They changed too much… Fans aren’t going to like it.
I know I didn’t. I didn’t kike Quantum of Solace either. It just wasn’t Bond. It was a boring and predictable movie.
so. awesome.
and as for change, star trek has always been about evolution. i think science fiction fans would be thrilled at the special effects in regards to the technology. i mean, what were they going to do - use cameras from the 60’s?
Wow I can’t wait :) Anyone else looking @ Spock and thinking “Sylar?” LOL.
I’m a hardcore trekkie and I LOVE it!! Nothing wrong with updating the movie and including a cast of hotties :) It’s also good for the trek franchise to appeal to a wider audience- this movie can do that and let people know how good Star Trek really is!
As a star trek fan - I can understand the hard core trekkers feeling alittle betrayed, but them I say this.
VOYAGER< ENTERPRISE, and the last films have been lack luster and alittle dated.
THIS FILM WILL WITHOUT A DOUBT REINVIGORATE WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A DYING FRANCHISE. It’s like Batman, you spin the original character staying true to the ideas, but exploring other aspects of the characteristics that only one other actor has ever played. I get a sense of ‘joy’ from JJ Abrahms and think he’s exactly what this franchise needs!
I think there was an over saturation with television shows from this franchise. I think we should leave Star Trek as a film franchise for a while - let’s not venture too far from what made this last so long.
I’m a Trekker and sort of see this the same way I see the books - Treklite, non-canonical, harmless fun.
So, yeah, I’ll go. It looks like a decent popcorn movie.
Sucks!
Looks good so far Going to be interesting to see these characters in their early and late 20’s
looks cheesy.
I love star trek. I do think they should keep with the theme of the original. Spock however in the pilot had not developed into the emotionless one we saw in most of the episodes of the series. He was however, never a very violent guy. He did smile and laugh and show emotion tho. Only in the episode where pon far was on him was he violent.
It does look exciting. I can’t wait to see it, and I hope it lives up to my expectations. And Spock is HOT!
I can’t wait to watch the movie.
I come from a long line of Trekkies and I cannot WAIT to see this!!!!!!
Prequels? Why Prequels? We learned nothing from “Enterprise”?
OOOHHHH, I bet Spock dies in this scene, oh yeah, he can’t.
Has hollywood completely run out of ideas?
Give me the Enterprise J saving the Milky Way galaxy from the Andromedan Threat.
You know, going where no man has gone before, not where we have gone over and over and over.
Yeah, I’ll go see it, I am a sucker. I saw those crappy Star Wars prequels.
But think how cool a whole new adventure could be?
The trailer looks good. It does explain the origin of both Spock and Kirk’s personality. The trailer makes it appear that the movie focus on the relationship between Spock and Kirk.
It looks better than I expected.
I’m a HUGE star trek fan, love all the series, and all the movies, and I will be seeing this movie just because it is star trek…
BUT, with that said, while this did look like a non-stop thrill ride of awesomeness…I was also waiting to see Directed by George Lucas, Produced by George Lucas, and Written by George Lucas…
Can anyone say, Star Wars rip off!!!!
I sure hope they don’t make Star Trek like Star Wars now. Star Trek is so much better. They don’t rely on fancy special effects, and huge action scenes. It’s all about the story, which I’m sorry to say Star Wars has always lacked and this Trek movie seems to as well. :o(
First of all, if there are any hardcore fans out here among the masses, they would take small offense to your term of “Trekkie”. Most of us prefer “Trekker”.
Now, for the good stuff … the trailer looks awesome and can Anton Yelchin be any hotter?
Counting the days ….
This looks like a good movie, but it isn’t Star Trek.
Oh, it carries a “Star Trek” title, but it violates so much of the existing cannon that it will be almost the same as if it were titled “Star Wars”. Kirk meets Spock before he takes over NCC-1701 from Chris Pike? Next you’ll want us to believe that the Enterprise was refit down from this movie to match the Enterprise commanded by Kirk later in ST:TOS, let alone the one commanded by Chris Pike in “The Menagerie”.
From where I sit, this looks like nothing more than the “Star Fleet Academy” movie rejected a decade ago by Trekkers and Rick Berman. It may or may not do well at the box office, but it will NOT revive the franchise.
So, lemme get this straight . . rather than being constructed out in space in drydock, the Enterprise is now cobbled together in an Iowa cornfield and then somehow floated up into the stratosphere so it can take flight ?
Hey, nitwits, the ship was never made for atmospheric flight - hence its lack of aerodynamic design . . that’s why they had transporters and shuttlecraft . . the friggin ship doesn’t fly like an airplane. It’s made for deep space . .
This thing is gonna suck already . .
I’m a big Trek fan too. Ya. I’m very mixed. dßernardes’s comparison to Star Wars is my worst fear. Abrams himself said he was a bigger fan of Star Wars than Trek and that all his smart friends loved Trek while he, himself, was more visceral.
HOWEVER, I’m being optimistic since this trailer is trying to get everyone (not just trek fans) curious and excited about it. You can’t really show anything cerebral and still appeal to a broad group of people but I can tell from what they did show that they understand the characters. This trailer still felt like a teaser and that makes sense because Abrams HATES giving away anything about his movies.
May can’t come soon enough!
It was a Trailer! It is supposed to get your attention and get you excited. How can anyone say that the movie is great or it sucks based on a series of 3 second clips?
If you watched the original series, there was an eposide where the Enterprise was FLYING below earth’s stratosphere. They had to teleport an air force pilot on board cause he got too close to the ship with his fighter jet.
Disappointed that Shattner won’t be doing a cameo though. Looking forward to watching this movie, even though Slyar is Spock.
well we have seen all the best bits now dont need to watch movie lol
