Orlando Bloom Supports Barack Obama

Orlando Bloom Supports Barack Obama

Orlando Bloom wants you to vote for change, as shown in the latest PSA. Here’s what the 33-year-old British actor had to say:

“Hey, I’m Orlando Bloom. I’m here in the Obama California headquarters… Barack Obama, for me, is head and shoulders above anyone else and it’s time for change and he brings the hope of the country.”

He just lost Carrie Underwood as a fan. She certainly would not approve this message.

NO GAYS!!!!

# 5

being a brit, may i say..what the bloody hell has it got to do with Orlando Bland !

# 6

Um…Isn’t he Brittish? Our opinion doesn’t mean squat when they pick their leader, why should we care who he supports?

# 7

Why would he loose carrie underwood’s support? Is she a a palin supporter. I did not know Underwood is that stupid. She is entitled to her party preferences the same way I am entitled to think people who vote mcain/palin at this juncture in history are down right ignorant.

Lilmisssuri @ 11/04/2008 at 1:04 pm

Hello you are not a citizen of The United States of America!!!! Shut up!!! McCain Palin 2008

seriously it’s one thing for an American to say who they support but he is from england. I am honestly so glad that after today I wont have to hear anything else about mccain or obama and this election.

who the hell cares if hes British.
maybe he is an American citizen.
hes working on American films all the time.
how the hell would you know.

you guys need to shut up already chill out.

and what if he’s British?
doesnt mean he cant voice his opinion.

seeing how hes working on American films sometimes, its common sense that he would be an American citizen.

you guys need to shut up and chill.

Orlando why did you waste your time voicing your opinion to the american citizens?I mean they voted twice for GWB they love blood and wars not hope and change

shenanyginz @ 11/04/2008 at 1:15 pm

when did orlando turn 33?
Last time I checked he was 31

I doubt he’s even an American citizen.
He doesn’t pay taxes here, at least full taxes.
So be quiet, Orlando, and stop meddling in our affairs.

Vote for Obama and you’ll see your taxes go so high you won’t be able to afford milk at the store. He and Biden even want the UN to be able to tax Americans. Nice.

its so funny how most of the people here are saying **** about him cause hes supporting Obama and some of you guys are supporting McCain.

you guys just dont know how big the election do you.
its not going to just affect us. its going to affect so many countries on so many levels.

-sigh-
if only he can call me (:

Dear Orlando Bloom,

Die.

Signed,

America

I’m pretty sure he is English meaning he is NOT an American. You can take your opinion and shove it, Orlando. I am so sick of foriegners telling us who to vote for. If you want to have a say in my country’s election, become a citizen. Until then, butt out.

is Bloom llowed to vote in our country?

isn’t he British?

anonymousdiva @ 11/04/2008 at 1:28 pm

You children are so stupid, it embarrasses me as a fellow US citizen.

News flash, all you numbnuts: this election is choosing the leader of the FREE WORLD.

If you think that doesn’t affect EVERY person, regardless of citizenship, then you’re too stupid to even be vcoicing an opinion on UustJared, much less actually casting a ballot.

@ shenanyginz: he is indeed 31-years-old.

afghans&irakis are american citizens? No but that didn’t prevent you to dictate your will …

Wow, some of you are cruel. He’s just voicing his opinion. I understand he’s british but many actors from all over the world are speaking up. It kind of affects everyone especially actors who work in america. If you don’t like what he’s saying cool. But name calling is pretty immature.

Thank goodness this election is almost over. I’m so tired of reading about celebrities and their political opinions. They need to shut up, keep it to themselves and leave their opinions in the voting booth.

SammySushi @ 11/04/2008 at 1:37 pm

Gee, what would the Brits think of American actors doing PSAs supporting British candidates in British elections?

The Democratic party is hostage to Hollywood; the Republican to the Religious Right…no wonder the moderates of both parties are annoyed.

I think you have not so much idea of the image that in europe we have about your president and the americans:
bush is like bin laden and the americans are stupid this is the basic idea in europe about you.

Who really cares who Bloom would like to see as our next president. Celebrities will be sorry about their decision when Obama wants to tax those who make higher incomes, which he does, he wants to cut taxes for those who have lower incomes and have higher taxes for those with higher incomes. And if anyone thinks Obama can really change things the way his campaigning would lead you to believe, then obviously you haven’t done your research and don’t understand the whole political process. You’ve been sucked in by his empty rhetoric (basically ranting and raving…I think he took some clues from JFK in that department) There are still so many questions about this man. No one can question John McCain’s devotion to his country, that’s for sure. He is a true American. If anyone thinks that the economy is the result of something GWB did, think again, you need to go a bit further back (like to the Clinton administration) to find where the blame truly lies) Wake up people. Does Bloom think it’ll sway someone’s decision. Only idiots would give any weight to his or any celebrity’s opinion about politics.

