Brad Pitt Munches at Mercer Kitchen
A mustache-wearing Brad Pitt grabs dinner at the trendy Mercer Kitchen inside SoHo’s Mercer Hotel in New York City on Thursday night.
Always the gentleman, the helpful 44-year-old actor was seen letting a woman pushing a baby stroller pass before entering the restaurant.
Brad is keeping his mustache for his role in Quentin Tarintino’s Inglourious Basterds. The upcoming ensemble war film/spaghetti western is expected to be released in time for release at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009.
UPDATE: It seems Brad was just walking into the Mercer Hotel but dined at Il Cantinori.

We’ve seen him as a Vegas hustler, a crazy time-traveler, an assassin with marital problems and even as Achilles himself. But Brad Pitt may just have bitten off more action than he can chew with new project Battling Boy. The movie - to be adapted from an as-yet unreleased graphic novel by io9 favorite Paul Pope - has just been optioned by Pitt’s production company, and might just be 2010’s most insane summer blockbuster.
Creator Pope explained the plot of Battling Boy - to be released as a graphic novel in 2010 - like this:
Battling Boy is the son of a god or a super hero—it is left unspecified—who comes down from the top of a mountain (or rather, from inside a cloud/UFO contraption/contrivance from above a mountain top) at this father’s behest, in order to rid a giant city from it’s plague of monsters. Hercules had his labors, Batman has his Gotham, Battling Boy has his Monstropolis.
Monstropolis is a city the size of an entire continent—and it is absolutely overrun with monsters. These are horrible, Grimm’s fairytale, Beowulf-ish monsters, awful things. Child-stealers. Plus some of the vampires and mummies and wolfmen we remember from the old black and white Hollywood horror films. Which—if you remember—aren’t very funny. And they don’t all like each other, either. Even a monster can’t stand another monster, this has been proven time and time again.

Brad is there promoting CCBB with Paramount staff. This movie is an estimated $200 million film and Brad is doing what he is supposed to do in support of this film. Brad flew to Chicago on Tuesday with Paramount staff then they flew yesterday on to NYC.
As all can see Brad has his phone in hand, the phone he told the entertainment reporters in Toronto that he used to stay in touch with his family when he was away from them.
Just like Angie flying in with the twins to appear on the Today show for an interview, then going back to Berlin, then on to Afghanastan with UNHCR by her self, then back to Berlin, then on to LA to honor Clint Eastwood with the kids. Brad then went to LA after filming late on the 28th and then hopping on a plane to LA and arrived on the 29th.
Brad and Angelina are professionals, they are conscientous and do what is expected of them workwise. This is one of the reasons they are both so in demand for roles, studios know they can count on them to do what is needed to support their projects. Sometimes that means they are apart for a few days but not for more than that.

Par-based Plan B is developing a number of high-profile comicbook-based projects, including “Black Hole” and “World War Z.”
Studio is looking to attach a writer to adapt “Battling Boy.”
Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner will serve in some producing capacity.

Let’s all take a moment to congratulate them. They’ve had a very successful week leading up to the new issues that came out yesterday.
1. Star - Reports those pesky “insiders” say that Angie flew back to LA alone because she was mad at Brad flirting with Diane Kruger. They also say that Brad flew back to LA, WITH THE KIDS, to apologize for flirting with Kruger and beg forgiveness. Nevermind the fact that there are pix of Brad at LAX…ALONE. But hey…their intern/troll did their job last week and to spread the story that Angie ran back to LA to get away from Brad’s skirt-chasing and therefore Star is able to quote an “insider” who confirms their story. Nice how that works out, ain’t it?
2. Then we move on to the OuttaTouch intern/troll who spent the week between issues spreading tales that Brad’s a drunkard and partying too much in Berlin and that’s why Angie left for LA. So of course this week’s OuttaTouch “insider” claims that Brad is drinking too much and Angie’s pissed about it.
So you see…the interns/trolls had a very productive 7 days planting bullshit on the blog. Makes me wonder how many of these jackasses the tabs employ at the various blogs and fan forums…

