I don’t get why everybody loves Ashley. I like her but this weird. She’s a 23 year old actress and is still doing disney, her new movie is more childish than HSM, her style is sucking, she whines when she sings, it’s just weird.

The striking Hudgens, 19, already has two albums to her credit and will be seen next year in another music-based film, Bandslam.

“She’s grown up, as all of us have,” an obviously admiring Efron says.

“She continues to grow more talented with every instalment of High School Musical and she’s turning into a woman.”

He smiles and adds: “It’s been great to watch.”

While Hudgens recently bought a $2.75 million house (six bedrooms, six bathrooms, pool complete with barbecue island) in LA’s Studio City, the pair have no plans to move in together.

“I’m only 19,” she almost blushes during a separate interview.

Efron continues to live in an apartment in nearby Toluca Lake, but says he will move eventually.

“There’s a lot of people living in my building right now, so it would be nice to go some place where I could live in peace,” he says.
“It’s not going to be anything big.
“I’ve always believed in living below your means, but privacy is an important issue now.”

In the meantime, he has splashed out on a late-model Audi and upgraded the sound system.
“I think the Audi has been my biggest purchase,” he says.
“I was wasting so much time in the car sitting in traffic, so I thought I might as well do it in style.”

E FRON describes the three High School Musical movies as “such a wild experience that we’ve all been through hand-in-hand” and says he is sad that it is coming to an end for him with the third film.

“It felt like we were coming back for our senior year of high school not just as Wildcats, but as family, as friends, as performers,” he says.

“Right now I’m glad. I think it’s time for us to leave, but we’ve travelled the world together and done so much together.
“High School Musical has been a very safe environment for us.
“We’re with our friends and we’re working with Kenny (Ortega) and we have felt very sheltered in the sense that we were just having fun at work.
“It’s not even work, really.
“So, yeah, we felt like we really wanted to get this right. We really wanted to nail it. This was our big chance.
“We’ve always wanted High School Musical to be on the big screen, we’ve always performed like it was for the big screen and this seems like our biggest opportunity yet.

“But anyone who’s been through high school knows the last day can be really sad.
“Hopefully, for me it’s just the start of something new, to coin a phrase.
“There are a lot more opportunities out there, different roles that I’m looking to start to play.
“Honestly, I’m excited about the future. I’m looking forward and I feel prepared. I’m ready to move on. I’m ready to grow up.”
