Leo DiCaprio Gives Sex Symbol Status To Zac Efron
Leonardo DiCaprio arrives at the Vue Leicester Square for the Body of Lies premiere in London on Thursday evening.
The 33-year-old actor recently revealed to Fox News that he is thrilled to have shed the sex symbol status of his younger days. “I look at young Zac Efron and think ‘Go get it pal, leave me in peace.’ I was never happy with the teen idol tag at all –-never wanted to be a sex symbol or all that stuff –-it was the work that appealed to me. Really nothing else.”
Leo also added that he has “total respect for how young stars like Zac handle it all. Really total respect.”
UPDATE: FOX apparently fabricated Leo’s quotes. Horrible! The entire entry was removed from the FOX website.

zac is the next big thing. we are witnessing the begins of a HUGE movie star with zac efron. guarantee that in 20 years he is still going to be just as famous and just as talked about, like leo or johnny depp. cant say the same for the rest of that talentless hsm cast
I think Leo is a bit jealous of the mature way Zac is handling himself at such a young age.
It took Leo 30 years to figure out what Zac already knows.
When Leo was 21, he was a media *****, out with a different female every night. He was a member of the “p-u-s-s-y posy.”
Even though Zac is the new heart throb, his acting is no where near leonardo. as soon as he leaves the teenage movie rolls and go to real acting like leo then we’ll see.
is it just me or does it seem like Leo is being somewhat sarcastic? it sorta seems jerk-ish…
Zac is WAY more serious about his work now than Leo the media w-h-o-r-e was when he was 21.

ha, that is the biggest joke ever. this dude was nothing but a sex symbol who paraded a different girl to bars and wild parties night after night. seems to me his “sex symbol” status went to his head for a few years there. for it not appealing to him he sure wallowed in it.
I never thought Leo was a sex symbol. He was hot in Titanic, but 10 years later he’s ugly as ever and lost his good looks.

What a complement coming from someone that Zac has referred to in more than one interview as the one whose career path he would like to follow!

At 21 both popular with the teen magazines; one scrawny and “cute” for his acting roles; one “adorkable” and SMOKIN’ hot… cough… ZE
Both guys who prefer the craft of acting over the “celebrity”
Hope they both continue to make wise movie choices and that we see lots more of them both on the big screen. It’s nice to see guys who actually CAN act… and both of these guys defnitley can.

One thing you’ll learn as you get older: don’t believe everything you read. Many times it’s made up, just to sell magazines & newspapers. That’s why it’s called GOSSIP, sweetie.

#31 and #34 you both are right. I do think Leo was being sarcastic about the natural of celebrity, but I also think Leo was acknowledging that Zac handles his sex-status better at 21 than Leo did during the “Titantic” phase( Leo slept with Paris during that time. Not a smart move)
I’ll bet a million bucks Zac would prefer not to be a sex symbol either. Interesting that Leo felt the same way……he just wanted to act and didn’t want all the celebrity. But Zac has it all over Leo as far as maturity at the same age!!
I wish people would give Zac more credit for what he’s done professionally thus far. He’s worked hard and has made good choices. He will choose his next roles very carefully, I’m sure. He’s grown as an actor, AND as a man. He has staying power, with his talent AND his looks, and he’s just going to mature better and better, like Leo did.
Thought it was really cool of Leo to give Zac a shout-out and acknowledge he’s going to be the next guy to watch!!

i think its wonderful that leo would acknowledge a fellow actor in this way. leo was definitely known as a party boy during his younger days, and it wasn’t until he approached his early 20s that he started doing “serious” roles.
zac has the potential to go far, and with his mature outlook on life and the business, plus his talent and looks i’m sure he’ll achieve his goals.

Leo is a real actor , and Zac always remind me of David Cassidy.
DC was once the hottest sex symbol of the teen/ tween in the early 70’s, but just like other tween favorite, come and go as fast as the shooting star.
hahaha……that’s why it’s great that Zac has a very wide fan base, instead of just teens. They will move on to the next best teen heartthrob in no time, and Zac will have the benefit of having older fans as well. Nice going for him.

Talk what you know. Leo had an Oscar nod when he was still a young teenager -”Gilbert Grape”. So he was a serious actor even when girls were screaming over him.
