Wanda Sykes: I’m Proud To Be Gay!

Wanda Sykes: I’m Proud To Be Gay!

The New Adventures of Old Christine star Wanda Sykes is speaking about about being gay because of the passage of a same-sex marriage ban in California. Here’s what the 44-year-old comedian told a crowd at a gay rights rally in Las Vegas on Saturday:

“[After Barack Obama was elected,] I thought, man we are moving in the right direction. And then at about 11 o’clock I was crushed. We took a huge leap forward and then got dragged 12 feet back. I felt like I was being attacked, personally attacked, our community was attacked. I got married Oct. 25, I don’t really talk about my sexual orientation, I felt like I was living my life, I wasn’t in the closet, but I was just living my life. Everybody who knows me personally, they know I’m gay. And that’s the way people should be able to live our lives, really. We shouldn’t have to be standing out here demanding something we automatically should have as citizens of this country. … They pissed off the wrong group of people. They have galvanized a community. We are so together now and we all want the same thing and we shouldn’t have to settle for less. Instead of having gay marriage in California, no, we’re gonna have gay marriage across the country. When my wife and I leave California, I want to have my marriage also recognized in Nevada, in Arizona, all the way to New York. … I’m proud to be a woman, I’m proud to be a black woman and I’m proud to be gay.

Oh boo hoo, get over it !

# 2

I kinda feel like she is milking and using the race, gender and gay card for her own gain!

# 3

Didn’t know she was gay, now I don’t like her half as much….takes away a lot of the sex appeal. I know a lot of guys that think she is quirky and sexy but not if she’s a ****.

# 4

Jared, ur readers are disgusting! LOL

# 5

good for her for speaking out.

Well said, Wanda!

# 7

I’m proud of you too Wanda. Equal rights for all, yeah.

Good for her, that’s a hard thing to do in a world still full of hate, and a helpful thing for others to see her out there.

Why do people keep acting like Obama’s election is supposed to make people more tolerant of gays. There’s absolutely no connection and no reason to think that. It was because of higher than usual turnouts in the black community that Obama won many states, and most blacks are homophobic and see gay marriage as a sin against god. That’s never going to change. Obama’s election had nothing to do about tolerance. And, the gays are acting like a bunch of babies. You lost get it over. This does not compare with blacks and the civil rights movement. If you think so, then show me where gays were being lynched, or forced to use separate water fountains than hetero’s, sit in the back of buses, and other indignities that blacks in this country were forced to suffer.

I don’t understand why this is even an issue? Why do people care so much what other people are doing?

If you want to get upset about something, how about Mormons who practice polygamy?

non-impressed @ 11/16/2008 at 11:33 am

amanda what you just said is a total hypocrite statement. you don’t care about what the gay people are doing but dear god you can judge the mormon polygamists. how does that make any sense.

“Why do people keep acting like Obama’s election is supposed to make people more tolerant of gays”…..

I think people were hoping that by electing a black man this country had moved forward to look past it prejudices. As Wanda said this smacked people back in place.

I love how people with all the rights and have not been oppressed in some why keep telling folks to “get over it”. Maybe you should get over it and let gay people get married.

sillyme, Wanda said that because i guess in your country having a black president was like some huge, something that country has never seen before…because of all the discrimination they received a long time ago. And wanda was like “oh, america accepted a black presiden, maybe now america will accept gay people”…. but that was not the case.
It’s weird actually why you can’t accept it after a lot of country did. Here in Argentina, gay people can get married,