Orlando…..SHUT UP! Who cares what you think? Go follow your own politics in GB. Leave us alone.

Don’t try to talk for all Europeans, you silly leftist punk.

I’m one Euro who is perfectly willing to let Americans choose their own prez. They don’t need our advice. McCain is no worse than Obama, despite the latter’s humongous cult of personality. They are both politicians, no matter what star struck and vapid young celebs tell you.

Few years from now, everyone will be wondering why they ever mistook Barack for the messiah.

But it is the US election, and the Americans get to vote. No one else. And that’s the way it should be.

Greatest nation in the world (even with all its problems). Others are nice to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. We don’t get involved in your politics and elections, why do you feel it’s necessary to get involved in ours.

like it or no but by your fault this election concerns almost the whole world since you pretend to dictate your conception of”democracy”to others countries and since my country is in Irak with your troops

Event though I think that Obama and Mccain are the same in fact (cfr members) and they already showed that by their speech in front of AIPAC who’s the real winner in any case

He’s been an American citizen or not, doesn’t madder, because he lives here and he can support who he want to. And I also agree with # 29, because the American political in fact affect all the world.
I just didn’t understand why Carrie Underwood is in this article.

he’s not even american citizen!

andamentothat @ 11/04/2008 at 2:01 pm

Are Heidi Klum, Seal and Orlando even eligible to vote?

Who gives a shiit what Orlando Bloom has to say?

He is not even a US citizen! Go away!

Orly!!! I love you even more!!! I am support Obama too and I’m so surprised and happy that you are supporting him! You are a smart guy!! I’m just sad because you didn’t called my house asking me for a vote. :-)

You know what, I’m not an american either but I support Barack Obama. Whoever you guys vote to be your president it will make a difference not just in your country but in the WORLD. So I think we are entitled to an opinion even if we can’t vote.

Carriefan @ 11/04/2008 at 2:11 pm

For sure this guy is a clown so is Fluff Daddy, so is Lohan, so is Beoyonce, so are heidi and spencer…carrie underwood got it right. The message that should be getting out is the importance to educate yourself and vote for the person YOU feel is the best representation of our country. We vote in private for a reason, public endorsements outside the realm of politics are annoying and pointless. Obama is going to win today becasue the idiot kids are voting for him cause their favorite star says to…

i'm watching you @ 11/04/2008 at 2:12 pm

I’m Republican and still his fan! After all it’s just his opinion!

well considering everything that happens in America affects everyone and every other country in the world he should be aloud to at least voice his poinion like every other star has done!!!!!!!
Americans should stop being so selfish in thinking that it only involves them

All these “celebs” should take heed of Carrie Underwood who by far seems to have the most common sense of any celeb that has spoken to the press. I liked Orlando Bloom until I read this. He should stick to acting and keep his politcs to himself.

Today, and for the past two years, I will again receive phone calls all evening long wishing me good luck for the elections - My name is John McCain but I am not the republican candidate - I’m only an african american working as a mechanic. I’ll be voting for Obama you can bet on that…MLIC

No FOREIGNER should be telling Americans who to vote for, especially a silly headed actor!!! GET LOST ORLANDO!!!! SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

What is that hope Orlando? What is that change Orlando? That’s what I thought, you don’t know either.

Could this guy be more of a lame ass??? Now he’s trying to act like he knows something - anything? - about American politics. Yes, it’s true that it’s a global economy now, blah, blah, blah. But he has NO DAMN business trying to influence American votes. he’s probably read where Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp supports Obama so he’s glomming onto the bandwagon. This guy is seriously retarded. HEY ORLANDO, QUIT WORRYING ABOUT AMERICA AND FOCUS ON YOUR OWN CAREER!!!

mrskstone @ 11/04/2008 at 2:23 pm

He’s suddenly SO much less attractive to me now. Poor, dumb Orlando. He’s just another one of the Hollywood sheeple.

