guli, I am well. The weather sucks big time though. It is gray, no sun, maybe rain and a little chilly. I wanted to go to a movie. Though Changeling again, but didn’t feel like driving a long way. There is a neighborhood theater not to far from and they have Bond playing. It is just a crazy very low energy day. Peace

Yup… JV was Reese’s father in the movie.

Come to think of it, Reese did the majority of the press for the movie. Vince did two magazines, I think, but the rest was all about Reese. Mercifully, we didn’t have to endure JV’s usual ‘updates’ about whether he met ‘the twins’ yet, since, seemingly, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh are irrelevant to JV.

Yes… the telecast needs the JPs, but naturally, shortening the show would also help too. The montage of the past best pictures seems unnecessary; maybe they need to show the montage every five years. Also, cut down on the other unnecessary montages like past winners getting their Oscars or ‘great Oscar moments’ or speciality acts like Cirque de Soliel and those people who molded themselves into a visual image of the nominated movies. Or video of ‘everyday people’ talking about their favorite movies.

Keeping the Memoriam montage seems necessary; substituting the unnecessary montages with a montage of every film released this year, with the best pics being the focal point would be fine with me.

Also, maybe ABC needs to stop trying to compete with the Super Bowl, in terms of advertisement dollars. If there wasn’t a need to sell ad time, then the Oscars wouldn’t have to be 3 1/2 hours long.

And find a good host!

Hey PT I need to ask you something. Okay Angie doesn’t have a public relations person, right? She has a lawyer and a manager. Brad fired his pr person that Cindy Person, right? So Brad has an agent at CCA and a manager?

My question is, why does Brad still need an agent? People come to him with scripts an movie offers don’t they? Didn’t Quentin T come to him with the script for IB? What about TOL? BAR? You would think as big as he is now he would not need one. Especially since Angie doesn’t have one. Okay that’s the question. Thanks Peace

You have to remember - Angie’s the exception to the norm. Frankly most actors/singers, etc., have agents to cut deals for them (salary), not just get them scripts. In Brad’s case he’s also got Plan B to consider in addition to his career. He can get Bryan Lourd to cut deals with writers, outside producers, directors, etc., for the projects for his production company, too. I think one of the main reasons Brad keeps his agent is so he doesn’t have to deal with all the scripts and offers - and especially the studios - himself. I’m sure Brad gets twice the number of scripts Angie gets - simply because there’s more movies with male leads than women.

QT went to France to see Brad, but I’m sure it was set up by Bryan Lourd. QT didn’t just call Brad and say, “Hey Brad, QT here…I gotta script for ya!” No. He called his agent…his agent called Bryan Lourd…Bryan Lourd called Brad…Brad said, “I’m not looking for anything, but tell QT if he wants me to do it he’s got to come to France and make a pitch and if I’m interested I’ll check with Angie…Oh yeah, and you need to keep those ass-hole Weinstein Brothers in check or forget about me signing on…and that goes for those two-timing backstabbing bas-tards at Universal, too!”

Did you read that USA Today article on Brad and David Fincher? Brad said FINCHER comes straight to him because he doesn’t like dealing with agents. Fincher is a personal friend. QT ain’t. And QT needs a hit movie more than Brad does…QT went through proper channels…

I also think Geyer, even though he’s technically Angie’s manager, does a lot of stuff that an agent and PR ho would normally do. I’m sure Angie pays him more than most celebs pay their managers.

BTW - if you believe Lamey, she said Brad had a PR ho at TIFF. I’m inclined to think it was someone from Focus Features (the distributor of BAR).

Bryan Lourd is co-owner of CAA. He and Kevin Huvane are partners at CAA. Brad’s agent used to be Kevin Huvane…until he dumped X. As you may know the Huvane family are butt buddies with X - Stephen is her PR ho, Kevin is her agent…and they got the 3rd brother, Chris, who’s the editor of GQ, to make X their first “Woman of the Year”. All btich did in 2005 is get dumped…and GQ made her their very first woman of the year? N-E-P-O-T-I-S-M. Bryan Lourd was afraid Brad was going to jump ship so he took over as Brad’s agent. I’m sure Kevin Huvane would have much rather kept Brad - probably told him there’d be no conflict of interest since he handled them both before Brad was dumb enough to marry X…but Brad ain’t stupid. He knew anything he told Kevin Huvane would find it’s way back to X. KH blew it. 10% of what Brad makes is a heluva lot more than the 10% of NOTHING that X had coming in for over 2 years….unless you count those Friends residuals…

Personally…I’d rather they skip the Newsweek Oscar Roundtable. Because both times they’ve done it - THEY DIDN’T GET NOMINATED! Frankly the Oscar telecast and ABC need them more than they need the noms.
