By far the movie with the greatest Oscar potential for this year in almost ALL categories. I really can’t think even one movie that can be compared to this epic-romantic spectacle!!!! The definite winner of the 2009 OSCAR NIGHT!!! I just saw the new Australia podcast about the music composision of the film on youtube and the score seems to be fantastic!! HUGH JACKMAN is the most talented (plus gorgeous) leading man today. NICOLE KIDMAN is simply the greatest female star on the planet. BAZ LUHRMANN is such a genius. The combination of the three is…. Even the words can’t describe this!!

Avec sa fedora ils font tres bon pair avec miss Victoria Aeroport…

Hugh On The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Show, November 20

The movie looks great! The setting, the music, Hugh Jackman, the story seem to be terrific… What a shame that Nicole Kidman is no longer able to use her face though… Pitty… She IS beautiful… I don´t understand why she would do that to herself… Killing her acting skills just to look a little younger… knowing that nobody buys it… Pitty…

He’s to damn scruffy looking he looks like he belongs on skid row

news.com.au report that after the screening tests for Australia, the audience’s opinion about the performances is that they are terrific but it’s HUGH JACKMAN the one who steals the show! Plus, the site reports that the ending of the movie changed from sad to more uplifting because of the bad reviews about it. Baz Luhrmann changes ending of Australia
Makes it more uplifting
Hugh Jackman’s character died in original cut

BAZ Luhrmann has bowed to studio pressure and dropped the sad ending to his epic film Australia.

Luhrmann’s initial cut - which ran for more than three hours - ended with Hugh Jackman’s character, The Drover, dying in the final scenes.

After disastrous reviews from test screenings, Twentieth Century Fox executives decided the film’s final moments should be more uplifting.

One test-screening audience member described the film as “an action-filled tragedy” and urged Luhrmann to change the ending.

“If they can tastefully tie this movie up into a solid story, with a nice pace, Baz will have a winner here,” one reviewer wrote. “And there is no reason to kill off Wolvie (Jackman) in this one - come on.”

Those who have seen the film say the performances are terrific but it is Jackman who steals the show.

After intense discussions with studio executives, Luhrmann was persuaded last week to go for a more uplifting ending.

It has not been an easy shoot. The film crew has had to deal with the huge international interest generated by the big-name stars, unpredictable weather in Western Australia and horses being quarantined because of equine flu.

Australia had been due in cinemas early this month, but its release was pushed back to November 26 because of fears it would not be ready in time.

Luhrmann told The Sunday Telegraph he would not compromise the quality of the film.

“I wouldn’t say we are within schedule but it’s possibly within reach,” he said. ”

Personaly, I’d prefer Jackman’s character to die cause I like big, tragic endings when it comes to big, epic, love stories. But that’s just me. What do you thing?
