New ‘Benjamin Button’ Stills!

Check out these awesome new stills of Brad Pitt as Benjamin Button and Cate Blanchett as his love interest, Daisy, in the upcoming time traveler’s tale The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The film was adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards. Fifth picture below: A healing preacher (Lance E. Nichols, left) seeks to help Benjamin (Pitt, sitting) who has been brought to the convocation by Queenie (Taraji P. Henson, center).

Button opens everywhere on Christmas Day, December 25. Check out the official movie site at BenjaminButton.com.

The Hollywood Reporter calls the film “an intimate epic about love and loss that is pure cinema.”

$150 million budget.. My goodness, I just hope they recoup and go on to a big, big pay day. And this movie will be going up against Tom Cruise’s Valkaryl (or whatever) opening Boxing Day, Will Smith’s latest movie, opening a few days earlier and Jennifer Aniston’s Marley and me, opening Christmas Day also. This is going to be one big box office fight and I thionkmthe loser will be J.en Aniston’s rom com.

I can’t wait to watch this movie!
This seems like one of those very interesting movies to come in a lonng, long time.

yet people were making fun of the fan for asking about them in the first place! Just goes to show ya…hypocrites…

http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/92062?fp=1

This movie will be a huge box office hit and will get many Oscar nominations. I will watch it on Christmas Day.

I am excited about this movie, it looks fab! Advanced previews are saying it’s a great, great movie and one predicts 10 Oscar noms!

This is a wonderful movie. It is rated R. “Marley and Me” is rated PG so each movie including Wil’s and Tom’s will have their own market during the holidays. I’m sure the critics will put it their 50 cents later on. But from the trailer, Brad and the rest of the cast look mesmerizing. I will definitely see this movie on Christmas Day.

This is THE movie if you want to see one this holiday season!!!!!!!
So excited!!!! The special effect alone is worth the admision IMO.
I know the budget of this movie is huge. Hopefully when it’s all said and done, worldwide receipts will recoupe the cost and turn in a little profit for the studio.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for major acting awards either from Brad or Angie this year. We fans need to support their movies. If anyone here has not seen Changeling yet, I urge you to go see it. Peace.

“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”

Every once in a while comes a film that garners nominations across the board from acting and directing to visual style and effects. This year’s Oscar juggernaut may be “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” which will be released Christmas Day. Adapted from a short story of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the film follows the unique and challenging life of Benjamin Button. Button, played by Brad Pitt, is born in his 80s and ages backwards. The fact that his life runs in the complete opposite direction of all those around him creates unimaginable challenges for Button. The use of computer-generated imaging to handle Button’s uncharacteristic appearances may bring Oscar recognition along with the acting, writing and art direction.

I can’t wait to watch this wonderful movie.

Love Brad and Angelina! This movie looks great. Can’t wait to see it. Our family has a tradition of going to the movies on Christmas day and this is the one we chose.

I saw this movie on Sunday at a screening in L.A. It’s the best film I”ve seen this year and probably on my top 5 of all time. Incredible film making on all levels. Cate Blanchett always hits it out of the park with her acting and this is the best I’ve seen Brad Pitt, ever! Go see this wonderful film.

Brad Pitt + David Fincher + Cate Blanchett = masterpiece

Gee, inFuggy, I directed my e-mail at Shitzy yesterday, but apparently I need to repeat it for you ignorant ass as well…

Here’s another CCOBB review from a Variety critic. I think the one posted this morning was

Todd McCarthy. This one is Anne Thompson.

TROLLS - PLEASE NOTE THE LAST PARAGRAPH, SHITZY. DON’T SAY YOU WEREN’T TOLD IN ADVANCE THAT CCOBB ISN’T EXPECTED TO HAVE A $100MIL WEEKEND OR DOMESTIC TOTAL. THIS IS A REALLY, REALLY EXPENSIVE ART FILM. IT’S NOT WILL SMITH FIGHTING ALIENS OR BATMAN OR JAMES BOND. SO
CHECK YOUR USUAL BULLSHIT AT THE DOOR ON DECEMBER 25 AND DON’T BRING IT ON THE THREAD OR ELSE SANTA IS GOING TO COME TAKE BACK THE LUMP OF COAL HE’S GOING TO LEAVE YOU!

http://weblogs.variety.com/thompsononhollywood/2008/11/the-curious-cas.html

I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Saturday (following the aborted Thursday screening), and have been trying to sort it out ever since.

David Fincher and screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) have delivered an historic achievement, a masterful piece of cinema, and a moving treatise on death, loss, loneliness and love. As the movie proceeds, and Brad Pitt as Button ages backwards, we know where he is headed: it’s where we are all going. But he feels he has to go there by himself, without his loved ones. And nobody wants to die alone. (Here is Todd McCarthy’s review.)

So when the movie reaches its climax, it is extraordinarily moving (although some find the movie cold and dispassionate). It may pack a more powerful punch the older you are and the more people you have lost. In that case it will score with the Academy, who will also recognize the skillful filmmaking on display.

The movie marks a seismic shift in terms of what is possible in moviemaking. What Fincher and his team have done is no small technological feat. Button starts off as a CG-aged baby, moves through CG-altered older Pitt faces superimposed on small bodies, and then proceeds to the “real” Pitt wearing makeup and then getting younger and younger. Thus the film’s central performance is in great part a visual effect. (Blanchett is also made younger digitally, but aged with makeup.) That accounts in part for the movie’s high cost (well above $150 million) but is also its primary limitation.

Thus, while I admire the film’s amazing accomplishment–it’s hard to imagine that anyone but the digitally sophisticated Fincher, who has become adept at “painting” his digital canvases, could have pulled this off–the movie is not entirely satisfying. But given what it is, it’s hard to imagine it being done done any better. The actors are superb, especially Pitt and Cate Blanchett, who should earn Oscar noms. What’s missing has partly to do with the limitations of the technology. Button reminds me of Peter Sellers as Chauncey Gardner in Being There. He’s oddly passive and restrained, zen-like as he floats through all the decades, watching, listening, learning. He narrates the tale via his diary, along with his dying love Blanchett. We see him engaging with people, but he never says much. We see him from the outside; we never get under his skin, and we never learn the fruits of his wisdom. He stays much the same.

Still, the movie is sadly beautiful, of a piece, as impeccably wrought as its ornate clock that runs counterclockwise. Do Paramount and Warner Bros. have a prayer of making their money back? This movie needs all the help it can get, from anyone who loves movies and wants the studios to take more risky bets like this one.

I love the picture of Brad playing chess. He is so gorgeous. Benjamin Button looks like a fantastic movie.

queen bee @ 11/25/2008 at 6:10 pm

At the risk of upsetting MANISTON…..I also have a timeline of when I fell in love with Brad Pitt….

….Much like Angelina, the Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie in 2005/2006 is what pretty much had me sit up, drool, and take notice…

….After seeing his great sense of humor and romance which seems to have brought out Angie’s wicked sense of fun, passion, and competitive nature…..A SIZZLING ON-SCREEN LEGEND OF A COUPLE WAS BORN!….

….I then found out that they were actually together in real life….and this got very interesting…

…After researching BOTH of their personal and professional histories, I realized these two were much more than a pretty face. Brad had made choices in acting which were not the typical ‘look at me…i can do big box-office’ roles….

….I also realized that the media portrayed him unfairly, and so did the people who interviewed him and reported about him. There seemed to be this ‘LUSTFUL ADULATION’ that followed him, and it appeared he was not too comfortable with it….but had to go along…

…I then bought the movies Brad had been in durin previous years which had gotten widespread critical acclaim (Thelma & Louise, A River Runs Through It, Legends Of the Fall, Interview with a Vampire, Snatch, Fight Club, and Se7en)…..AND I WAS HOOKED…

…so there it is….

…I came (no pun intended) a little late to the ‘BRAD PITT’ party…but I’m here….AND I AINT GOIN HOME!

…the fact that he recognized the outer and INNER beauty of the most fascinating, complicated, beautiful, talented, empathetic, inspiring woman in Hollywood is just icening on the cake!!!!!!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE……..so happy for him, …for THEM!

…it’s so great to be a Jolie-Pitt fan!….you haterz should try it!

…that little pissy man in snorrah scares me…I am really afraid…hahhaahha…that lizard is kin to jurassic park…hahahhaahhahaha

…pa pa snorrah is scary like freddy krueger…booo!…uh oh!…he gone get me…hahahhaahhaha

beautiful @ 11/25/2008 at 6:17 pm

CCOBB is THE movie of the year. It is a beautiful epic love story. I can’t wait. I am so happy Brad gets great reviews about his performance.

queen bee @ 11/25/2008 at 6:22 pm

In rebellion to UGLYston’s unwarranted attack on our BELOVED Angie, I think the Jolie-Pitt+6 fans should present their OWN timeline of when they FELL IN LOVE WITH BRAD PITT!!!!!!…

…this will give rise to having people acknowledge how foolish this woman really is….and how dis-empowering it is to have a grown woman still harping about a relationship that ended nearly 4 years ago!!!…

Let the games begin!…

PS: funny how when Angie or Brad discuss their family or briefly proclaim their love for one another, it’s reported that they are somehow ‘rubbing jens nose in it’….

…but when they DON’T say anything about each other or indicate their deep feelings about their relationship, its reported that their union is ‘fake’ or that one of them don’t love the other as much as they loved their exes……HOGWASH!!!….

People need to accept that they are witnessing one of the GREATEST LOVE STORY’S IN HOLLYWOOD!!

I will be happy if one of them get Oscar nom. They will go to Oscar, we will see their hotness on rc and maybe some pitt porn.

hhhmmmmm nice stills!

…is jolie p orn the same as pitt p orn?…just asking…I ain’t sure…

Heyyy anustin–where have you been??? Sure miss you :-)

…”all I hear is raindrops falling on th rooftops”

…and I don’t know why they don’t tell people in advance that snorrah is a scary movie…

BTW does anyone know if Shiloh really appears in the film as a baby Cate Blanchett?

lol, what a strange universe we live in, usually you have trolls changing names to criticize, now you have a fan changing names to praise, lol, it beats the alternative. The movie looks great by the way.

Hey guli how are you??

hiya back at ya guli!!!!…..jealous of poppa pitts good looks!

Even Oprah was crazy about this film, saying over and over this film is THE film to see this Xmas. What about the DOG movie? She didn’t promote it as heavily as she did for BB. But hey, a TV actress can make some meaningless romcom, too. It’s a free country.

Besane and anustin…I’m fine, how about you lovely ladies???…. Hmmm as usual some jealous person is having a hissy fit..so what’s new… Just laugh about the idiot haters and enjoy the JP families LOVE success for FOUR years…

Don’t we all have a timeline of falling in love with Brad Pitt. But don’t tell maniston. hehehe.

And to ms cleo, interesting you name yourself after a fake fortune teller on cable, lol, brad and angie aren’t in competition with each other, that was his fake marriage to the dustin hoffman look a like, lol, they both will be together on the red carpet if either or both get a nom, hmmm i wonder how that’s going to go down in trollsville, lol

…ain’t noone jealous…and the universe has been restored and it doesn’t allow bandwagons or freeloaders by association…

foxy brown @ 11/25/2008 at 7:02 pm

#56 Queen Bee–I agree with your comments. I too have seen all of Brad and Angie’s movies and I loved them all. It seems they both took movies with interesting storylines over box office popularity. I am often surprised when someone mentions that they do not like them–maybe they are judging them by the gossip magazines instead of their talent. I wish them–as I wish all–love, happiness, and good health. *Be positive about things and positive things will come to you.
*Look for the best in people and hopefully people will look for the best in you. *

I first fell in love with Brad in Legends of the Fall.

Good evening to all BAMPZSKV fans. I just finished catching up on the other thread. The trolls are out in full force and crazy as ever. Now there is a new thread and here they are.

