Carrie Underwood: No Respect for Celebs who Endorse Candidates
Country music superstar Carrie Underwood has lost all respect for Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney and other celebrities who have backed candidates for office.
While talking about the presidential race with TV Guide, Carrie revealed, “There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate.”
“It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions,” she explains. “I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to. Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it’s from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape.”

Carrie Underwood goes up a lot in my book now.
i love her for saying that!
i totally agree with her!! i hate it sooo much when celebrities r lyk o vote for mccain hes best or o vote for obama cuz he is better. thats soo stupid. idc if they have their own opinions, they should, but speaking about them publicly is soo rediculous. i agree with carrie 100%
She is a idiot!
why is it that every one BUT celebrities can express their opinion…well anyways….to me it realy doesnt matter if i see a celebrity endorsing someone….i think the same with a lot of people…in the end people are going to vote for who THEY want not who someone else wants…you know what i mean?
Well said.
nice
Um Carrie, NO ONE respects an “artist” who won a reality TV show contest. Whose respect is more important? Yours or Oprah’s? Whom will people remeber year from now? You or Oprah?
Also, dummy, celebrities are just people who are famous and because they’re famous their opinions are broadcasted publicly. They’re not saying anything anyone else isn’t saying in private.
Furthermore, people who are influenced by celebrities to vote for a candidate are likely not voters, anyway.
I disagree with her, not all celebrities are are urging fans to vote for their candidate. It’s annoying when people get all upset when celebrities say who they are supporting. Celebrities are human as well and if they want people to know who they are supporting so ******* what! Carrie get over yourself! Are celebrities suppose to not tell anyone who they are supporting just because they are in the spotlight and us regular people are allowed to say who we are support? I don’t recall Oprah telling people to explicitly vote for Obama, she is just one of his supportors and I think she has a right to show up at his rallies and donate money to his campaign just like any AMERICAN would support their candidate.
I AGREE!!! Finally someone famous that doesn’t try to push her BS on me!!!! She’s 100% right entertainment is there to get away from all the BS, not preach to me on who I should vote for! I am so sick of celebrities and their endorsements…it does nothing for me.
ummm she gets to get off her freakin high horse. EVERYONE is entitled to express their opinion however they freakin want. she just made it pretty clear that she is a mccain supporter, so i dont know why i am surprised at this ignorant selfish comment.
How’s a celebrity endorsing a candidate any different from Karl Rove making calls/visits to the homes of people to get them to vote for their candidate?
Sounds like a PARANOID Republican to me! Does she think Americans are so stupid & submissive as to be that influenced by celebrities? Americans are smarter and more informed than ever in this year’s election, and we really mean who we vote today.
FYI, music SHOULD be MORE than just an “escape”. What a dingbat….
oh god republicans are so annoying. why cant celebs have their own pinion! before they were famous they were everyday peple going through everyday problems but its like once they are in the public eye republicans feel the need to bash them and bring them down whenever they support a candidate….and its because they are supprting the candidate they dont like! anytime someone supports Obama, every single republican bashes them like crazy, but if someone supprts mccain, they are like ‘finally, someone with sense!’ like how hypocritcal can you people get. and carrie underwod is so effing self involed. fame went to her head in a bad way. she needs to get over herself and realise that the majority of the world could care less about her.
stfu bimbo
carrie underwood is obviously dumb.
she a dumb b*tch just like jessica simpson, go back to the country
Saying she loses all respect is going a bit far but I can see Carrie’s basic point about celebrity endorsements. Oh and by the way, public records show that Carrie’s not a Republican.
i just lost all respect for carrie underwood.
are celebrities not people?
carrie, that was retarded, they’re allowed to do what they want, just because most celebs are democrats, and you’re probably not, doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t support someone
She is dumb as shite bricks and average looking and she looks like she supports McMoldy too. Dissing Oprah is not going to get her any more fans.
Carrie who??? The only famous carrie I know (AND ANYONE IN THE UK FOR THAT MATTER) is SATC’s Bradshaw!
VOTE VOTE VOTE AMERICA, WE (THE WORLD) ARE WAITING FOR CHANGE AND IT’S IN YOU HANDS. DON’T DO WHAT YOU DID TO US 4 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE WE NEED CHANGE & PROGRESS!!!!!!!!
OBAMA 08!
someone needs to tell her what a b!tch that makes her seem like. stupid republican.
OK, I am going out an buying her CD today, I was never sure about her until now. I feel the same way and I love the fact that she has the courage to say it.
she can stfu, i guess celebrities aren’t people and are idiots, God forbid them from expressing themselves.. I think anyone (including celebrities) have the right to publically endorse anybody who they want and the ones who do it, use their celebrity to get people to vote but ultimately its up to the people to either vote for the candidate endorsed by that celebrity or vote for who they want to.. so i don’t see the big deal.
ugh.. okaay… so… she has no respect for 90% of the entertainment world.. great! who cares?! LOL
she needs to stfu and worry about taylor swift on her heels dismantling her “country” career.
Music is a form of art. Art is a form of communication.
Judging by this Carrie’s lack of talent and trashy opinion, she is not a true artist. thank you.
When did Jennifer Aniston endorse a particular candidate, she did do a get out and vote commercial but she never said who she was voting for.
I think she is cool, but I also think that what she said was idiotic. Celebrities have every right to broadcast their opinion as much as we do and I don’t think Oprah gives a **** about this blonde’s respect for her. Carrie try not to take yourself too seriously you only got where you are because of a reality show moron.
very well said, but i also believe celebrities could voice out whom they like just like any ordinary people, as long they don’t endorse them.
When will she stop criticizing others?
Everyone- celebs or not- has the right to express their opinions/preferences.
Somebody please tell her to shut up.
do you know whats funny? she is here because people PUBLICLY supported her!!! and then voted! what a stupid ungrateful *****! when it was in her favour she didnt care, and now that people are supporting someone she is agaisnt them. im really mad right now. i liked her until this retarded idiotic comment. she can go get stuffed.
OBAMA HAS GOT THIS THING WON! SCREW THIS COW!
On a serious note; is she saying fans of the famous celebs are so stupid that they don’t know how to judge a candidate for themselves and hear what they are offering America for it’s future?
Is she saying that celebs (who are people too), who also want change and difference in society and they world do not have a right to an opinion and to believe in their own country?
Another dumb blonde with nothing but air in her head!
matters, and all the people who say she is supposedly dumb, you are fools. she is right, obama openly supports obama. btw she was magna *** laude in college and 2nd in her high school class. its fact.
what a cow. why are all republicans so judgemental?
she has a magna *** laude from and is actually an obama supporter. and idiots, she never told anyone NOT to vote. fools. she just send she will not openly support anyone. stupid.
Jessica Simpson and Carrie Underwood are Republicans. It’s no wonder she would make a statement like that. I feel sorry for racist people that can’t except some one that’s different from them self.
I had no respect for Jennifer Aniston any way.
how do you know that she is a bloody republican? she never said she was, she just said she will not tell people who to vote for because its a personal decision.
RIGHT ON! TOTALLY AGREE.
shes a dumbass…. people have the right to voice their own opinion
celebs dont think people will listen to them
their just very excitied, so carrie i have lost total respect for you
you could of kept that to yourself
p.s. your music sucks!!!!
Uh, this is our right…celebrity or not. It’s just like having a conversation with anyone you talk to about the candatide you choose…you either tell them or you don’t. You shouldn’t lose respect over it! If you put a bumper sticker on your car, put a shirt on your body, or put a sign in your yard, that’s your perogative. I don’t think celebrity’s try and swey the voters, they’re just giving their opinion.
She must support McCain.
she has multiple grammys, female vocalist awards, and is getting RAVE reviews on her tour.
She didn’t mention any celebrity by name but I’d guess she’s specifically talking about John Rich, who’s been shilling for John McCain and even wrote a crappy song called Raisin’ McCain.
Look who just put her foot in her mouth!
It’s no mystery must country people are Rep.
But Americans are too stupid to make up their own minds so they need all the help they can get. One only needs to look at Reagan, Bush and potentially Palin to see that we need to do whatever we can to make sure Americans are pressured into voting and to stop them from using what they call their ‘brains’.
Sounds like she’s a McCain supporter who’s afraid to speak up. Why shouldn’t celebs talk about who they’re voting for *if they want to*? It’s their constitutional right. I have no respect for people who actually allow a celeb determine who they should vote for!
American celebrities have as much right as any other American…to express their views. Telling the public that they have no respect for others expressing their views is un American.
don’t know who the hell she is, but thank god! someone who at last speaks some sense. Not everyones fans vote the way celebs do, and it’s insulting to those who disagree. ‘It’s ok to take your money, but you are an idiot if you don’t vote my way!’.Politics should be between the person voting and the ballot box. No one else, not even your partner in life.
Ummm…excuse me but why would you assume the american public is so stupid that they’d vote for whoever Clooney or Oprah would endorse? Also, this election is the most important election of our time it has been infused in to every part of our culture, tv , news, books, music and movies. It doesn’t seem unreasonable that celebrities would like to be a part of it as well if they feel so passionately about the election.
Carrie Underwho is a dumb ugly *****
I am getting really tired of her and her opinions. Who cares who speaks about who they are backing in the elections. Her “little miss perfect” attitude is nauseating
Not sure what she is talking about with Jennifer Aniston-Jennifer did a PSA for voting..along with a lot of others.Jennifer has never publicly endorsed either candidate…Carrie is a tad wrong in that statement…or is that a Just Jared add on?
I don’t see any problems with a celebrity endorsing a candidate. Its the same as them telling us their fav food or ‘who they’re wearing’.
i’d rather hear about what other people (including celebrities) think about each cadidate than hear about carrie underwoods opinon on other celebrities???? Why does she have to come out and make a big statement about how she’s keeping her vote private. does she want some kind of award??????
and to #49… i have, in fact, never heard any celebrity say ‘you are an idiot if you don’t vote my way’ sooo i’m not really sure where that came from. i believe you are a bit misguided there… that’s my humble opinion…..
which i’m pretty sure is right.
Somebody needs to tell this twit to stfu. How dare she or anyone else tell ANY tax paying American voter that they shouldn’t voice their political opinions. What does occupation have to do with anything? This is a democracy. Does that idiot know what that means? Are we living in a facist state now? Maybe she should pack up her crap and move to Iran where she doesn’t have to worry about the luxury of free speech, and where she can live among people who have no real say in politics.
GO CARRIE!!! seriously, lookat all the celebrities who backed up John Kerry in 2004, all celebrities did just like Obama and look where that turned out
wow, i think i just developed a girl crush on her for saying that.
Who you vote for is a private issue. She is so right.
http://celebritytoday.today.com/
Celebrities should ONLY endorse VOTING, not WHO TO VOTE FOR. Leave the campaigning to the political parties! Celebrities should simply publicise the need to exercise your right to vote and that you should RESEARCH the candidate and THEN vote. Some celebrity obsessed idiots will vote for x candidate simply because their favourite star endorses them and you can bet your bottom dollar they will not know ONE policy of that candidate!
Luciana your on a celebrity blog like all of us, just saying… so if you think about it Carries message makes alot of sense. we follow and look up to these celebrities (some of them and having them put there support on a candidate in our face can influence us in our decisions, some of us at least)
If I, as a non-celebrity, am publicly allowed to share whom I’m voting for and to go out and work for the campaign - why isn’t a famous person allowed the same freedom?
Geez Car - should celebrities sign a binding contract that they have to live by different rules than the rest of us free citizens?
she is CORRECT!!! ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE BRAINS LOOK UP TO CELEBRITIES , AND IF THERE VOTING FOR ONE PARTY BECAUSE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE OR JENNIFER ANISTON SAY THERE VOTING FOR THEM, THEN THEY THINK…HMM THERE PROBABLY RIGHT BUT
FALSE…..THEY ARE NOT RIGHT- WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION DO THEY HAVE..ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS PRETENDTO BE SOMEONE THERE NOT FOR A LIVING…HMMM COLLEGE..I THINK NOT -TRULY EDUCATED ….NOPE….
GO McCAIN/PALIN - YOU ROCK AND WILL CHANGE OUR ECONOMY…..OBAMA WILL NOT AND ALL THOSE VOTING FOR OBAMA GIVE ME 10 REASONS WHY AND ILL TELL YOU WHYYOUR WRONG
LOVE HER !!!!!!! I think she is soooooo smart to say that THANK U CARRIE!!!!!