Pitt Seems Less Interested in Hollywood Than in … Everything Else

There was a time when Brad Pitt was the platonic ideal of the alpha male, all-American actor. Blond hair, blue eyes, buff body: Whether rolling with the punches in “Fight Club” or making ‘em swoon in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” the screen was his domain. His forte. His raison d’être.
Today? It seems Pitt’s passion has shifted from the bright lights and the big screen to … just about everywhere else. One day he’s building homes for people displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The next, he’s donating $100,000 to support gay marriage in California. After that, he’s snapping magazine pictorials of his picture-perfect partner, Angelina Jolie. And sometimes, in between, he acts.
As the old saying goes, Jack of all trades, master of none. So, what’s up with Pitt? With so much on his plate and such a diverse palate, can he really be on top of all his endeavors?
Trevor Neilson, Pitt’s philanthropic and political advisor of three years, says yes. Neilson, who also works with Jolie on her outside-of-Hollywood projects, paints Pitt as a kind of Superman-meets-Robin Hood, though perhaps without the tights.
“Brad is somebody who is passionate about promoting justice. Whether it’s dealing with the injustice of a poor family in New Orleans being left behind by their government or the injustice of this ballot proposition, which would strip legally granted rights away from gay couples in California, he wants to use his influence the best he can,” Neilson said. “He doesn’t think that he alone can solve these things, but if he can play some small role, he wants to.”
Lots of small roles seem to be Pitt’s MO these days. When he’s not in France with the fam or in Hollywood with his famous friends, he’s often in New Orleans working on Make It Right, his rebuilding project that aims to finance and construct 150 affordable, environmentally sustainable homes in the Katrina-wrecked city’s Ninth Ward. The first six homes welcomed new residents last week. According to Neilson, Pitt has raised more than $30 million toward rebuilding efforts, including $5 million of his own money. But he’s not just signing checks — he’s also getting his hands dirty.
Brad was involved in every single aspect of that project, from coming up with the idea for the shape of the staircases in the houses, to the roofs,” he said. “Every aspect. Every community meeting. He knows well the people of the lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans now. I think it’s safe to say he’ll continue his focus there.”
Tom Darden, Make It Right’s executive director, remembers one meeting in particular:

AMI MISSES A PAYMENT: The clock is ticking on American Media Inc. as the company failed to make an interest payment worth approximately $20 million to bondholders last Saturday and now has 30 days (from Nov. 1) to make that payment or it will default on all of its debt due to a cross default provision in its debt agreements. AMI, which publishes Shape, The National Enquirer and Star, among others, said Tuesday it has sufficient cash to make the payment and David ******, chief executive officer, said: “We are in the midst of constructive discussions with lenders holding more than a majority of the borrowings under our credit facilities and bondholders holding more than a majority of each series of our bonds to achieve a financial restructuring of American Media that would include a significant deleveraging of American Media. Our board of directors and existing equity holders are fully supportive of these discussions and we are hopeful that these discussions will be successfully completed shortly.” On Tuesday, the New York Post reported that president and chief operating officer John Miller resigned.
Back in August, AMI said it was potentially refinancing its notes and giving bondholders the possibility of warrants for the company’s stock. The refinancing incorporated a combination of $250 million of senior notes due in 2013, $15.9 million of special senior subordinated discount notes due in 2013 and up to $340 million of mandatory, convertible senior subordinated discount notes, also set to mature in 2013. AMI set a deadline of Sept. 25 — a day that came and went without any decision or agreement with bondholders. — Amy Wicks

Just as in a previous interview she said it would be weird for her kids to watch MMS and see their parents when they first met and bickering etc. That statement was taken out of context JMO.