Wonder what kind of holy hell would be raised if an AMERICAN celebrity tried to go to Britain & tell them how to vote??? WOULD HE WANT LINDSAY LOHAN TELLING HIM TO VOTE TORY OR SOMETHING???? Just because he has a mansion over here doesn’t make him American. SHUT THE HELL UP ORLANDO!!!

georgewasthecutestbeatle @ 11/04/2008 at 2:28 pm

Oh, that’s just wrong! I guarantee you the only thing this IDIOT knows is where the get the best coke in LA. I have this thing about people trying to tell me who to vote for. I mean, basically he’s saying uh, vote for Obama because I’m telling you to. I hate it when I see any celeb trying to yak up a vote but especially this clown!!!

This is such bull. I’m an American, I voted for Obama/Biden today, and I think that Orlando (and all other non-American celebrities) telling Americans what to do and who to vote for is wrong. Yes, the election in the US can have an effect on the world, but ALL elections in ALL countries can have an international effect, it’s not my business to tell anyone in another country what they should do, and it’s not their business to tell us what to do. If Orlando is so invested in US politics, then he can fully invest himself like Craig Ferguson and Charlize Theron and become US citizens and then campaign and vote for whom he chooses.

Rachellelala @ 11/04/2008 at 2:34 pm

Why do you think all of the celebrities campaign for obama? Obviously Orlando Bloom can’t vote since he’s not a US citizen so there must be something that these celebrities get out of supporting him. I just wish we all knew what it was.

Another Movie star with nothing better to do than try to talk a bunch of groupies into voting for Obama. There goes another movie maker I won’t be watching. Wow at this rate I won’t be wasting any of my time at the movie theaters. When are these people with more money than brains going to figure out that the rest of us that actually have to work for a living don’t want a racist, taxing, baby killing, idiot for a president. Just Shut Up Orlando Bloom, and go do what you are paid an ass load of money to do, stupid movies.

Don’t care about his politics, just glad to see him film something.

crazydiamond @ 11/04/2008 at 2:52 pm

Seriously, I’m thinking of switching from voting for Obama to voting for McCain!!! I would hate to think I had anything in common with this moron.

WHY DO CELEBRITIES THINK WE CARE ABOUT THEIR OPINIONS????

He might be allowed to vote, a British student I knew in college was over here studying for a year & she was amazed that she was allowed to vote. But even if he can, WHO CARES WHAT HE THINKS????

I’m sure O. Bloom is an expert.! He probably has played the part sometime in his career. Most Hollywood types can,t keep a marriage together, have screwed up kids can’t stop abusing drugs, alcohol, are sex
addicted etc. etc… and yet they still think us working class people are too stupid to make up our own minds. Celebrities should keep to their fantasy world and keep their opinions to themselves.

.............................. @ 11/04/2008 at 3:24 pm

right on # 38……i am getting sick hearing tht mccain is like bush and obama is like this great mesiah….total B.S…..i hardly believe in any politicians. most of them will only say wht do you want to hear, but once they got in position most of the promises washed ashore. for me i just wait till obama become the president and see what he’ll gonna do. i really hv a big skepticism about him nor his integrity but this will be solve once he become in the incumbent oresident, then i can give much opinion about the guy. i never heard much of his accomplishment nor he is known much before he started campaigning to become a president. then everybody celebrity, most black folks, some white folks thinks he is a facilatator of change and the one who can save us through this huge mess. i don’t believe it at all unless he proves me wrong. i would say it’s a big change for black folks because they can inspire themselve to dream big now tht there’s somebody who look like them in the whitehouse. perhaps they will also learn to improve their live w/ o crying foul or killing each other or deal drugs or living in projects. i will give exemptions to the decent blacks ,educated, intelligent, hardworking, fairminded ones and some well-to do black folks. i really admire them the most because they help make the society a better place. yes there is some lowlife white folks, hispanics and few asian folks in tht department. i do hope all these people will open their eyes and realize that we all hv our chances to improve our life if we worked hard our dreams.i also share my great admiration to the black bloggers even though some of them are bitchy but they’re very well-rounded,intelligent,informative,creative,tolerant about other folks calling them names. i also can sense tht most of the trashtalkers or idiotic talkers are somewht white folks, it’s really shame and verry sad.i really thought before every intellgent folks who converse intelligently here are mostly white folks until they hinted their ethnicity. i am a little bit shocked about it and am also am stunned to learned a lot of hateful, vindictive white folks giving their moronic comments.i also appplaud some decent, intelligent white folks ,europeans, hispanics and asians. this cyberworld indeed unique and for the republicans and democrats goodluck