The CCBB stills look impressive. I am not a big fan of CB but she does look good in this role. And of course Brad always looks good. Wouldn’t it be something if Brad and Angie are both nominated for everything together? It is a long shot, but GGs, Oscars, SWG? Remember a couple of critics said Brad could get a Golden Globes nod for BAR. That would be awesome. BAR and CCBB that would be truly awesome.

Has anyone seen any reviews of Marley & Me or any of the other movies opening around the time CCBB is opening? It seems strange that CCBB is the only one being reviewed so heavily. I hope some start coming out soon. Peace

I am still at work, so I am shooting off a quick post before leaving. I was just over at Pittwatch, and there is a link to the guardianuk newspaper with an article that mirrors the one from the NY Times. I t is speculative, demeaning and downright disparaging to Angie. They made her out to be this controlling, calculating b**ch, and if Huvane is not behind all of this, I will eat my hat. THere is an agenda at work here, either to destroy Brad and Angie’s relationship, and/or destroy her character. These people are dangerous, and I honestly hope that the JPs take steps to get to the bottom of all this sudden attacks.

groundcontrol @ 11/25/2008 at 7:36 pm

Deep Thoughts from groundcontrol . . .

Does anyone think that the real reason Aniston went after Gerard Butler for her prison girl movie was to pump him for “dirt” about our girl?

I am beyond stupified that Tom Cruise actually believes that Suri refuses to wear pants because she is, as he so stupidly put it, a “girlie girl.” There are many practical reasons why pants are uncomfortable compared to skirts ( they itch, they are hard to get in and out of, etc. ) The idea that a 2 year old is in any way aware of the gender dynamics of skirts vs. pants is offensive and sexist.

I tried to twice post here to no avail about this past Sunday’s NY Times crossword puzzle. The puzzle inside the same magazine with that woman on the cover. The answer to two clues involved Brad and that woman. The 78Down clue was “Brad and 86Down, e.g.” The answer was EXES. When you went to 86Down all it said was “See 78Down.” 78Down was a 3 letter word for loser (if you get my drift). So from now on that woman will be forever known to me as “See 78Down.” No name - just a reference to her EX. LOL!

I can’t decide if the crossword puzzle mention is something that woman begged for to keep her name linked to Brad OR it was some people at the NY Times rubbing that woman’s face in her pathetic and unending using Brad for attention.

Ben Button looks more fascinating with each report I read. The short story is funny and very poignant.

How did they make him a midget?

Can’t wait for this movie. I hope this could end up as sucessful as Forest Gump. critic are already saying its better than Forest Gump.

I love Cate Blanchett she is absolutely beautiful I think the combination of her and Brad is awesome.

“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” represents a richly satisfying serving of deep-dish Hollywood storytelling. This odd, epic tale of a man who ages backwards is presented in an impeccable classical manner, every detail tended to with fastidious devotion. An example of the most advanced technology placed entirely at the service of story and character, this significant change-of-pace from director David Fincher poses some daunting marketing challenges, even with Brad Pitt atop the cast. Strong critical support will be needed to swell interest in this absorbing, even moving, but emotionally cool film, which is simultaneously accessible and distinctive enough to catch on with a large public if luck and the zeitgeist are with it.

Film Review: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
By Kirk Honeycutt
Nov 24, 2008

“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”

The fantasy element in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1922 short story “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” in which a man ages backward, does not begin to suggest the urgent drama and romantic fatalism that director David Fincher and writers Eric Roth and Robin Swicord have so strikingly brought to the screen in the movie version.
Fitzgerald’s story is little more than a plot gimmick. Yet the film transforms this gimmick into an epic tale that contemplates the wonders of life — of birth and death and, most of all, love.
Superbly made and winningly acted by Brad Pitt in his most impressive outing to date, the audience for this Paramount/Warner Bros. co-production is large. Strong boxoffice should ensue.
Although hard to pigeonhole, “Benjamin Button” comes closest to Latin American magic realism, which juxtaposes the fantastic with the realistic. The film shares elements with another Roth-written film, “Forrest Gump,” wherein a most unusual man sets out on an odyssey through 20th century American history. But Fincher, an unusual but winning choice as director, makes certain that “Benjamin Button” has none of the whimsy or coy historical revisionism of “Gump.”

Even the framework for the story underscores that there are forces within nature that man can’t control. Daisy (Cate Blanchett), a dying woman in a New Orleans hospital, gives her daughter (Julia Ormond) a memoir to read as Hurricane Katrina bears down on the city. The memoirist is none other than Benjamin (Pitt), born on the day of victory in Europe in 1918.

He was, he writes, “born under unusual circumstances.” He’s a baby that looks like a failing man in his 80s with poor eyesight, brittle bones and wrinkled flesh. His mother dies giving birth and his father (Jason Flemyng) abandons him, fittingly, at an old-age home. A maternal black woman, Queenie (Taraji P. Henson), who runs the place, takes him in and raises him in the one environment where he can pass unnoticed.

He truly fits in among blacks and people old and forgotten by time. Everyone is an outsider here. As a somewhat younger old man, he meets Daisy as a small girl (Elle Fanning) visiting an ancient relative. Their friendship will last both of their lifetimes — though ones moving in opposite directions — and will evolve into romance and passionate love.

Much keeps them apart though as Daisy pursues a career in ballet while Benjamin, once he gets a handle on what’s happening to him, is a man who will never feel comfortable in his own skin. The job on a tug boat with its hard-drinking pilot (Jared Harris) takes him to Russia and an affair with a British spy’s wife (Tilda Swinton) and then into naval action in World War II.

After the war, Daisy’s career takes off. She also can’t quite make up her mind about involvement with a man growing younger each year. But when commitment comes, contentment, brief though it might be, ensues.

Benjamin’s story is preceded by Daisy’s recollection of a watch maker (Elias Koteas) who, having lost his beloved son in World War I, made a clock for the New Orleans train station that ran backward so that time might move the same way and his boy would come back to him. Thus, narratively and thematically, the film positions time running backward as part of man’s eternal desire to cheat death and to cling to those closest to us.

Pitt’s Benjamin is a touching and poignant figure, a person often lost within his own life but with a comic spirit that allows him to accept his backward fate. Blanchett illuminates the screen with a beauty and intelligence that makes Benjamin’s pursuit of Daisy as much a quest for life as for love. As the adoptive mother, Henson embodies the essence of a good woman who derives her strength from God and her instincts from common sense.

Fincher’s direction is sure-handed during the entire 166 minutes, which never feels long or pretentious. The film takes Donald Graham Burt’s brilliant period design in stride, never overemphasizing it or lingering on an artifact. Claudio Miranda’s cinematography wonderfully marries a palette of subdued earthy colors with the necessary CGI and other visual effects that place one in a magical past.

OFFTOPIC: Momoji, voe etc

(1) I’m Australian and proudly so. When Bush asked my Country to send my fellow citizens to fight in Iraq, my country, I am involved.

(2) When Bush or any American President issues US Treasury Bonds to fund their spending, and my country and fellow citizens buy these bonds, I am involved.

(3) There’s plenty to admire about America. I don’t believe I’ve ever said Americans are stupid, because, I would be stupid to think that of a nation that has brought forth some of the best ideas and technology and transformed the world. And I’m not that stupid ;-)

(4) I don’t know if I’m smarter then George Bush, but I suppose I (and a number of other posters here) could be. But I’m definitely not as ambitious as George Bush. Please note, I’ve criticized Bush’s policies. I’ve never criticized Bush personally for being venal, corrupt, stupid, etc.. I’ve never even gone as far as Scott Mcllelan and Alan Greenspan…

(5) There’s plenty to admire about China. But there’s many things I disagree about it’s policies. I buy China made last. I don’t buy China food produce, not even apples. I recommend you do the same, both for safety reasons and also as a protest to a government which supports Darfur and Burma. There are alternatives, made in Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India (but not so much).

(6) I don’t have a problem with the one child policy in China. I do think instead of aggressively pursuing the one child policy through a system of enforcement and punishment, they should pass a law which states that Boys must follow the maternal surname and girls must follow the paternal surname, which would really change the boy-girl preference in that culture :-) Pity no one wants to wade outside the box.

(7) Momoji, I genuinely believe what Alan Greenspan said was true - Bush should have either cut spending or raise taxes. When Bush entered the white house, he entered with a budget surplus. Over the course of his administration, the budget surplus became a huge budget deficit. As this equation changed, I believe he should have adjusted his economic policy. Say what you will of Alan Greenspan, I see him, like I see Colin Powell, as a very fine public servant and statesman. I don’t believe Greenspan lied when he wrote in his book, Age of Turbulence, that he asked Bush to cut spending.

(8) If Obama keeps spending up a storm, long after the financial crisis and risk of depression have passed, I’d be just a critical of his policies and actions.

Now, I’m ready to move on from this topic. Bush has finished his term and time will allow all of us to better judge his administrations successes and failures more clearly in 20 to 50 years time.

I haven’t seen any reviews of the dog flick and don’t expect to until shortly before it comes out. All the movie sites are concentrating on the movies with Oscar buzz…which the dog flick don’t got! BBBWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Other Oscar caliber movies coming out in the next month that are getting great reviews - The Reader, Milk, Slumdog Millionaire,Doubt and The Wrestler.

Movies getting very mixed reviews - Grand Torino, Revolutionary Road (one guy actually detested Leo in the role of the husband).

One movie coming out the week before CCOBB - Will Smith’s Seven Pounds - I haven’t seen any buzz about this movie or seen any reviews.

One movie coming out the day AFTER CCOBB - InFuggy’s homey’s “Valkyrie” - I haven’t seen any buzz about or reviews of either…just a whooooooooooole lot of snickering…

Hey Guli,

# 108 …..I genuinely believe what Alan Greenspan said was true - Bush should have either cut spending or raise taxes. When Bush entered the white house, he entered with a budget surplus. =====================================
How do you know cut spending or raise taxes should be the course of action for Bush?

Just because Greenspan said so doesnt mean it’s a wise move.

Remember Greenspan pretty much created the sub prime mess. He let the interest rate stay too low and too long.

Also, did you know by the time Clinton left office, he gave Bush a beginning-to-go-south-economy. May be Bush should have cut EVEN deeper on taxes and increase EVEN more spending to STIMULATE the economy, pretty much like your beloved Obama is going to do.

You keep talking about the deficit. But part of the deficit is because of the 2 wars. True, Clinton had a surplus. But there was NO 9/11 during Clinton’s reign.

You post also said, “…….Bush has finished his term and time will allow all of us to better judge his administrations successes and failures more clearly in 20 to 50 years time.”. But, lylian, you waste no time in bashing him INCESSANTLY !!!! Not only that, you made fun of Palin’s passort. Apparently, you equate travel experience to grasp of foreign policy knowledge. To me, , you must be “on a roll” , writing posts to destroy the other candidate that you got sloppy in your thinking.

The BOM foreign total for BAR is wrong. They’re not very prompt about updating the foreign totals. According to the Variety story on Monday BAR passed $71MIL this past weekend. The new total is actually $131,041,748.

Momoji, one last time. I have criticised Bush policies not him personally. But the door is still open for me to wake up one day and say “I was wrong about Bush”.

Sarah Palin? LOL. Let’s not get into that or we will never end. If I did equate her lack of a passport to lack of grasp in foreign policy (which I don’t recall doing but let’s just say I did), then I was only half right. The other piece of the jigsaw was own her statements to Katie Couric about being able to see Russia from her Alaska!!!

Fini, fini, fini. We can argue till kingdom come and I don’t want to.

Aha!!! I did say, box office at the Babel territory!!

Notice that Changeling is going well. Still holding at No. 5 with more international territories.

I noticed that at the numbers website which you, PT gave for the titanic, the advertising and marketing budget was NOT equal to the production budget - which is what we were told is the rule of thumb. I also took the chance to look at other films and clearly advertising and marketing budget is not the same size as the production budget. Advertising and marketing costs are closer on average to 25% to 50% of production budget.

it has been a long time, just saying hello to all the regulars, miss you guys

Lylian, of all those posts you wrote against Bush, your last post, 1st paragragh is the only one I agree. It would be nice to adopt a WAIT and see approach before your verbal rampage. But now the election is over, I’m sure you feel there’s no need to continue.