If you are unfamiliar with lynchings and murders and so forth… you have deliberately hidden from the news and from the use of the internet you chose to use in order to make the Civil Rights movement the sole territory of the Blacks. If you studied enough you would find that Martin Luther King Jr had men who were gay working right with him at the top of HIS movement. Too bad there is no recognition of that by those same people who choose to make it a turf battle. … Perhaps you never heard of Matthew Shepard? Perhaps you have not heard of deaths in the military totally related to this issue? Perhaps you are unaware that just in the past week a man was arrested in California after murdering 2 gay men in Indianapolis? And, is it really too much of a jump for you that such crimes are not heard of because just as with Blacks many years ago…it is not even considered by many police, is not considered a ‘hate crime’ in most states of the Union, and isn’t it odd that Blacks weren’t permitted to marry at one time in this country (as a way of controlling them as well), and now the same is happening to Gays? — And sad that you say that Blacks would be responsible for that type of subjugation. —And, I guess you might think it is okay that sexual orientation can be used as a reason to fire/not hire because it is protected discrimination in most every state and there is no federal mandate that bans it? And, I personally know of people that have lost jobs only because they were gay. (And before you challenge that… know that I am one of them and almost a year later had a legal decision that said I deserved compensation due to an inappropriate termination without cause. — Since then, it has been legislated that it is okay to terminate if someone is gay (by virtue of outlawing it failing. That has been used in legal decisions to support that the legislature’s intent said it was okay. —That is one state too many.) — So perhaps, the prejudice needs some self-examination by your post and several others here.

errr…..don’t ppl know that obama does not support same sex marriage?? ppl have so many misconceptions. maybe if they actually followed or read things he wanted for this country instead of getting it second hand, we would have a different person leading this country.

I love her in New Christine, she’s so hilarious.

why do you want to get married
just put a ring on and pretend
i have no problem with gays at all but its not what god intended

Why not get the first pregnant man to show up at the rallies… Since
annoucing that they are having a second child..

I was married in a catholic church and I had to wait a year and take many many classes to get married and I believe that gay people should have the right to get married!! My religion has NO business being in the lives of others. I really do believe that this is a civil rights issue because people are basically telling other people they can’t do something because of who they are. That **** doesn’t make any sense!

you can not single out a group of individuals and tell them they have limited rights while another groups are free to do as they wish!

Decades ago people didn’t think Black people should get the same rights as White people. They were proven wrong.
Nowadays, people don’t think Gay and lesbians should be afforded the same rights as White, Black and every other race of people. I thing society will look back in a couple more years and feel the same thing - that they were wrong at the time.

I never knew she was gay. Then again, I’ve only seen her in Monster-in-Law, and she’s one of the only decent things about that film.

I see similar discrimination in the gay community as there was in the Black community, only it takes a different form.
Gay people still get bashed up or even murdered for being who they are, they still get derogatory names put on their heads, they aren’t allowed to marry, aren’t allowed to adopt kids, etc.

No to gay marriage @ 11/16/2008 at 12:57 pm

Just because our liberal society is embracing gays all of a sudden doesn’t make it right. It’s always been wrong and that will never change. Stop trying to force our government and Christians to endorse your gay relationships by formalizing them with a marriage certificate. Keep your gay relationships behind closed doors. The next thing you know, pedophiles will be demanding equal rights.

^^ It absolutely astounds me that you could equate gay people with pedophiles. Just shows your complete ignorance and bigotry

No to gay marriage @ 11/16/2008 at 1:13 pm

To “alania”, LOL, first of all, I didn’t equate gay people to pedophiles. I’m just sick of gays wanting society to turn the other way when what they are doing is wrong. They can be gay if they want to, but it reaches a whole new level when they want marriage certificates. It’s just wrong. We can all speak our minds.

BECKY SMITH @ 11/16/2008 at 1:18 pm

We had this already Rosie O Donnell was the first to marry her girlfriend the first time around.. a long time ago.. and now that it
came back..why bother bringing it back.. do us all a favor and
just put an end to this… It is no ones business what they do and
not do.. Is it going to make a third round.. again.. yes will will give
you what you want.. but we will later pull the rug from under you..

Good for you, Wanda! The passage of Prop 8 (and several other anti-gay laws in other states) showed that, despite how far we’ve come, we still have a ways to go.

To “No to gay marriage”, well you pretty much thought equal rights for gay people was as outlandish as equal rights for pedophiles, which is ridiculous so yeah you kind of did equate the two.
Oh, and I never said you couldn’t speak your mind, but would it kill you to open your mind up a bit more?

