Brooke Smith Booted From Grey’s Anatomy
Grey’s Anatomy star Brooke Smith, aka Dr. Erica Hahn, has been abruptly pulled from the hit medical drama, reports EW.
In fact, this Thursday is her final episode. Does it have anything to do with her character being involved with Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez), Grey’s first-ever significant gay couple?
But of course. The mag reports ABC “had issues with both the explicit direction Callica (Callie and Erica) was taking and, more importantly, with the Hahn character in general.”

it’s not fair to her… they can’t just pull off people like that from the show just because they want to… should not have put her there in the first place…
Discrimination. I think this is a very hypocritical attitude.
Lots of american are puritan and conservative but the rest are liberal.
I didn´t like her character, but i think she is a good actress.
Is sad that a big channel can´t handle a gay relationship.
And to think tomorrow people can vote to add an amendment to the California Constitution to legalize discrimination…
Sad.
I never liked Hahn either. She was always so mean and rude to Cristina. And the whole gay relationship– it seemed to be all thrown together and shoved down our throats. I’m sure they lost a lot of viewers because of it.
This just sucks!!! When I first heard about the storyline, I didn’t really care one way or another- Grey’s has so many storylines going on, I wasn’t focused on this one, but I love the way it’s developed!
Hahn was a fantastic character- the “tough as nails” surgeon on one hand but also a woman in the midst of a sexual awakening on the other.
I wonder if the hetero male ABC suits found that a little too threatening?
Watching this storyline develop was vintage Grey’s on top of its game.

I hated Erica too, and there was no chemistry between her and Callie. I hope Callie and Mark get together!
I think people should focus more on how the decision has been made.it’s not nice to tell one of the actors one day “oh sorry, you’re last episode airs in 4 days”. i agree her character wasn’t likeable, but you would have thought that in 2008 people would be able to handle a gay relationship on TV. Guess not.
YES!!!!!! Just when I was about to throw in the towel with Grey’s, it redeems itself. I’ve never liked Erica, and the relationship between her and Callie just makes me want to throw up. If I wanted to see an explicit lesbian relationship, I’d watch The L Word. Words cannot even DESCRIBE my joy at reading this. I was becoming so outraged with Callie’s personality now, and I knew she wasn’t feeling the Callica. Call me what you wish, I’ve NEVER been comfortable with that storyline. But HALLELUJAH, THE CLOUDS FINALLY PART!! =DDD
i think it has something to do with nobody liked her. There was a poll with some magazine and she was by far the least favorite person they prolly saw that so they pulled her.
nobody liked her and i think that’s why. i’m glad she’s gone.
For the ppl who are saying that they dont like her character cause shes mean and rude to Christina, dont forget that she herself is rude and mean to EVERYONE, especially the new interns.
i can see why they booted her, she’s was an unlikable character at all levels.
cutiepie, christina has been a character that had proper character development, the viewer has been able to see different sides of her personality, thus they have been able to feel for her; not so much can be said about dr. hahn.

I really like this lady but her character was just such a ***** alllllll the time, I hope they get a nice heart surgeon to replace her
Shocked that she was fired. I hated Erica and based on this thread, not many people liked her anyway. So ABC having a problem with the character in general, not the lesbian relationship, may be true. If the audience hates a character, it’s not unusual for the character to be written off.
I was never comfortable with their scenes. I’m glad they’re stopping it.

I liked her. How come a woman who has an attitude and is tough on the interns and teaches with the school of hard knocks attitude is seen as a ***** while a man might not be? Not everyone is nice. But she was only mean to Christina and crew so they would learn.
I hate how ABC did this. Grey’s isn’t worth watching anyways.. it’s like Alias going in a downward spiral.. makes me sad.