Another thing, Alaska and Russia are very close to each other. I remember reading something that some Eskimo can walk across because the water is so frozen. She may be referring to the edge of Russia, the very remote part of Russia, not Moscow.

The Big 10′: Who needs a Hollywood bailout?
Jennifer Aniston

The glory days: In the nineties, Jennifer Aniston was riding high. She landed the role of superficial-yet-lovable Rachel Green on “Friends,” an entire generation of women copied her hairdo, and she won an Emmy for best lead actress. Then, in 2000, she married golden boy Brad Pitt in a lavish Malibu ceremony, and in 2002 she gained indie cred with “The Good Girl.” Who could ask for more?

Troubled times: After Aniston and Pitt called it quits — and Pitt started dating Angelina Jolie - Aniston was painted as a victim. Recently, Aniston’s on-and-off relationship with John Mayer has come under the microscope, amid rumors she is pregnant. Jen’s appearance on “30 Rock” did little to buoy her falling star; the episode garnered the lowest ratings of the season. An appearance on “Oprah” and a jab at Jolie in a “Vogue” interview only provided further fodder for media scrutiny.

Bailout plan: Appealing as it is to cozy up to Oprah and gush, you may want to adopt the phrase “no comment” with regards to all things Brad and Angelina. And as for your unlucky-in-love image, how about trading in the actors and musicians for a regular guy? Get out of the spotlight and focus on what you love: acting! Why not star in a Broadway play? Added bonus: you’ll get out of L.A. for a while.

Oh brother… Someone REALLY needs to bust a cap in the noggins of TIIC at OuttaTouch. For the last 3 weeks they’ve been on this ridiculous jag that Angie’s pregnant again. They claim she’s OVER 3 months preggers. I think they need to go back and take a female physiology class and have someone explain to them about how long it takes a woman to start ovulating again after delivering a baby. Cuz the last time I checked it took a little longer than 3 weeks after giving birth. That and the fact that they’d have been advised to not have sex for up to 6 weeks. But hey…who am I…or science…to stand in the way of another hilarious Outta Touch lie? Oh yeah…a little thing like Geyer Kosinski denying she’s preggers phases Outta Touch….since it’s the 3rd consecutive week they’ve spun this tale the previous 2 issues must have sold well. The other thing that’s funny about this is…they did the exact same thing after Shiloh was born. Angie was seen with a little belly fat and they turned it into back-to-back pregnancies…only to write 3 months later that she was too thin and anorexic…everybody roll their eyes…

HUGE fan of Cate’s (greatest actress on earth) and I really really want her to win Best Actress this year! It’s been way too long! This movie looks absolutely breathtaking and has been generating all kinds of BP buzz, I can’t wait to see it!

LOL at the OuttaTouch cover. “Angelina can’t stop talking about the baby”. That’s news to us her fans, who watch and read all her interviews. “Brad is not thrilled”? Well, I guess we have to ask the millions who watched Oprah the other day when Brad was on her show saying “I dare say” to her “You’re happier than you have ever been”. I guess he didn’t know then that Angelina is pregnant again. Hahahaha.

4Q–^^^ that is hilarious..thanks for the linl and post

“Brad isn’t thrilled”? He’s the one who’s been talking about having more kids, not Angie.

At any rate, I don’t think they will have any more natural kids. I think they will adopt one more in another year or two, and call it quits at seven.

Oh yeah — whatever happened to that baby bump Outa Touch said Aniston was carrying? I always said one good **** would deflate that “baby bump”. Looks like Jenny-poo laid an egg because the bump disappeared overnight.

Actually, I do think they will another natural child. Unless Angie had her tubes tied (which I doubt) she will get pregnant again. Possibly after her next movie or while filming it. They seem to be a very fertile and very sexed couple. So why not….she can handle it, they can handle it together. Brad seems to adore her like crazy, he is probably very protective of her (i.e. last photocall in London).

Look if I had the kind of resources they have…I would have lots and lots of children. And please I dont want to hear anything about nannies, nannies are there for the mundane tasks while mum have more time for children.

However, she cannot be 3 months pregnant now, after a cesarian you need at least 6 weeks. Unless Angie got pregnant while shooting the W magazine shoot. She did say “things sorta got out of hand” With those two one can only imagine. Even then she would not be 3 mts pregnant.

Oh well, I think they are great anyway!

I have not made comments about Brad’s ex because the old triangle is tiresomes. But with all the talk recently about who is and is not uncool, let me just say this. JA had a publicist and PR team in 2005 and was promoting at least 3 movies in 2005. Angie had no publicist or PR team (still doesn’t) and she and Brad stayed away from public appearances until after his divorce was finalized. So Angie was beat up on to further JA’s career. JA used the divorce to further her movie career and Angie was the real victim. Angie had no publicist to protect her from all the negative press planted by the JA people and the haters. Also JA lashed out at Brad over the W photoshoot because he was telling the world through photos that what looks like a happy marriage could in fact be the exact opposite. Then this year JA lashes out at Angie because Angie talks about how she was developing feelings for Brad during MAMS. Again I think Angle is really letting the world know that there was no perfect marriage to break up. When Angie talks about that time period, remember she is intelligent, caring, sensitive and candid. Just listen to her talk or read her interviews. So I think she is not being insensitive to JA, but is letting people in on the dynamics during that time period. I suspect Brad and JA were probably living separate lives before MAMS began. I think Angie and Brad became close on the set. That is obvious but I believe them when they say they started their relationship after his legal separation. Both Brad and Angie are intelligent, sensitive, caring individuals. So their comments about that time period are very telling. JA wants to play the victim by victimizing Brad and Angie when she had movies to promote. It’s a pity the media is so gullible.

I agree with you Val…..I also think they will have one more bio and one more adopted child. Then they will have four of each. Even numbers. Unless, gawd forbid, they have mulitiples again.

Loved the LA times piece………went over and posted.

Thanks passing Through. I read some where that Doubt wasn’t that good. I don’t remember where, but it was on line somewhere. I just want Brad and Angie to get nominated and win. Peace

Most likely another Ethiopian little girl like ZZ.

I think they will adopt another child from Ethiopia or another African country — or maybe from Latin America?

Jill did you here what she said on access hollywood? that doesn’t sound like a person who doesn’t want to get pregnant again. They’ll have 1 more pregnancy and one more adoption.

Running after her little ones may be how Angelina Jolie gets her exercise, but she’s glad she has Brad Pitt to join her.

“I have a great partner,” the world-famous mom told Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell at the “Kung Fu Panda” DVD release party at the Mann Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. “He’s the best daddy and we have fun, so whenever it gets hard we can just look at each other and find a way to laugh about and just appreciate that they’re only little once, and we should enjoy every minute.”

Angie credited her energetic brood with her svelte physique after the birth of twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

“I’m running around after six of them,” she told Nancy. “Swimming with the kids a little and things like that, [too].”

And, she told Access, there are more to come.

“Anything could happen,” she said. “We’re open to anything, we love kids and we’re having a great time… It’s chaos in our house, but it’s so much fun. We’ll definitely have more.”

With “Kung Fu Panda 2″ in the works, Angelina said another pregnancy wouldn’t interfere with her role as Tigress.

“It’s the action movie I can do with a giant belly, so we’re good,” she said.

Happy, Happy, Thanksgiving fans!

I agree, Jill–but I hope after that they will have at least one more bio.

Their next adoption will be from africa, or if not africa where ever its from the child will be black.

Hey another adoption thread! yay!

ROTFLMAO. They should have posted this a few weeks ago instead of that vapid “interview” they did with her for no reason whatsoever. I’ve never seen anyone pimp a movie so far in advance of the opening.

Also - I wish someone would please explain to me why so many people want to “straighten out” X’s career? B#tch can’t act her way out of a wet paper bag. Telling X to do Broadway is like suggesting to Pamela Anderson that she might want to give Shakespeare a whirl. Just don’t say “DO Shakespeare” or old Pammy will think the Bard needs a BJ and back rub… Now that I think about it…X would probably think the same thing. She’d probably figure blowing the Bard would get him to finance her next romcom…until someone explained to her that he’s dead…

I still haven’t seen Changeling, I can’t wait to see it when I go home. I heard & see the trailer that Angie’s performance is Oscar worthy. Brad & Angie have the chemistry & magic together, they are the best couple ever that hit HW.

In its December Issue, Details pays tribute to the Power players who have helped shape one of the most transformational years our country has seen in decades.

In its annual Power Issue, Details, on stands nationally December 2nd, recognizes John Mayer as one of the Top 40 Most Influential Men Under 40, for both his earnest, soulful emo-balladry and shameless blabbing to the press.

The talented singer keeps us intrigued with his clever blog posts, ad-hoc
comedy routines, and mysterious infatuation with testifying to, and against,
the ever-curious paparazzi.

John made number 11 on the Details Power List:

11. JOHN MAYER
Press ***** (Age: 31)

There are two John Mayers: the first an arena-filling blues-pop prodigy prone to earnest emo-balladry, the second-the interesting one-a starlet-bagging Lothario as shamelessly efficient about the telling as he is about the kissing. The secret of his success is his sensitive exterior. With his clever blog posts and ad hoc stand-up routines, Mayer seems too smart, too sweet, too self-aware to revel in celebrity climbing. But the proof is in the photo op: In July he delivered eloquent, scathing testimony at Los Angeles’ City Hall pleading for anti-paparazzi legislation; a month later he held court outside his New York gym, telling the shutterbugs who mysteriously knew he’d be there why dumping Jennifer Aniston was actually the ultimate sign of his respect for her. “Instead of a ‘no comment,’ he launches into a speech about how he wants them to ‘write some real stuff’ and what a ‘great’ girl Aniston is,” says Seth Abramovitch, the editor of Defamer. “At most, it’s something you tell your best friend after eight beers-not a reporter from OK! after spin class.” Given Mayer’s compulsive codependency, Johnifer’s (or is it Mayniston’s?) rumored reconciliation in October came as little surpise. The way we learned about it was less surprising still: They were reportedly spotted canoodling in the oh-so-private confines of LAX.

Dating experts: Shut up Jen ( from Sydney Morning Herald, 26 Nov)
Jennifer Aniston has been offered dating advice by the authors of The Rules.

Sherrie Schneider - who co-wrote the infamous dating manual with Ellen Fein - says the former Friends actress should not have spoken publicly about her summer break-up from John Mayer, and should also keep quiet about her ex-husband Brad Pitt’s relationship with Angelina Jolie.

Schneider said: “Breaking up is never easy, but it doesn’t have to be humiliating. Never mention Brad’s or John Mayer’s name in public. Also, don’t say anything bad about John, like when you said he was missing a sensitivity chip.”

Referring to Aniston’s recent first interview about Jolie, during which she called the actress “uncool” for admitting she had started her relationship with Pitt while he was still married, Schneider added: “Never talk about Angelina or call her ‘uncool’, even if she was uncool. She does not exist in your world.”

Fein also said Aniston, who recently rekindled her relationship with Mayer, should not wait before broaching the subject of starting a family with the Gravity singer.

She added: “You are going to be 40 soon. You have no time to waste if you want kids.”

All todays news report angie pregnant, even the daily mail no way im not buying this one she needs a couple of years recover from her c section, anything to sell them trashy magazines its getting crazy now they will say anything.

Good Morning to all. Do not worry about Angie..She is having fun and enjoying her children with her loving partner-Brad.

I don’t waste my money on the tap magazines; especially the ones that print such lies. Angie is scheduled to begin shooting a movie in February. She is under contract. The movie will have lots of action. I doubt she would get preggers now. She said after the movie she would probably take another year off. I don’t want to discuss Jen, but I get so mad when she and Angie are compared in Forbes and such. Angie really makes very few movies. If she was career driven, she could make 2 or 4 movies a year, she does not.

