Brad Pitt is Benjamin Button

Brad Pitt is Benjamin Button

A motorcycle-riding Cate Blanchett holds onto costar Brad Pitt in this new still from their upcoming movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. (They both look so gorgeous in the rehearsal shot below!)

Benjamin Button, out Christmas Day, is about a man who ages in reverse. As he grows younger, his love (Blanchett) grows older. Here’s a snippet from the NYT article:

Benjamin, as he says in his voice-over narration, “was born under unusual circumstances” on Nov. 11, 1918, the last day of World War I. As the doctor attending him describes the strange little creature, “He has all the deterioration, the infirmities, not of a newborn, but of a man well in his 80s on the way to his grave.”

PT, he went to be on jury duty. Angie posed for a picture with the boots girls. They said she was very friendly. Yet when they reported the story to Outta Touch they reversed every nice thing they said about Angie and lied.

Some of the fans and I posted comments on their web site calling them dirty liars. They closed down their sit so no one could post. That is what I am talking about. Brad didn’t go to vote. He was called for jury duty.

Thanks. Between you and Guli the memory slowly starting to become clearer to me now. Yeah, I think they even had on their website that when Angie met Brad’s plane at the airport, he jumped in the back seat with her and they immediately started making out like crazy…and then they deleted that off their site and said OuttaTouch ended up printing that she’d taken Pax along to the airport with her to act as a buffer because they were fighting so much or something like that. I remember we all said, if they were fighting a lot, why would Angie even go to the airport to meet his plane in the first place? It was a clusterfcuk.

Hold on a minute. We haven’t even watched this Oprah show yet. We don’t know that happened or how it went. Why are we believing everything these so-called “boots girls” of Chicago are reporting? Aren’t they just another gossip blog?
Just ignore the trolls.

Changeling is a very good movie, and Jolie shows off her acting chops by submerging herself into the mother and her story. It raises a lot of issues, not least among them: Who polices the police?

#6 Brad Pitt

Brad’s striking looks and love life make headlines, but he’s also a good guy, more down-to-earth than seems possible. He picks challenging movie roles like Babel or Fight Club. Next: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

“You need a game plan,” he says. “You either succeed because people want you to or you stay around because you make them let you. I try to stay dedicated to my work. If I were to dwell on any of the fame and celebrity stuff, I’d make decisions for the wrong reasons. I look at my kids and realize that they will inherit this world. So, if you’r e going to throw your weight around, use it to make the world a little bit better.”

Taraji P. Henson In ”The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’
Posted Nov 6th 2008 12:45PM by Wilson Morales

Early word so far is the Taraji P. Henson could get an Oscar nod for her role as Brad Pitt’s mom in her next film.

Directed by David Fincher, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is a time traveler’s tale of the people and places he bumps into along the way, the loves he loses and finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

“I was born under unusual circumstances.” And so begins ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man (Brad Pitt) who is born in his eighties and ages backwards. A man, like any of us, unable to stop time. We follow his story set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be.

Also featured in the film are Cate Blanchett, Julia Ormond, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Tilda Swinton.

Paramount Pictures will release ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ on December 25th.

In an earlier interview I did with Henson, she spoke about her role in the film.

What role do you play in the film?

Taraji P. Henson: The name of my character is Queenie and I play Brad Pitt’s mother. He’s aging backwards. Everyone’s aging in the film.

What does the role do for you?

TPH: This role is certainly the biggest role of my career and most challenging to date because I age from 26 to 71, prostethics, fat suit and all. It’s a period piece. Early 1900 period piece. It’s incredible work. This is the film that I can’t wait for to come out. It’s the biggest project that I’ve worked on to date and that’s the one that will get me to the very next level. People would ask me, “How does it feel to work with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett?” like I would go ga-ga over it, and a little bit of me was like that and is like that, and at the same time, that’s where I belong. This is where I always saw myself, as an A-list actress. So, I’m right where I belong.

Though the production crew of “Changeling” used some digital effects to make Los Angeles look like it did in 1928, one thing that didn’t need faking was the traffic. According to production designer James J. Murakami, 150 vintage cars from 1918 to 1928 were gathered from collectors all over Southern California for the film. “A lot of time, the cars would be too clean or all cherried out,” Murakami said. To fix that, the set painter came up with a kind of carwash in reverse, taking the pristine vehicles and giving them the look of cars used daily with a spritz. “He’d mix dust in with water and spray it on,” Murakami said. “It gives a nice even coat of dirt. Or sometimes we’d run water over them to leave little streaks.” To further age some cars, a washable coating was applied to simulate rust and scratches. Much to the relief of the jittery collectors, the cars were always washed back to their original state.