He does not need to be a US citizen to voice his opinion, doesn’t he. Also, for sure he is paying taxes in the US you idiot! Sick of these idiots who don’t think non us citizens are not paying big fat taxes for this country. If he earns his money in the US, he has to pay US taxes no matter what nationality he is!

carrienae @ 11/04/2008 at 3:36 pm

dream… are you kidding me???? of course he has to pay some taxes ‘coz he earned millions of dollars from an american production company…. pays for his extravagant lifestyle which you do not have. it’s all about work not the priviledge of being a part of the American politics. He better just entertain us, get paid, pay his due and buzz off.

he can be a british actor and still be an american citizen….
not just americans are american citizens

and i think its pretty stupid how some ppl are now voting for mccain just because alot of celebrities are endorsing obama,
if you had any sense at all you would vote for whoever you like not because whoever is supporting them…

p.s. i don’t get it

Orlando Bloom makes the worst descions in the world, his choice to walk on some guttering outiside a house then falling and breaking his back, his choice to join a cult religion (SGI) his movie choices, his management choices, his choice to crash his car and leave all his injured friends behind, his choice to tell everyone to go green and then driving a gas guzzler, and his latest choice- ******** a panty model who had an affair with him while she was still with her boyfriend and both of them doing obvious pap set ups as they are both famewhores who cant just do an honest days work but want it the easy way by acting like heidi and spencer!!- Orlando Bloom telling america how to live their lives and what to do- if hes saying Vote obama, I say vote for the other guy lol

Orlando Bloom is the WORST person to tell anyone to do anything when he is a w@nk.

oo well done to orlando:D
i love him and he can have his opninon x

But he isnt just having an opinion.. he is telling the world- telling us- as if we give a flying fuq!

Orlando Bloom is a has been actor, he peaked as Legolas and shouldve gave up acting then, he is a crap wooden actor, nobody wants to know his opinion, he should be flipping burgers in mcdonalds by now.

He isnt a regular american guy, trying to work for a living, he is a brit millionaire who doesnt live permenantly in USA, His opinion is invalid, and NO- actually america doesnt affect the rest of the world, where I live it hardly effects it.

Orlando Bloom is one of the thickest celebs out there- he isnt an actor anymore as he doesnt act anymore, so he has an effing cheek, like he does when he is telling us to use energy saving light bulbs, and then breaks every green rule in the book- he is disgusting, why the fangirls like him I will never know all he cares about are t!ts and ass and money.

Only Idiots believe that GWB is NOT responsible for the state of the world today. When are you going to stop the “it;s all Clinton’s fault”
crap? Greed has affected both parties, but it was GWB who got us into the war in Iraq that has cost billions of dollars and more important, too many lives.

This is wonderful thing @ 11/04/2008 at 4:38 pm

@redneckjustice Then you can go fight your next wars against terror *cough for oil cough* without the aid of British troops too.

someone needs to tell these retarded foreigners that we don’t care who they want for our AMERICAN President.

#28 and all you others…yeah, we get that our next President will have an effect on the whole world…what you don’t seem to get is that your opinion on who that next President might be is irrelevant. You don’t get to vote, get over it.

Uh…how do you guys know for sure that Orlando Bloom isn’t a citizen? Britain allows dual citizenship. So he very may well be an American Citizen who is allowed to vote.

i.e. Mark Ronson, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, etc

hes not even a ******* american citizen he should just stay the **** out of it and stick to his lil god save the queen ****.

be honest, is he worth it @ 11/04/2008 at 6:35 pm

Interesting indeed… although I am not an American and can understand how to outcome of this election MAY affect the world, I agree with Carrie. Know the issues and vote based on what you think NOT what your favourite celeb thinks. JUST VOTE. Anyway after watching Mr. Bloom’s lovely perfomance one has to wonder why? Why do this? Is it just me or did he have to read Barack’s name off the sheet? Oh, Orlando I just don’t know anymore…

Orlando Bloom needs to GO HOME.

Just because Orlando may or may not be an American citizen doesn’t mean he can’t voice his opinion. All of us viewers from around the world voice our opinons all the time. We say what we think is best not only for The United States of America but also for the rest of the countries. Who you vote for makes a huge impact.

OBAMA 08! :)

Orlando's yankee husband @ 11/04/2008 at 6:59 pm

Unfortunately, in those states where same-sex marriage is legal, gay marriage does not autimatically smooth the way for foreign-born spouses to receive citizenship in the US.