But I can’t wait to see CCOBB. I can’t see it Christmas Day…Family… But will be at the theater on Dec. 26th. I have seen Changeling 3 times. Yes, I do support the Brange. I am so proud and happy about Brad’s film choices in the last 4 years.

I fell in love with Brad after watching Seven… I started late. I always thought that he was too beautiful. I could not get away from his looks. After seven, I went back and watched his other films.. Snatch, Fight Club, A River runs Through It, Babel, Jesse James, California, Legends of the Fall,…

He is just wonderful.. It is great to see a young man mature into a “Man’. Brad Pitt is a Man. He has found himself, and is living the life he has always wanted… He found his “Soul Mate” Angelina… He is making great movies… Producing great movies.. What else is there left to say… And to the immature children who call this man ugly… When you grow up, you will understand his appeal. When you move away from boys and really know what a Man is and should be… You will understand his appeal.

If you have not seen Changeling do so… Fan or not… You will really enjoy the film.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the fans from the States. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

——————–
Actually Changeling is out of the Top 5. Bolt and Twilight kicked it out.

They don’t celebrate Thanksgiving Day here in Germany.
We are going to the castle on Saturday, I am so excited. Weather is sunny & cold today.
God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

Changeling opening in the UK
Opens Wednesday 26 November 2008

Four out of Five stars
Running time: 141 mins

Beautifully made, emotionally gripping drama with a powerful central performance by Angelina Jolie that’s sure to attract Oscar buzz.

Angelina Jolie delivers a compelling performance, painting Christine as a woman who was simultaneously courageous and yet frighteningly vulnerable - her helplessness in the face of Code 12 (an actual law that enabled the police to commit anyone they deemed difficult) is genuinely terrifying. There’s also strong support from Malkovich and a brief but powerful cameo from Amy Ryan as a fellow prisoner who helps Christine deal with her imprisonment.

The production design is stunning throughout and the attention to detail is nothing short of astonishing, from Christine’s steel rollerskates (over heels) on the telephone exchange line to the red streetcars and the recreation of the 1920s LA skyline. The costume design is equally impressive, particularly Jolie’s green dress and hat ensemble, which recalls a famous Edward Hopper painting.

Angelina Jolie on Changeling
Angelina Jolie, star of Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, talks about a story that’s stranger than fiction, taking kids to a Tarantino set and the man’s role she plays in her next project Edwin A Salt

Why do you think the story had never been heard of before this film?
It’s bizarre. The writer looked through old disks of the ‘LA Times’, and he read all the stories. It was an amazing discovery. I don’t know why it hasn’t been told. I don’t know if it’s just another conspiracy! It was front page of the ‘LA Times’, many of the front covers. The murderer got the death penalty. It was a giant case. She took the police to court. So it is very strange.

It is such a harrowing story, how was it to portray a character in that situation?
I was pregnant by the end of the shoot, so I remember in the scene in which Gordon Northcott is attacking me and I was trying to break away, people were telling me to jump at him, and I said I didn’t think Christine would do that - she’s more timid and less physical than I am. I had times when I would sit with [co star] Amy Ryan and look around the hospital and just think about how this really happened. It wasn’t that long ago that all these women were locked up without anyone knowing anything about them, except a policeman saying ‘you’re no good and so you go in there’. It was an eerie feeling. Although, we knew we were explaining there was a victory for these women and we were very happy about that.

Looking forward to seeing Benjamin Button
There is such demand to see “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” that Paramount suddenly added four screenings just to keep up with demand after the press was finally able to see the finished film at Paramount on Saturday after the DGA digital snafu that cut the film short by about 2 hours and 20 minutes Thursday.

Speaking of the DGA, an 85-year-old producer, Alan Newman, died of a heart attack after standing in line waiting for a screening and David Fincher Q&A on Sunday, eerie since the remarkable film is a rumination on life and death. It sadly gave an added dimension to that screening to be sure.

Although like every other film with supporters and detractors, “Benjamin Button” is such an impressive and groudbreaking cinematic achievement that it seems to have genuinely earned its frontrunner status and looks like a cinch for at least 10 nominations, including for Cate Blanchett and Taraji P. Henson among the actors. Brad Pitt’s haunting performance is low key and all in his eyes. He’s great, but will it be too subtle for the actors’ branch? Hope not.

Reading between the lines of Fitzgerald adaptations

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - As Paramount readies its Christmas Day opening of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” the long, difficult relationship between the film industry and F. Scott Fitzgerald again will be put to the test.

“Button,” starring Brad Pitt as a man who is born a wizened old infant and gradually ages backward, is based on a 1922 short story by Fitzgerald that has long captured the imagination of filmmakers — producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy took on the project 18 years ago — but is just now reaching the screen, thanks to the latest digital wizardry orchestrated by a team led by director David Fincher.

But if “Benjamin Button” proved a particularly hard nut for Hollywood to crack, it’s not unique among Fitzgerald’s work. The author might have had a fascination with the movie industry — serving two tours of duty as a screenwriter — but his books, for all their popularity, have not been easy to adapt to the screen.

“The Great Gatsby,” Fitzgerald’s most celebrated novel, first published in 1925, has given rise to three films and one TV version without Hollywood ever quite getting it right. The first attempt, a 1926 silent film, has been lost. A 1949 version starred Alan Ladd as the quintessential American striver Jay Gatsby, but Bosley Crowther of the New York Times complained, “Except for a few pictorial tracings of parties and brittle high-life, the flavor of the Prohibition era is barely reflected in this new film.”

Paramount’s sumptuous 1974 version starring a glamorous Robert Redford as Gatsby and Mia Farrow as Daisy Buchanan, his one true love, arrived with a much higher profile. But though the film turned a profit, it ultimately became more about its trend-setting costumes than anything else. Despite the high-profile cast, it was nominated for just two Academy Awards — for Theoni V. Aldredge’s costumes and Nelson Riddle’s score — winning them both.

Hollywood went to the Fitzgerald well again two years later when Elia Kazan directed an adaptation of Fitzgerald’s final, uncompleted novel, “The Last Tycoon.” A study of a Hollywood mogul, inspired by MGM wunderkind Irving Thalberg, the book contained much of Fitzgerald’s hard-won understanding of Hollywood. But like so many of the screen’s efforts to do justice to Fitzgerald, the movie, starring Robert De Niro as the Thalberg figure, captures the surfaces without fully unlocking the emotions. Tellingly, its only Oscar nomination was for art direction.

CAPTURING THE SPIRIT

Over the years, there has been an occasional adaptation, like Joan Micklin Silver’s charming TV movie “Bernice Bobs Her Hair,” that captured Fitzgerald’s spirit. But most of the adaptations, like 1962’s luxe “Tender Is the Night,” have turned his plots into romantic melodrama. Given that Fitzgerald died in Hollywood, something of a broken writer, of a heart attack in 1940, it’s almost tempting to talk of a lingering curse that hovers over the town’s subsequent efforts to do him right.

“Benjamin Button,” though, could break that spell. For while the project carries the Fitzgerald name, screenwriter Eric Roth hasn’t slavishly followed Fitzgerald’s text. In fact, he’s thrown out most of the short story’s specifics: He’s moved the fable from the 19th century to the 20th. The action has been relocated from Baltimore to New Orleans; that decision was made based on the economics of filming, to take advantage of Louisiana’s tax incentives, but it provides the film with an evocative sense of place. Roth also created a new love interest for Benjamin, one that is deeper and more haunting than that in the original story. His adaptation jettisons most of Fitzgerald’s details, retaining only the author’s basic conceit of a life lived in reverse.

“The story itself is a beautiful story for a magazine piece in 1922. I think it is a little farcical for my taste anyway,” Roth says of his decision to reimagine the material. “I felt I had permission to put it in a modern vernacular. It’s a slightly different story, but the central core of it is the same.”

If audiences agree, then Fitzgerald might finally get his due on the big screen. If so, there are other filmmakers waiting in line to take up his mantle. Baz Luhrmann, for example, recently suggested that he’d like to take a crack at his own film version of “Gatsby.”

Here’s some morning hilarity for everyone…

US Lies Weakly has done a side-by-side comparison of Angie & X’s “sexiest covers” - magazine covers that is. First of all, they didn’t by any means choose Angie’s “sexiest”. What they did was compare the covers of mags they’ve both been on the cover of - Vogue, VF, Elle, Marie Claire, Rolling Stone, etc. They cap the comparison off with a couple of their own covers - gotta pimp the product, ya know - which of course feature Brad…then cap the entire thing off with the cover of their “How Angelina Tortures Fug X” issue…pimping the product to the bitter end…

Anyscuzbucket… The covers crack me up. Other than the US covers…see if you can find a mag that used a CLOSE UP of X’s mug for the cover. EIGHT OF THE NINE PHOTOS IS A FULL BODY SHOT!!!! In 7 of the 8 she’s showing a lot of skin - boobs, midriff, back…anything to take the focus off the fug. BBBWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Contrast that to Angie’s covers - where her face is ALWAYS prominent in the picture, even when it’s a full body shot, with her boobs playing a supporting role. X? They got the camera as far back from her fugness as possible. They should have put a bag on her head. X is the original butterface.

That Details Power List is full of shite. How in the hell did The Urinator AND Tiny Tom make it onto the list? Esepcially Tiny Tom At least The Urinator was all over the place making a nuisance of himself, but Tiny Tom? He didn’t do jackshit this year except ruin his ditch his producing partner, almost run a studio into non-existence and brainwash RoboBride some more. If that’s power, then I’m glad I’m just some schmoe making fun of his ass on a blog!

Geyer Kosinksi has already denied it. Apparently in their issue out today Outta Touch claimed that Angie had the prod schedule of Salt moved up so her bump wasn’t showing in the movie. The only problem is - she and Brad don’t work at the same time…and IG is shooting for another few weeks…and they claimed Angie is already OVER 3 months preggers. Even if she had the scheduled moved up to next week -THE BUMP IS GONNA SHOW!!! LOL. It’s just another of Outta Touch’s desperate bids for attention. You’d think they were X the way they carry on with their “Buy me! Buy me!” crap…

BTW - According to US GK told them that the Salt shoot is still scheduled for late Feb…onacounta Angie ain’t preggers!

Okay maybe it is just my suspicious mind working here, but doesn’t Crazy Tom aka GMD interview with Hello Magazine sounds like he is copying from Brad and Angie interview, when they are talking about their kids and the things they do, not the football part but the other stuff, the reading colouring, arts and crafts etc:

How do they spend leisure time?

“Family breakfast together, hanging out and watching movies, watching football, you know, spending the evening as a family colouring and reading books to Suri. Kate is an artist on many levels, so there’s lots of fun things and lots of arts and crafts projects. We all love reading books to Suri. We have those moments of just hanging out together and talking about the day.”

ROTFLMAO! Amen, Alex! That was the first thing I thought when I saw the quotes! You know Tiny Tom is getting desperate when he so blatantly steals comments from another A Lister. The funny thing is that this means he’s been reading & watching Brad and Angie’s interviews! BBBBWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! How pathetic can you bee. Brad’s star is brighter than Tiny Tom’s…and you know Tiny Tom NEVER thought that would happen because Brad doesn’t wh#re himself out the way Tiny Tom does. Brad’s never been one of those people who’ll do every talk show and every mag interview he’s asked to do. Tiny Tom has ALWAYS done that. And now he’s finding it much harder to get covers of the bigger mags…so he’s taking anything he can get…Details and Hello Canada instead of Vanity Fair and Esquire/GQ? My how the mighty have fallen…

BTW - There’s another quote where he’s talking about his home is wherever RoboBride is and they stay together as a family or some such crap. Total bullshit because he’s been in LA most of her Broadway run and only goes to NYC to pimp Suri on a few outtings…then goes back to LA. Also no mention, once again, of Connor & Isabella. it’s all about Suri, Suri, Suri…

Alex -

Here’s the quote I saw. Since when has Tiny Tom been “based” anywhere other than LA? B#tch, please. That’s BRAD’S word. He uses it all the time when he talks about their house in NO. And Brad and Angie always say their rule is to keep the family together… Is there a “*****************” smiley? If so, insert it here…

We’re based in New York City. I’ve always had the apartment [there], but we’re based in New York while Kate’s doing her play. Wherever Kate is, I am, so that’s it.