She´s saying that because she´s basically a Republican and supporting McCain..
She´s a rich spolied dummy.
She has great songs..but that´s it.
..everyone who is close minded is for McCain.
She just never knew what it´s like to really work…
Just because Obama will higher the taxes for the VERY rich..hell.
All those wannabe-fairlytale-families are so into McCain.
..and well..most celebs are for Obama..so she´ll lose.
LOSER.
F*ck the effin´off.
DUMP ******
thank you carrie underwood,,,finally, a celebrity with sense…the ads the celebrities made for politics were soooo stupid…jessica alba for one…why anyone would listen to so called “stars” I will never understand….people should vote for who they themselves believe in…not a celebritys view…
well now, I have lost all respect for Underwood, She is forgetting everyone has a right to an opinion It’s called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I see citizens on the news everyday giving an opinion. Does she feel being a celebrity makes her more elite than us common folk?
Hey Carrie - shut up and just sing. Nobody cares what you think.
Oh - and nice of her to publicly slam those Celebrities such as George, Oprah and Jen. I’m sure they REALLY give a !@#$%^&* what the blond bimbo thinks anyway. PEACE.
go carrie….I do not ever buy products endorsed by a celebrity…I simply buy what I desire to buy…I certainly would never vote for a person because of what a celebrity says or does…
Spoken like a true Republican. I think you just revealed who you’re voting for, Carrie.
Why don’t you go and stalk another ex boyfriend.
**** you carrie underwood. your an “im better than everyone” ***** and nobody wants to hear your opinions anyway. you arent even a real celebrity. you didnt have to work for ****. you were just the prettiest chubby girl singing on a stage.
Finally, a smart celebrity. I heard she is democrat. Either way she is CLASSY!!! GO CARRIE!
Celebrities are just that - celebrity zombies.
Celebrates don’t always influence us to go their way. I use to like Carrie now I hate her for saying that. So see she did not influence me to change my mind at all. I just hate her now for being so ignorant.
You lied JJ. She didn’t mention Jennifer. Anything for Jen hits, huh.
Us Weekly posted it, they did give your teenage gossip blog a link, however.

Carrie Underwood has a message for Oprah, Diddy, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and even Heidi and Spencer: Don’t publicly back candidates for office.
“There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly,” she tells TV Guide, as excerpted by Just Jared. “I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate.
“It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions,” she goes on. “I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to.
“Music is where you go to get away from all the BS,” adds Underwood, who recently apologized for saying ex Tony Romo still calls her. “Whether it’s from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape.”

Tell Us: Should celebrities endorse political candidates?
She is a bit of a bitter Ex- Girlfriend isn’t she? LOL.
I bet her people around her can’t stand her. She appears to be
whiny and spoiled. I hear more about her hostile remarks for her ex lovers & their girlfriends than I hear her music. Hmmmmmmm.
well said carrie. i couldn’t agree more. when youre a celebrity, it is ur JOB to be in the public eye. you wouldn’t go flauning a sign around your work saying who youre voting for would you? i think its very unprofessional for a celebrity to endorse a particular candidate.
but then again i think ur pretty stupid if you vote a certain way just because a celebrity told you to.
I totally agree! it made me sick when i saw an obama dress on the runway in a high fashion show! ARE YOU KIDDING ME PEOPLE?!?!?
vote for who you want, not for who the media wants you too!
Go Carrie!
right on! i totally agree with her. some people aren’t making educated decisions because they are inundated by celebs yapping about who we should vote for. hopefully, most people have the good sense to not let what some celeb says sway them.
Just Jared-why are you not telling the truth???Stop using Jennifer’s name to get hits…
Escape from music?!… this is TOO funny, but also shows how dumb she is… how can we escape from economic meltdown, guantanamo bay, wars with her song like “Before he cheats” or “wasted”?! Please, she is just here to make money and at the same time to say things on purpose to make herself look smart. Like Oprah or George Clooney needs her respect….
Typical twit…I can just take a guess as to who she’s voting for now…
People, Carrie’s in country music, where the big celebrity endorsements were John Rich and Toby Keith. They’re both loudmouths who support John McCain.
I completely agree with her. Finally, a celebrity who isn’t trying to push their opinion on everyone else. How refreshing!
Um well good for her except she has no right to say that when the other celebrities have more experience and have more talent than she wil ever have she is a one hit wonder, so I dont think George Clooney or Oprah gives a **** in what she thinks or me for that matter.
I think she’s not smart if she says something like that.
Celebrities back a candidate and say that their favorite is the best and they promote them but it’s not that people absolutely have to vote for their choice, people still have a mind and they can form an opinion on their own. Celebrities just guide them. But in the end it’s still the people’s own choice.
The Dixie Chicks were right ! Everyone has a right to express themselves. This is a free country. If she doesn’t like the way things are, she can always go back to Oklahoma.
I agree 100%.
I could not agree more!
I agree and boycott all those people who push their candidate down my throat. Needless to say, I won’t be watching Oprah, or anything put out by Clooney, Pitt, Jolie, Damon, and many others going forward. I pay close attention to who these people are.
When they tell me to vote for the other side, they also tell me they don’t respect me as a fan, a former fan that is.
utter rubbish. everyone has their own opinion…. no matter if they r celebrities or a normal person…I think she is one ignorant, arrogant n imbecile woman who dosen know abt politics or rather oblivious as to what she is saying and passing judgement on others is not her proffesion…… i think she should stick to her day time job!!!!!
She suports McCain and don’t have the gusts to adimit, she is so freaking idiot
I’m glad someone spoke up on this. All these celebs in our faces telling us to votes doesn’t mean ****.
I choose to boycott anyone who tries to push their candidate down my throat. Needless to say, there were a lot this year. So long Clooney and Pit. So long Damon. They won’t get another penny of my hard-earned money. They have their principles. I have mine. That’s the beauty of this country after all.
Thanks you… Someone who finally knows how to keep their mouth shut
wow this girl is so freakin judgemental!!!! does she not realise what a huge mistake she just made by saying that? she pretty much insulted 99 percent of hollywood. These are people who she then has ot see at award shows, perform to, interact with. Chances are they all just lost respect for her as well. Because I know I sure did.
Thats ridiculous. Why shouldnt celebrities be able to voice their opinions. They have a huge public outlet and alot of people listen to them, i think its great that they take advantage of that and bring awareness to the election. And i trully doubt there are people going out to vote for someone just because a celebrity is voting for them. Carrie think before you talk.
Nice. Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney?? WTF? Those two have barely said a word about who they are backing….why not mention celebs like Matt Damon and P. Diddy who are in our face 24/7 with Obama-ness? Or Jon Voight with his McCain craziness? I respect Carrie Underwood for what she says but I think Jen and George were the wrong celebs to pick as an example.
She is entitled to her opinion but saying she loses all respect is stupid. She is also overestimated celebrity power and calling people stupid.
She does have a point, but she loses respect for them? Get over yourself, woman!
Poor girl is bitter because John McCain is not going to be the president. LMAO.
What an idiot “There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly.”, WELL YOU JUST DID, LOVE!
Too ashamed to say she supports McCain ? I guess so…she does not want to see her records sale drop. Being an artist is having a vision, a voice and to express things. she’s just a product and proves it for good by saying this..
What the heck? It’s not like celebrities are holding us at gunpoint and forcing us to vote for a certain person. Any other American citizen is allowed to publicly support someone…why not celebrities? it’s not like it’s their job NOT to sway public opinion. It’s Americans’ job to be informed about the real issues and vote based on what they believe in.
And by assuming that the American public makes their decisions based on which celebrities back which candidates in itself assumes that the American public isn’t intelligent enough to do its own research. What Carrie Underwood just said made me lose respect for HER.
@ metoo
“go carrie….I do not ever buy products endorsed by a celebrity…I simply buy what I desire to buy…I certainly would never vote for a person because of what a celebrity says or does…”
OK–if celebrity endorsements don’t have an impact on you, why would it matter if celebrities openly backed a candidate?! According to what you said, it wouldn’t make a difference in your opinion anyway. There’s something that we treasure here in this country called freedom of speech. Who are the celebrities hurting by saying they back Obama, or McCain? Nobody! They are entitled to the same opinion that everybody else is. And it’s not like most of them are publicly slamming the opposing candidate!
Who the hell does Carrie Underwood think she is!?! Just because a celebrity tells who their voting for doesn’t mean they’re telling people how to vote. She needs to just go back to Onapa and help her grandpappy with those bikes he use to fix up.
#14: “Does she think Americans are so stupid & submissive as to be that influenced by celebrities?”
Sadly, many are this stupid and malleable. I have a lot of respect for her position on this issue and her boldness to call out other celebs on it.
I really never liked her but for the first time I agree with her on that
Carrie is awesome! I love what she said and I am SO SICK of friggin Hollywood telling me who to vote for! They are often less qualified to make an informed choice then all of us here, and the more they shove someone down my throat, the less I like that candidate.
Carrie is telling the truth- and some of you just don’t want to hear it. She is very intelligent, a college grad who graduated with high honors magna c um laude. So stop bashing her– she is likely much more intelligent then all of you bashers combined.
I hate when celebrities endorse a candidate. It makes me laugh. If Lindsey Lohan is going to tell me who to vote for, times are very bad indeed. NOT!
She is such an insufferable c*nt. Celebrities have as much right to publicly endorse a candidate as anyone else, and if their position also allows them to bring awareness to that candidate, then more power to them. I think people get pissed about celebs in politics because they usually back Democrats. I wonder if the same outcry would be heard if they endorsed Republicans. Is Laura Ingram demanding that redneck idiot Hank Williams Jr. to “shut up and sing?”
Carrie loves Oprah so stop twisting the facts. In fact- Carrie worked for a Democrat in college, as an intern… so I think she is a Democrat- so stop assuming anything haters.
Carrie is telling the truth– and you people are so filled with hate that you make many people want to vote against Obama just to spite you and your opinionated bs.
I am a democrat– but I am voting McCain, because I can’t stand the way the media, bloggers, and the Democratic party treated Sarah Palin, and think they are better then everyone else. I also think OBama is unqualified and inexperienced.
Either way—Carrie had a right to her opinion and I respect it. If you don’t agree– too damn bad.
Also—- for those calling her dumb, perhaps you did not realize that she graduated from college magna *** laude. Did you??? Thought not.
OBAMA SUCKS!!! And so do the rabid, hateful democrats that bash and hate everyone who thinks differently then they do.
The Democrats preach tolerance– yet they hate and discriminate against Republicans, treating people with different beliefs then their own as worse then dogs. Talk about hypocrits!
go Mccain!
This pea brain bint is just stupid really!!!
i agree with her ok i dont care if they do that ii dont listen i love her because of this what are celebrities thinkin people can choose without their help they are nothin to me they cant change my mind and she s not republican she s voting for obama but come on she s not a ***** because of this…
This girl is starting to annoying the crap out of me. First the comments she made about Jessica Simpson’s bf, among other, and now this. Celebs have the right to stay their opinion, to encourage people about politics, they have a voice and they should use their voice for something useful other than trashing other like she does.
she needs ot keep her stupid country mouth shut if she is only going to bash pretty much everyone in hollywood
Are you people for real? You assume she is a republican because she is a country singer? get real!
Carrie is a democrat and I believe she voted for Obama– so stop the hate. And if she did vote for McCain- so what?
She is so much smarter then all of you dumb bloggers. She graduated magna *** laude from college and was 2nd in her high school class. What were your grades in school? Did you even graduate high school? please.
Carrie rocks!!!! and taylor swift sucks.
Shut up and go vote losers.
Hazel– you are a total liar. Carrie grew up on a FARM and was poor!! She is also a Democrat! so shut the f_ck up!
I agree with her that celebrities should not push their political point of view too hard. However, the way Carrie talked about that sound condescending and arrogant. There is a better way for her to tell her point of view. Lately, Carrie Underwood acts and talks like she is so smart and so good that everyone should stop whatever they are doing and listent to her.
You ignorant Carrie bashers just showed your true colors. You have no c lue what you are talking about.
Carrie worked for a Democrat in college, and I am 99% sure she is a registered Democrat who voted for Obama.
so stop hating before you know the truth!!
And I agree with her! I am FRIGGIN SICK OF CLUELESS CELEBRITIES TRYING TO TELL ME HOW TO VOTE! THEY HAVE NO CLUE AND NO RIGHT!
