OlderPeople Magazine: NY Times is Bogus
Larry Hackett, managing editor for People magazine, just sent this email to staffers to address the recent NYTimes piece titled “Angelina Jolie’s Carefully Orchestrated Image”:
“I don’t normally address press stories about how we do our business here at People. But today’s New York Times pg. 1 story about Angelina Jolie requires a response. In the lede, the story strongly suggests that People, while negotiating for the twins pictures, had explicit conversations about our “editorial plan” and made ‘a promise’ that coverage would be positive.
“These sorts of stories have appeared in media gossip columns before. I have ignored them in the past as the unfortunate fallout of competition and sour grapes. But today’s story, in a much different venue, takes these rumors to a new level, so let me be absolutely clear: The suggestion that we have ever made any promise of positive coverage, or have submitted an editorial plan, is completely false. That I or anyone else would promise, on paper or verbally, to purposely slant coverage as condition for acquiring pictures, is insulting to all of us.
“Here’s what is true: Celebrities-and senators and business executives and athletes-are always trying to bend stories their way. We deal with that pressure every single day and engage in many conversations regarding all elements of coverage. Angelina Jolie is very candid about wanting attention for her charitable efforts, and we have covered many of them because we believe they are interesting stories. But in doing so, we have never relinquished editorial control. There have been occasions when her goals and our needs could not be reconciled, and we have walked away, as we have with countless other story subjects.
“In our coverage of both celebrities and everyday people, People certainly often celebrates their accomplishments and milestones. To say that our coverage of Angelina Jolie has not been admiring would be disingenuous. But the suggestion in today’s Times that this ‘positive’ coverage is codified and promised is totally bogus, and needs to be rejected.”

ROTFLMAO. Egads. This is almost as bad an idea as X playing Catwoman (many thanks to the Fanistons on IMDB for that hilarious notion) as directed by Tim Burton. Talk about a mismatch. Keanu can barely recite his lines let alone recite his lines and EMOTE at the same time.
Also, Empire is wrong - Fincher’s got a full slate of upcoming projects, including 2 for Brad’s Plan B that are currently being written.

LOL. Poor Nic…this movie probably won’t do that well in the States. Plus, whatever Oscar hopes she had for this have been dashed. There’s been zero buzz about her performance. Everybody’s talking about my second-favorite-after-Brad object of lust, Hugh Jackman. Nic’s performance hasn’t had the greatest of reviews. She REALLY needs to get the botox out of her face and the corn cob out of her ass.

Please just because you had learned some tricks in business school that enable you to put together an analysis of the economy, financial market, etc, doesn’t make you smarter than George Bush or any one.
I asked you once before in a political thread and I’m asking you again: Are you going to start a campaign, with this energy you spent on bashing Bush, against your government (Chinese) and Chinese businesses on selling food and food additives laced with hazardous chemical such as melamine all over the world?
The recovery of economy won’t do us any good if we are poisoned slowly to death by these unscrupulous Chinese business people. Please do something about it now as you are right there, so close you can make huge impact.

Every since day one they said Angie was after him,and I kinda start following after just glazing at a tab in the supermarket one day. I already liked her so I just started to follow it. They said all sorts of things about her not one about Brad. I really do believe her Vogue interview when she said when they met I was a total friendship and they just gradually grew on each other. She fell in love w/ him and he did her. It was totally innocent. That’s why she gets offended by that fact when she is questioned about it. Now we all know that Brad chased her. Look at the the interviews from the set,even Linman said Angie was the quiet and conservative one and he was playful. One thing that I do know is that she didn’t get along w/Linman for what reasons I don’t know.
He was way more into Brad and favoring him from my observance.He t-totally messed up the unrated and theater version by cutting off some of the kissing scenes and cutting up that love scene. What does it matter now for whatever reason they were trying to down play the chemistry and passion by cutting up that movie.
It seems as if they didn’t want him to get invoved with her at all. Even on the red carpet that producer was trying to get him not to stand next to her, he pushed him back and Brad said something to him and he pulled his head around.I found that funny.
He even said himself that everyone tod him she was a bad decision. Now look at his life. The person that people push you from is the one you want to be with most. It enevitable.
For that reason he is totally protective of her and their family. I mean he is on it. I get mad at him for not saying anything but I guess it’s for the best. His interview last week will probably change some people’s opinion on him.

Everybody’s talking about my second-favorite-after-Brad object of lust, Hugh Jackman. I am so glad that he was chosen SMA since Brad couldn’t make it three (or could he?). I am so looking forward to watching “Australia” because of the excitement about him, but PT, you are right, there is absolutely no buzz about Nicole. What a shame, she was such a beautiful woman and a gifted actress, but now can’t even get a box office hit or an acting buzz.

It’s not a rumor, it’s a BI from Crazydaysandnights.net. (CDAN). Most people ARE NOT guessing Angie. Right now the winner is Katie Holmes with a ton hoping it’s Nicole Kidman. The only problem is that Katie hasn’t made a movie in a dogs age and she’d hardly be considered B+ List as an actress. C List maybe, but not B+. Not even being Mrs. Tom Cruise is getting her film work. If it was she wouldn’t have done Eli Stone or supporting role on Broadway. X has more movie projects (ZERO) lined up than Katie.
Also - folks are guessing the reason it has the potential of being such a huge scandal is because EL didn’t say the producer the actress is having the affair with is a man. So it might be a woman.
