OlderBeyonce To Play Wonder Woman?
Beyonce has expressed her Amazonian ambitions, telling the LA Times that she wants to be the first black Wonder Woman. In fact, she’s already in talks with DC Comics and Warner Bros!
She tells the paper, “I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?”
Beyonce continues, “After doing these roles that were so emotional (Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records) I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero.’ Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”
As for costuming, Beyonce wants to stick to the original: “I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it’d be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.”
If America’s ready for a black President, maybe a black Wonder Woman isn’t so far off.

Oh please, Lynda Carter was not a great actor in Wonderwoman…it was a pretty cheesy show. I think Beyonce will do fine, she doesn’t need acting chops for the wonderwoman role, she just needs to look good in the costume. I think she will be recognized for playing the role of Etta James…I think she will be a contender this time around for an Oscar. I think the academy is dying to give her one and I think this might be her year.
It’s not about race here, it’s about character! Beyonce does NOT suit the Wonder Woman character. She just doesn’t!
About the catwoman disater…
Catwoman’s personality never had anything to do with race, it was more about a woman who considered herself as weak being impowered. That’s why it worked in the television series(and in the batman movie) for her to be played by different actresses, they fit her personality. They were all very strong and charming.
Halle Berry’s problem was in the movie’s writing! It was horrible, it didn’t even resemble catwoman. It was just bad!
Being Greek is part of Diana’s character, Beyonce’s personality just doesn’t fit! Not to mention her horrible acting!

If you don’t look the part to play a certain hero, the character should not be changed to suit some “actress” who fancies having a go at a super hero film. Some characters have changed skin colour over the years like Harvey Dent, Pete Ross and Catwoman but in my opinion this only works if they are secondary characters as an iconic figure like Wonder Woman or Superman etc. are classics that should not be tampered with.
However the one hero that had his appearance changed that has worked for me is Nick Fury. And he wasn’t changed just so Sam Jackson could get a job in a superhero film. He was changed in the comics purposely to resemble Jackson by Mak Millar in the Ultimates, and now he actually gets to play him on the big screen which should be great.

I don’t care about any so-called talks she’s having with DC Comics. Megan Gale is rumored to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming 2011 Justice League movie.
Being black, I think it’s a great idea to have a black Wonder Woman, but not Beyonce. IMO, she’s not that great of an actress. It’s crazy what she asks for to do movies!!! Right now, she’s so not worth it. IMO, she needs to invest in some acting classes. That’s just me.