We can make our own minds up— and we don’t need Paris Hilton or Lindsey lohan to try to influence us, when neither even graduated high school. Between the 2 of them, they might reach an IQ of 80.
Carrie is telling the truth, and deep down you all know it. so stop hating and go vote ********.
yeah, thanks for your opinion. i don’t respect people who tell me who to respect.
That such a stupid statement.
Is she saying that a celebrity loses their American right of freedom of speech? She is just trying to scare up controversy for her album.
I just hate public stupidity.
I adore her for this.. Elvis was the same way. Americans shouldn’t be voting based on who entertainers want and entertainers are not politicians.
THAT’S HER OPINION AND SHE’S ENTITLED…BUT SHE DOESN’T WANNA DO SOMETHING WHERE SHE HAS TO TELL PPL TO GET OUT AND VOTE{FOR HERSELF}WELL WHAT DID SHE DO ON AMERICAN IDOL? LOL! VOTE FOR CHANGE…
She’s the one who thinks the American public is dumb because I can make up my own mind, despite who a celebrity endorses. Stupid bint.
the stupidity of some of the comments on this blog amaze me. of course the public looks to celebs! the advertising industry counts on it! she is not saying that celebs cant speak their mind! she is just saying they should not encourage one to vote one vote on way or another. plus carrie is a democrat, her album is selling just fine, and she was asked about her politics specifically so she answered.
the stuff with the other celebs was put in by jared
I don’t think Carrie has the right to say that about anyone especially celebrities. Whether they decide to annouce who their supporting publicily or not, the media will advertise it somehow. I think celebrities are doing it for awareness. I personally love the fact that celebrities support the presidental election. It’s making people be more interested and be involved. I respect Oprah 10x more not having Sarah Palin on her tv show until after the election. She’s committed to Obama.
Carrie ROCKS! Thank God someone has the balls to tell the truth around here. I am so so SICK of everyone just blindly following the crowd like stupid sheep.
Carrie is very intelligent and graduated from college magna c um laude. For those of you trashing her, perhaps you should do some research about her first.
For the record, Carrie is a democrat. So go to hell, bashers!
I for one am tired of preachers telling me how to vote. And I mean, literally telling ME how to vote, not telling me who they support.
I agree- who cares what celebrities think of politics? They are actors- an overpaid position within the entertainment industry. What makes an actor more qualified than anyone else on politics? I would suggest they do something good - like donate their money to charities (not just “raise awareness”- they have plenty to spare).
This stupid woman is a closet republican. Coward, does not have the courage to come out and say she is supporting McCain/Palin. Stop trying to shut others woman. Come out and fight for your own candidate. This is a historic time in our country and you want to keep music free of politics. What is it that you are smoking?
Boy is the ignorance on here unbelievable. Most who were that negative probably do exactly what a celebrity tells you to do. Would you vote who Paris Hilton tells you to vote for simply because that girl said who you should vote for? Probably some on here would. All Carrie is saying is that we shouldn’t listen to celebrities to decide who to vote for, which we shouldn’t. And she simply said she would never tell people who to vote for because they have a mind of their own and should know who to vote for without a celebrity telling them who to vote for. Well, I guess some people have a mind of their own. All of those have backed one candidate or the other. Besides, I think the site is adding those names in as candidates who have backed one or the other and I believe she was just referring to any celebs that push people to vote for one person or the other.
Carrie Underwood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heart her for saying this!!!
Wow- the comments here are truly frightening. Since when did it become a sin to tell the truth?
Carrie is being honest, and telling it like it is.
If I hear one more stupid celeb try to tell me how to vote, I will throw up!
Half of the celebs act like they know it all– and they never even graduated from high school. what a farce!
Carrie is brave and honest– and I also believe she is a Democrat so stop trashing your own party, a-holes.
This is just another attempt to get some attention. Carrie’s claims to be speaking to Tony Romo (although he’s dating Jessica Simpson) didn’t go anywhere, and she’s too afraid to say who she’s voting for (probably for fear of alienating those conservative country music fans), so she tries to get some attention by criticizing other celebs who are willing to discuss their vote.
To Carrie’s judgment about other celebs, I say, STFU. Don’t talk about politics period. If your album was any good, you wouldn’t even have to stoop to criticizing your colleagues for attention. How pathetic.
I appreciate the sentiment, Carrie, but we peons are smart enough to select candidates based on who WE like, not based on what some rich celeb says.
^ get real jessica. Carrie’s album ROCKS and is about to hit triple platinum. It also got great reviews and is up for Album of the year.
so get the facts straight before you bash/
Fact is– you likely just trashed a fellow Obama voter, since Carrie is a democrat.
Laughable!
go McCain!
Actually, she is right.
I don’t give 2 shiits what Oprah, Jennifer Maniston, George the ***** Clooney or miserable Ben Affleck think about anyting.
I made up my own mind about who I voted for!
CARRIE RULES! I RESPECT HER SO MUCH MORE FOR SAYING THIS! YES!
The more idiot celebs who try to tell me how to think and vote, the less I want to vote for that candidate.
And truly, both candidates suck this year anyway.
go nader!
Hate to admit it but Carrie is right.
Half of these stupid celebraties are not even educated and THEY are telling us who to vote for - cramming this nonsense down our throats.
Our entire society is too hung up on what these overrated celebraties have to say!
Everyone who listens to them NEEDS TO GET A LIFE!
The celebs act like they are better then us, and many many many clods out there are heavily influenced by what they say.
BE HONEST! when the biased media and celebs tells you to vote for Obama, it starts to look like the “cool” popular thing to do… .so many weak minded people (and there are many, just on this site alone) will in fact go to vote for Obama just because it is cool and popular to do so.
I applaud the people who vote with their hearts and minds based on informed choices, not because Oprah told you to go vote for Obama.
I am a democrat- but the media and hollywood turned me off of Obama long ago.
He never even served in the military– how will he fight a war? get real.
Carrie is being honest and some of you just don’t want to hear the truth.
many young voters do with the crowd— and hollywood says it is cool to vote obama, so they will follow like dumb sheep.
Carrie is 100% right.
TOTALLY AGREE WITH HER. AS MUCH AS I LIKE THE CELEBRITIES, ONCE THEY START ENDORSING A CANDIDATE(S)–I LOST RESPECT FOR THEM AND WON’T WATCH THEIR MOVIES OR SHOWS…
TOTALLY AGREE WITH HER. AS MUCH AS I LIKE THE CELEBRITIES, ONCE THEY START ENDORSING A CANDIDATE(S)–I LOST RESPECT FOR THEM AND WON’T WATCH THEIR MOVIES OR SHOWS…
I totally agree with Carrie…
I don’t care for Carrie Underwood but she IS correct on this one.
Maybe these celebraties should be donating more money to charity or going out and doing something positive for this country instead of telling us all who to vote for!
Most of us are much smarter than these ignorant morons!
Note to Democrats here: You are bashing a fellow Democrat and Obama voter.
Carrie is a democrat- and worked for one as in intern in college.
You people are pathetic! You assume everyone from the south is a republican and trash your own kind without even knowing it!
with that said— GO CARRIE!!!
And go mccain!
*CLAP, CLAP* I AGREE WITH HER.
I have talked to so many Democrats over the last few months.
They are mean spirit and so opinionated. It is their way or the highway.
They are a CLASSLESS group of people who are just waiting to get into an argument over politics with anyone who will listen to them.
GET A LIFE!
I think that Obama will win and you will all still be MISERABLE!
“She is so much smarter then all of you dumb bloggers. She graduated magna *** laude from college and was 2nd in her high school class. What were your grades in school? Did you even graduate high school? please”.
The folks at NSU just GAVE her degree to her. She still lacked hours to graduate so the school just gave the degree to her because she won American Idol.
She needs to get over herself if she thinks just because she shares who she’s voting for people will follow. Celebs are people just like anyone else. I’m just as excited to share who I’m voting for! It’s 2008, it’s not so hush-hush anymore.
WOOHOO, good for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, Underwood, STFD and STFU. I’d say that I lost respect for you for saying something that stupid, but then again, I would have had to respect you before. Which, of course, I didn’t. She’s proven yet again what a pretentious little twat she is.
I totally agree with her. I hate that most celebrities are advertising who their going to vote for, thats so dumb of them.
She deserves for people to say the same thing about her.
Why can’t celebrities express their political opinions? Isn’t America h home of the free? Hopefully all voters will choose their candidate based on the candidiate’s platforms, and not on what some celebrity says.
She is an idiot for saying that.
i have no respect for carrie underwood
she is so god damn annoying
I TOTALLY AGREE with Carrie. I can’t stand how these “Hollywood” people think they know more than us to even think we care who they will vote for. Crazy.
I strongly disagree - people have every right to promote the causes theyre passion about, whether they are celebs or not. It’s up to people to become active, involved, and to engage others for what they believe in, whether that’s for McCain or Obama. Because celebs are often looked up to and their voices are heard they can help shake people out of their apathy….I don’t care who you vote for, just learn the issues and decide, don’t give me some extremist, ignorant answer. Celebs can help in this, in either direction, and be part of the democratic process. I think the problem can sometimes be the MANNER in which it is done; you obviously don’t want celebs to become pushy or sanctimonious, but on the whole they don’t cross that line.
Carrie’s argument is a form of censure, as if to say, “stick to music, you moron, because youre not worthy of anything else” which is complete rubbish. And to say you, “trust the American people because they’re smart enough” SOUNDS like a noble sentiment, but it’s empty demagoguery because sorry, the American people are largely apathetic, ignorant, or don’t know the issues. Our educational system is in shambles and voter disenfranchisement is huge - this is the reality, so many people don’t even register to vote in 2008, what does that tell you? So much as we’d like to applaud her for saying something that sounds great and supportive of the common man, the sad reality is different….we need to all help spread the word & get people involved, because the American people need to get involved in a positive, healthy way…if celebs can help in that process, wonderful.
I feel Carrie is contradicting herself she says she loses respect because “It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions,” NO she is saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions if she thinks that Oprah’s endorsement is going to be the reason I put a particular candidate in office she’s crazy. Oprah doesn’t pay my bills . I love to watch Tom Cruise act doesn’t mean Im converting to scientology anytime soon. Wake up Carrie u were one of us “dumb americans” as you so put it or how I translate it just a couple of years ago
Is Carrie dumb or what? Oprah is a media outlet just like Times Newspaper, they all pick sides. It’s part of the political process in this country. All media outlets support certain candidates. The same way you are able to state your opinion, so can everyone else in this country.
IT’S CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!
IT’S CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!
IT’S CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!
IT’S CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!
IT’S CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn’t say any better. Before, I was so pissed with the posts here about celebrities pissed or ‘forced’ people who to vote for. I did say before that celebrities, their jobs is to entertain the audiences and let’s keep it that way. They better stay out of politics because that is just plain stupid for them. Go Carrie.
Every American has the right to voice their choice for president. No matter if they’re famous or not. If someone is dumb and follows celebs thats “on them” not the celeb. I think Carrie thinks people are not smart enough to listen to a celeb and still make up their own mind. That Jo-Pitt fans will blindly follow Brad and Angie’s choice. Yes there are some people out there who will. But I think most people won’t. Bottom line is… this is AMERICA!!! Just becuz someone is on a tv show. That doesn’t forfeit their right to publicly support a presidential candidate.
I am liking this girl more and more! She’s right!
I completely agree with Carrie!! all celebrities need to keep their mouths shut and any american is dumb if they are influenced by a celebrities vote.
complete agree with her!
She’s right. Celebrities need to shut up.
so true its not even funny
wow….very very very insightful ms. carrie underwood. not only are you stunningly beautiful, talented but incredibly wise.
i like the fact that celebrities are bringing AWARENESS to voting and encouraging people to vote, but anybody who is INFLUENCED so strongly to vote for a candidate only because their favourite celebrity says so,…is a dingbat and idiot.
Go Carrie!
I agree with her. Finally a mature comment from a public person. Anyway, it’s also true that only people without personality are voting for a candidate only because a “star” saying them to vote.
I feel the same way, I will not pay to support celebrities who use the spotlight to air their political views.
If they want me to pay for there work , they need to stop insulting half of the population each time they speak.
That’s just stupid. If you believe in something you should campaign for it no matter who you are. And celebrities have a lot of power so why not use it for a good cause? Wanna bet she’s a republican?
