OlderCarrie Underwood: No Respect for Celebs who Endorse Candidates
Country music superstar Carrie Underwood has lost all respect for Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney and other celebrities who have backed candidates for office.
While talking about the presidential race with TV Guide, Carrie revealed, “There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate.”
“It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions,” she explains. “I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to. Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it’s from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape.”

right on! i totally agree with her. some people aren’t making educated decisions because they are inundated by celebs yapping about who we should vote for. hopefully, most people have the good sense to not let what some celeb says sway them.

Escape from music?!… this is TOO funny, but also shows how dumb she is… how can we escape from economic meltdown, guantanamo bay, wars with her song like “Before he cheats” or “wasted”?! People, Carrie’s in country music, where the big celebrity endorsements were John Rich and Toby Keith. They’re both loudmouths who support John McCain.

Um well good for her except she has no right to say that when the other celebrities have more experience and have more talent than she wil ever have she is a one hit wonder, so I dont think George Clooney or Oprah gives a **** in what she thinks or me for that matter.

Celebrities back a candidate and say that their favorite is the best and they promote them but it’s not that people absolutely have to vote for their choice, people still have a mind and they can form an opinion on their own. Celebrities just guide them. But in the end it’s still the people’s own choice.

I agree and boycott all those people who push their candidate down my throat. Needless to say, I won’t be watching Oprah, or anything put out by Clooney, Pitt, Jolie, Damon, and many others going forward. I pay close attention to who these people are.
When they tell me to vote for the other side, they also tell me they don’t respect me as a fan, a former fan that is.

I choose to boycott anyone who tries to push their candidate down my throat. Needless to say, there were a lot this year. So long Clooney and Pit. So long Damon. They won’t get another penny of my hard-earned money. They have their principles. I have mine. That’s the beauty of this country after all.

wow this girl is so freakin judgemental!!!! does she not realise what a huge mistake she just made by saying that? she pretty much insulted 99 percent of hollywood. These are people who she then has ot see at award shows, perform to, interact with. Chances are they all just lost respect for her as well. Because I know I sure did.
Thats ridiculous. Why shouldnt celebrities be able to voice their opinions. They have a huge public outlet and alot of people listen to them, i think its great that they take advantage of that and bring awareness to the election. And i trully doubt there are people going out to vote for someone just because a celebrity is voting for them. Carrie think before you talk.
Nice. Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney?? WTF? Those two have barely said a word about who they are backing….why not mention celebs like Matt Damon and P. Diddy who are in our face 24/7 with Obama-ness? Or Jon Voight with his McCain craziness? I respect Carrie Underwood for what she says but I think Jen and George were the wrong celebs to pick as an example.