Orlando’s interest in US politics is natural and just. Most of the world cannot wait to see the last of Bush. The last thing the planet needs is for McCain to resurrect the failed policies and limited outlook that has brought the US to its knees.

The US is indeed a free country and anyone who visits it, works here, or is married to a US citizen, is free to speak their minds and support causes they believe in.

Why would Americans want the opinion of a has-been British actor who only comes to the US to collect big paychecks, pose for the paparazzi and go to parties to find new models to bring home and fuq?

Give it up Orlando, you’re no longer relevant.

Orlando and everyone in this country has a right to voice their opinion.

Orlando doesnt support Obama for gay marraiges, he couldnt give a fuq, he doesnt believe in marriage anyway as most SGI’s dont care for it, so that I doubt is the reason, I reckon he supports him for publicity and because his manager supports him too, if people believe anything BARACK OBAMA says will materialise when he is elected then you are very niave.

People seem to think because he is black he will make a difference- thats foolish and racist, his image has been cultivated and marketed well, the real OBAMA is prob as bad as the rest.

You will see..

And orlando being gay? Keep dreaming, hes had so many vaginas you would be shocked and hes had 6 in the last fortnight!!

PEAACE ! ♥

yeah - gun violence, high income inequality, no universal healthcare coupled with corrupt health insurance companies, sky high tertiary education fees - don’t exactly sound like the best country in the world to me. Maybe you should get out more.

Orlando is entitled to his opinion. The whole world has had to deal with the mess created by the Bush Administration.

no everyone loves bush @ 11/04/2008 at 8:21 pm

WTF is up with all these European people thinking that the US loves war, and loves Bush. Hey you guys are european you dont have to live here with our rules or deal with Bush like we do. Im american and I hate him and what he has dont to our country. Geez it’s not like Europe never had a war and is peaceful all the time.

Of course he supports Obama, he is the chic in canidate, and he is just like the most of the Hollywood sheep. It takes real guts out there to be a republican. It pisses me off when celebrities use their fame to try to sway people to vote for candidates they like. Most of them have no idea what it is like to live a normal life, that involves going to work everyday, trying to pay bills, and taking care of kids, without paid nannys. I mean why should I listen to people that need personal assistance just to survive. And then of course so many of them have such wonderful personal lives. They jump from partner to partner, divorce at the drop of a hat, cheat use drugs, party like crazy, and I should listen to them. Most of them are not very intelligent people. Now give me someone with a poli sci degree, and some experience in politics and I will at least listen. I hold citizenship in three countries, but I consider myself an American, and I vote here. I would never presume to get involved with the other places I hold citizenship elections because I don’t live there. He needs to STFU, he only knows how Hollywood lives, he doesn’t have a clue about the real heart of this country where the regular good people live.

Wow….discussing politics, …….an interesting change for the typical Bloom thread. I studied my voting handbook on the candidates and issues in this election. I agree with the poster who said that each party serves an agenda of specific groups, i.e. Hollywood, religious conservative groups. I prefer to think for myself and VOTE MY HEART AND HEAD, not someone elses. I dont agree that politicians should promote celebrity endorsements because honestly, I dont think our country’s most crucial decisions should be based on what movie star or musician or talk show host someone does or doesnt support. Sadly, this kind of influence, in any party or decision actually does the opposite affect by robbing individuals of deciding what is best for the world they live in without irrelevant influence. I dont live in Orlando Blooms world, or Jennifer Aniston’s….I dont make millions and have a priviledged existence. My daily life trials and successes are on a completely different level, as are 90% of not just the country, but the world as well. Rich and famous people really dont make the best calls based on the real issues of the common person (which as I said is the majority). Is any celebrity going to root for the person living paycheck to paycheck after the election is over? People always scream for change, but once the elections are over, its back to business as usual, just a different butt in the chair. Obama wont bring change, neither will McCain…..its PEOPLE, real people in their communities that make change from the ground up, not the top down.

I also agree that other people in the world are affected by what happens in the US. Where you dont get to vote in the US elections, at least be constructively, and wisely informed about the US leaders, policies and economics (hating on America and Americans is just treading water - we all struggle too). There must be some fundamental answers for effective change…..I keep hoping for leaders like that to care about whats happening in the world.

I think its perfectly fine for the celebs that dont voice their support for a candidate publicly, but rather voice their support for VOTING - making your voice heard… period. If you dont make your voice heard, no matter how small it might seem, the rich and powerful will always get what they want and we the masses will always keep scratching our heads as to why nothing changes.

congrats, PRESIDENT oBAMA! @ 11/04/2008 at 11:06 pm

Orlando sure knows how to pick them.

the WORLD has hope.