Passing Through @ 11/26/2008 at 10:53 am

OMG…PT as I was reading your post I got this vivid image in my mind..GMD watching and reading everything re JP’s and taking notes. ROTFLMAO
But, seriously I find it so disturbing that he never mentions Connor or Isabella… I guess he used Connor enough re soccer games etc. since he no longer is participating..and tiny Tom can’t use him for publicity he doesn’t bother.
BTW–I’m sure his new movie is going to be a complete bomb..but does he even have anything else lined up??? It really is shocking how he commited a career suicide and CAN NOT recover from it…sort of sad…

hey Guli PT, Neleh, alex, us the old timers :)

I just wonder what was the reasons behind making the decision to produce this Valkyrie movie. Didn’t Cruise see this was a bad idea? OK it is a compelling story I suppose, but for goodness sake it’s about WWII. There are more immediate and compelling war stories that need to be told. It has FLOP written all over it!

Passing Through @ 11/26/2008 at 11:33 am

Guli -

Yeah, I had this image of Tiny Tom watching Brad on Okra, jumping up and down on his sofa and saying, “THAT SHOULD BE ME! THAT SHOULD BE ME!” Then once he calmed down…he got online and found the transcript at Okra’s website, studied it and voila! Instant family stories to spin for the media. There’s even another quote where he’s talking about having more kids…like the world really needs more kiddie robots…

BTW - TC does mention Connor & Isabella. Only he calls them “…the kids…” No names…just “the kids”. It reminded me of Jon Voight, pre-twins, on the rare occasions he’d remember Shiloh isn’t an only child, “Shiloh…and the OTHER kids…”

Guli: #193

Yes, so sad when you are not ‘the real goods’ like B&A. It is amazing when you know Tiny Tom and Brad live in the A-List world together, yet they seem to have zip in common. Never friends. Brad never stops yammering about his kids, not just his bio kids. For Tom everything is a photo op.

I don’t get the feeling from NK either………she gushes about Sunday but no mention of her ‘family’…….it makes you realize how seamless Brad and Angie’s family is. They don’t subjegate the adopted kids to trot out the bios.

I think Tiny Tom and JA would be highly compatible……always milking the public image through ‘apery’ …they are simply not originals.

The public is able to separate the wheat from the chaff……..ergo Brangelina toasts TomKat.

I know..and after his last humiliation, I don’t know how he can recover from another complete flop. What was the movie with Robert Redford and M. Streep..how did he manage to ruin that one..for crying out loud just for the three big names it should have made some decent money and critical acclaim. JMHO..people just don’t want to see his movies…

PT– #195

You know you are right when he talks about them he never mentions their names…
Oyyy I just caught the part about “Kate is an artist on many levels, so there’s lots of fun things and lots of arts and crafts projects. “ I guess that is in response to Angie mentionning how artistic Brad is re W pics and his photography ROTFLMAO
The picture you drew probably is very close to the truth ..Tiny Tom watching Okra and going ‘damn why didn’t I say things like that when I had Okra here’

D. Kay–I heard NK just once mention that the kids help her out with Sunday. But you are absolutely right..the way NK and TC talk about their older kids are soooo different than JP’s do. The Jp’s love for ALL of their kids is so apparent and honest and genuine. I’m not saying NK and TC don’t love them, but they SEEM (since I don’t know) to take more pride in their bio. kids.

Besane -

I think Valkyrie was greenlit BEFORE the couch jumping. From what I read the script was supposed to be solid and it’s more of a thriller than the title makes it sound. After Tiny Tom’s samurai flick made money they had reason to think him as a renegade Nazi trying to bring down Hitler would fly, too.

The real question is - after the, for him, mediocre returns of MI:3…and the couch jumping…and over a year of people ridiculing Tiny Tom left, right and center…why wasn’t financing pulled?

I would like to know the back story about Angie getting Salt and TC out……no wonder he is watching them……….he is likely Team Aniston….for his own reasons of course and none of them admirable.

ROTFLMAO…

MK on Tiny Tom pimping Suri out…note the difference between what Brad & Angie say about the ratzi to what the king of all media wh#res says…

Suri Cruise is like a walking The Ivy restaurant: paparazzi swarm her whenever she leaves the house. Soon you’re going to see international supermodel Phoebe Price and Prince Von A-Hole hanging around Suri just so they can get their pose on for the paps. And Tommy Girl loves, loves, loves it! He told Grazia Magazine (via Post Chronicle), “I have to say some of those paparazzi shots of my daughter are incredible. As a parent you protect your children but Suri is a very open and warm child and she will just wave to people on the street. She is such happy, fun girl.”

****, he’s gross. I bet every morning, he holds PR meetings with Suri and they strategize what she’s going to wear and how she’s going to act. He probably talks to her like she’s an adult and gives her a PowerPoint presentation on her image. He ******* knows that she’s the only thing that’s keeping him relevant.

Tommy pursed his lips, crossed his legs, flipped his hair and went on to say, “It is certainly different these days with the media, but people have very good to us and do give us space so I am not going to be difficult.” Of course, he’s not going to be difficult. He’s probably tipping their asses off!

Although, I must say that these pictures of Suri with a cupcake made my body grow ovaries.

Jennifer Aniston Says NO
Jennifer Aniston has reportedly turned down John Mayer’s marriage proposal.

The former ‘Friends’ star – who recently rekindled her relationship with
‘Gravity’ singer John after a brief split earlier this year – is said to
have declined John’s offer because she doesn’t want to damage their
relationship.

A source said: “Jennifer said no when John asked her. She told John that
everything is so perfect between them right now, they shouldn’t ruin the
focus of their relationship.

“A wedding would be so stressful and Jennifer just wants to enjoy this
phase, falling madly in love and getting a thrill if the other one texts
when they are apart.”

However, despite being taken aback by Jennifer’s refusal, John is determined
not to let her decision affect their romance, and still thinks they have
what it takes to go the distance.

The source added to Look magazine: “John told Jennifer she is the girl for
him and he is sure of it. He is willing to do anything she wants as long as
they are together. He is like a different guy.

“John was over the moon when Jennifer took him back last month and he never
wants them to be apart again. He really wants to settle down with her. He
wants children, marriage - the whole thing at some point.”

This story makes no sense considering last month all of the “sources close to Jen” were saying she was dying to get married.
I guess they are trying to make her look less desperate.. which will never happen until Jen stops talking about Brad/Angelina in every interview and/or refuses to answer questions about them.

she could do sooooo much better than him.
i hope to god when they are having sex he doesn’t make the same faces he makes on stage. it would hard to get off with that looming over you in bed LOL!

Changeling - Review

Review by Jack Foley

product

IndieLondon Rating: 5 out of 5
CLINT Eastwood has mastered the art of creating the sombre masterpiece. His best work as a director – from Unforgiven through Mystic River and including Million Dollar Baby – is rooted in sorrow and moral complexity.

Changeling, his latest that’s based on a remarkable true story, repeats the trick to equally impressive effect, unfolding on a scale that’s both epic and intimate… inspiring and yet heartbreakingly sad.

On March 10, 1928, single mother Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) returns home from work to find that her son, Walter, is missing. Months later, the LAPD – led by Captain JJ Jones (Jeffrey Donovan) – “find” her son and return him to her.

But Collins does not believe the child is Walter and points this out, only to find herself institutionalised to spare the LAPD any more embarrassment. As Christine attempts to fight the system with the help of a prominent Reverend (John Malkovich) a new lead to Walter’s whereabouts is found…

Eastwood’s film functions on many levels and excels at every one. First and foremost, it’s the tale of a mother’s struggle and of an individual’s ability to triumph against overwhelming odds and never give up hope.

Christine Collins refused to be beaten by the system and her struggle eventually brought down an administration and orchestrated a change in the law. Angelina Jolie invests her with a near-perfect blend of elegance and defiance, deftly balancing the distress of her plight as both mother and victim with a growing sense of determination. She deserves an Oscar nomination at the very least.

But Eastwood also takes the film to some unexpected places, exploring both political corruption and mass murder along the way. In doing so, his film is as probing and hard-hitting as it is sensitive and unbearably poignant.

His attention to period detail is another plus, as are the performances of a uniformly excellent support cast, from Donovan’s slimy police captain to Michael Kelly’s inquisitive detective whose perseverence eventually takes the story into still darker territory.

Eastwood has described Changeling as a companion piece to his Oscar-winning Mystic River and it’s true that many of the themes are very similar. Both films offer powerful, though-provoking cinema – even though Changeling‘s tale is arguably more chilling because of its basis in truth.

It’s a must-see movie that merely confirms Eastwood’s reputation as one of the modern greats.

For this thanksgiving weekend, see Changling

Save December 25, see The Curious case of Benjamin Button

THE BEST OF BRAD PITT

By Kim Morgon

When “Inside the Actor’s Studio” host James Lipton requested the thespian insight of Brad Pitt, the actor declined. Why? Though Lipton has featured the likes of Jennifer Lopez on his smarmy chat fest, Pitt’s reason was modest: He said he didn’t have a “sufficient body of work” to account for the appearance.

Oh, but we beg to differ. The sandy-haired hunk has been one of cinema’s biggest stars for nearly 15 years. He’s an actor who, in spite of his almost obnoxiously pouty good looks and occasional lapses in judgment (”Meet Joe Black,” “Seven Years in Tibet”), has weathered his worst critics by taking chances. And though the media are obsessed with his every move (a relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow, marriage to and separation from Jennifer Aniston, and his ceaselessly chronicled relationship with Angelina Jolie, now complete with six children), he’s been smart to never oversaturate himself. Not by choice, anyway. He keeps a relatively tight lid on his personal and professional life, and lets his work speak for itself.

The upcoming Coen brothers comedy “Burn After Reading,” in which he plays a dopey exercise instructor, is no exception to his risk-taking. And we can’t wait to see his comedic chops up against the likes of George Clooney (in their fourth screen collaboration), Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and John Malkovich. And his performance in the eagerly anticipated “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is already receiving Oscar buzz, both for director David Fincher and his ultimate muse, Pitt. So, small body of work or not, we’re sorry, Brad - we’re officially giving you your own top 10 list, detailing your greatest performances. It’s a list that will, for sure, expand through time, and one that should prove to detractors once and for all that Brad Pitt is not just a pretty face.

10. ‘Thelma & Louise
Though Pitt had appeared in pictures before director Ridley Scott’s beloved female-bonding road movie, his entrance was so star-making you could literally feel the audience’s hot-and-bothered awe. In some cases, gasps could be heard by female popcorn munchers. Clad in good-ol’-boy Levis, a T-shirt and cowboy hat, his devilishly charming scoundrel seduced Geena Davis’ smitten Thelma in one of those steamy sex scenes that make husbands uncomfortable. No viewer cared that his character eventually steals Thelma’s money - the camera loved him. His James Dean-like good looks and agreeable, naturalistic demeanor were absolutely effortless. Though Pitt had struggled for some time before this splash (as an extra, doing commercials and a soap opera role), the collective thought was, “Where did this guy come from?” And you just know former casting agents everywhere - the ones who second-guessed his big-screen appeal - openly wept.