Uh, #27, have you ever heard of a little thing in the United States constitution that mandates THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE? You don’t have to accept gay relationships or endorse them, but that doesn’t make it right to LEGALLY DISCRIMINATE against gay relationships!

Duh……like we didn’t know she was gay for ages. What is it? A new movie coming out and she needs PR.

It’s not the same thing. Racial discrimination is based on what you are. Sexual discrimination is based on what you do. Blacks don’t have the luxury of choosing when to “come out.” Be happy with your civil partnerships and move on.

jet' aime a:) @ 11/16/2008 at 2:02 pm

EW GAY

The Banning of Gay Marriage was a bill issue, not a civil rights issue. Gay people already have many rights that protect them. The definition of marriage has always been between a man and a woman. If gays want the same rights as marriage then they already have civil unions. Why must a straight couples title matter to them anyway. Marriage is something that inherently belongs to straight couples. Gay peoples lifestyle has been tolerated by many states. If they want to imitate straight couples, then at least be unique and create something of your own. Marriage has been patented by straight couples a long time ago. I would suggest that the gay fanatics here to go spend their time creating something of their own and instead of point fingers and blaming others. Useless Mass protests, bullying and coercion isnt going to change the publics opionion on marriage. Its the people will and not of celebrities. We give too much credit to celebrities. The people rule at the end of the day. What gives gay people the right to redifine marraige anyway. Gay people have intellectual right to this and Californians have agreed. Gay people have everything in L.A, looks, money, style, but they want more, why cant you guys be big people and leave straight what has been historically theirs.

You tell them Wnda. I don’t understand why it is anyone’s business whether gay people want to marry or not. It really shouldn’t be up to some stupid law. Gay marriage shouldn’t be illegal anywhere in this earth. & neither should cocaine:)

How about a one way ticket Massachusetts. Bye bye!!!

GOOD VICTORIA @ 11/16/2008 at 3:24 pm

WELL STATED ..” TONY “….. AND ,,,” ALANIA “….everyone has the right to be happy…Gay OR not….Just ” putting on a ring “, and ” what does it matter “, does NOT solve the problem…and it should matter to all of us, and most importantly the Gay community….I have been happily married to the same man for 35 years, and I’m a practicing Roman Catholic….NO, I do NOT believe in EVERYTHING, that my church preaches or old and outdated Vatican rules, BUT I still love the church and all who attend there….including some Gays who are our dearest friends……
I have met Baptists and Presbyterian’s who did NOT agree with all the rules or preachings of their church also, but all in all, that is still their church……..God LOVES us ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol at some of the fools on this site

I think whoever said ALL blacks hate gays should speak for themselves and not every black person. I am black and straight and I dont hate gay people or feel they should not have the same rights as everyone. Its funny coz I bet most of the hypocrites denying gay people equal rights to get married dont even believe in the sanctimony of marriage. Heck take a look at the divorce rate. It boggles my mind how some must feel they are above others because denying someone equal rights is basically saying I am better than you. You might not personally agree with gay relationships but if it does not affect you then what does it matter if they get married. I dont believe in polygamy but if someone wants to marry multiple partners then as long as the person is of age and wants the same things as the other person then its not my problem. I dont think the racial discrimination suffered by blacks is the same as the prop 8 issue but I do think prop 8 is discrimnation and ANY kind of discrimination is wrong and you would think in 2008 we are a more tolerant and accepting society. I wish all gay and lesbian couples luck and hope they win this fight in getting equal rights on the marriage issue.

***********************************************************************************************

Excellent post. I’m Catholic also and I totally agree.

Will somebody please explain to me how letting gay people get married is going to destroy the “sanctity of marriage”? And please don’t trot out that tired gays-can’t-have-children argument. If children are the basis for sanctifying marriage, then every childless man/woman marriage is invalid.

“errr…..don’t ppl know that obama does not support same sex marriage?? ppl have so many misconceptions. maybe if they actually followed or read things he wanted for this country instead of getting it second hand, we would have a different person leading this country.”

