The director of the Oscar-shunned modern masterpiece Zodiac, as well as Fight Club, is attached to direct a film based on the comics-turned-acclaimed graphic novel, Black Hole, by Charles Burns. Brad Pitt’s Plan B is producing the project, but like DiCaprio’s Akira, no official word if Pitt is involved to star. Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman were set to adapt the screenplay in 2006, but no word if Fincher is doing his own thing here.

Neil Gaiman and Roger Avery Leave Black Hole

After two years, Roger Avery and Neil Gaiman (Beowulf) have officially stepped down as screenwriters of the big screen adaptation of Charles Burn’s graphic novel Black Hole. Gaiman tells MTV that when David Fincher signed on to develop/direct the project, he “explained his process consisted of having over ten drafts, done over and over.” The screenwriting duo were asked if they were interested in doing that. “And we definitely weren’t,” admits Gaiman.

Fincher still has their last draft of the script, but Burns tells Shock that the Gaiman/Avery script is “not going to be used.” And instead, Fincher has apparently brought another writer on to the project. But does anyone know who the new screenwriter is?

Set in the 1970s, Black Hole is a 12-issue comic book miniseries that tells the story of a bunch of teenagers who catch “the Bug,” a fictional, incurable STD that causes them to develop hideously grotesque physical deformities, turning the infected teens into social outcasts. “What we become witness to instead is a fascinating and eerie portrait of the nature of high school alienation itself - the savagery, the cruelty, the relentless anxiety and ennui, the longing for escape. And then the murders start.”

Paramount, Fincher catch ‘Killer’
‘Zodiac’ director to take on graphic novel

Paramount Pictures has acquired graphic novel “The Killer” and will develop it as a directing vehicle for David Fincher.
Pic will be produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and Alexandra Milchan.

Allesandro Camon will write the script, about a top assassin suddenly plagued by his conscience and a highly competent cop hot on his tail.

The graphic novel was written by Matz, whose real name is Alexis Nolent. The author works for Ubisoft, one of France’s biggest videogame companies. Luc Jacamon illustrated the novel, which was originally published in France in 1988 by Casterman and debuted in the U.S. as a 10-issue series published by Archaia Studio Press.

“The Killer” puts Fincher in line to make his third recent film for Paramount, where he helmed “Zodiac” and recently wrapped “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Latter film stars Pitt, with whom Fincher first worked on “Seven.”

Cate Blanchette is a good actress, and I love the fact that she and Brad have a great working relationship, evidenced by their numerous projects together.

-scene where Angelina’s character Christine Collins comes home to find her son missing, then calls the police……the tremor in her voice and fear in her eyes while she is speaking to the police was heartbreaking.

-scenes where Angelina’s character is roller skating at her job as a supervisor, and where she is walking and running for the bus…the way she’s holding her body….such an unassuming and humble way just like that of a 1920 mother, and where she is speaking in a small wispy voice, so unlike her own deep powerful voiced persona in real life and previously on screen. This is a departure from her normally overt feminine energy she usually exudes in films.

-scene at the end of the movie where Angelina is on the other side of a glass listening to the boy who escaped version of events at the Wineville Chicken Ranch…….at the end when he reunites with his parents as Angie’s character looks on, you see all the anxst she must feel watching them hug each other with love, and probably wishing that her son was there for her to reunite with as well……the look in her eye and the tears she shed were painfully real to me….and that breath she lets out was gutwrenching…..brilliant.

-THE SCENE WHERE ANGIE IS IN THE OFFICE WITH THE POLICE CAPTAIN TRYING TO TELL HIM THE BOY THEY GAVE HER IS NOT HER SON….AND HER VOICE TAKES ON THIS GUTTERAL OUTRAGED SOUND AS SHE YELLS….”I’M NOT RUNNING AWAY FROM ANYTHING…LEAST OF ALL MY RESPONSIBILITIES…I’M EVEN TAKING CARE OF THAT..BOY..CAUSE I’M ALL THAT HE HAS!!”…AT ONE POINT SHE LEANS DOWN INTO THE FACE OF THE SITTING CAPTAIN AND PLEADS WITH HIM TO CONTINUE LOOKING FOR HER SON…(TO NO AVAIL)….THE DESPERATION IN HER VOICE, EXPRESSION, AND BODY IS RIVETTING!

-THE SCENE WHERE ANGIE’S CHARACTER IS INSIDE AN OFFICE GETTING EVALUATED BY THE ‘PSYCHOLOGIST’ AT THE PSYCH WARD, AND HE IS TWISTING EVERYTHING SHE SAYS TO MAKE HER APPEAR MENTALLY IMBALANCED….YOU TRULY SEE THE EFFORT HER CHARACTER IS MAKING TO STAY CALM, KEEP HER ANGER IN CHECK, AND HER CONFUSION AT WHY THIS HORRIBLE SITUATION IS HAPPENING TO HER…..IT WAS BRILLIANT ACTING AT WORK.

-THE SCENE WHERE ANGIE IS VISITING THE KILLER IN PRISON, AND CONTINUES ASKING HIM THE QUESTION OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN IN VARYING DEGREES OF ANGER, AND ESCALATING DEGREES OF DESPERATION. QUIET DISGUST, TURNS TO QUIET ANGER WHICH TURNS TO STATED ANGER WHICH TURNS TO DESPERATE ANGER…..

Just goes to show Brad Pitt is the worst thing that ever happened to Angelina. At least with BBT, the tabs never tried to pin everything on her. And I don’t think BBT was sneaky with his PR the way Brad is and his people always throw everything at Angelina’s feet.

No, unfortunately I haven’t seen it yet. I had to work this weekend, but will try to go next week. I am so looking forward to seeing it, but I am sure I will be crying my eyes out.

I think you guys should resign yourselves to Marley and Me being a success. It’s silly to wait for it to flop. It’s a dog movie being released at Christmas. Slam dunk. My mom and cousin both squeed over the dog cut out at the theater this weekend. But it would make money no matter who was cast in it. So I don’t see it helping Jen’s career out much. Although, with how pathetic her other projects are, even getting a film to the theaters has to be counted as a success for her.

You missed the point of my post. My POINT is even when Pitt is the architect (pun intended) of this latest storm in a teacup , the tabs still manage to make it about Angelina and he gets left out of the equation.