9. ‘Kalifornia’ (1993)
Pitt had played a role slightly similar (abusive, druggy pimp) and with the same co-star (Juliette Lewis) in the made-for-TV movie “Too Young to Die,” but in “Kalifornia,” he upped the anger ante to serial killer. Unkempt, bearded and smarter than he looked, Pitt’s sociopathic Early Grayce was an unsparing portrait of violent lawlessness. Scary but still sexy, Pitt’s performance was simultaneously gritty and sickly seductive, which is the very reason David Duchovny’s character was fascinated by him. And it’s an intriguing, ballsy follow-up to Pitt’s family-friendly “A River Runs Through It.”

8. ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ (2004)
Yes, “Ocean’s Eleven” was a better movie. But that was George Clooney’s film. “Ocean’s Twelve” belongs to Brad Pitt. Though he is engulfed by the combined high-wattage superstar ensemble of Clooney, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Elliott Gould Bernie Mac and Don Cheadle, Pitt manages to make the crime sequel his (starting with the initial, hilarious cameo scene by Topher Grace). Reprising his role as Rusty Ryan, the well-dressed crook/Danny Ocean team member, Pitt is beautiful, affable, charming and clever without being cute. It’s a terrifically unpretentious performance in a glossy, designer suit of a movie but one in which you never doubt Pitt is a movie star. Director Steven Soderbergh amusingly plays with one reason why we go to movies - eye candy - and then allows the candy (Pitt) to be immensely likable and intelligent in the process. It really is tough to be that attractive and that congenial, but Pitt has the knack.

7. ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ (2005)
How do you get through this picture without bringing up the dreaded “Brangelina” moniker, the supposed nonaffair (but, please, we’re all adults here) that gave Liz Taylor and Richard Burton’s “Cleopatra” frolic a run for their money? Well, you can’t. Even if whatever was really happening between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt once director Doug Liman called “cut!,” it doesn’t much matter; it’s all there on screen: the chemistry, the sexiness and the wit. A violent but at times hilarious and smart satire on the eventual boredom of married, suburban life, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” delivers the goods, with big guns, big lips, big set pieces and big stars. It’s a movie star movie, and for those of us who enjoy our gods and goddesses larger-than-life, it lets us revel in the glamour while dissecting, with unexpected twists and turns, scenes from a marriage. As husband-and-wife assassins who wake up to discover they are their next hits, the Smiths’ typical greeting of “Hi, honey! I’m home!” takes on a whole new dark double meaning, largely thanks to Pitt. A star who can poke fun at his image, he did something that doesn’t happen very often: He made Angelina funny.

6. ‘True Romance’ (1993)
You’re on your way to becoming the biggest movie star in the world and what is the next role you choose? Lead in wacky romantic comedy? Starring role in important period piece? Headliner of an action-adventure thriller? No, no and no. How about a hippie pothead who tokes from a honey-bear bong? Probably against his agent’s advice, Pitt decided on Floyd in “True Romance,” a barely articulate stoner who was in a mere few scenes. He could have been a simply funny afterthought to Christian Slater’s protagonist. And yet, if you ask any Pitt fan to list their favorite Pitt performances, Floyd will invariably be mentioned as a peak moment. Showing his comedic chops, Pitt creates an understated yet hilarious dude stuck in the middle of drug dealers and mobsters who is comical and endearing. If an Academy Award for best supporting, supporting, supporting actor existed, Pitt would have won.

5. ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford’ (2007)
There’s so much about this gorgeously shot, thoughtful, wonderfully acted movie that was ignored, misunderstood and badly buzzed, that anyone who loves it feels absolutely perplexed. What were critics and audiences not seeing? Or, given many of the complaints concerning the picture’s running length (just past 2 1/2 hours), what is wrong with viewers’ attention spans these days? Who knows? In any case, director Andrew Dominik (who crafted the masterful “Chopper”) gave Brad Pitt one of his greatest roles as the iconic, moody outlaw Jesse James. Sure, Mr. Pitt’s a little older than young Jesse, but never mind - the man suits the tabloid-attracting, charismatic and, by all accounts, good-looking western anti-hero beautifully. One completely understands why Casey Affleck (in a career-defining performance) as the legendary backstabber (or shooter) Robert Ford works as both agent of death and love-struck groupie - an almost Valerie Solanas to James’ Andy Warhol. Though Pitt, one of the biggest stars of our time, more than likely had to dig deep into James’ bouts of psychopathology (or return to his role in “Kalifornia”), he surely related to much of the picture’s message concerning celebrity: It’s toxic and weirdly sublime

4. ‘12 Monkeys’ (1995)
Pitt turned down a lead in the critically lauded audience hit “Apollo 13″ to appear in Terry Gilliam’s demented, bizarre vision of sci-fi dystopia times 10. In a brave, purposefully over-the-top performance, Pitt played the seriously wacked-out fanatic Jeffrey Goines, an insane-asylum inmate who also happens to be the head of a radical animal-activist group who may or may not have something to do with the virus that has destroyed 99 percent of humanity. Got that? Pitt’s wild-eyed, fast-talking and perpetually twitching performance garnered him a Golden Globe and his only Oscar nomination to date.

3. ‘Seven’ (1995)
Director David Fincher was the best thing to happen to Brad Pitt, who, even with a past Oscar nomination, was still fighting his stereotype as a simple pretty-boy lead. In “Seven,” Fincher worked the movie star to perfection, understanding the actor’s strengths and weaknesses and infusing them into a hot-headed character who’s not as smart or cool as he thinks he is. As a cocky, newbie homicide detective, Pitt worked wonderfully opposite a somber and darkly reflective Morgan Freeman as the two track down Kevin Spacey’s famed “Seven Deadly Sins” serial killer. Pitt had never shown such range. When he’s turned into an ire-filled mess by the film’s head-in-a-box finale, it’s both heartbreaking and morbidly bleak.

2. ‘Snatch’ (2000)
After botching accents in films like “The Devil’s Own” and “Seven Years in Tibet,” a game Pitt would finally get one right in Guy Ritchie’s flashy crime caper “Snatch.” More interesting, however, is that the accent was his own creation and, hilariously, something barely anyone - even the characters in the film - could understand. As a rough, grubby gypsy boxer set up as a ringer by two promoters, Pitt looked the part, but his Cockney, whatever-the-heck vocal stylings were the topper, resulting in a movie that would be dull without him. Pitt was able to swipe a movie from that great scene-stealer Benicio Del Toro, confirming that his unusual performance was the correct move. Now that we think about it, we’d have loved to hear him explain that one to James Lipton.

1. ‘Fight Club’ (1999)
The greatest role in Pitt’s career and one, if the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had any guts, that should have earned him at least a nomination. But “Fight Club” was too scary and likely too downright subversive for the Academy or the masses. A “Clockwork Orange” for the new millennium, the film cast Pitt as Tyler Durden, the transgressive, prankster alter-ego of Edward Norton’s splintered psyche and head of Fight Club, a movement for disgruntled men to violently get back at society. The film re-teamed Pitt with “Seven” director David Fincher, who understands how to be subversive within the Hollywood system. Fincher consequently took the ideal hunk of Pitt, all grunged-out and glamorous, and turned him into something seditious and satirical. And Pitt got it. Dangerous, cruel, sexy and smart, he proved the perfect figment of Norton’s frustrated, IKEA-obsessed and ultimately insane imagination. Fincher’s casting of Pitt was smart on many levels. By using Pitt’s star persona as a comment on how most guys can only dream of envisioning themselves, he deconstructed how we watch and feel about movie icons. So when Tyler yelled at his Fight Club recruits that they would never be movie stars, the scene worked as both a hard truth and a delicious satire. Absolute genius.

I think Tiny Tom and JA would be highly compatible……always milking the public image through ‘apery’ …they are simply not originals.

++++++++++++++++++

I’ve advocated a Tiny Tom/X pairing for years - since the breakup. As soon as I heard Tiny Tom was auditioning for his next wife, I immediately thought of X. Had she been 8 years younger she might have gotten a call. I only say “might” because Tiny Tom would probably balk at taking up with Brad’s leavings…whereas every man X has dated since sees that as a plus. “Hmmm…she bagged Brad Pitt, so she MUST be good in the sack…” Whereas Tiny Tom would think, “If she wasn’t good enough for an actor who’s beneath my level of stardom, then she’s not good enough for me.”

Tiny Tom…or Jon Voight…although as far as mediahoes go…The Urinator is right up there with those two…

+++++++++++++++

ITA. I think they probably came to her and not the other way around. Although I’m sure the media will eventually claim that Angie lobbied for the role. Angie said what she usually does is call Geyer and tell him what she’s interested in doing and if she’s looking for an action role, then ask what scripts he’s gotten for her and he gives her the scripts he thinks she’ll be interested in. But…by the time the movie comes out the tabs will be claiming that Angie forced Tiny Tom out of the movie and MADE the studio hire her. Cuz ya know…everything’s Angie’s fault…

bdj @ 11/26/2008 at 8:02 am

Although like every other film with supporters and detractors, “Benjamin Button” is such an impressive and groudbreaking cinematic achievement that it seems to have genuinely earned its frontrunner status and looks like a cinch for at least 10 nominations, including for Cate Blanchett and Taraji P. Henson among the actors.Brad Pitt’s haunting performance is low key and all in his eyes. He’s great, but will it be too subtle for the actors’ branch? Hope not.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

 So does this mean, Not only the movie will bomb but there won’t be any nomination for Pitt , No GG, No SAG, No CCA, No oscar nomination?

Everyone including Cate and Taraji and director and producer and cinematographer and photographer and musicion and… will get nominated but Pitt won’t? ROTFLMAO

OMG This is so funny. Loon*es will lose their sh*ts. No award seasons and no nomination for Jolie and Pitt. Therefore it means no awards RCs for them.

Oscar Watch: ‘Benjamin Button,’ One Classy Movie, Takes the Lead

If you subscribe to the theory that the film with the most potential Oscar nominations is the frontrunner, which I usually do, then “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” which I saw last night at MOMA, is the clear-cut leader for Best Picture. There are 10 or more possible nods here, including Best Actor for Brad Pitt and Best Actress for Cate Blanchett. Director David Fincher and screenwriter Eric Roth’s very free and very long (167 minutes) adaptation of a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a sweeping, decades-spanning romantic fantasy that I got totally caught up in. I just couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Aided by some astounding digital effects, Pitt — or in some cases actors on whom Pitt’s face, appropriately aged or de-aged, was digitally pasted — plays a man who is born in 1919 New Orleans, looking like an 85-year-old and ages backwards to infancy (it’s actually most creepy to see Pitt as a teenager). Benjamin meets Daisy (mostly Blanchett), the great love of his life, when he is chronologically seven years old — about the same as her — but appears to be in his late ’70s. They drift tantalizingly in and out of each others’ lives except for a period in the early ’60s when both are in physical sync, but tragically they can never grow old together. I was skeptical about the premise going in, but this four-hankie movie totally won me over, even though too much time is devoted to flash-forwards of Blanchett’s dying aged character telling Benjamin’s story during Hurricane Katrina, not to mention another framing story around that one. There are, as noted previously, some resemblances to Roth’s Best Picture Winner “Forrest Gump” in the movie’s challenged, basically passive main character and his globe-trotting adventures. But Fincher has held Roth’s tendency to schmaltz in check far more than Robert Zemeckis ever did and added more visual grace notes than can be absorbed in a single viewing. This is a really classy, old-school movie movie at heart. It will be interesting to see if the public at large, particularly the under-25 crowd, connects with this challenging idea for a very expensive-looking flick, a love story very much obsessed with physical decay and death. Domestic distributor Paramount (Warners has foreign) is planning to open “Benjamin Button” wide on Christmas Day, but I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they announced a limited opening in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, December 19, to take advantage of early critical enthusiasm. It’s already locked up a spot on this professional cynic’s 10 Best List.

Good afternoon to all BAMPZSKV fans. I hope everyone is having a great day preparing for turkey day tomorrow. Well since I am a vegetarian there will be no turkey for me.