Obama ‘08
Sounds like an ashamed Republican to me, and what a judgmental ***** to lose ALL respect for someone just for voicing their opinion or urging millions of complacent Americans to vote?
frida, you dingbat, not she’s not a republican.
You go Carrie! You celebrities are more influential than you think, and those that do listen to celebrities, probably can’t tell me or anyone else who the current President is, what the candidates stand for (as proven by Howard Stern) and can’t tell me what a Bicameral House is. Pick up a book, take a spelling class before you post something on here.
What a bonehead! You would think she would have learned to keep her mouth shut after what she said re Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo! I doubt that anyone endorsing a candidate cares about getting respect from Carrie Underwood. Personally, I think it’s wonderful to live in a country where you have the privilege of voicing your opinions and endorsements without fear of retribution.
I agree with her! Like my huband says…we just want to see entertainers ‘tap dance’. Do the job you are paid to do!! We don’t care what your political beliefs are we just want you to act, sing or dance. Whatever side you are on, you will lose the respect of many of your fans by voicing your unsolicited opinions. I have no desire to see many actors or singers because they have made an fool of themselves in the political arena.
geez. she is a ******* idiot.
she obviously doesn’t have an opinion on politics…
if you have a mind of your own… your own personality… your own opinions…. your own friggin voice then you wouldn’t be easily persuaded by a public figure such as Oprah… they make their decisions… so should you.
Ha! What’s funny is the comment from someone saying they are now buying her CD b/c they agree with her. Hmmm, but I thought the whole idea was that celebs shouldn’t have an opinion outside their art. I love how she shares this, as if to say WE too shouldn’t have any respect for celebrities that endorse a candidate. She is giving her opinion about celebrities and politics, while saying how she disagrees with other celebrities giving their opinions about politics in the same breath. Ha!
Give me a break, music is a reflection of what is going on in the world around us, look at any era, any generation, any culture. Music tells a story of what is happening at that time, in that place. Of course it can be an escape, painting pictures that have yet to happen or are just dreams for people.
Newsflash: Americans aren’t smart enough to vote for someone who will change the country for better - just look at the fact that George W. Bush has been voted for President for 8 YEARS! Americans have become the laughing stock of the world because of him. Clearly the citizens of the USA need some direction for intelligent, analytical free-thinkers.
I applaud her 100%. Who cares who these idiots vote for…if they are for a certain candiate, that is reason enough for me to be against them. Most of these people in entertainment are morans anyway…many haven’t even graduated high school so who the Blank really gives a Blank who they support?
YOU GO CARRIE! she is beautiful, has a b eautiful voice and is totally politcally savvy. a HUGE breath of fresh air, and way above all the other “celebs” who can’t keep their big mouths shut about things they know NOTHING about!!!!! Carrie you are a true star!
It’s so interesting what some of the comments are….. I guess unless the comments are like “She can go suck it” or some brilliant statement like that, some of you can’t comprehend or understand it. I know it’s hard to understand what classy people are since your busy throwing bricks through bus windows but you should try. America should be classy folks.
agree with #9!!!
sounds like a ******’ republican to me.
Carrie IS a Democrat and she IS right!
Shut up all of you stupid celebraties.
Just do what you are getting paid for - BAD acting and BAD singing!
Peppo #155, you said everything I was thinking. I’d only like to add, SHUT YOUR STUPID PIEHOLE, CARRIE! Freedom of speech is everyone’s right.
hey all you liberal loonies…..it doesn’t matter how she votes, she is saying it is personal for her….morons…go vote for slick willie again…see how far we get…maybe he can give up capturing bin laden AGAIN while getting it on with the “intern” what a joke
The temerity of this *itch to think the American public is stupid/shallow enough to base such an important decision on what celebutards say or who they endorse is insulting. Just another reason I can’t stand idiot Country singers. Got a big ego honey?
What are Democrats so opinionated, mean spirited and miserable?
They are ready to start a fight with everyone.
Even after Obama wins they will still be MISERABLE!
Hey Carrie, maybe you should drop all the endorsements you’re getting paid for and selling yourself with.
Afterall, celebrities shouldn’t suggest what products people should buy.
What an idiot.
I thought she was a big animal lover, maybe she should check what Bush is doing right now just before leaving office.
He’s tearing up all laws and regulations for the environment and removing animals from the endangered species list.
Christian my ass, he’s a sociopath.
Why are Democrats so opinionated, mean spirited and miserable?
They are ready to start a fight with everyone.
Even after Obama wins they will still be MISERABLE!
I love her for that :)… She’s a really smart blond :)
she has a point, but i also agree that why should celebrities not be able to show support for the candidate they like best? of course it’ll probably persuade some people to vote for who their favorite celebrity votes for, but is it really the celebrity’s fault that people follow what they say and do?
Why are Democrats so opinionated, mean spirited and miserable??
They are ready to start a fight with everyone.
Even after Obama wins they will still be MISERABLE!
Sammie, I think you better go check and re-check all the rallies in the past few weeks and see who looks more miserable and mean spirited.
Obama’s crowds looked a lot more hopeful and happy.
McCain’s crowds, the republicans, looked a lot more angry and bitter.
McCain - fight fight fight
Obama - unite unite unite
Big difference. lol
Liberal Loonies!!!!
Liberal Loonies!!!
I totally agree with Carrie!!! She is the only celebrity smart enough to understand that just because they have made it big in the music or movie industry, that does not make them an expert on political matters.
What really cracks me up is when some idiot celebrity starts talking about how dumb a political candidate is. I would love for each of these celebrities to sit down and take a test and match their scores against the candidates. If they knew beforehand that the scores would be published, I can guarantee you they would quit making those statements.
Carrie, I loved you before, and I love you even more now!!!
Well I don’t really care what Carrie Underwood has to say. I think celebrities can endorse who ever they want, they have the right to vote as well! I have more respect for people like Gwyneth Paltrow who in Glamour magazine says she is voting for Obama, then states a list of specific reasons why, mostly regarding women’s healthcare. She was knowledgeable on the facts of the issues.
Carrie sounds like a ***** in every interview I’ve read of hers.
I totally disagree with what she says - it’s a good thing that celebrities talk about politics, it’s making people who might not feel concerned about the vote pay more attention, and be more informed.
Why are Democrats so opinionated, mean spirited and miserable??
They are ready to start a fight with everyone.
Even after Obama wins they will still be MISERABLE!!!
Screw her, she’s entitled to talk about not promoting a candidate, but most likely she supports John McCain and doesn’t want to be hated because she does.
George Clooney and other celebs speak out for a lot of issues. Not only presidential elections. When was the last time you heard of Carrie standing up for gay rights, AIDS, cancer or darfur?! Also if Oprah called Carrie to come on her show… Carrie would run not walk to get there. she is full of crap on that one. “Opinions are like aholes… everybody has one and most are full of sh*t. “
Liberal Loonies!!!!!!
oh PLEASE, can SOMEBODY, anybody, tell me what “hope” o’bummer is going to represent????? here in loony liberal taxachusetts, they interviewed voters for the republic of cambridge and yes, every single one of them voted for o’bummer, but not a single one knew why. they couldn’t even name ONE of his policies, they couldn’t say what “change” he stands for and not one of them could say what they wanted to change about the country, and these are your voters…GOD SAVE THIS COUNTRY BECause HE is the ONLY one who can!
oh, and oprah….RACIST RACIST RACIST
I can understand with how Carrie doesn’t agree with celebrities endorsing politicians but it’s one thing to not agree and another to publicly condemn those who does.
Just as she has her right to chose not to endorse…other celebs have their right to do vice versa. It’s rather hypocritical of her to make such a statement…and in such an insulting tone.
When asked who she’s supporting, she should have ended it w/the bit about her not supporting anyone publicly. There was really no point in her disrespecting those who does.
But then again…she’s just practicing her freedom of speech…even though she condemns others who does in the process…hmm it’s a pickle
i disagree. celebrities’ political views do not affect me. if anyone is influenced by a celeb’s views, they don’t even deserve the right to vote.
I think she must be one of the smartest celebrities I’ve heard. The dumber ones think they know all about government and politics. Sick!
WOW! You mean there is a celebrity that doesn’t want to get a free ride on a Politician’s coat-tail! I don’t believe that! I thought that it was always good to have publicity; whether it was something good or something bad. Just keep your name in the headlines and you will be famous forever! To heck with the talent and helping me escape. It’s supposed to be all about you that is soooo much wiser and schooled than we the masses!
Those voting psa’s were really annoying and to me it wasnt just celebrities saying go vote they were saying go vote for obama. It was like they want you to do what they want to do and theres a lot of people out there who could care less what a celebrity wants. Its fine if they want you to vote for obama but leave that message to obama, they can wear the shirts and the buttons and whatever but its tiring to see them doing that and then making a psa. I can see where Carrie is coming from.
I find it funny that people stand up for those who speak their opinion but rip on Miss underwood for stating hers. While many out there vote for their own opinion, there are also many who are swayed by what those in a position of influence have to say without actually taking the time to look up the facts themselves. Celebrity and those of influence can and are sometimes held to a higher standard because what they say has greater impact, it is just like if you were to compare the standards held before an EMT and someone off the street giving CPR to a person, the EMT is held to a higher standard due to their position and training, and what impact they can have. The same is true when it comes to giving speeches and so forth, the problem comes into play as whether or not people wish to accept that responsiblity or not. I am glad that she is not voicing her opinion not because I don’t want to hear it but because many times those who hear an opinion of those in that kind of position take it a god’s word and never check it out. So chalk one up for Miss Underwood.
she is as stupid as her fans and i’m not surprised at all by the comments here who are in her favour because thanks to the internet the world got to know what we always suspected : americans are stupid, braindead, clueless idiots and that blond **** with her comment is just another proof.
Hey Carrie, you forgot to mention Elizabitch Hasselfuck. lololololol
Everybody has their opinion like she just expressed hers by saying she’s lost respect. I guess she thinks someone cares about what she thinks. If a celebrity wants to express themselves by supporting Barak Obama or John McCain than that’s their choice. It’s also her choice not to openly support anyone. But who cares about who she respects because they CHOOSE to publicly back someone. Next, she’ll lose respect for people who support certain causes I guess.
She needs to get over herself. I hate to hear Elizabeth Hasselback’s voice and her opinions but she has every right to do so. Just like I have the right to dislike her for her attitude and views on life and politics. But at least the girl has a mind and opinion. It may be close minded and one sided but a mind none the less. So thank you Carrie because we really don’t care who you support or what you do anyway other than sing. At least I don’t.
OOOOH, lisa, you’re funny…………………….nice mouth babe….NOT
I completely agree with her. When I watched Cold Play on SNL and what he said at the end of his performance made me lose respect, and I really love their music. What a shame
oh yeah, o’bummer’s c rowds are definitely happier….bring on the welfare….distributing the wealth…let’s see just WHOSE wealth will be distributed!!!! it aint gonna be o’bummer’s that’s for sure!
I love her for this, I actually would buy one of her albums now.
Carrie Underwood is a moron. Why shouldn’t an actor, actress or other celebrity endorse a candidate. If “Joe the Plumber” can, if another politician can, why can’t anyone else?
“It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions,” she explains.
And that’s like saying the American public isn’t smart enough to sift through what others sayand come to their own conclusions. Really, she’s making an argument against herself, and she’s just as stupid as she says endorses think Americans are.
Anyone can endorse anyone. Just as anyone, like Ms. Underwood, can make the dumbest statements you’ve ever heard and get coverage.
Guess we all know who you are voting for kwanda.lolololol
I do not agree with Ms. Underwood on this one. I believe that people in the spot light have a obligation to do good things with their fame, one of those is to support and endorse causes they believe in. I am conservative and don’t always agree with some of the causes that are being supported and brought to light, but , I do applaude those that stand up for what they believe in and use their voices to do it. Not voting and remaining silent using your voice in ways that don’t serve anyone.
She is totally contradicting herself by saying americans aren’t smart enought to vote on their own.
so basically she just outed herself as a republican….otherwise why would she care if ppl are endorsing her own candidate….another blonde republican (joy is right!) lol
I believe everyone, including celebs, should be able to speak their minds and support whoever they want. If Oprah or whoever wants to crawl up their favorites backside and shout it to the world then they should be able to, I have the option of ignoring it. IMO, to tell someone they shouldn’t voice their opinion or stand up for something/someone they believe in is wrong. If you have a voice, use it. Don’t let anyone tell you not to.
excellent statement. idc what party you are from but she makes sense. if only others followed her lead
and i just voted :)
Um hello, celebrities are humans and people, they have the right to voice their opinion. They are just stating who they are voting for. It doesn’t force the fans to vote for the president. At least most of the celebrities are actually telling us to vote, not to vote for this president or that president. Just to vote. They have a voice, they could stand up and use it.