“Orlando sure knows how to pick them.”

Puhleese. Orlando knows how to jump on a bandwagon to try and be associated with the same cause that real A-list knew from the start. Orlando is nothing but a poseur desperately clinging to some kind of relevance and using the Obama campaign for publicity since he has no career of his own to speak of.

Congrats to President Obama, especially from those of us who gave him our time, our donations, and our VOTES! Yes We Can!

See Hollywood Ass holes decides who wins. Along with blacks

WTF???? is he even American???

Yet another example of bloom adding his voice to something he knows little about because its cool - he is the definition of a hollywood sheep.

And he doesn’t have US citizen ship - he would have to give up his UK citizen ship which he hasn’t done….

I have no problem with him having an opinion, but i have problem with him trying to influence politics in another country - plus i bet you anything he won’t be this involved in the UK elections when they happen….. another example of Orlando trying to be cool

he does look cute though! and at least he’s changed his damn shirt!

You get pissed when foreigner people poke in your business but you don’t hesitate to nose of business of other countries.
HYPOCRISY RULES!

@slap He doesn’t have to give up his UK citizenship. Britain allows dual citizenship! God you guys don’t know anything!

“The concept of dual citizenship recognizes that a person may have and exercise rights of nationality in two countries and be subject to the responsibilities of both. The mere fact that he/she searched the right of one citizenship does not mean that he/she renounces the other.

Nonetheless, official U.S. policy has been to discourage the incidence of dual nationality. The Government accepts but does not recognize or approve of dual nationality. The Government accepts it: “only as the result of separate conflicting laws of other countries.”

http://www.us-immigration.com/information/dual_citizenship.html

Although acquisition or use of US citizenship does not of itself jeopardise retention of British citizenship, and there is not objection on the part of British authorities to a dual citizen using a US passport, it should not be assumed that the reverse is also true. A US citizen voluntarily acquiring British citizenship may lose his US citizenship; and a dual citizen who makes use of his British citizenship in certain ways, for example joining HM Forces, taking an oath of allegiance to Her Majesty and in certain circumstances exercising other rights or privileges of British citizenship, may jeopardise his US citizenship. The US authorities expect dual citizens to travel out of and into United States territory only on US passports. British citizens who are also US citizens are therefore advised to consult the US State Department (or if overseas a US Consul) before taking any action which might be regarded as inconsistent with their status as US citizens.

A British citizen may return and resume residence in Britain at any time, regardless of being a dual national, provided that he has not made a formal declaration of renunciation of British citizenship as described in paragraph one above.Such persons may in British law exercise any right possessed generally by British citizens, but of course it is their own responsibility to ascertain from the appropriate US authorities what effect, if any, their action may have on their status as a citizen of that country.

Children born in the United States whose fathers (and for those born after 31 December 1982 either of whose parents) are British citizens become United States citizens by birth and may also be British citizens by descent. [The position of such children is explained in Dual Nationality (Children)].

British citizens who are also citizens of another country are advised that they cannot be accorded official British protection when they are in the territory of the other citizenship. If, under the law of that country, they are liable for any obligation (such as military service) the fact that they are also British citizens does not exempt them from it. ”

dude, you’re not even an american citizen…does he not know that?!

terror cotter @ 11/05/2008 at 1:43 pm

Orlando bloom= is a hypocrite and a pedophile (see his pre pubescent looking girlfriends for reference!), he knows eff all and I think it was all for PR too, what a sad, sad man he is jumping on someone elses bandwagon for a bit pf PR- how effing dare you you british ****.

And for the record, obama is half black- and half white. So calling him the first balck president is wrong, he is HALF AND HALF!

Irena živković @ 11/05/2008 at 2:31 pm

How can an Englishman vote at the American election?

i was there at obama phone bank when orlando bloom filmed these spots.

he said over and over, “i’m a british citizen. i can’t vote. you can. please vote.” he explained how the election would affect issues he cares about, including environment and peace among nations. those parts simply got edited out, for space constraints.

plus, he was generous & gracious with all the obama volunteers, signing shirts, and spending hours making calls.

anyway, whether orlando is british or not, the fact is, obama is a once-in-a-lifetime leader who inspires people from various nations.

You have no idea what you are talking about.
A black man is a black man. Do you have a problem with him
being President? If you saw him on the street you would think he was a black man so that is how he is judged so he would understand what it means to be black.
Besides change comes in steps. It is still a huge step forward for any black man regardless of exactly what percent of his blood is black to become President.

