American Idol couple David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell hold hands after sharing a romantic lunch together on Thursday afternoon in Santa Monica, Calif.
David, 25, recently sat down with EW.com to talk about his self-titled debut CD that hits stores on Tuesday, November 18th.
On his ‘rivalry’ with Idol runner-up David Archuleta: “Hopefully, because that means Archie and I are hopefully still doing well! In a sense, it’s fun that that whole rivalry thing got created. If you put me in the same sentence with David Archuleta, I’ll be fine.
On his single “Light On”: “”Light On” is an interesting song. It encompasses almost all of my range. It’s all over the place. That’s Chris Cornell at his finest. It’s got some Zeppelin influence in it; it’s got some ’80s hair-metal influence; it’s got some grunge influence. To me it’s like a rock history lesson put into about a four-minute lecture. It’s fun to play, but it is definitely an intimidating song.”
On his comparison to Daughtry: “I didn’t let it get to me on the show, and I see no reason to let it get to me afterward. I just think this record is me, and if people want to compare it to Daughtry, awesome.”

KimberMeMeMeMe has a couple of recent singles on i-tunes and the sales are practically nil. She’s really a joke … and turning Cook into a joke as well. I also have a few DJ friends who don’t take him very seriously, and they think she’s a loser. KimberMeMe’s friends on myspace are a lot of h o r n y guys … I guess they heard about her reputation … isn’t David the 15th idol contestant that she’s slept with? I think she’s just using David to bring attention to herself. Honestly …. I can’t even listen to the songs on his new album, b/c I think he’s singing to her …. ick ick ick ick ick.
Well Skankmemememe probably got herself pregnant … rumor has it that Cook is shopping around for engagement rings …

they’re not engaged. david denied it on a radio show. she won’t be around much longer.
His PR is apparently making him keep her out of the public eye and David needs to think about why that is. Fans don’t care if he has a girlfriend, just not her. Doesn’t he stop to think about what might be so offensive about her? Other stars don’t have to keep girlfriends hidden–read the magazines. Someone needs to stage an intervention since she must have him brainwashed and will never let go. His poor mom has to be embarrassed—would you want your son to bring this home? And yes, she made her own nasty reputation and she looks and sounds like a 40 year old washed up tranny. You want a bad girl, fine, but she’s a trashy *****—there’s a dilfference.
Dave’s record has now sold almost 600,000 copies in 4 weeks. He’s been in the Top 10 albums on Billboard for 4 weeks, the only debut artist in the list. So he has now passed the ‘idol fans’ salesbase and is selling steadily out in the ‘real world’. He’s doing great.
As to Kim, it’s in her favor that she doesn’t have fake boobs, and she’s stopped wearing extensions. Also, she seems to be able to keep her mouth shut about her romances, as far as I can tell she hasn’t said one word about DC to the media. Now, there is some talk that Dave and she may have split up. She hasn’t been to his performances since the Saturday Night Live show in early November. He’s twice denied being engaged/married, and even said ‘No marriage for me’. He moved in with 2 of his band members in LA, not with her.
That said, he’s tried to be private (after making the initial mistake of asking Kim out publicly) and may simply be hoping to spend his holiday time off with her in some tropical paradise.
Bottom line for anyone who likes Dave, as long as he’s happy with her, good for him.
I wouldn’t get too excited about his sales. There’s talk that his fans are buying up 10-20 copies to gift them to friends and relatives at Christmas. Therefore, this is a temporary boost to sales. But more importantly, other idols such as Taylor Hicks also reached gold by Christmas and then sales dropped dramatically in January and thereafter. I wish him well and I do hope for the sake of his career that they have split up. She’s not an appropriate woman for such a classy guy. I feel sorry for his mom if this is his choice of woman. People are saying David and Carrie Underwood have some sparks flying these days, and I sure hope it’s true.
if david is indeed interested in carrie underwood then good for him. i’m a fan of hers as well as him. i know their styles of music are different, but music is music no matter what.
Not sure if their music is that different. I’m told that Carrie has been a rocker chick lately at her concerts … wonder what that’s all about?? David has attended 2 of her concerts over the past month. My intuition tells me a potential romance is brewing here. I think a romance and a duet with Carrie Underwood is very timely. Sorry … but I will never understand what David sees in KimberMe; she’s too full of herself and David is just not that type of person. I also feel sorry for his adorable mother Beth if Hollywood ska*k is what he likes. Beth deserves much much better from her son.
Who cares who his mother likes? Geez, he’s a rocker, not a choirboy. And what’s so horrible about Kim anyway? So she slept around when she was young- I wonder how many people reading this site are virgins(especially if you look like her)? Or never slept with someone they weren’t in love with? I believe Dave himself may have slept with a girl or twenty. Kim’s got no illigitimate kids, doesn’t seem to do drugs, no criminal record (although I think she was in some minor bar fight once), takes financial care of her family, and does a lot of charity work. What a horrible person.

