OlderBeyonce To Play Wonder Woman?
Beyonce has expressed her Amazonian ambitions, telling the LA Times that she wants to be the first black Wonder Woman. In fact, she’s already in talks with DC Comics and Warner Bros!
She tells the paper, “I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?”
Beyonce continues, “After doing these roles that were so emotional (Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records) I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero.’ Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”
As for costuming, Beyonce wants to stick to the original: “I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it’d be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.”
If America’s ready for a black President, maybe a black Wonder Woman isn’t so far off.

Lynda Carter is too fabulous to be redone by anyone. Besides, she was just photographed somewhere and she looks AMAZING.
No one should be Wonder Woman untill Lynda Carter is no longer with us, and I sincerely hope that is a long, long, long time away.

i the color doesn’t matter why are the blacks making difference all the time? who the **** needs a new wonder women? and who cares about that old **** anyway? yeah she can be wonder women on her video clip but anyway….and she’s NOT wonderful at the first place..
Ok, I agree that there should be some more black peopel palying superoheros I mean not to sound rude or anything but how many well known white ones have we got spiderman, super, batman, x men (except storm) , fantastic 4, hulk etc. I think it’d be nice to have a black wonder woman but I wouldn’t put beyonce as my first choice though i have to admit i was impressed by her performance in the cadillac records trailer. But a superhero movie is not just some emotional drama/ romantic comedy for one thing there’s no singing, second you have to deal with truckloads of comic book fans and action movie fans. Playing a role lik e batman or spiderman isn’t just taking on some character nobody’s heard of you’re taking on an icon even if they aren’t real they still are widely recognizable figures in the world. Still who knows? And they haven’t said that Beyonce is going to get the role its like Angie Jolie inquiring about Catwoman just cause she’s interested doesn’t mean they’re going to hand it to her on a silver platter.
3 reasons why this is a bad idea.
1st) like everyone realizes, she CAN’T act
2nd) it goes against the entire original storyline
she’s suppose to be a Greek princess!
Okay you could make her the new WW, half Greek, half black… have Linda Carter hand her the costume.
This is stretching the story 50,000 miles just because she saw a 70s TV show when she was little girl…
3rd, last and most important reason) SHE CAN’T ACT

She could play a new superheroine character if she likes it that much. Uma thurman did it she can do that too.

Considering how WB and Joel Silver have gotten nowhere on their DC superheroines, it’s doubtful Beyonce will get that chance. She could try for another, completely original superheroine, but it’s still iffy.
I think Stan Lee’s version of Wonder Woman could be plausible, but not with Beyonce.
i would love her to be wonder woman, shes gorgeous and she CAN act, shes an amazing woman and wonder wonder may be an icon, but she was made an icon when america was still heavily racist and she wasn’t written specially for a white woman, and its not an autobiography of a white woman so why does it matter if they make her black, anyway she would do a good job at keeping her sexy :P

I agree with some of the comments made. Some are quite funny. She is a decent singer and I thought she was pretty good in the Austin Power’s movie. HOWEVER, it would go against the whole history of WW. They would have to rewrite everything and I just don’t see how Hippolyta could have a black daughter, so I guess they’d have to rewrite Greek history as well.

As a black male who is infatuated with comic books, I could never see Texas Battle, Corbin Bersen, or ANY black actor for that matter to ever portray the caucasian roles of either Batman or Superman, and I wouldn’t want the same to be done to Wonder Woman as well. She was made as a caucasian, stick to her being caucasian forever.
Like another poster tated, she could easily play a role of Vixen. Or perhaps Texas Battle could play the role of Icon in an upcoming movie.
I don’t want to see characters being forced into popularity with roles originated by white people to suddenly become blacks, because there is a need for blacks to be extravagantly represented in comic books from every company that sells the comic book genre, because we are behaving as if we don’t even have our own original characters. When we do.
Black Wonder Woman? Lets not strive to create extra confusion for the Wonder Woman character than there is already (which is more than sufficient for the character right now).
I Repeat: We already have our own originated black characters, with black origins, and mythology, lets build up on that before we get attached to a white character to become remotely popular.

Love you. As a comic nerd myself, I just don’t see this happening. Besides as echoed before, they’d have to rewrite history…Beyonce can not act and in my opinion barely sing (she does the talk singy thing, which irks me.)
Novel idea, just find someone else. There’s enough super heroes in the DC and Marvel Universes that everyone does not have to fight over one or two of them.
Besides Wonder Woman is not ready for all that Jelly.
Beyonce, you would SINK the wonder woman movie with you awful acting. Sorry, just because you have everything you could ever want doesn’t mean you get to live out your “superhero” fantasies at the expense of a good film. She’s so full of herself. BLEH.
OMG you people take things up the *** she means that she wants to play superhero that would be kinda like the “black wonderwoman” she doesn’t mean that she’s gonna change wonderwoman into a black woman.
