Gwyneth Paltrow to PETA: Sorry!

Gwyneth Paltrow to PETA: Sorry!

Gwyneth Paltrow has issued a public apology to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for wearing fur in her Tod’s campaign photos.

In August, PETA released a statement that said, “Gwyneth Paltrow won’t be the apple of her daughter’s eye if she continues to flaunt fur.”

The 36-year-old actress just apologized to PETA, saying, “That was awkward, and I’m glad you asked, because I do not wear fur at all. It was a day-long photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses behind and draped a stole around my shoulder. I didn’t pay much attention to it and when I noticed it was fur, I assumed it was fake fur, but did not ask, so it’s my fault. I was very surprised when they ended up using that one shot out of hundreds for the centerpiece of the Tod’s ads. I know it’s not a great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand.”

pita people are morons

# 47 - That would depend on how much money they were paying her. Paltrow wanted the lucrative Tod’s contract and was willing to compromise her beliefs for the right amount of money.

I don’t know why people are surprised. You’re dealing with a ‘pretty much’ vegetarian who treats Turkey like a vegetable. :-)

Her statement sounds so far-fetched!

I think it has become rediculous how actors need to apologizing for wearing something.

She can wear whatever she wants- it’s a free country. She didn’t kill any animal, and animals kill each other all the time.

They should be apologizing for going after people like that.

Once it was about raising awareness and fighting the hunters and the means they employ to get the anumals, but now it has become crazy.

PETA is for the ETHICAL treatment of animals. Once an animal such as a cow has been killed for its food, its byproducts are used to make shoes, clothing, couches, etc. PETA does get a bit militant but the premise is that it’s wrong to beat the crap out of an animal or to electrocute it simply for the sake of fashion. Killing animals simply because we like how cute their fur looks on us is not the same as raising animals to actually feed people (I actually don’t eat meat, but that is beside the point). One cannot compare eating meat, which provides protein and necessary nutrients, to simply wanting to look fashionable.

Having said that, the real anger should be directed at the designers who use fur. If they quit using real fur in the clothing lines, then breeders would possible quit killing cute, furry animals.

PETA needs to shut up. In fact everyone that feels the need to ***** because someone else is against what they are needs to shut up. Someone wears fur. Fine who cares. Someone eats meat who cares. You don’t like it then don’t do it. Sheesh you people act like children.

I’m going to eat meat, and if I felt like it I’d wear a fur coat. It’s my business not yours. Grow up people.

Her excuse was as illiterate as her fur wearing was cruel. You blew it GP. You stink.

Gwyneth is an unbelievable liar. Gwyneth loves fur and has made public statements in the past whining about animal rights activists and their antifur campaigns. She said she loves the feeling of fur around her face and bashed the US in particular for their anti fur nazism-praising Europe and their love of slaughtering animals for the sole purpose of outfitting the filthy rich with fur coats. Of course, because it’s Gwyneth and she’s a notoriously two faced phoney, she made these statements in a Euro magazine, not an American one.

That she is now pretending to hate fur is really the height celeb style BS. God, I truly loathe this woman.

Peta has nothing to apologize for. They criticized Gwyneth. They didn’t use militant tactics. They didn’t threaten her. They didn’t flour her. They didn’t show up with signs at her movie premieres like they did at the Olsen twins’ book signings. They simply pointed out the hypocrisy between her eco-friendly, cruelty free image and wearing fur in ads.

Most people are hypocrites when it comes to wearing animal products. The big difference with Gwyneth is she makes an enormous profit from doing so while promoting an animal-friendly image.

PETA is utterly rediculous and stupid i mean all those hollywood witless ones who are pushing for PETA only prove they only do it for the publicity rather then for common sense which is compeletly lacking in hollyweird