Perhaps you should read/listen to what he actually said. He doesn’t personally support it but gays, lesbians, transgendered, et al SHOULD have equal rights [which would include the right to marry, work, etc.]

Gay people can already marry in california. Get over it! prop 8 passed boo hoo! no republicans here are complaining about mccain losing

If marriage is only something that can be accepted if the church [whichever church that is] accepts it, then those who are not marrying in a church should not be allowed to have a marriage license, but a civil union and the rights [not the same provided with a marriage license] that come with it.

Also, pedophiles do have the right to marry or do you people who equate homosexuality with pedophilia ignore that.

why is everyone gay these days? honestly, it’s like a trend or something.
weirdddd.

WE VOTED AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE. GET OVER IT. JUST BECAUSE IT DID NOT TURN OUT IN YOUR FAVOR YOU THINK WE SHOULD OVERTURN IT?! I VOTED AGAINST OBAMA AND HE WON. THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED VOTING YOU IDIOTS! MOVE ON!!!!!! THESE HETROSEXUAL CELEBRITIES THAT ARE OUT THERE PROTESTING DO NOT GIVE A RATS ASS. THEY JUST WANT THE PRESS. THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN SO SHUT UP AND MOVE ON.

TWPUMPKIN @ 11/16/2008 at 5:42 pm

I FEEL THAT GAY COUPLES SHOULD HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS A MARRIED HETROSEXUAL COUPLE BUT CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE. LEAVE “MARRIAGE ALONE” IT IS ONE OF THE FEW THINGS WE BORING FOLKS HAVE LEFT. WHATS NEXT….MARRY YOUR SISTER….MARRY YOUR DOG. COME ON PEOPLE! HOW FUNNY GAY PEOPLE FEEL CHEATED BUT THEN THEY TURN AROUND AND SUPPORT ABORTION. MAYBE THE FETUS FEELS CHEATED TO.

she is so funny, I had no idea she is gay….

GOOD FOR WANDA!! One thing though. Just because we now have a Black President — ABOUT BLOOY TIME — doesn’t mean that all the hateful people out there have gone into caves. Hateful people will ALWAYS be out there. Just like some of the hateful people who come on Jared. “Live and Let Live” — people should remember that and we’d have a better earth for it.

gays rights is so bloody unnecessary.it’s pretty useless.not like ur dying of starvation or whatever.those who want gay rights remind me of the hebrews who Moses rescued and brought to the promised land, and yet they were still unsatisfied and asking God for more.argh.People will never shut up .i also pity Obama for having this ‘black’ thing dragged with him everywhere.Like how Beyonce now wants a Black wonderwoman.People are spitting rubbish out of their mouths in the name of Obama winning.I am not racist at all but shut up man.I don’t see Morgan Freeman saying **** like that!

will someone please shove these individuals into one enormous closet and lock the door! shut your traps, the people have spoken! geez, move on!

uh, #33, have you ever actually READ the United States Constitution? There is no such language as “separation of church and state”. Another lie shoved down the throats of the ignorant.

not being able to marry can be a blessing. think about it. don’t make rich lawyers even richer.

thank GOD @ 11/16/2008 at 8:47 pm

obama is not the answer to gay sexual preference! stop being demanding..you are lucky that you get the respect of being another human being….we just don’t care how you like your ‘egg’ done…so stop pushing it!!