Eastwood directs and produces conservatively and creates just enough creepy atmosphere and film-noir mood to keep the audience on edge. The attention to the details of the period are incredible, but at times it’s frustrating to watch just how slow law enforcement moved back then and how much more difficult it was to communicate before Internet, iPhones and Amber Alerts.

John Malkovich is excellent (and not his usual over-the-top self) as the Reverend Gustav Briegleb, a crusader against the LAPD’s incompetence and corruption who joins forces with Christine to expose their latest mistake.

Most importantly, this film shows what it was like to be a woman in an era when equal pay for equal work wasn’t even on the radar yet, when single mothers were often labeled whores, and a women’s right to vote was still very fresh. Jolie plays her reserved, strong-woman character perfectly, never taking her emotion over the top — which will likely get her an Oscar nod. “Changeling” really isn’t anything special in the genre, but it does offer some dark surprises and good performances along the way that make it better than many crime dramas in recent years.

‘Benjamin Button’ takes curious turns

Bringing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to the big screen required some serious retooling of the F. Scott Fitzgerald fable.

“It’s different from the short story, which was sort of farcical,” says screenwriter Eric Roth about the tale of a man (Brad Pitt) who ages backward. “I had to take a different approach.”

The film is still fanciful but is rooted more in reality, with the backward aging more of a medical condition than something magical.

Button is born as an infant who has the physical condition of an 85-year-old, Roth says. “As he’s growing as a child into adulthood, he starts out with the capacities of a youngster, and it follows what a normal progression would be. … It’s not too tricky, except toward the end of the story when he becomes a child.”

Roth, who won an Oscar for adapting Forrest Gump, says his take was simply the latest in a long line. “It’s one of these legendary Hollywood projects that took forever to get done.”

It finally arrives in theaters Dec. 25.

I see Porgie made the list. I read an article today that TVG is reporting that Porgie said he WILL make an appearance on the final ER ep. I guess he heard all his 3 fans booing while he was lounging in the Italian villa they paid for…

piper, with a low @ 11/06/2008 at 5:43 pm

Ah geez….

Looks like I’m going to have to school some of you again on Brad and Oprah’s history. Please skip if you read this before.

First of all, Oprah’s initial contact with the Brad Pitt circle occurred when she sent some audience members to Springfield to ‘visit his hometown’ (read: stalk his family). These ‘fans’, along with Oprah’s camera crew, ‘found’ (read: cornered) Doug while he was eating at a local diner; the dude was clearly startled my these giggly, overly enthusiastic women he never laid eyes on in all of his life.

Oprah invited Jane, Julie and Doug’s wife on the show (ah gee… why wasn’t Doug on the show? Any guesses why, people?); Oprah introduced the trio who were seated in the audience, after running the stalking clip. Oprah proceeded to ask the usual embarassing questions; specifically, she asked if she ever thought a child that passed through her womb would be named People’s sexiest man alive, as if that concept is something that all mothers wish for their sons. Jane gave the self-effacing response of ‘No way’.

Fast forward a year or two… Brad Pitt came on the show to promote Meet Joe Black. He just began his relationship with ___ and opted not to go into depth about it, despite Oprah and her audience’s prodding. The only thing of note that he said about her was that he met through friends; Oprah made a bad joke about it. When they did the favorite things segment, she asked him who was his favorite TV couple; he thought long and hard and then realize that she, again, was prodding him to mention ___ again and he obliged.

Fast forward to ‘04, when he was on to promote Troy; unfortunately, unlike the Meet Joe Black show, which featured clips from Anthony Hopkins and Claire Forloni talking about the film and Brad, this show was less about Troy, but more about promoting of Brad’s marriage. Why Brad went along with it… I have no clue; however, for those who pay attention, whenever Brad pours on the compliments publicly, the end is usually near.

If people’s accounts of the taping are accurate, any reticence on Brad’s part is less about Brad and Angelina’s relationship, but more about his relationship with Oprah. IMO, she’s back at stage zero, not stage one because there aren’t any ‘ins’ that Oprah can use to get into his circle anymore. It is entirely possible that this may be Brad’s last appearence on her show and it warms me if this possible last moment is not the homerun/moneyshot Oprah was looking for.

That said… watch the Oprahs with Will Smith, Tom Cruise, and Tyler Perry if you want hyperactive, overaffectionate men (read:pups) willing to lick Oprah’s feet. Oops… maybe their ‘fortrighness’ belies the baser things that are being said about them.

Look at this illiterate nutcase losing her mind, LOL. Freaking insane lunatic, completely obsessed with Brad and Angie breaking up. Exhibit A, post # 1161. Dumb as dirt and a liar to boot. There’s no new picture you dumb@ss.
