “I just love killing those animals; taking away life…that is so fun.” She also didn’t know the name of the Canadian prime minister. There is no Prime Minister of Quebec, but when the guy asked if she had met his friend, the Prime Minster of Quebec, she said, “I haven’t met him yet.” This guy was saying things that were so obviously a goof, and she was totally opaque. I mean, “I can see Belgium from my bedroom window”? How could she fall for this nonsense, and be so incredibly clueless? Terrifying.

Amiga…

No offense, but are you totally gone? Did you listen to the tape? Palin knows less than my 16 year-old niece. No wonder they won’t let her give serious interviews. She is incredibly obtuse. The prime minister of Quebec? “I can see Belgium from my bedroom window?” She should have known it was a prank from the start.

The thought of Sarah Palin as VP reminds me somehow of that Movie Idiocracy. Anyone else?

hahaha very funny well done Canadians.

she’s so stupid!