Christians are such hypocrites.

sillyme @ 11/16/2008 at 11:23 am

Why do people keep acting like Obama’s election is supposed to make people more tolerant of gays. There’s absolutely no connection and no reason to think that. It was because of higher than usual turnouts in the black community that Obama won many states, and most blacks are homophobic and see gay marriage as a sin against god.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Obama won because 67% young people voted for him, 95% blacks *which is still a small number of the populace, people in indiana, pennsylvania, etc. Actually white votes really secured Obama’s win - with just the black vote, he would not have won. He won in states that no Democrat won in for like 40 years. Why do people keep diminishing his win? Wake-up call: your white neighbors voted for Obama in high numbers _ THAT is why he won. Besides, being the right candidate for the right time. And black people are not any more homophobic then people in Tennessee or the most white people in America. The majority of people in America and in the world are homophobic. This is not a black phenomenon. 78% of Jews votes yes on 8. No one talks about that. If you opened up Prop 8 to the rest of the country, that 70% would be much higher. That is why Prop 8 should be a federal issue that has nothing to do with majority rule because if we wait for majority rule, gay marriage will never be passed in America. Americans simply are overwhelmingly against it. That is the reality. And if you are wasting your time attacking black people for their stance on gay marriage, you are blindly mistaken - most whites are against it. I am for it and I come from a very liberal family and even they are not fully on board. Make it federal then it can be passed.

Lev 18:22-23 “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.” Lev 20:13 “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.” 1 Cor 6:9 “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals” 1 Tim 1:9-10 “realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers” Rom 1:26-27 “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.”

is she proud of being ugly too ?

Pretty soon people in incestuous relationships will want to get married, and have it legalized across the nation. After all, what they’re saying is we all should have the right to marry whomever we want, right? No matter what?

Where does it end?

The people of California have spoken! LET IT GO!!!!

no gays pls.
i’m not teaching my kids it’s okay to have mommy & mommy or daddy & daddy.

why don’t animals do same sex?
why does nature not correlate?

why would you want to support something that is clearly not natural.
i’m not homophobic, many of my friends are gay and i love them and respect the as people! they know how i feel and they also respect me.

homosexuality is wrong.

Good for Wanda for speaking out. How can anyone say homosexuality is wrong? On what evidence do they base that? Is blonde hair wrong? Are freckles wrong? Are short people better than tall people? That is just as ridiculous a statement. I hope for a day very soon when people will be respected for who they are and given the rights that they deserve. Our constitution says ALL people are created equal, not just those that are like me or do what I want them to do. Gay marriage will not hurt marriage, it will only create more families. In a world where the divorce rate is 50% for hetersexual couples what right do we have to judge? Don’t all children deserve parents who will love them? No one is asking churches to accept gay marriage- it is a civil marriage that will give them the same rights as everyone else. As a straight person married for 25 to the man I love, I wish everyone the same happiness. Obama’s election meant that people judged him for who he is not the color of his skin, now it is time to judge people by who they are, not who they love.

something to say @ 11/17/2008 at 1:02 am

I believe that allowing gays to marry is wrong. I believe that we are so far away spiritually in this nation that we do not see that legally allowing men to marry other men etc. will open up a pandora’s box that will usher in a social, economic and political power struggle that will ruin the moral foundation of this country. This nation was built on the premise that “In God we trust.” So I ask why do gays want to enter into a “holy matrimony” when their union is out of order from God’s original and only purpose in uniting one man to one woman… Also race is completely separate from sexual orientation. How you choose to participate in your bedroom sexually should not be placed in the same category as the social injustice faced by African Americans. Please show me where gays based on their sexuality only were taken from their country, forced on slave ships , thrown overboard, lost their identity , name and culture, bound in servitude, beaten with whips, separated from their families, rapped, and killed over a concentrated period of hundreds of years and tell me that the history of struggle and oppression are the same as gay right to marry? Are you kidding me.

cheninator @ 11/17/2008 at 1:21 am

@ ick. how the hell can you say your not homophobic, then say homosexuality is wrong?

seriously god sake people, the only way kids wont grow up like homophobic jacka$$es is to tell them about gay people. just cause the f*cking bible, some stupid book written “thousands” of years ago, doesnt mean it is wrong.

It is as simple as this.. those who proclaim to be Gay, have always had the right to marry. Where the issue comes in, is that they wish to re-define what marriage is. Going away from the History of Marriage, being between a Man and a Woman.

