Rihanna: My New Wrist Tattoo is Tribal!
Rihanna shows off the new tattoo on her right wrist at a party sponsored by Gucci called the Tattoo Heart Collection to Benefit UNICEF at NYC’s Plaza Hotel on Wednesday. (Boyfriend Chris Brown has a matching one, as well as matching clusters of stars on their necks.)
The 20-year-old Bajan beauty said she got the Maori-inspired geometric design in New Zealand and explained, “It’s tribal. It represents strength and love. It’s their traditional way of tattooing. I always wanted [one]… [But] it hurt like hell!”

Bro she’s got a mean tat ow, she’s a cultural girl. You know Maori tattoos (ta moko) are very strong and powerful artwork, everyone has their own meaning on what they want done therefore the tattooist will design a pattern right on the spot.
Lol but the patterns look more coconut than maori. Arohamai but its true. Eah sweet looks mean anyway, did she really get it done by the chissel far that would of hurt.
(Yo one thing if you want tribal tattoos, you might as well look up your own indiginous culture there’s probably artwork from your ancestors of whatever ethnic you are. Once that ya know that then rep it hard, us polynesians have been doing it for years)

I am Maori and I love this tat. I never would have thought of putting a Maori tat on the wrist but this is awesome and a very beautiful one at that and as for you stupid ass Maori’s who keep saying that other people shouldn’t wear our tattooing I mean come on you idiots it is no big deal and it is not Tapu (too sacred) for someone to have a Maori tat apart from a Moko so get over it! And for all of you saying that it is ugly, that is because you do not appreciate true and native art that symbolizes something more and deeper that has been created through out hundreds of years. Obviously she likes it because she understands tribal art and it’s importance, being native and islander herself. Very beautiful RiRi I love it!
Wow, don’t you just love when the haters come out? Rihanna is beautiful, talented and dresses fantasticly!! She’s her own unique person and I give her so much credit for taking the fashion risks that she does and PULLING THEM OFF. The tattoos are all beautiful-and unlike other people, her’s have MEANING behind them.