I see the Orlando loons are out.
R-120, what a vile and low Accusation to make you insane loser, none of his former GF’s looked younger than him and definetly were’nt underage, you probly said that simply because they are thin , so Orlando does’nt date chubs, most celebs don’t honey. You must be a fat old hag who once dreamed of Orlando being your boyfriend and realize it will never come true and now you are a very bitter and pathetic person. Orlando always had boyish looks, so if your old haggard a$$ lusted for him what does that make you? Hmmm!

Back on topic, since Orlando lives in LA, he probly has a dual citizenship. so everyone calm the heck down. Geez!

Orlando I didn’t think it was possible for me to love you anymore, but this was the icing on the cake. He isn’t even your president but you still did what you could for him to be elected. Thank you for all your hard work. America desperatly needed Barack Obama.

To all the haters - Shut up you are probably just bitter republicans. So what if he can’t vote. I’m not old enough to vote and I still volunteered. Just because you can’t vote doesn’t mean you can’t do what you can to help a cause you support. It just shows how much the rest of the world wanted Obama to be president. And HE IS!!!!!

To the anti gay person - Go Die. There is NOTHING WRONG with being gay. How can you support Obama and Palin that is impossible. Palin is a sad excuse for a women.

Both OBAMA and MCCAIN I don’t like, but I care the environment and peace, economic. So just like OB I can’t vote, but if I can I would vote OBama.

talkischeap @ 11/05/2008 at 6:44 pm

Should be interesting to see if Obama is to the presidency what Orlando is to acting: lots of charisma, good at speeches, but overrated, over hyped and without any real substance. Just a smooth talker who tells people what they want to hear and will say anything to get your vote.

Nothing wrong with a man or woman of color winning the presidency. The key is that it should be the RIGHT man or woman, and at the right time.

talkischeap @ 11/05/2008 at 7:07 pm

This election also shows what you can achieve in America if you’ve got $600 million or more; the support of Oprah, George Lucas and Barbara Streisand, not to mention the willingness of the MSM to look the other way when it comes to asking the REAL questions. Obama has been less than candid about some things, and you’ll find out what I’m talking about if you read “The Case Against Barack Obama”. The author painstakingly cites his sources. What Obama did to Alice Palmer and his other rivals in 1996 in his first run for political office gives you some insight into how he’s very intelligent - and no different from any other politician. His tactics are shrewd. I see his skin color as a powerful marketing tool and visual metaphor. Biden standing in front of a sign with the words “Change” would not have been nearly as effective. The Dems got their main man in, and that’s the name of the game. And Obama fulfills his own personal ambitions.

The honeymoon will end within the first 6 months of the new administration as Obama and the American people deal with reality. Rumors are already circulating online that the new definition of “rich” has gone down from $250,000 to $125,000. Democrats are known for taxation and tax increases, and Obama’s definition of “rich” will have to change in order for him to achieve his stated goals. Too bad he didn’t level with the American people while campaigning. He’s also suggesting that he’ll need two terms in office to achieve his goals. He failed to mention that little tidbit while campaigning as well.

So it begins…..

talkischeap @ 11/05/2008 at 7:41 pm

@122

Obama is good at making speeches and inspiring people and raising money, but those traits do not automatically make him a natural leader or qualified to lead America as president, IMO.

I respect Orlando’s alleged respect for the environment and his desire for world peace, but the environment is a complex issue that also requires people to think about and address human population growth and jobs, as well as making some possible life style changes (he can start driving a Prius or hybrid instead of an Audi, for instance), and peace is a nice word, but one must always question at what price we want peace. Adolf Hitler could have given the world peace - in exchange for complete compliance and cooperation, not to mention more lives in addition to the six million he already took. At what price do Orlando, other celebrity entertainers and politicians like Obama want world peace? Peace is a nice sounding word and goal, but American’s fought for their freedom and for their rights back in 1776 - they didn’t fight for peace with England and King George III. They fought for and won independence. The rights, freedoms and privileges we Americans have and enjoy today all came at a price. I’m not interested in ‘peace’ if it means surrendering our identity, our Constitution, or our way of life in order to appease other nations and countries.

