As President-elect Barack Obama prepares for his new role of Commander-in-Chief, he, wife Michelle, and daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, chat with the weeklies on how they plan to handle the transition.
People reports that their new lives will be quite a change (new home, new friends, new dog), but Michelle shares with OK!: “We try to keep things really normal.”
Though they’ll be moving into the spotlight, Michelle tells Us Weekly she plans to have her girls stick to the same low-key routines–”homework, chores, dance and soccer”–they had before becoming the First Family.
As for Barack himself, Michelle knows he’ll stay committed to family as they move into their new life: “He’s an incredible husband and father. Not sure if the world knows yet, but they should!”

I can’t wait to have this first family in the White House. Obama is going to be an incredible President because he wants to bring people together to solve our problems. The negative posters should remember that he is going to be the President and show him the same respect they would want for their candidate if he had won. The awesome thing is that the Obamas are a real, genuine, loving family and they will be great role models for many people. As far as the tabloids go, they are part of the popular culture now as any President would be. Just like candidates now appear on late night talk shows, it is important to reach all the people not just the ones that read the Wall Street Journal. Even President Bush was impressed when he met Obama and said he is a great dad. I hope people will put aside their differences and pettiness and work together for the good of the country.
What a beautiful family!! They will bring lot of global good will to America and Americans. I was in India last week. and the newspapers there were full of Obama stories with full page color spreads of family photos. People are overjoyed.
I hope the tabloids WILL NOT DRAG this first family DOWN TO THE LEVEL OF HOLLYWOOD. They are not stars…they are not celebrities. They are the first family and should be treated with the disrespect and nosiness accorded Hollywood. Tabloids need to leave the first family alone. This is a dangerous precedent. Let’s return to the days of Barbara Bush and previous first families when privacy and deference were accorded the residents of the White House. Is nothing sacred in America anymore?

to the person who wrote that world leaders are not taking this man seriously must be living with his or her head in the sand. Never have so many world leaders expressed as much enthusiasm about a future american president. And the people feel the same way , in many countries around the world they did polls to see who the people there would vote for if the could vote in the US and the average was 70% for Obama. Please! Especially after Bush who was the most disliked and ridiculed President abroad ever.

He is/has and reached out to the american public, he is the new predident elect, he needs to start working on the many changes he has promised america. I just do not agree with your kind of agenda and way of thinking, (It can wait, we’ll deal with that next year). It is exactly why this country is in the condition it is. Did Michelle really chat with the tabs? She is a real woman, has real values and its natural for her to be a bit overwhelmed by their celebrity status. But I hope she will be more savvy when she actually becomes the first lady and keep these tabs away from her family. They don’t need to be in the media glare, although the gossip mags have made up their minds to cover them, I think. They are a good looking family, Barack is still young and sexy, Michelle is good looking and elegant, they have two very cute daughters and they are the first ever colored first family in a predominantly white nation anywhere in the world, so the curiosity about them is enormous, I understand. But Pres. Obama has much important things to do. Please live them be just a normal family.