You say “who cares who his mother likes”? are you friggin’ crazy … you obviously don’t know how close he is to his mom. When you marry someone, they become part of your family. If your family can’t stand your spouse, it’s going to be a sad life, especially when grandkids come along. Also, she does have a criminal record, i.e. a DUI just a few years ago. This person is not exactly a stellar, and Dave deserves better, that’s all.
Yes, I know how close he is to his mother. She did a good job bringing up her boys, and I guess she trusts his judgement.
A DUI from ‘years ago’ doesn’t make Kim a criminal. Everyone makes mistakes, especially in youth.
This is not a defense of Kim; I think she’s vain and shallow, personally. But she could be kind hearted and loving, at the same time. Don’t know- Dave gets to make that judgement.
Also, the CD’s sales are now at 715,000 after 5 weeks.
I personally adore David’s music and I feel that for a 10th spot on the Billboard, I don’t think that’s bad. As for Kim…well, there are a lot of…well, stuff I’d like to say about her, but in respect for the people who do like her, I won’t.

Ew! I’m not jealous, but David deserves MUCH better! It won’t last, I think David will finally come to his senses one day. (I hope!) I am a HUGE David Cook fan and I’d hate to see him lose respect because of that girl.

I’m not saying that David’s sales figures aren’t good, because he is doing quite well and at least he has now beat Taylor Hicks (who also reached platinum by Christmas). But in comparative terms, Daughtry was already platinum by Christmas when his album came out ….
Honestly, I do believe that David lost many fan girls when he hooked up with skankwell. And every sale counts! It’s just the reality of the business folks!
well, i heard something about them breaking up, but i’m not sure. does anyone else have any info on that? i’m just curious.
Vote for the Worst website yesterday said they had a ‘tip’ that Dave and KC broke up just before Christmas. However, they also reported back in Sept/Oct. that Dave and KC were moving in together, a week later Dave rented a house with Neal and Andy instead. So who knows if it’s true. I think it is, though.
I just hope they can both be pleasant about it. She’s been very discreet, and of course he’s always a nice guy (though he was kind of assy about the engagement rumour).

If you read the earlier comments from November, some of us predicted the break up. Their body language in the pictures and especially the video said it all … this relationship was doomed!!! And we predicted correctly. I think Skankwell figured out that David isn’t getting rich any time soon. He’s just a regular idol that will have to work his **** off touring to sell more records. I heard he is touring colleges and playing for about 1,000 people at a time. So he won’t be getting rich any time soon. Comfortable, but not rich … and skankeegirl likes “RICH AND FAMOUS GUYS”. Ya done good ditching her David! You’re better off! the karma between you two was nasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry if this is a little late, but star magazine has reported that caldwell was seen drinking & making out with some no-name bar manager on december 29th. if that’s true, then she’s shown her true colors & i’m glad david got rid of her. he doesn’t need that.
They are no longer together. They split right before the holidays.