She’s basically have no respect for 99% of the United States then.
PEOPLE, THERE WERE NO MENTION OF NAMES IN THE ACTUAL ARTICLE. Thes names have just been added by whoever to sensationalize it because those happen to be celebrities that have spoken out.
Carrie Underwood has integrity and balls for speaking out …There are a long list of Stars/movies/shows I don’t need to see and I’m okay with that…
What does it matter how she got famous? I suppose Jennifer Hudson’s shouldn’t get any respect either because she also got her start from a “reality” show.
YES CARRIE!!
Finally, a celebrity who gets it. Movie stars, t.v. stars are so removed from reality that their opinions mean nothing. She is right, I’d NEVER vote for someone a celebrity endorsed. Most Americans are not that dumb. It’s not the celebrities that Obama’s going to tax to death, it’s the small business, working, middle class.
How is it, that if one’s opinion is to say that “My opinion, which I hold close to my heart, has nothing to do with my celebrity status” can cause such anger to come boiling out of so many people? There is, in my opinion, much to be said for the celebrity that is not wishing to share that info. If you really think of it, it is a much smarter choice to say, it’s none of your business! That way, as an entertainer, you haven’t alienated 1/2 of the populous. The idea of being an entertainer is to be able to touch as many hearts as you can; regardless of creed, color, sex, age or level of education. It appears to me, that Carrie is much wiser than her age would lead you to believe, or of those that are hateful toward her, for having an opinion that doesn’t match theirs. Relax, take a deep breath and remember, entertainers get a stage because they can perform, not because they are wise. You don’t need to be real sharp to be able to speak into a microphone or read a teleprompter! But if your presentation is enjoyable, we will ask you to get back up there again.
I TOTALLY AGREE! She was right on with every word! People shouldn’t vote for someone just because a celeb endorses them! Hopefully people did and will take that into account when they hit the polls!
Good for Carrie!
How refreshing! You go, girl!
She looks just like Jessica Simpson in this picture. How ironic
She looks just like Jessica Simpson in this picture. How ironic
I appreciated Carrie for saying this, as it has been something that has bothered me about celebrities for quite a long time. Celebrities should uses their influence to persuade people to vote in general, but never condemn a candidate upon their fans. It is so frustrating to see celebrities on TV, telling me who to vote for. I have a brain and I like to use it on my own, not with your help. Thanks though!
i agree with carrie. For example, if she tells who she wants to win for the presidental election then her fans and oher people who adore her will follow in her footstteps and vote for whoever shes voting for.
YOU GO GIRL
I lose respect for people who claim to have talent and don’t.
#18, you summed it up perfectly. I don’t see the harm in celebrities voicing their opinion. But when they do it in a smug and obnoxious way…I hate it.
I agree with the basis of Carrie’s statements, but I think she worded it wrong, she’s said similar things in other interviews and it’s come off much better, she has said that it’s just not her personal thing to publicly endorse people. She has said she doesn’t even know her parents’ political views and votes in the past.
And I wish people wouldn’t just assume she’s a Republican because she’s in country music and won’t say what her views are, as other people have said there’s actually a lot of evidence that she’s NOT.
Love you Carrie <3

America has been so dumbed down that people can’t think for themselves. They believe everything the media and celebrities tell them. People in Hollywood don’t live in the same world as you & I unless you make millions of dollars. Do you think they have to worry about how high taxes go? How much food cost? How must gasoline cost? I don’t think so. They may have issues, but they aren’t the same ones I faces on a daily basis. I personally don’t care ,and I believe most of America feels the same way, who they are supporting. 1 out of 10 probably couldn’t tell you what either candidate has done and plans to do. They just want the publicity.
Some of you believe they have the right to voice their opinion, but Carrie doesn’t have the right to voice hers. Talking about hypocrites.
she wants her 15 minutes of fame
Funny how so many peopple here are telling her to “stfu” … why? She can’t have an opinion that differs from yours?
Elvis was once asked who he was voting for and his very classy answer was “shucks I’m just an entertainer, not a politician” or words to that effect. Entertainers don’t know any more than the average person does, but they have one thing we average Joes don’t have, and that’s the attention of the media. So yeah, they do have a responsibility that differs from our private conversations.
People who get mad at this must be insecure. She never said she was Dem or GOP, yet most who are dissing her here accuse her of being a GOP. So… if I am GOP I can’t have an opinion? Or if I am a Dem and an entertainer, I MUST therefore get my opinion out in the public eye? Even though (either party notwithstanding) neither entertainer knows any more than the rest of us?
As for who’s going to be more famous in a year or two, Carrie U or Oprah, for example, who cares? Level of fame has nothing to do with level of intelligence.
I’m just glad we live in a country where we CAN espress our opinions. Don’t try to shout me down for it; it’s my right. Carrie’s too. And yours. But can’t we be a “polite society” at the same time? We demean only ourselves when we cast stones on others.
“The folks at NSU just GAVE her degree to her. She still lacked hours to graduate so the school just gave the degree to her because she won American Idol.”
Umm nooooo she finished the last 5-10 hours she had to do after Idol and earned her diploma. Carrie is a VERY smart girl, as people have said… magna *** laude, high school saluditorian, etc.
And seriously STOP saying she is a Republican because I really doubt she is!!! She is huge in animal rights, and she has cited education as an important issue to her because both her mom and sisters are teachers, AND she worked for as a page for a Democratic state Rep. from Oklahoma in college. She’s probably a Democrat and everyone is bashing her as a “dumb Republican” which is just wrong and unfair anyway.
She’s saying something I’ve always wanted to say. Of course I’m voting for Obama, but I just hate it when my favorite heroes are pushing me to vote for someone I’m don’t want to vote for. Like want happened in the primary when I voted for Hillary and all of these celebrities wawnted fans to vote for Obama. Made me irratated…
Kinda like how Oprah wouldn’t let Hillary go on her show, but only Obama…
It’s like, I can think for myself!
What an idiot, I just lost all respect for Carrie Underwood. Hello!!! EVERYONE has a right to vote and be vocal about who they are voting for.
If you want my honest opinion, she is probably voting for McCain and is just pissed that most celebrities are voting for Barack and he is going to win!!
Whatever Carrie Underwood, Remember that you live in the United States of America. LAND OF THE FREE and with that comes Freedom of choice and Freedom of Speech. Just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t mean they don’t get to be vocal about their candidate of choice.
Get over yourself girl!!!!
Hello??? What is wrong with this girl, What an idiot, I just lost all respect for Carrie Underwood. Hello!!! EVERYONE has a right to vote and be vocal about who they are voting for.
If you want my honest opinion, she is probably voting for McCain and is just pissed that most celebrities are voting for Barack and he is going to win!!

She’s probably just bitter because most celebrities by far - with the exception of the odd Ted Nugent type fascist - go for Barack Obama and are very liberal, cosmopolitan, and open-minded in their views…while poor little white trash country girl who won a contest likes McCain and thus lashes out at others for speaking their mind because it bugs her that everyone favors Obama so overwhelmingly.
OBAMA for the win, baby!
Carrie Underwood only shows that she thinks the public IS stupid. There is nothing wrong with Celebrities saying who they vote for and encouraging people to vote. I am voting for Obama because he is the best choice in MY opinion. Contrary to popular belief, most people can make their own decisions based on the issues that most impact their lives.
If Carrie really felt that way, then she should cancel her Vitamin water endorsement, since that it encouraging people one way. She is so fake. I am sure she just needs a check, and she will spew out whatever they want her too. Carrie Underwood only uses her celebrity when it benefits her financially.
STUPID.
when times get hard, some people need enlightening.
GO GO OBAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAA !!!!
I don’t really care about the american presidential elections because i’m not american but i kind of agree with Carrie. Even though all that thing about celebrities endorsing candidates is a very good markting strategy i think it’s just not right to influence people through the media. STILL in my opinion, most people aren’t that stupid to vote for a candidate just because a movie star or whatever tells them to
she makes a clear point..
but i personally think she made this statement as an inconspicuous way of putting down celebrities who endorse obama.. since its pretty obvious that the majority of her demographics and a VAST majority of her listeners are leaning towards mccain.
.. just another reason for small town ‘real’ America to put down hollywood.
-just sayin
She is so right . . . celebs are not who we need to lead us or our children only entertain!!!
i say she needs to stfu because it’s a hypocritical statement. She’s saying celebritites shouldn’t publicly endorse or support candidates (implying they shouldn’t voice their personal opinions on any subject matter) because it’s wrong to influence the public and yet she feels SO comfortable as to tell the entire public that she has no respect for those that do. yet she feels it’s fine to endorse something frivolous such as VITAMIN WATER and SKETCHER’S SHOES to attempt to influence the public!! what a HYPOCRITE!!!!
i wanna **** in her face. she’s so stupid! everyone is entitled to their own opinion. just cuz the celebs are in the spotlight doesn’t mean they can’t act human. for god’s sake, they will endorse whoever they fcukin want and its not their fault the paps are all over them putting it out there in the media. anywho, this ***** seriously needs her face to get pissed on. i bet she’s not even voting.
Maybe she needs to stop thinking Americans are stupid. I vote on the issues not because of the celeb(s) endorsement.
P.S. that also means she lost respect for Pitt, sh*t starter.
Political Propaganda! Its not a new thing. Freedom of speech. Besides when it comes down to it, family and significant others are far more influential than what may come of celebrity endorsments in terms of voting behavior. Individuals coming from a more conservative family tend to vote for the republican and vise versa; its a result of how we were raised.
WOW!!! That is the first intelligent thing I have heard a celeb say in a very long time! Shame on Matt Damon and the rest of the Hollywood snobs ( right or wrong ) for opening their mouths. You are entertainers….ENTERTAIN US! …then shut up.
She needs to stop putting her foot in her mouth . Carrie, use the brain God gave you and think before open your mouth. Your 15min are running out fast.
I’ll put something else in her mouth….what a shame to waste it on a foot
Carrie rocks and I completely agree with her.
I’m with her.
Love Carrie~

I agree with Carrie 100%, though I also do believe everyone is entitled to their opinion. It’s just that celebrities have an advantage with the microphone and being in the public eye. They are able to get on a soapbox in the media. The average person (who both indirectly and directly pays these celebrities salaries, btw) does not have the advantage of a soapbox to reach the masses. These comment boards help, but not much by a long shot.
Laura, I can only guess that Carrie didn’t get your vote on American Idol. So, were you a cast-off?
Carrie is actually right.
We as the American public do not have our own TV shows from which we can broadcast our opinions. They do. This gives them the power of persuasion.
Oprah Winfrey was a big NO NO !!
I will never watch her show again. She has no right to drop Hillary Clinton , and endorse Obama just because he is BLACK !!
Keep hollywood out of politics !! They are actors who fake everyday life, and most of them are tragically nothing like the character they appear to be. Take for instance Oprah. Her true colors became known when she turned down Palins interview, making her the Democratic headquarters for Obama !!!!
I didn’t know who she is and thanks to the comments here i found out that she was the winner of a tv show contest. I guess that sums up what she is pretty well….
I first thought by looking at the picture posted here that she was the bad girl from “Knots Landing”.
Elvis was an idiot, A Republican one BTW, member of the CIA, gun lover and died the way he deserved too : on the crapper.
I think everyone has the right to express their opinion, even celebrities. I disagree with Carries statement, she’s basically stating that famous people do not have a right to express themselves. Therefore, she must be against democracy.
So some of you argee with a couple celebrities that said people were idiots or stupid or crazy if they did not vote for a certain candidate and used national television to state their opinion just because they are celebrities? Those are the types I am sure Carrie does not agree with. There were no names ever mentioned in the actual interview. JJ has added those to make it more controversial.
And all Republicans must be sent to guantanamo.
Someone,
Are you her publicist ? or are you really Carrie Underwood trying to defend yourself with craps?
I think her comments are right-on! I get sick of celebrities forgetting we want them to entertain us, it isn’t their job to force feed us with their opinions. Think Madonna or Sheen. They’re way over the top.