Obama seems like a man who wants to be popular with everyone. Does Orlando Bloom share those traits or characteristics? On the one hand, it’s nice. On the other, it’s not so nice because you never know who or what kind of person you’re really dealing with. In an American president, that trait can also be dangerous.

how convenient- got pics or it didnt happen

It doesn’t matter if he’s a british citizen. He cares about America and what happens here, and that’s all that matters.

Talkischeap. I am glad to see someone like you having thoughtful thinking among uninformed and ignorant opinions. Change is not necessary going to the better, especially with Obama’s characters and policies. Wait until our enemies attack on our vulnerable weakness, you will see what the price to pay for peace. American benefits cheap labor in oversea countries. Wait until Obama taxes on the products made in China, you pay hefty prices on consumer products. Wait until Obama will bankrupt the coal industry and oil companies so you expect pay higher cost for electricity and gasoline. For the young who are not in high income bracket, not be near to retirement, have no kids, wait until the economy collapses and you can’t find any more jobs. Wait until you have pay higher taxes on incomes, capital gain, and inheritance to spread your wealth to those who don’t even try to find work. I will cancel all my charity contribution and shield much my incomes from paying taxes so the poor who believed his words and voted for him can wait to get help from Obama. This man is out for one thing, himself and his ambition. Only the time can tell sooner than you image, I give six months as talkischeap said.

I have heard people say Hollywood is just like High School. That sounds about right considering the genreal level of emotional and intellectual maturity that exist there. The A list are the popular kids, and Orlando reminds me of someone who wants to be one of the popular crowd, so he does what they do, supports who they do, and acts like they do. Kind of like a puppy trying to get the popular kids to notice him. He has never been quite A list, and he has dropped to c list sliding in to d list, this is just his way of tyring to climb back up the bloody ladder.

Oh gosh all these celebrities get annoying when it came to voting. Hopefully they won’t open their mouths when it comes to something Obama/Biden do in the White House….like help us petition this policy!!! It’ll get so annoying.

I am with Orlando Bloom @ 11/07/2008 at 4:59 am

Hey guys stop bad mouthing Orlando, he is one of the greatest people u can find.
He is British but he lives in LA so he can vote. :)
He is not gay, he has had over 13 girlfriends. Put one and one together hello.
He is 31, hes birthday is on the 13th of Jan 1977.
So stop bad mouthing him and do wat he says.

Um, idiot, get a clue, he’s British so he cannot vote in a US election unless he becomes a US citizen, and that doesn’t happen just by buying a house. He can’t even donate money to a candidate as it’s illegal for foreign nationals make contributions to any US election. He can only visit the US on a tourist visa since he hasn’t worked on over a year and doesn’t qualify for a work visa. So he’s just vacationing in LA, going to parties, picking up chicks, getting his picture taken, watching the remains of his career wash down the drain.

hes actually 31

Yes, he is originally from england. But I’m pretty sure he now lives in the U.S.; in a few years, he might have to pay taxes if he becomes a citizen. Besides, tons of other people around the world support Barack Obama; I think they see him as change for the world not just the u.s.

u guys r so irritating, america affects the whole world. so if OUR ORLANDO here supports OBAMA, will u guys stop shitting around and said “I realise everyone’s entitled to their opinion but is he even an American citizen? Does he pay taxes and vote there?”

I just put my comment on you tube. If he is not American citizen, and I think he is not, what right he has to tell American people, the citizens of America, for whom to vote. The fact that is is a kind of celebrity does not give him any right to make suggestions about that. Only people who are citizens and who are paying for the country administration have this right. I think that he lost his balance. Apologize if he is American citizen.

American people who think that the rest of the world don’t have the right to voice opinions about their county are simply naive. American culture and corporate America are drowning the rest of the world and we have to live with whatever policies your government implements too.

well what can i say what do you expect hes a gay . but i have no idea why he whuld support killing babys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

silverdress @ 12/27/2008 at 2:28 am

“I’m pretty sure he is English meaning he is NOT an American. You can take your opinion and shove it, Orlando. I am so sick of foriegners telling us who to vote for. If you want to have a say in my country’s election, become a citizen. Until then, butt out.”

This is the gist of the messages here? Really? Really? We’re all global citizens. We are all entitled to speak our mind about the affairs of the world, wherever they are unfolding. Because what happens on this planet–anywhere–will affect us all. China decides to ignore another environmental regulation? Georgia invaded by Russia? World economy in flames thanks to the past eight years? Yes. This affects me, and it affects you, and I will use my voice and my rhetoric to discuss all these things to everyone capable of acting on them. Read: Everyone. That means everywhere, everywhere. A nation is not an island!