The last I read sales were still way down across the board. I don’t know about Peeps though. Their numbers had actually increased in the last ABC report. They were up either 5 or 7%. Peeps and OK were the only mags who’s sales had increased. Us was down slightly, about 2%, but AMI rags (Star & NE) and the Bauer rags (OuttaTouch & Lies & Shite) were all gasping for air and trying to keep from going down for the last time. I read on Gawker about 2 months ago that AMI was pretty close to filing a Chapter 11 bankruptcy - so let’s all keep that in our prayers…

Am Media has been barely hanging for years. The meltdown in the US economy has been the final straw. Tabs are not a necesessity when people are out of work, 401k disappearing, losing homes. I don’t know how they thought they were going to pay for Radar.com, look for lawsuits over nonpayment of contract terms of this sale. The tabloids with all their bad news and outright lies are not selling, and that is a great byproduct of this sad US economic meltdown. Markets imploiding again today, people want some good news and tabs don’t deliver that. Love seeing the stacks of tabs that are pulled off the shelves unsold.
Most of the tabs may go under with the conditions that exist today, and I won’t miss them one bit. There are no funds to leverage the debts of Am Media. Good riddance to them and their staff that lurk here. Micky D’s is also hiring, people must eat.

Disney’s going down, times are really hard
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The global economic downturn hit Walt Disney Co’s quarterly results harder and faster than Wall Street expected, with the company on Thursday reporting a sharp decline in hotel bookings and softness in advertising revenue at its networks.
Disney’s shares slid 9 percent in extended trade but recovered a bit after executives announced plans to discount stays at Walt Disney World to stimulate bookings in the first half of 2009.
“Consumer confidence is the lowest we’ve seen in over three decades, and even the best product out there is feeling the effect,” Disney Chief Executive Robert Iger told analysts on a conference call.
Disney’s dour view came hours after U.S. retail chains posted their worst October sales results in more than 30 years as consumers cut spending sharply in the face of a financial crisis that has derailed the U.S. economy.
On the call, Iger said senior executives were looking at ways to cut costs companywide. “Significant savings will be delivered,” he said.
The news came as the No. 2 U.S. entertainment company reported a 13 percent decline in quarterly net income due in part to a bad debt charge. Revenue, however, topped Wall Street analysts’ estimates.
“We kind of expected a rapid deceleration, but this is even worse than even we or investors were expecting … in its severity and in how fast this is affecting them,” Pali Capital analyst Rich Greenfield said of the theme parks results.

If it gets her out of my local movie theater, then I’m all for it. I hardly ever watch tv anymore, so that works out pefectly for me…

AMI MISSES A PAYMENT: The clock is ticking on American Media Inc. as the company failed to make an interest payment worth approximately $20 million to bondholders last Saturday and now has 30 days (from Nov. 1) to make that payment or it will default on all of its debt due to a cross default provision in its debt agreements. AMI, which publishes Shape, The National Enquirer and Star, among others, said Tuesday it has sufficient cash to make the payment and David ******, chief executive officer, said: “We are in the midst of constructive discussions with lenders holding more than a majority of the borrowings under our credit facilities and bondholders holding more than a majority of each series of our bonds to achieve a financial restructuring of American Media that would include a significant deleveraging of American Media. Our board of directors and existing equity holders are fully supportive of these discussions and we are hopeful that these discussions will be successfully completed shortly.” On Tuesday, the New York Post reported that president and chief operating officer John Miller resigned.
Back in August, AMI said it was potentially refinancing its notes and giving bondholders the possibility of warrants for the company’s stock. The refinancing incorporated a combination of $250 million of senior notes due in 2013, $15.9 million of special senior subordinated discount notes due in 2013 and up to $340 million of mandatory, convertible senior subordinated discount notes, also set to mature in 2013. AMI set a deadline of Sept. 25 — a day that came and went without any decision or agreement with bondholders. — Amy Wicks

I like Will. If he’s hiding his gay, so what? He’s not the first major star to do that and he won’t be the last. If this becomes a lynching issue for him then it’s going to be because he’s the first really huge black actor to command the box office with EVERY film he puts out. He should have seen this coming. No matter your race - when you achieve this level of success…people WILL go the extra mile to topple you. He didn’t need to go far for an example of that.