Just a little to guli, Passing Through, African girl, irma, embo, Neleh, where have you been? I thought you had run off with the new boyfriend. Missouri Fan, I am so sorry about your father and will include him in my prayers. But it is good to hear from you. Hi to vickiefromtexas, long time no read. Hi to angel, bdj, thanks for the articles. QQQQ, thelookoflove1365, LLM, Besane, senior and Alexandria. If I forgot anyone it was not intentional.

PT that US weakly comparsion between Angie and x was hilarious. X could never look sexy. She has only two expressions for pete’s sake and both are ugly. Look at JJ”s front page the stills from HJNITY. Her face looks so mean and frozen. That is the same look on the cover of Vouge. It is the same look in all of her pictures. Plus her eyes are cold, and remote. The VF cover is her best picture ever. MHO

In that Esquire cover her chin looks a mile long, compared to Angie who looks like sex personified. X doesn’t have any sex appeal. She isn’t a warm person and she doesn’t project confidence which is what being sexy requires. Warmth, confidence, freedom of spirit, the able to project onself.

Angie sitting on a stick fully clothed projects more sex appeal than x fully naked. No wonder Brad lost his frucking mind and chased her azz around the world. And keeps getting her pregnant. Because every time he looks at her he thinks about sex. And he is trying to make up for all of the years he didn’t think about it.

Okay gotta go. BWBBL. Peace

I hope that Brad’s new movie does better than the Changeling did. The golden couple will lose their mojo if they keep acting in box office flops.

In that case, Whiny X lost her mojo 6 films ago, including the dog movie and “He is not into your Whiny ass”. Meanwhile, AJ is the billion dollar babe and both BP and AJ are getting critical acclaim. You do the math.

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has described the difficulties she had during the filming of her latest flick Changeling.

Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film is set in Los Angeles in 1928 and follows the plight of Christine Collins - a woman trying to track down her kidnapped son.
“When I first read the script, I couldn’t put it down. And then I said no immediately” - Angelina Jolie

The mother of six said she found the film, which is based on a true story, very emotional.

“When I first read the script, I couldn’t put it down. And then I said no immediately. I didn’t want to go near this project because it was too upsetting,” she said.

“But then I couldn’t stop talking about her. I found myself sitting with people and wanting them to know about this extraordinary woman.

“As a mom, it was horrible. I had my kids as much as possible at lunch and after doing a day at work I’d run home. I wanted to be silly, it was so emotional I found myself being goofy at home.”

Jolie is magnificent as the mother in total despair. Her portrayal of an emotionally distraught parent desperate for answers shows that Christine’s timid side cannot be exploited by the police force when it comes to the safety of her child.

Rather than backing down, she stands up to the corrupt officials and sees that justice is served on the LAPD.

Only friendships made along the way in this tale of turmoil aid her in proving she was set up and that her son is still out there.

Changeling

Jolie is a performer of seemingly untapped depths
Kevin Maher

What is Clint Eastwood on? How does a director who’s easing into his 80s, and was once known as a sharp-shooting movie cliché, simply get better with every film? Changeling, like Letters from Iwo Jima before it, is a mature, thoughtful and sometimes brutal movie that casts a cold eye on the past while sending shivers through the present. Child abuse and child killing are subjects here, yet they’re seen through the prism of a bizarre real-life police corruption scandal from 1928 Los Angeles.

Meticulously researched by the former journalist J. Michael Straczynski, who lifted 90 per cent of the movie’s dialogue from court records, it tells the story of a single suburban mom called Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) whose son Walter (Gattlin Griffith) was kidnapped from her LA home.

After months of fruitless searching, a young boy surfaced, claiming to be Walter. The Los Angeles Police Department, sniffing a media coup, publicly returned the boy to Collins and then, when she rejected this ersatz tyke (played with blank menace by Devon Conti), immediately became hostile, threatening her and finally removing her to LA County Hospital’s draconian psychiatric ward. Meanwhile the fate of the real Walter was slowly unfolding in the child-killing horror of the so-called Wineville Chicken Coop Murders.

The hook here is that Eastwood plays it all by the book. There are no artificial character arcs or comfortable resolutions. This is strictly reportage made flesh, and as such it has the beguiling rhythms of real life that, for once, don’t fit neatly into a three-act studio structure. Instead, the film ends after 141 minutes, just because it has to, and not because it should. It’s to Eastwood’s credit as a storyteller that he leaves the pot unsweetened.

Changeling, nonetheless, is a two-hander. For the director is crucially aided and abetted in excellence by Jolie, a performer of seemingly untapped depths who for too long has been happy to sell herself as a pout on legs. Here, the bee-stung lips are still centre frame, but the leering amour propre is gone, replaced by a ravaged emptiness punctuated by moments of fleeting, and then duly dashed, hope.

It’s hardly surprising that, in one of the movie’s final sequences, Jolie is shown listening intently to the 1935 Academy Awards ceremony on the wireless. It’s surely a scene setter for the 2009 Oscars, and a reminder to voters that, in case they hadn’t noticed, they’ve just seen the year’s first sure thing.

Changeling
5 Stars

It is rare to come across a movie which is as beautifully directed, powerfully acted and utterly moving as Clint Eastwood’s Changeling. Not simply another Hollywood blockbuster, it is a breath of fresh air at the cinema.

Screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski masterfully adapts this true-crime story, bringing to life the shocking events which occurred in Los Angeles in 1928 when Walter, the nine-year-old son of Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie), a switch-board operator, goes missing. The LAPD are less than helpful. However after five months they bring Christine, along with the press, to the train station to be reunited with a boy who they claim to be her son.

One problem: this boy is not Walter. Yet instead of the police admitting their mistake, they persuade Christine to take the child home on a ‘trial basis’. Obviously experiencing emotional imbalance at such a time, she must simply be mistaken. Why would the boy call her ‘mother’ if she was anyone else? Sure he may have shrunk two inches and be a little more circumcised than she remembers, but all these changes are perfectly viable, the LAPD doctor assures; he has been missing for five months.

The audience chuckle with incredulity at the ‘professional’ assertions of the doctor, yet any laughter has a somewhat bitter aftertaste when aligned with Jolie’s entirely convincing and heart-rending portrayal of Christine’s helplessness. We watch as she transforms her terror into a relentless personal crusade, exposing the corruption of those in power. The star-studded cast give consistently excellent performances, especially Jolie, whose skill as an actress is really given credit in this non-action-movie role. Apart from one disappointingly cheesy ending line, it is no wonder that Changeling has been nominated for the Golden Palm award for best movie of the year.

The Buzz on ‘Benjamin Button’

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

For months now, movie buffs have been anxiously awaiting the release of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, the upcoming Brad Pitt film based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald story. The movie tells the tale of a man who ages backwards, a concept that in itself seems like it would make for a pretty intriguing film. Toss in that it was directed by David Fincher, who has brought us such hits as “Fight Club,” “Zodiac”, and Se7en”, and it seems like it has all the ingredients of a hit…but does it deliver?

All signs point to yes, as reviews of the film have begun to pour in. According to Reuters, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ in which a man ages backward, does not begin to suggest the urgent drama and romantic fatalism that director David Fincher and writers Eric Roth and Robin Swicord have so strikingly brought to the screen in the movie version.”

And it looks like not only Fincher and the writers have something to be proud of, but Brad Pitt does as well. Writes Reuters, “Superbly made and winningly acted by Brad Pitt in his most impressive outing to date, this Paramount/Warner Bros. co-production should connect with a large audience. Strong box-office should ensue after its Christmas Day release via Paramount.”

It’s been a good year for Brad Pitt, who was also everyone’s favorite part of the quiet Cohen Brother’s latest comedy, “Burn After Reading.” Also, he became the father of the world’s most important twin babies. Let’s not forget that.

The L.A Times had a slightly darker take on the film. While not denying its merits, the film sounds like it may be a bit of a downer, especially considering its slated to be released Christmas Day. Writes the “L.A Time”, “Fincher has made a movie that will be endlessly debated, for its storytelling craft as well as for the overwhelming nature of its visual effects. But there’s no getting around the fact that the prevailing mood in ‘Benjamin Button’ is one of melancholy, either because it’s the tone that best fits Fincher’s gifts or because it’s the tone that best suits the film’s solitary hero–while we’re all trudging forward, his body’s clock is spinning in the wrong direction.”

We’ll take the risk of having to wipe a few tears out of our eyes, and stifle a few sighs. We’re much too curious to not check out, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

Paramount, whose production costs totaled roughly $150 million, is pitching “Button” as an event movie. Brad Pitt, its star, did his turn on Oprah, will attend a splashy opening in New Orleans (where much of the film is set) and seems to be doing more promotion than the press-shy actor usually participates in. The irony is that Pitt is rarely Pitt in the film itself — he is a decrepit old Pitt who becomes over time a young Pitt, but is rarely the “movie star” Pitt.

Jolie attends American Academy lecture
Published: 26 Nov 08 09:04 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.de/society/20081126-15743.html

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has attended a scholarly lecture at the American Academy in Berlin, daily Die Welt reported on Wednesday.

Jolie, currently living in Germany’s capital city with her family while partner Brad Pitt films at Babelsberg studios, was spotted taking notes and listening intently at the lecture on Russian-American relations on Monday night, the paper said.

The star was without security, but accompanied by her assistant and Lloyd Phillips, the executive producer for the Quentin Tarantino film “Inglorius ********” that Pitt is currently filming in the city.

The lecture, “Russia and the West - A Way Forward,” was given by Georgetown University head of the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies, Angela Stent.

The actress seemed relaxed and smiled often during the question and answer session of the lecture, Die Welt reported.

And what, the paper asks, does one wear to such an event? Because, as the paper said, “a little sex must be,” Jolie wore knee-high black boots, along with a black skirt and a black turtleneck that gave off an “academic affect.”

Jolie and Pitt arrived in September with plans to stay for about three months at a Wannsee villa called Palais Parkschloss - in the same area as the American Academy - according to reports in the German media.

The Academy Award winner is known to be politically active, and serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency.

“Inglorious ********” began filming in October and stars Brad Pitt, Mike Myers, Diane Kruger, Til Schweiger and Daniel Brühl.

The supposed script of “Inglorious ********” was leaked in mid-August and published on the internet. If the script is genuine, the film will feature Pitt as the leader of a band of American-Jewish soldiers sent behind enemy line during World War II to murder as many Nazis as they can in horrific ways.

Alienation of Affection and North Carolina Law

Alienation of Affection is a legal action (a tort) based on willful and malicious interference with marriage relations by a third party. In a divorce matter, Alienation of Affection actions are often brought along with Criminal Conversations actions.

For a plaintiff spouse to recover for Alienation of Affection, the following elements are required:

the parties to the marriage were happily married and genuine love and affection existed between them;

such love and affection was alienated and destroyed; and

the wrongful and malicious acts of the defendant brought about the loss and alienation of such love and affection.

The exclusive right of sexual intercourse is not the right protected in this type of case. The actual affection between spouses is the right protected. In fact, in-laws and religious organizations have been defendants in Alienation of Affection suits.

North Carolina juries have handed out big awards in Alienation of Affection cases. In 2001, a Greensboro jury awarded $2 million to the Plaintiff. Another jury awarded $1.2 million in 1997 in a Forsyth County case. Other awards include $1 million to an Alamance County woman,

You know it’s been 5 years almost since Brad & the X divorced. Didn’t you read what X said in her latest interview.. that the divorced is amicable. MEANING no outside party was the reason being given for the divorced now STFU and go back to FF or Dlisted. And FYI Brad said that the marriage iwas just a “merger” so that law does not apply and Brad was not happy with X .. coz after only a year being married to X .. he was seeing a shrink.