They also bring into this fight, the Civil Rights Movement, as if it applies to this issue.. It does not. As that was about a RACE not a LIFESTYLE CHOICE… end of story.

p.s. before anyone decides to bring in the “I was Born this Way”.. sorry, but there has been no Factual Study, that finds the “Gay Gene”. While there have been studies that “proclaim” a finding, on both sides of this issue. If one looks behind who was funding that study, one finds that they “get” what they paid for.

“seriously god sake people, the only way kids wont grow up like homophobic jacka$$es is to tell them about gay people. just cause the f*cking bible, some stupid book written “thousands” of years ago, doesnt mean it is wrong.”

No, the way our Children will grow up not hating gays is two-fold.. 1) As parents we need to teach them Love and Respect of All Persons.. aka.. Love the Sinner and Hate the Sin. 2) Those who are Gay (or whatever), need to stop trying to have special rights over others. 38 States have Laws on their Books, that state a crime against a Gay Person, is a GREATER Crime then against any other person. aka.. All Animals are Equal, Some are More Equal.

#68 .hey *******!scold the people if you have to..how dare u speak of a religion or a bible like that.Hate christians if u have to,dont hate christ.you know nuts abt him.cheebai.

Woah didn’t see that coming!!!!

Not surprised that she’s gay, but it’s a shame cuz she’s got some big-ass titties. But she can also go **** herself; she’s playing the race, gender, and sexuality card all at the same time.

The people of California spoke and it’s in the state constitution now — you know, the document that DEFINES your rights. According to it, you don’t have a right to marry another woman anymore. Funny how liberals claim conservatives are trampling the constitution (without actually citing WHERE they’re violating the constitution), yet when there’s something in there they don’t like they ***** endlessly about it despite what the will of the people is.

Homosexuality is wrong! Just say “NO” to gay marriage!

Wait a second… what about Crazy-Eyes Killah!?!

NotBlonde @ 11/17/2008 at 8:10 pm

All of you saying negative things about gay people need to just stop. I realize that this is a public board and you can say whatever hateful stuff you want, but I can also call you on it and respectfully request that you cut it out.

Gay people are not asking for special rights, they are asking for the same ones heterosexual people have.

Gay people do not want to be in “holy matrimony” because they know that Christians think they are living in sin.

“Marriage” has never been legally defined as between a “man” and a “woman”. Prop 8 was proposed so that we could CHANGE the California Constitution to say that marriage is between a man and a woman, i.e. the language wasn’t there before and now it is. I know, I voted No on Prop 8. I read it on my ballot.

For “ick”: there are numerous examples of same sex relationships in nature, most obviously the gay penguins at the New York Zoo awhile ago.

Prop 8 wasn’t supposed to be on the ballot anyway. It literally took away the rights that were granted gay people last year.

Majority rule is not always right. If the majority ruled, black people would probably still be dealing with “separate but equal” schooling. That was destroyed by a court order, not by popular vote.

Gay people have all kinds of violence perpetrated against them; quite often by people who claim to be Christian.

Your religion, whatever it is, does not belong in politics, period. If you feel the need to live your life by and for your religion, do whatever you want. But don’t VOTE based on it. Voting is supposed to come from the most secular part of your brain. If you still disagree with homosexuality even if you take religion out of it, then whatever.

Bottom line: keep your religious beliefs out of the political process and out of the progress of this great country.

NotBlonde @ 11/17/2008 at 8:11 pm

By the way, whoever didn’t know Wanda Sykes was gay has the worst Gaydar ever.

oh Please! @ 11/17/2008 at 10:05 pm

I am so sick and tired of homosexuals trying to link their sexual choices to Civil Rights. Your sexual preference is in no way equal to the fight that oppressed people have had to and are still waging across this globe.

Have sex with who you want but don’t look to heterosexuals to condone your sin. Even though you don’t agree with the Bible-only the parts that suit you, read all of it and accept all of it or, don’t accept any of it as instructed by God.

I personally don’t have a problem with who anyone sleeps with, but, I don’t want to have to witness two same sex people kissing, holding hands or showing any type of intimate affection in public, and I don’t think any young impressionable child should have to witness such sin.