Glad to hear common sense and respect for consumers from a celebrity.
it is about time someone hollywood star said something intelligent
major props to her.
thanks Jared
except, Bee JJ added names when the actual article did not mention any so not happy he made it appear that she mentioned actual celebrities by name when she did not.
Well, i just lost respect for you, Carrie! You’re an idiot. Celebs just like eveyone else have a right to voice their opinion. Besides, most voters aren’t swayed by celebrity endorsements anyway.
I used to like you when you were modest and humble. Get over yourself.
didnt she openly endorse bush in 2004?
i completely agree. i personally don’t care about who any celebrity endorses. i have very little respect for most entertainers in the first place. but a lot of americans actually value what some celebrities have to say and will believe a lot of what they hear from their mouths. they (celebrities) love this power and use it. some for good and some for bad. regardless, i agree it should not be used for political sway. but then again…who cares what i think? HA!
Well, at lease Carrie is preoccupied with this issue and leave all of her EXES alone. Peace, Peace at last.
I agree with the those that say props to Carrie for having the nerve to say this. Some people are too influenced by celebrities just because it comes from a celebrity. She did not like them publicly endorsing a candidate (as in pushing them off on us is what I am sure she meant). To me this a compliment to us ordinary people. She is saying we have the brains to pick who we want without this shoving it down our throat on who we better vote for. I am sure she feels that they are entitled to their opinion - she probably just does not like those that try and force us to believe the way they do because they have a public forum to do so.
Carrie Underwood was nice enough to travel to Iraq to put on a concert for our troops at war in 2007. Well, actually she toured the large bases where most of the logistical operations take place and didn’t come in contact with most of the soldiers who regularly see combat. In my experience seeing and meeting her, she did nothing but complain about the situation. I understand that she was taking out her own time and money to do something for the troops, but she could have at least made an effort to seem sincere about it.
P.S. I am a United States soldier and I endorse Barrack Obama
You got that right, Carrie!! Thanks for giving us some credit that we can make our own decisions!!!
She is absolutely correct. Celebrities have access to a lot of folks and can sway them one way or the other just because of who they are. Whoever made the comment about her being on a public show should realize that they are trying to compare apples and oranges. In any case, at least she was promoting herself not anybody else.
It’s funny how carrie haters can twist words.
What are Mr. All Knowing Snyder. You say it so matter of fact. You must be white ( shes just voting for him because hes black) for posting such a poor comment. Oprah didn’t interview any of the candidates. Obama was on her show long before he even announced he was running. She released a statement saying she would interview when the election was over. Showing her true colors huh??? Don’t be so little minded and say racial comments like that. common. And its just as easy for people to say predominantly white areas in the south are voting for mccain because hes white. Don’t go there. Educate yourself!!!
Blah
Everybody else has the right to and is practically EXPECTED to voice their political opinions. Look on Facebook–there are literally hundreds of groups supporting Obama, Biden, Palin, and McCain. We recognize that we have the RIGHT to choose a side and not be punished for speaking out on what we believe. Look at all the bumper stickers, pins, t-shirts, and lawn signs–nobody is complaining about these.
And how in the world are celebrities FORCING us to vote a certain way? True, celebrities are influential, but in an event as important as the presidential election, people who aren’t intelligent enough to vote independent of their favorite actors/singers/etc. should not be complaining about their endorsement of a certain candidate.
And for those of you who are saying Americans AREN’T smart enough to make their own political decisions–it this were true, Americans would just get their political opinions from other people, including the mass media. If celebrities have the right to and are enormously praised for supporting certain charities and international causes, why can’t they support something that may be just as important to them–a presidential Candidate? I am not saying that Carrie Underwood is unintelligent, but she made a serious lack of judgement when she made this statement. Many of the celebrities that she has lost “all respect” for are so much more respected and influential than she.
about time someone in hollywood said something smart
And, how much do you want to bet that all the people here who have responded to this article with name calling or telling Carrie to “STFU” are Obama supporters? It certainly doesn’t give me a very high opinion of them as civil mature adults. As for Carrie’s comments… this is simply her opinion. She never said that celebrities cannot express their views, nor did she say they cannot support a particular candidate publicly. She simply said that she loses respect for those who do. Now, as far as I’m concerned, that’s her issue. What I don’t get is why those who disagree with her are getting their feathers ruffled and what I really don’t get is why they have to be so rude about it.
USSOLDIER: I am sure she did not even get to pick where they wanted her to go when she went to IRAQ so that was unfair. You have no idea, as do any of us, who made the decision on where she would visit. She did not even have to go period and some never do.
I think she is nobody to judge the other celebs actions!!
First of all, I bet her words were TOTALLY twisted and she never even said it like that because that 100% doesn’t sound like something that would come out of Carrie’s mouth, and I’ve been a true fan since AI.
Second, I think everyone here is a complete idiot for calling Carrie an idiot. She is NOT stupid, dumb, or a *****. She is a well-respected, and an all around woman who just gave her opinion. DEAL WITH IT. More than half of you who disagree with her and are bashing her are saying celebs should have their own opinions right? LET HER HAVE HERS. Yea I think it’s a bit extreme to lose all respect, but she probably didn’t even say that, ever though it’s right. I’m sick and tired of people shoving Obama into everyone’s faces, and I’m a DEMOCRAT. I think all americans should be able to choose without celebrity endorsements interfering with their decisions, it’s been bugging me for a long time.
STFU Carrie!!!
*
This girl is so delusional!!!
*
No wonder even her personal life s.u.c.k.s!
All guys end up dumping her flat a.s.s.!
I understand her point. and majority of the time celebs confuse the issue…look at Jenny macarthney and her stance on vacinnation…they talk froma very personal selfish perspective, so they should keep tehir views to themselves…Carrie however went a bit too far in the “losing all respect” remark..its not that serious and certainly wont vote because Anniston or for tha matter the againg gigolo george said so
ahhahaha
Yea I think it’s a bit extreme to lose all respect, but she probably didn’t even say that.*
And what she probably meant by celebrity endorsements is all those people who tell and basically almost force others to vote for their candidate because they think they’re best suited to run the country, not celebs who simply say they’re voting for a certain one.
All celebrities should “Just shut up and sing”. Thanks Carrie….you’ve just jumped to the top of my list.
PS I’m still waiting for Streisand and Baldwin to leave the Country like they promised.
goo, I didn;t like her before, but after this, I love her; I might even go and buy 100 copies of her albums or album or whatever!!!1
this is one smart cookie!
she is totally right; the american public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions.
how on else did you ended up with bush to begin with? -twice.
a country gets only the president it deserves.
too bad, while the usa is going down the plummeth you’re dragging the world with you.
Carrie Underwood has no respect for celebs who endorse presidential candidates???? So she has no respect for Oprah who is using her AMERICAN RIGHT of Freedom of the Speech to stand up for the candidate she believes in!!! You don’t read that Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney..etc saying they have no respect for female singers who date NFL QB’s (Tony Romo), or singers who win a talent show (American Idol). Trust me, next election Carrie Underwood will be endorsing a candidate. All she needs a little time to understand leadership, maturity, and many of principals the United States of American was founded on.
She’ll be pregnant in a year with some actors baby!!
I think she’s backing McCain, and she’s not saying it publicly because she doesn’t want to lose fans. It says something when you are embarrased to admit who you back for president, celebrity or not. The story about not wanting to tell people who to vote for is basically a story, so that her image will not be tarnished, and her sales will not be affected.
Many of you who say Carrie is an idiot, are idiots yourselves! She is just saying that she doesn’t like it when celebrities endorse a certain candidate. She isn’t saying she backs McCain or Obama! And where did she say celebrities don’t have the right to express their opinions! You all are just Carrie haters that have nothing better to do than bash about every comment she makes… Shesh!! Get over yourselves! I totally agree with Carrie, voting should be PRIVATE, you shouldn’t tell people to vote who you want to win. Let people have their own opinions!!
shes a ugly ***** with a big chin! no respect for sum of the biggest celebs around for voting? pehh shes a nobody what did she come fro american idol? and shes judging the people who workd hard for ther fame because of voting ,, she tottaly has no respect for saying it in my books!!! usless *****
In the actual interview, she does NOT mention anyone’s name. I don’t know how any of you think she supports either McCain or Obama by the answer she gave in the interview.
Before some of you what to make comments you might want to go read that acutal interview and not the usual spin that this site puts on everything.
Taylor Swift fan you saying that Carrie is doing this for publicity after the crap that Taylor does is just laughable, you really need to look in the mirror!!!!!!!!!!!!
just because ther celebritys doesent mean ther not human just because they voteD? like a normal person lets c me do a video telling u to vote?!?! so fuking wat? she dont make sence the retarded ugly hooker
Those of you that disagree with her, really live a shelter life. All of these so call Celebs, should keep it to themselves. They are after all, only amusement for the public. To use their venue as a tool to display their views, means less than their acting or entertaining abilities. For you to be lead down any path because you admire them, makes you less educated and very gullible. They do have a right to their opinions, as long as they keep them to themselves, just like all of the public has to.
I AGREE SO MUCH. i hated her before but now i have so much respect for her
She is the smartest celeb I know of. Go girl! And celebs can express their opinion, just not in the political world simply because there are plenty of idiots who would say “OH! My favorite celebrity wants Obama to win so I should vote for him, too! His policies don’t matter. It only matters that my favorite celebrity wants him to win.” Simply put, she is one smart woman. Those who disagree are the idiots.
TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!
Soooo, is she assuming that the American voters don’t have minds of their own and will just vote for a candidate because a celebrity has endorsed them? “Losing all respect” is a little extreme…
Carrie UnderWood is not a American because she did not end endorse anyone. At least Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney and other celebrities do care about America. She do not care about America to change our country for the better. Our country is not the wrong direction and she want to be a ***** about not endorse Obama. We should not listen to you and we should not listen to your crappy music too because you do not care about our country. You do not love America and you do not want to change our country for the better. You just like Lauren Conard from the Hills just full of s@@T. I am not famous person but I want to endorse Obama as our 44 Presient of the Untied States of American. You my respect too Carrie.
Jeremy
Wow, I didn’ tlike her much before but I’ve gained so much respect for her for saying this!!
i bet she endorses mccain thats why she said that lol ……..shes an idiot she just lost my respect i used to like her. she judged the other celebrities its none of her business what they do. shes been acting like an idiot lately first blabbin about her break up with chace crawford and then the tony romo comment which was so childish and bitchie of her i mean what did jessica ever do to her we all know how madly in love jessica is with tony and she called her fat how mature. god i can believe im going say it but ….jessica simpson is so right about her.
idiot
Wow to all the people who called her a “stupid *****” or “stupid republican” you’re making yourself and democrats look bad based on the stupid things you say.
shut up, Carrie!
ur presence in america doesn’t advance nor ****** the whole evolution. ur a pest!
Cudos to this young lady. Celebrities use their star power (usually actors/singers) to influence others in politics. While they have a right to their opinion, they should not use the media or their star power to broadcast it. Most of them are excellent in their field, but I would not take economic/political/legal/ or any other advice from them. Unfortunately, there are people in society who view them as role models (justified or not) and are swayed by their political endorsements, instead of seeking out their own opinion. Ms. Underwood, you are 100% correct and your stock went up in my opinion!
BTW, I am indeed a Republican, but if Mr. Obama is elected, I will refer to him as Mr. President and he will be my President - good, bad, or indifferent. Just as George Bush is my President now and Clinton was 8 years ago. My courtesy extends to whomever holds that distinguished office. I am sorely disappointed with Repubs and Democrats who speak ill of the President or the other party just because of differences in politics/direction. Speak your mind, but be respectful of the office, the candidates, and the other party.
George Washington warned us of political parties, the divisiveness they bring, and the very problems we are experiencing! We can certainly have differences of opinion and hold/voice them strongly, but we need to work together and compromise to find solutions if we are to remain a great country.
Peace & respect to my fellow American Citizens!!
You do not care about America Miss Carrie Underwood and you do not have the right to talk bad about Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney and other celebrities because you do not have the courage to change our country for the better. Would be against the Civil Rigths 1965 if the bill was endores by celebrities? It takes a lot of courage to speak again your country if your country is on the wrong track. You do not have any courage to endorse anyone and you do not care about America. You are a crappy person Carrie and your music is crap too. And you are so shadow just like Lauran Conard on the Hills because she has not endorse anyone either. You and Lauran Conard are really sorry people. You do not want to vote either that is really sad.