LOL about X only having 2 expressions. That’s actually one more than I’d give her credit for. I always think she looks like she’s sitting on the toilet straining. Which…considering the man she’s dating has a toilet-related fetish makes them all the more compatible…

I really don’t know Besane, I don’t think Crazy Tom was really thinking before he decided to do this movie. Maybe he thinks he can pull it off and get an oscar, and if that is what he thoughts, then he is wrong, cause he is not going to get an oscar nom for this piece of sh*t. He took a good story and spoiled it. I saw the preview and he suppose to have a German accent but he is talking all American english in that movie lol. So what are you saying, you silly twit — Fugly should move to NC and sue Angie for alienation of affection?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you something, honey — if meeting Angie could destroy Brad Pitt’s marriage to Fugly — then his marriage wasn’t worth Jack shít to begin with.

Actually, I thought that would be great if x did move to NC and sue Angelina for alienation of affection. Then all the sh*t would come out about the therapy, the months of separation, the different goals in life, the fake pregnancy test, the lies about the golden couple…

But of course, x will never do that. How then can she claim 2% responsibility for her marriage break up?

UGH! I can’t stand this guy’s “acting” . I really hate ow Hollywod works sometimes. Just because some blind fat woman used to think brad Pitt was pretty he made it this far on little acting talent. Now that he’s losing his “good Looks” ( i never liked his fake plastic looks) Hollywood is still picking him over real talent to headline their movies. when will real talent be recognized over what middle america considers a pretty face.

why does he have so many woman drooling over his giant nose, close set eyes, monkey structured face? What has he done of importance before he met Angelina and they started the MIR project? would he be doing that work or living a life of giving if it wasn’t for her ? I don’t think so.

OH Stuff it @ 11/27/2008 at 12:53 am

As for Tiny Tom copying Brad? PFFT yeah right. it’s not like Pitt doesn’t copy Angelina. so Tom is probably copying Angelina. .. after all she’s the one he’s competing with in the action genre .

Brad Pitt As ‘Gollum’ Meets Redford
How do you make an instant classic? Can you replicate “Forrest Gump” or at least the feel of it? Will a great trailer ignite enough Oscar buzz to overcome a merely good film’s realities?

These are the questions posed by “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” which I saw yesterday afternoon and comes out on Christmas Day. David Fincher, known for movies like “Seven” and “Fight Club,” –each also starring Brad Pitt— was given the task of making a lump-in-your throat, cry like a baby film with Pitt as a man who ages backwards. Since people rarely well up during a Fincher movie for sentimental reasons they put “Forrest Gump” screenwriter Eric Roth on the project as protection.

Cate Blanchett co-stars, and the whole thing is supposedly based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Alas, this movie has about as much to do with the Fitzgerald story as Bela Lugosi would with “Twilight.” Except for the central conceit that Benjamin ages backwards, everything else is gone in this three hour epic. You can read the whole original story right here.

“Benjamin Button” is a lot of things: innovative, creative, technologically advanced. The trailer was so good that Oscar buzz started generating quickly. The result was almost like what happened to “Home for Purim” in the satire, “For Your Consideration.” Overnight, “Button” became the Oscar front runner.

Actually seeing it is a different story. Fincher has a lot of gadgets to play with. So Pitt’s early depiction of Benjamin, which takes up more than hour of the total three—that’s three—is a CGI process. Pitt’s head – made into that of an old man—is situated on a short, old man. The result is a synthetic character—a sort of geriatric Jar Jar Binks—matted into the movie.

But how else to do this? Benjamin is born a grotesquely wrinkled looking baby, but soon is about five-foot-five and an old man. “I’m seven years old,” he says at one birthday party. But he’s in his late 80s. You marvel at that Fincher and friends have accomplished this feat. Pitt’s head is a white haired balding orb set on top of a little person who is growing older by the hour. He’s Gollum from “Lord of the Rings” meeting Robert Redford, with a better wardrobe.

Strangely enough, there’s something very endearing about Pitt in this part of the movie. Setting aside the fact that he’s playing a CGI character, Pitt nearly succeeds in transcending the gimmick. He brings an unexpected pathos to Benjamin’s early life as he’s raised in a nursing home and watches the patients die off as he gets younger. (Almost what saves Pitt now as an actor is playing characters where his abnormal good looks aren’t a hindrance. See “Burn After Reading,” where’s he just great.)

But is it acting? Or is it a trick? The question maybe is sharpened because at the same time, thanks to Roth’s remaking of the Fitzgerald story. Fincher keeps cutting to modern times and the gifted Cate Blanchett lying in a hospital bed. Blanchett’s character is Benjamin Button’s former lover, who didn’t care that he suffered from this mysterious malady. She’s wearing the prosthetic makeup of old age too, but nothing about her has been digitized. She’s simply playing an old woman in the throes of death, and it’s very human.

All of this aging and de-aging is, by the way, set in New Orleans. Fitzgerald, for what it’s worth, had Benjamin raised by his father (the mother dies in childbirth) in Baltimore. In the movie, Benjamin is born in New Orleans. The mother dies, the father is so repulsed by a wizened looking baby that he throws him away and a local black girl (the terrific Taraji P. Henson) finds and raises him. The juxtaposed modern story is set against the imminent arrival of Hurricane Katrina. Why? Is it a metaphor? Or just because Brad Pitt is committed in real life to the rebuilding of New Orleans?

What’s easy about praising “Benjamin Button” – which will be a holiday hit, no doubt, and an awards contender— is all the technical stuff. It sure looks great, all the time. The make up department has done a bang up job. The production, the set, the lighting and costumes are all phenomenal. Two editors—Kirk Baxter and Angus Wall—have given the movie a dreamy feel that’s just right, and Alexandre Desplat’s score underpins the action with precision. There are also lovely supporting performances by Tilda Swinton, as Benjamin’s first love and Phyllis Somerville, as a tenant in the house where Benjamin grows up, as well as a very funny running gag about a man who keeps getting hit by lightning.

Just a literary note: Blanchett’s character, also invented by Roth, is named Daisy, I guess, as a wholly unnecessary nod to Fitzgerald’s most famous heroi

Good to see Angelina is doing her thaaaaaaang! go girl. can’t wait for her NOT to be stuck with Pitt.

She’s giving up Acting because she doesn’t realize her full potential as an actress. So many people love Pitt and Hate her but I WILL BE HONEST when I say I would rather watch her act than him act. BLAH!

Benjamin Button looks like it belongs on the fcin Hallmark channel.

I wonder how much CAA paid the critics to be nice. anyone who as watched Meet Joe black and Troy knows what a ****** actor pitt is when he’s in the lead. I don’t see how he could actually be good unless he’s not in it much or he’s acting like the character from Burn after reading. really! I wish the critics and the media would be a little more honest when it comes to Pitt and his “acting”.

HELLO! How many times does Swanni the HDTV guy have to tell us that BRAD HAS NO LIFE IN HIS EYES in HDTV. If the acting is in his eyes… the critics must have received millions to give a decent review. This guy is already making excuses has to why brad’s acting might get panned or why he won’t receive an OScar nod… oh , his acting is to subtle. bwahahaha GMAB!

Lylians, blah, bl;ah, blah. Go ahead and diss me because I have an HONEST opinion about Brad Pitt and his little acting ability. If he paid me I would praise him … because that’s what it would take… MONEY!

I’m here because I love Cate, but I just could not bite my tongue about my distaste for Brad Pitt. the dislike stems from the media’s ass kissing because he’s supposed to be some “god like” man , but he shows nothing special of out of the ordinary for some mid western dude. He’s absolutely no where near as special as the media makes him out to be. I don’t think so, man. I will never kiss his ass unless he paid me.

IB’s producer was with Angie At AAL, But Brad Pitt WASN’T?? hmmmmm

Are you aware of this new BI in CDAN about an A-list actress who has affair with one producer? It says her own movie’s producer , But it might be the Husband’s movie’s producer. Is Lloyd Phillips married or is he going through divorce? Anybody knows?

It’s so WEIRD that Angie attended this thing with one of IB’s producer , But not with Pitt. hmmm VERY WEIRD.

Did you ALSO know Angie and KIDS have left Berlin on Tuesday?! They are now in Ethiopia. The article i read , Clearly told Jolie and her kids. Not any mention of Pitt. more hmmmm

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

QQ U are one sick soul are u in your normal sense, why is it that you don’t have any good things to say, what will it profit you to see family with little kids breakup, why is it that your life is full of bad wish on a family that have nothing to do with yours, why is it that on thanksgiving holiday all your thought is to see the family breakup, are u out of your mind?
Well i believe if you are happy with your family and yourself, you will not spend everyday writing bad comment, but what you wrote spoke great volume of who you are.

i wish that God will make you to realise yourself before is too late.

Because normal human being will not spend his or her life on a blind item and to wish worst for others

Enough of your craziness. sicko !

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! To all the American J-P fans on JJ. Hope y’all have a great day.

To the moron QQ at post #317: You were prolly one of the jenhag idiots who were salivating at the thought of Angie going to her Changeling premiere in London all by her little self and without her hunky Bradley at her side. Then y’all had to swallow real hard when the truth was revealed and you learned, ONCE MORE, that Brad is fiercely protecive of his woman and his kids and will ALWAYS be by Angie’s side.

So when the Ethiopia pix come out and you see the entire J-P clan doing Thanksgiving together in ZZ’s country of origin, i sincerely hope you will swallow the crow in your throat and love it!

Go on pretending that you didnt learn FROM BRAD’S MOUTH when he was on Oprah, that the family will be in Ethiopia for Thanksgiving. (as if your werent glued to the Tv watching Brad on Oprah and lapping up his every word, LOL

BTW how’s that turkey working for ya?

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it.

Just a heads up… TBS will air a show about the best movie comedies of ‘08; Brad, as Chad, shaking his groove thing in Linda Linske’s kitchenette, was prominently displayed in the commercial. So likely, unless someone is pulling a bait and switch, Burn After Reading made the list.

It airs this Saturday at 10 pm EST on TBS.

Can´t wait for this movie. I´m gonna see it immediately when it opens here in my home country Finland some timre early January ´09. Also gonna see Changeling which opens here quite soon after TCCOBB. I´ll be somewhat disappointed if neither Brad or Angie don´t get Oscar nominations. But they have more important things in their lives than geting nominations or winning awards:their lovely children. They are the greatest gifts they´ve ever gotten!

Love you Brad, Love Angie too!

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Jolie-Pitts fans that celebrate Thanksgivings

Does anyone else find the fact that Variety called brad \” the usually press shy actor\” slightly odd and misleading? since when is he press shy? was he press shy when he went on NATIONAL television to cry about wanting children, when he gave all those interviews about his failing marriage \”marriage isn\’t forever\” crap,is he press shy when he pimps the kids out for the papz, takes intimate pix of the mother of his kids to promote his \”hobby\”? really now?

Angelina is the media manipulator while the child pimper is press shy? GMAFB and call that \”basterd\” out for using the mother of his children as a scapegoat.

This was not the first time he went to Mighty Oprah for help selling one of his overpriced, overrated, poorly acted movies. So don\’t even try to portray him as Press shy. what a fdjhsjadj joke.

Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US. My prays to those in India and to everyone else have a wonderful day.

Just catching up. Thanks to all for video, links and articles. Love that the kids know how to use chop sticks.

Are you bipolar?

or are you really just a misandrist?

In one post youre bashing that sick little puppy QQ for revelling in the thought of a loving family of six little kids and their parents breaking up, via the stuuupid lies and rumour-mongering about Brad and Angie.

Then in the very next post youre bashing Brad, ridiculing the fact that he is described as “press shy.”

You show your complete IGNORANCE about Brad Pitt if you think that a description of him as being ‘press shy’ is inaccurate. While he makes no bones about the fact that he loathes the media blitzy part of the biz he’s in, it doesnt prevent him from doing HIS JOB of promoting his business interests when his projects demand that he does.

How the fcuk do you think successful business people market their business?

We know you have the hots for Angie (take a number / join the queue) but she is no longer the teenager/early20Something young woman full of angst, who was the darling of little wannabe goths such as yourself.

She is now a mature, sophisticated, cosmopolitan woman of the world; devoted, loving mother; devoted loving partner to Brad Pitt.

She will never have the faintest clue that you exist, you little worm.