I like Wanda Sykes’ comedy and I suspected she was gay. That’s her business, but don’t expect those of us who believe in God and have accepted his teachings and instructions to accept what God calls sinful behaviour.

Refer to the Bible: Romans 1: 20-32 . Sexual relationships between people of the same sex is a sin in the eyes of God.

oh Please! @ 11/17/2008 at 10:38 pm

Those who thought that America was ready to vote for a non-white President forgot that people who abhor racism are usually those who believe in God and Christ and follow the Bible truly.

We believe that all mankind and this whole world-heaven and earth was created by him. We believe and accept what God and
Christ and the Prophets-sent by God, say throughout the Bible. We, those of us who wholeheartedly accept the scripture as the word of God believe what the scriptures say, that you’re either with God or against God and that those who choose sin over righteousness will stand in judgement.

Those of us who accept the teaching of God understand that God is all-knowing and would never dare taunt God and mock his teachings. God always has the final say and determines all the outcomes, whether we believe and have accepted him or not.

The people of California have spoken. Accept it. Sexual orientation is not equatable with skin color, eye color, height- things no human being has control of when they’re created. Whether you’re molested, emotionally traumatized by some childhood sexual curiosity; or seduced into homosexuality as an adult in some way, you choose to continue with this behavior. With the help of God and Christ, any sinful behavior will be overcome, but you have to want to stop committing that sin.

For help, read the scriptures. Since Abraham believed, man has been turning to the one true God for assistance with everything. He’s waiting for anyone who is willing to call on his name, confess your sins, ask for forgiveness, believe that your sins are forgiven and go and sin no more( don’t committ that sin anymore). You will fail, but, continue trying, with daily prayer to God in Jesus’ name and any sinful behaviour will be overcome. Above all read your Bible daily to understand who we are and why we were created-to serve God in righteousness.

Satan that spiritual force of wickedness does everything possible to turn us away from God. He will bring sin into our lives-molesters, abusers, rapists, wicked parents; thus causing us to turn to sin ourselves. We then become so ashamed that we find it easier to continue sinning than to turn away from the sinful behaviour.

God is always waiting for us. He clearly states that he wants all his creation to be saved. However, there will come a time, according to the Bible that we will no longer receive the call to change our sinful behavior and time will run out on each of us.

Hopefully this message helps someone to understand that God loves you and is waiting for you to turn away from sin and come to him to receive salvation and forgiveness of sins throught Jesus Chist his only begotton Son.

“All of you saying negative things about gay people need to just stop. I realize that this is a public board and you can say whatever hateful stuff you want, but I can also call you on it and respectfully request that you cut it out.”

On this you and I agree.. improper speech should be stopped on both sides, even the side the posted a F**K Mormons sigb on the side of their house in Cali..

——

“Gay people are not asking for special rights, they are asking for the same ones heterosexual people have.”

Yes they are, as they already have the right to marry the other sex. What they wish to do, is re-define what Marriage means. That is a “special” right, in any one’s book.

——

“Gay people do not want to be in “holy matrimony” because they know that Christians think they are living in sin.”

The why do they wish to het Married? As that is what Marriage is..

——

““Marriage” has never been legally defined as between a “man” and a “woman”. Prop 8 was proposed so that we could CHANGE the California Constitution to say that marriage is between a man and a woman, i.e. the language wasn’t there before and now it is. I know, I voted No on Prop 8. I read it on my ballot.”

Wrong, in many states and most counties, Marriage is just that.. between a Man and a Woman.

——

For “ick”: there are numerous examples of same sex relationships in nature, most obviously the gay penguins at the New York Zoo awhile ago.

——

“Prop 8 wasn’t supposed to be on the ballot anyway. It literally took away the rights that were granted gay people last year.”

Again, you are wrong.. Gays have the same Right as I do, to marry a member of the other sex..

——

“Majority rule is not always right. If the majority ruled, black people would probably still be dealing with “separate but equal” schooling. That was destroyed by a court order, not by popular vote.”