Wayne
Then they shouldn’t be allowed to Endorse anything else either! Shoes, clothes, water, whatever!
what a self centered cow. i dont care if she is an obama supporter. She is so judgemental its disgusting.
I totally agree with her
carrie rocks. all you other chics are jealous cuz she’s HOT!
evelyn we know you fat and ugly quit haten you *****
Thank you Carrie Underwood for not thinking more highly of yourself than you should. Oprah the Orca, George Looney, Hayden Cantactitierre, and Jennifer I probably had to blow someone to get a spot on friends can all kiss it. (As if I need any of them to give me their opinion on who they endorse.
To those of you who say that they have as much right to speak as anyone else, well yes they do, but with that right comes a lot more responsibility not to be an idiot, and I don’t think any of them will be impacted directly by the outcome of this election. They have enough money not to worry about it. But, those of us who don’t have the money to foot the bill will be affected. So, those outspoken idiot celebs can kiss my ass!
I agree that celebrities should not you their power to influence some one else vote. HOWEVER, Carrie Underwood is being a DRAMA QUEEN again by saying she lost respect for those whose chose to speak up. What she said is uncalled for . By being a DRAMA QUEEN (act as her normal self) her message got lost along the way.
i love her for that,
it makes total sense. yes celebs are people. but like people their political affiliations don’t need to be broadcasted all over the world. i know married couples who don’t even talk about politics within there home so no i don’t think they politics needs to spew from their mouths either.
in the end, statistics show, that when a celebrity endorses a candidate it actually ends up hurting the candidate.
So what if she is a republican like some of you are saying..She doesn’t have a right to be a Republican with an opinion? i see it’s only democrats that put her down. I guess that shows how paranoid democrats are. I totally agree wuth her there are people in this world that idolize hollywood people so much they could be easily influenced by their opinion or, maybe go out and vote for a canidate that they really know nothing about. I agree that hollywood stars are just people{OVER PAID PEOPLE} but, some people are more easily influenced. it’s fine if you want to say who you are voting for but, don’t try to persuade others.
Okay seriously if any of you idiots would read the interview she NEVER said any names and never said she lost respect for anyone.
I have gained SO much more respect for her. I agree with her 100%. Yes celebrities have a right to freedom of speech but there are a looot of celebrities who use their celebrity status wayy more than they should and force their opinions on you and verbally attack both candidates and to be honest they make themselves look stupid.
Believe it or not but a lot of ppl base their choices off of what their favorite celebrity is doing and that is not what this election is about. It’s about your decision and who YOU think is the best candidate. You shouldn’t vote for someone because thats who youre favorite celebrity is voting for.
GO CARRIE!
I totally agree with Carrie Underwood. These celebrities that live in hollywierd and every where else, think that just because they endorse someone for president that everyone else will follow. Well you know what only the idiots that don’t have a mind of there own would do that and believe me there are plenty of those people around. All you need to do is read and listen to what each candidate will do to improve the country and you can make up your own mind.
Don’t forget to vote for the candidate that you think will make this country better…. That’s all that counts.
What’s her problem? She’s only saying that because most likely she’s voting for McCain and doesn’t want her fans to know because most young people are supporters of Obama.
Oh, and does her opinion apply for people who put signs in front of their homes?!
Thank God!! Politics is the one thing you are not supposed to talk about anyways. You’re probably one of the smarter celebrities. Celebrities are the some of the dumbest people on the face of the earth, and I certainly wouldn’t listen to them about politics. Half of them don’t even know what they are voting for. They vote for what’s “cool” not what is best for America. They can have an opinion, but they can’t force their opinion on me. Their job is to entertain, not be politicians and change the world. None of them even live in the real world. It’s nice of you to keep things to yourself. Besides, if you’re not voting for Obama, it’s best not to say; otherwise, you might get attacked. Gotta love Obama supporters (cough, cough).
I voted for Carrie on American Idol and she proves to be an American lady that little girls can look up to. I agree with her. Celebs do not have the right to tell me how to vote. You go girl!! I will continue to buy her CD’s but will not ever go to another Matt Damon movie as he crossed the line when he put down Sarah Palin with such anger and rudeness.
Celebs don’t realize that they aren’t respected outside of the movie theater or TV. Many (could probably say most) are not college educated and if they are it certainly isn’t in a field other than the arts. Plus, they aren’t real people. They really need to stick to acting. By endorsing a candidate, it hurts that politician. Americans who work for a living, raise their kids, cut cupons to save on good toothpaste, cook dinners and clean thier own toilets (and don’t mind doing all of those things) laugh at celebrities who think we are even interested in who they are voting for. Carrie Underwood is awesome for stating that. I was raised by parents who insilled in us that a vote is private. To ask someone who they are voting for is inappropriate and to broadcast who you are voting for is even more so.
everyone please refer to #313’s comment because i cant really say it any better than he/she has.
Although I do believe Carrie WAS being a bit dramatic saying that she’s “lost repect” for all celebrities who endorsed a candidate. HOWEVER, I think its good how she voiced her opinion about how all these hollywood hotshots think that their star power in the entertainment business suddenly gives them this esteemed knowledge on politics and this influencing power on others to vote for someone JUST because they say to. Citizens shouldnt be watching all these CORNY celebrity-centered psas on who should be the next president. Its ridiculous! Hayden panettiere’s psas for example…her psas are PAINFULLY corny and i feel embarassed for her for thinking that using this sort of satire will persuade american citizens to vote for obama. I am in fact democrat and support Obama/Biden 100% of the way, but I feel as if these stupid psas do more harm than good.
Wow…maybe she feels a little threaten that majority’s for Obama.
i think its ridiculous how its suddenly become a hype to be a Obama follower/Democrat when seem to have no knowledge of anything that is going around in the political world, let alone the policies that the democratic party are fighting for. It seems as if many people use this image as being all for Obama just gain an image of being more knowledgable and politically advanced. stupid. KNOW YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU STATE YOU ARE A PROUD DEMOCRAT!
OBAMA/BIDEN ‘08
Sounds like McCain’s Lover to me!
I agree 100% with Carrie Underwood. It is about time that a celebrity spoke up. Yes, everyone has a right to express their opinions…but advertising and using your celebrity status to back a candidate is a way of persuading people to not think for themselves. It is also a way for the celebrity to gain some free publicity fo themselves in the process…all a game, I have much more respect for a celebrity who doesn’t need the attention of endorsing or speaking out about a specific candidate. A simple “get out and vote” message is enough. Oh, and yes celebrities do have a “right” to speak out…but it is their point of delivery that is the problem and the “cool” factor they try to inflict on others when they endorse a specific candidate. I like it much better when they entertain and remain neutral about their political decisions.
FINALLY someone in hollywood who addresses the annoying craze. i never really liked underwood but i give her this much for speaking up, especially on such a controversial topic as this
YOU GO CARRIE!! You are the only person NOT telling everyone to vote for. REMEMBER PEOPLE- IT IS A PRIVATE BALLOT. No one should be telling anyone who to vote for, especially on public television. Oprah was out of line. They were all out of line. And I think Carrie Underwood is the only one with brains to not tell who she is voting for. She knows it is a private ballot, and isn’t going to publicly announce who she is voting for. Carrie doesn’t want a president that was voted for by who told them to vote. So once again- Rock on, Carrie.
I am totally buying all of her records now! That is what I wish every celebrity would have said. I can’t stand celebrities who try to sway voters by their statements. Everyday people can’t change people’s minds the way a celebrity can and I think it is very unfair when they tell the press who they are voting for. I really am boycotting every celebrity that has voiced their opinion about the vote as much as possible… even to the point of turning the channel if I see them on TV.
Kudos Carrie! Too many people are influenced by celebrities’ points of view or decisions. A large % of Americans just wait until their favorite celeb endorses someone or something to support or buy. Its a very disturbing thing to see someone get on national TV and go on the road campaigning for a candidate. Too many people are folllowers instead of leaders. They can’t make up their own mind, so they let a celeb do it for them. I used to watch Oprah. I won’t anymore. I’m NOT Republican, but it made me sick. Makes me wonder what she thinks she’ll get out of it if Obama gets it. One last thing…..where was he born? Seems nobody knows, as he can’t produce a legal birth certificate. Campaign money from overseas? Converted from the Muslim faith to Christianity. Won’t pledge allegiance to the American flag. Turns his back when the American anthem is played. Sorry, folks, I want a president who’s for the good old USA, not against us! Wait and see.
i agree with her. and for everyone who is saying republicans are stupid, how rude bc not all republicans feel that way!!! but she has a point. no celebrity should get on tv and publically endorse a candidate. its fine to wear a t shirt or whatever but when ur getting on national television to tell ppl who to vote for, thats going a little too far.
Amen Carrie! I’m glad there is at least one celebrity who does not think the world revolves around them, and that they are somehow an expert and an authority on everything just because they are famous. I don’t care what the celebrities think. All they do when they open up their big mouth is alienate their fans. Case in point, The Dixie Chicks. They were on top of the world until Natalie had to go on a tirade. Whether you agree with her or not, you cannot ignore the fact that they have fallen into relative obscurity since that brilliant move. Yes, celebrities can stand on their soapbox and say whatever they want, but they run the risk of damaging their credibility as entertainers.
We do not look to entertainers for guidance on politics or religion. We look to them to entertain us, and help us esxape from the realities of life. I applaud celebrities who are involved in humanitarian aid, but why is it the top news story on every channel? I lose a lot of respect for them and their motives when everything they do is highly publicized.
Thank you Carrie for understanding that the “little people” can make up their own minds, that we probably have a better grasp on reality, and we don’t care what Oprah thinks about anything.
I agree, everywhere you look there are celebs saying who they are going to vote for…Even i don’t tell anyone who i will be voting for when it comes to elections… It should be your own desicion and there are people who are easily swayed by what other people think and say esp when they hear it from celbs. Alot of people have cleb idols and are fanatics so they would vote for whom ever their idol is voting for… I think it’s fine for clebs to have an opinion, but why do they need to advertise who they are voting for everytime they get the chance? They are using their fame to get people to vote for who they want to win.
HOLD UP
1. celebrities arent arent pushing people to vote for people they are expresing their opinions just as carrie underwood - so FAIL CARRIE UNDERWOOD
2. umm since when is carrie underwood someone who is SOO reliable on politics? - FAIL AGAIN CARRIE UNDERWOOD
3. RESPECT OUT THE WINDOW FOR HER
Wow, people here totally just took this whole thing the wrong way. In no way did Carrie ever say she had no respect for any celebrity in particular. This is something JustJared.com added by themselves to rouse everyone. It’s not that she doesn’t respect them because they tell who they are voting for, it’s because she doesn’t respect the ones that try to get the public to vote for a specific candidate. (I can’t believe I’m saying this) but if celebrities were more like T-Pain, and telling people just to vote, not who to vote for, then we wouldn’t have this little problem now would we? (But, that might be because he has a little problem with voting right now.)
This was just like the whole Jessica Simpson thing. Carrie mentioned one thing and intended it to be completely harmless. But media and people everywhere always completely screw up what she says.
Celebs have freedom of speech like every other person in this country. Whether you are a doctor, plumber, teacher or actor you have the right to say who you want to vote for. You also have the right to choose NOT to discuss this information. No-one should be criticized for either choice.
You may not like their choice but they have the right, to speak out just like you do. That does not get taken away when they become famous.
I have lost all my respect for Carrie. Just sing and STFU. If shes not putting down Jessica and Tony, now shes bashing celebrities who have opinions and voice them out. Whos next, Jesus?
Wow Kimmie, you make me laugh lol. She didn’t put down J&T smart one. She just said Tony calls her sometimes, that was back in MAY, and the media blew that WAAAAAY out of proportion just like they are doing with this. And why bring Jesus into this? Get yourself together and try to make sure what you’re saying doesn’t sound like it’s coming out of your ass.
Some of you people really piss me off. If you don’t know the REAL FACTS, don’t act like you do.
Shame on you JJ for adding those unnecessary names to cause controversy so you can have more comments. How about posting the actual article/interview and not making **** up?
At last we have somebody in show-business with class and an intellect. Well done Carrie.
Unfortunately some people commenting here can only insult Carrie Underwood. It is only too apparent that they do not believe in democracy and are bitter and twisted and full of hate. It is a sad indictment of the American people that so many comments here are reminiscent of the bullying facists in Germany when Hitler came to power. None of you would have the support of Senator Obama and you do him no service by your hateful utterances.