This two issues are not even close.. as one is based on a Race and the other a Lifestyle Choice.

——

“Gay people have all kinds of violence perpetrated against them; quite often by people who claim to be Christian.”

As do every other group.. why do they get to have “special” rights, that I do not have.. isn’t this about being Equal?

——

“Your religion, whatever it is, does not belong in politics, period.

Sorry, but no matter your views, There is NO section of the Constitution or Bill of Rights, that state Faith MUST be removed from Politics. And many if not ALL of our Founding Fathers, spoke to being moral and having Faith in a Higher Being.

______

“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”

“Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God. ”

“Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. ”

All George Washington.. Father of out Nation..

I’m thinking that gays might have a better chance of getting laws on the books and equal rights for “civil unions” than they have of redefining marriage. Why are they fighting so hard for marriage? If it’s about equal rights, why do they really care how they legal obtain those equal rights. Blacks asked for equal rights…they never asked to be white.

It really bothers me to read all the hate, but I do understand that freedom of speech is our right. However, it pains me to hear people talk about how gay people have the choice to be that way. I worked in genetics for many years and there’s a homosexual gene. What person chooses to be discriminated against? What person chooses to be fired and not hired? What person wants to have their right to adopt taken away? Who chooses to loose there family members especially the ones that raised and loved them?

People, straight parents created you and me..not gay ones!! So the idea that somehow it is a choice is just absurd. It saddens me to watch the suicide for gays continously go up, because of the fear to be free. I’m an African-American female and the rise of HIV amongst straight AA females are unreal. Why? Because AA men are on the DL!! I would rather people be honest and love one another.

Also, to use Leviticus as a way to display your hate is just hypocritical. You need to research more and learn that it was written for a specific group because they were having sex in the pagan temples. Beards and eating shellfish are also in that passage, but I bet the seafood houses around this country stay packed!! In the new testament love between mankind was encouraged, not hating!!

Take Care and Much Love to You All

“I worked in genetics for many years and there’s a homosexual gene”

Sorry.. But so does my wife and I have read ALL the reports on this issue. Pro and Con. And no where has there been any proof of your claim. Claims, yes.. 100% Proof.. No,

James..sure you have read every report. I respect your opinion and hope that you will do some more research on this issue. I just wish people will realize that gay, straight, bi, trans, we’re all human. Who would you rather be associated with? A creepy pedophile or a loving GLBT?

Sillyme, you are either woefully uninformed, misinformed, or just
choose to be ignorant–please read what Tony wrote previously….gay
rights most certainly are a Civil Rights issue and if you don’t think
gay people or people who are just PERCEIVED as gay are taking beatings, I’d like to know where you live–there have been at least 3
incidents in the last year near my community in Rochester, NY–2
men were beaten severly, one so badly he has to learn to walk again
a year later…one incident was a group of men & women attacked and
when the police arrived, they arrested the victims instead of the attackers…you probably have no idea what that feels like because you
can walk down the street holding your date’s hand without being
harassed, say nothing of marrying whomever you choose. Oh, and if
you watched the election coverage at all, the stats were made quite
clear–Obama won because 61 percent of the voters who voted for
him were white–there was a large turnout for all groups including the
black vote but they accounted for less than 25 percent of his total vote…very hard for gay people to understand why then an estimated 70-80 percent of black voters in CA voted for Prop 8–they should understand being denied their constitutional civil rights better than anyone.

This is for Oh Please! Think about your comment about sexual orientation being a choice, unlike the color of one’s eye, skin or hair–really? If someone (even God) told you that you must change your
sexual orientation could you? Of course not, so why do you think
anyone else can? Get a clue please.

If you are so proud of being gay, Wanda, and you have this “community”; why do you care what heteros think and want to get into their churches and their institutions and change it to YOUR way. Is it perhaps that you are a wee bit guilty and know what you are doing is wrong? Yes, I think so. I think you need affirmation from heteros that you are OK. If you are really proud of who you are, you don’t need affirmation from anyone.