Carrie Underwood is a lady that believes that all American voters need to make a considered opinion on who to vote for and not be swayed by the views of celebrities. To any intelligent person that is a view that makes perfect sense.
Unfortunately there does appear to be an intellectual desert within America and those voting for Obama include a vast number who are voting based on hysteria and emotion rather than logical reasoning. (Intellect - the faculty of reasoning and understanding objectively. Consequently those who are not objective but biased cannot make an intellectual decision.)
The fact that this election is likely to be decided in favour of a political party which had all the main stream media and far superior spending power behind it indicates that it is not a truly democratic election and is flawed. The fact that America’s voting system is not actually democratic does not help either.
As for the Hollywood cheerleaders for Obama, they are merely fantasists and utopians who are paid far more than they are worth and mainly use their money for selfish and egotistic purposes. They are not good role models considering their appalling lack of morals.
So I am with Carrie, get rid of the BS and the egotistic bullying celebrities of dubious character. Let’s face it Senator Obama would do better without any endorsement from them.
I agree. When Celebs have extreme politics it’s hard to see them as the character they are portraying.
And of course everyone has a right to their opinion no matter what their line of work. But for those of you responding with nasty insults, like ‘dumb’ ‘idiot’ or ‘*****’….really? Grow up. You have nothing educated to say? It’s immature. Don’t insult someone with nasty names just because you don’t agree with their beliefs. To each his own man.
Someone should tell her to shut up.
Celebrities have their own right to endorse whoever they wanna endorse.
Other people have their own opinions, why not celebrities? …
Wow she nailed it! The girl just moved up a few notch’s in my book.I hate hate HATE it when some celebrity tries to tell me how to vote. They need to shut the hell up and sing or act. I guess what really makes it so bad is they all sound so damn dumb whenever they endorse someone. Bruce Springsteen,”I just want my Country back- Don’t YOU want your country back?” IDIOT!! My country is still here, always will be..Or Hayden Pantieerie (sp?) “Vote for McCain and die” IDIOT!! They can’t discuss any issues because they DON’T KNOW ANY ISSUES!! And anyone who is influenced by any of them are even bigger fools!!
She’s an idiot. What she says is a contradiction.
Ms. Underwood, WE ARE smart enough to make our own decisions, and celebrities will not influence us. So shutup and let other people exercise their freedom of speech.
I completely agree with Carrie. I’m so tired of hearing all these celebrities opinions. I have my own opinions and when I keep having theirs thrust in my face it just makes me lose all respect for them. I just want to be entertained by them. If I need to know something about
politics I’ll watch the news or read the paper.
I completely agree with Carrie! I wish the celebrities would just stick to entertaining and leave their opinions at home. I have my own opinions and if I need more information I know where to get it. All their opinions in my face is a total turn off!!!
Maybe you should read this article from the LA Times, where most of the celebrities are. They support Carrie and rightfully so. All the haters are here are simply that and blowing this out of proportion. It is a celebrity giving a simple opinion.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag/2008/11/who-did-carrie.html
she is sad cause she can’t say i support the republicans hahahahahaha
go on Oprah , Jen , I love you both for supporting Mr President Obama
Your friend from Egypt , we are so happy in Egypt
I think it got deleted since I actually posted a link for the LA TImes because even they did an article agreeing with Carrie and obvisoulsy LA is where most the celebs live - and they still supported Carrie. She hadan opinion that is being blown out of proportion. You should be able to find it at the LA Times online. Either way, she is being supported, even by newspapers like that. and did nothing wrong, even if some thing it could have been worded differently. Celebs have no business pushing their beliefs on us. Yes, they can encourage us to vote and have a simple opinion on who they support but to try to shove their beliefs on us, which is what Carrie is talking about, is wrong and there are many that hate that some celebs are doing that..
Kudos to Carrie for standing up for her right to keep her life private. I get soooooo beyond annoyed by celebrities endorsing this or that candidate and/or musicians shoving their political agenda down my throat in the media or in concert.
Carrie is TOTALLY a breath of fresh air. It’s too bad not more celebrities don’t have the guts to think for themselves and speak their mind rather than just blindly following the herd.
She is so right! I mean look at Oprah. Who the hell is she? God? Matt Damon he is another ass hole. (Spelled his name wrong, but don’t care). I saw a interview today on CNN or Fox News and they were talking with this woman (she was black). They asked her ” Is your vote based on race or color” and she said YES. That is not right. God help us all now.
And folks, Carrie never mentioned any of those names in her actual article. Those were all added by JJ to sensationalize the story.
I have to agree with her this time. While it is a free country and everyone has freedom of speech, it is different when celebrities voice their opinions, relatively speaking. You won’t have some average Joe plastered all over the internet telling us to vote for x-candidate. Even if you do, no one is going to care. However when a celebrity does it, they could potentially be role models for thousands of young voters who know nothing about anybody’s policies and vote x-person because everyone is telling them too. Sadly, I do believe there are people like that…
@Couper: I totally agree with you.
I’m not a fan of Carrie but I definitely agree with what she said.
Come to think of it, this is the first time an election became so celebrity infested. Bleh.
Very eloquently stated. Though it does trouble me that some bloggers have to resort to profane language and name calling. Where in the article did it state that she was a Republican? Carrie was just exercising her freedom of speech and freedom to cast her own vote without making it publicly known. I too feel that celebrity endorsements are unnecessary. Celebrities get paid to entertain us, not attempt to educate us.
Who does she think she is? Let’s just say all she did was win a singing contest and she thinks she can criticise someone as wonderful with great life accomplishments and contributions as Oprah Winfrey! Actually, I have no respect for this singing ***** who obviously thinks too highly of herself. Not that I ever spent a dime on any of her music, but let’s just say this pretentious act of hers will certainly make sure I NEVER spend a penny on any of her music or whatever future projects she takes part in.
I have to say Amen to Kendra (post 341)… you understand it all perfectly! GREAT post!
no credibility. she did not just win a contest, as she is on this site and is called a superstar. she is a grammy winner, cma female vocalist of the year, grand ole opry winner.
at least speak the truth.
i think that is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard.
celebs have a right like everyone else in american dont they to say what they like????????????? its written in your constitution isnt it??????? she is an idiot.
THANK YOU CARRIE!
I cannot stand turning on my tv and seeing ANOTHER celeb endorsing a candidate, especially obama. She is completely RIGHT about how its almost saying people cant make their own decisions.
Its one thing to say who you are voting for, I dont care about that, but to go out and campaign and rally votes for a candidate? LET THE CANDIDATES DO THEIR OWN JOB! Damn.
That was really balsy of her to say that though. She knew she was going to get slack for that comment, and I respect her that much more for saying it and not biting her tongue about it.
Agree with her or not, you gotta give her props for saying it.
Carrie is right on! She’s gone from someone I just admired to my favorite Country artist with what she said. She is the anti-Dixie Chicks. Whatever happened to them anyways? Carrie Underwood represents class, the Dixie Chicks represent trash!
Jeez, interesting how the celebs mentioned are those supporting the Democratic nominee (now President-elect). Why can’t celebrities say who they are endorsing??? They ARE also CITIZENS!!
Now — those who actually vote ONLY coz celebs then they’re the ones who are stupid, NOT the celebrities.
Carrie — I used to like you — but — I think you now think you’re better than lots of people. Why don’t you just sing, and DO LEARN about politics and educate yourself.

gizmatage, you’re clueless. Truly CLUELESS! I feel sorry for people like you that don’t know how to think for themselves!
Oh god when did she become so self righteous? If I was an American seeing celebrities endorse a particular candidate I wouldn’t think they’re suggesting that I’m stupid. If you think that then maybe you are stupid. And if you DO vote for a candidate just because your favorite actress is then that is also stupid. But the point it, you want to be able to voice out your support for someone when you really believe them. And celebs don’t force you to vote for someone, when they endorse someone it is a signal for you to check them out first. (from Brunei)
finally someone who speaks the truth. I like her a lot… but now I absolutely LOVE her for saying that!
When a celebrity endorses someone they are not telling you to immediately vote for them, they’re telling you to make an informed decision! So obviously if you see a lot of smart respectable people such as George Clooney and Oprah endorse Obama you begin to think, hmm… let me read more about his policies because these people are strong supporters. You don’t just say “OMG now i’m TOTALLY voting for him!”
That is a stupid comment coming from a “country” girl. I won’t vote for someone just because a celebrity endorses them. Celebs have the right just like any other citizen to publicly proclaim who they’re gonna vote for. I think its courageous of them to endorse whoever they feel comfortable with. Its democracy, bit*h!
whatever if all celebrities were for john mccain her speech would be different and she would appreciate their support but no they are for change .
carrie needs to shut the **** up. who the hell does she think she is policing what others have a right to express. from what i’m reading here it seems her big opinionated mouth just lost her a lot of fans. good!
i think i get what she’s saying. common citizens aren’t likely to reach and affect millions of people. celebrities on the other hand are public figures and what they say or who they endorse may influence the public and their fans into thinking the same way. it’s like endorsing a specific brand or product. the same principle works.
i only wish carrie stated that she refuses to say who she’s supporting and left it at that. she didn’t have to bash the others who openly supported a candidate. and the way she said it…
It’s not like I ever had any respect for Carrie Underwood to begin with, but this makes her sound like a complete and utter idiot.
Carrie is a democrat you idiots. Carrie is saying she doesnt like that celebrities use their position to push their views. Carrie doesnt care that people have an opinion or even express it, everyone has that right. She saying that you shouldn’t take advantage of your celebrity. Carrie is incredibly talented and smart. I agree with her 100%. I dont want to see Ben Affleck trying to sway my vote.
Dont call her idiot
The Oprah, Jen.. things r just what Justjared added up. Its not Carrie’s words.
There is nothig wrong if u dont tell people who u vote for
Btw, she is not stupid at all. Who call her stupid is stupid
wow………..thats really a smart comment from an american star…..well im from europe and here you are able to vote without any popstar, talkmaster or any kind of VIP……….would you like to here from any politican which CD or film you should watch- NO!!!………so called stars should stuck to their buisness and shouldnt take themselves tooo important as most of them do!!!
I totally agree with Carrie! She’s not only talented and beautiful, but she has BRAINS too!!!!!!
****All you idiot Tweeners******* Carrie is a democrat. Its on public record. Carrie is smart. Its on her college degree Magna *** Laude. She never said celebrities dont have an opinion. She said she doesn’t like that they use their position to push their views *************
Get you facts straight. This is not about Taylor Swift who is a sweetheart and talented songwriter. Leave her out of it. Once again Carrie is asked a question and gives and honest opinion and the media twists it all around. Having a voice is what America is about but dont use your celebrity status to change someones vote unless your on their payroll.
Its plain tacky.
That’s one of the most idiotic things I’ve ever heard. Does she lose respect for them because they support a candidate or because they don’t support her candidate?
Celebrities have the right to show support who ever they chose to, just like I do, and just like many political commentators do, I think most people are smart enough to make up their own minds, and saying celebrities shouldn’t endorse a candidate is basically saying most people aren’t smart enough to make up their own minds which is really insulting.
i think what she is trying to say is that its not very professional to use their fame to influence people over the political view
their profession is to express art…. not political view
Post Election: Barack Obama as president.
Carrie, you can eat your “no respect” word over and over again until you can no longer “sing to escape”.
Couldn’t agree more. Celebrities’ opinions do affect the public’s decision alot. My friends they all support Obama, without even giving McCain a chance.when asked why, they couldn’t give me an answer. Please don’t get me wrong, i’m not a supporter of McCain. But i do think the celebrities opinions are pretty extremist; everyone supports Obama. Makes me wonder, they said it because they really feel that way, or because majority says so?
LOL at whoever said she has no credibility, neither does any other celebrity. Do you really think people care what Lindsay Lohan, Hayden Panettiere, etc stand for? Do you really think they even KNOW what the heck they’re standing for half the time? NO. If anything, Carrie has the most credibility out of anyone seeing as she actually went back to graduate college for Broadcast Journalism. Which means if she wasn’t the superstar she is today, she would probably be on the news right now talking about this election.
I totally agree with carrie… now she is my hero!!!
Celebrities, just like the rest of us, have a right to an opinion. And all of us should be informed on politics and the leaders who will affect how this country is run - to not talk about issues is irresponsible. So Carrie, I will use my own brain to a.) not buy your music and b.) to turn the radio to another station when your ****** music comes on.
Kiss your career goodbye Carrie lololololololol
