Wow… just wow… the fact that she’s a former stripper just blows me away, and then to see pictures that are quite frankly worthy of some porno mag is disturbing. I lost a bit of my respect for this guy, not his accomplishments, for my god that was a feat of epic magnitude, but of his character and his choices. She might be the sweetest person on earth but it doesn’t change the fact that she presents herself this way. its just wrong. There is tastefully done nudity, and then there’s just being a… for lack of a better word… ****.

I hope he realizes that she is probably only using him for his money, and I don’t think there are many out here that wouldn’t. He’s not that attractive, let’s be honest, but I find that his drive and his ambition is more appealing than a pretty face can ever be. And it helps that I’m an artist and I like interesting faces >> and his is ‘different’.

And, I agree, he seems to be emotionally if not slightly mentally stunted. He needs to take a small break from swimming and experience life a little. You only have so much time to live while your young.

I thought Michael presented a fairly ideal “good guy” face to the nation based on his Olympic interviews, until I heard about a speaking engagement he had in my hometown. Those who attended the event were extremely disappointed, and some were even enraged. He was evidently very arrogant and even hateful toward the people in the audience (none of whom he knew) in the speech he made. He hasn’t won any friends here, and I doubt he will be asked to return.

As for the “girlfriend” he chose, I don’t expect any 23-year-old male to make an intelligent choice, but I’m glad I’m not in his mother’s shoes, attempting to be polite to a woman who has appeared in tacky published photos. This is not the type of woman you’d want your son to associate with.

As for his endorsements, I imagine there will be questions raised and he will perhaps lose some of them. If so, this is a lesson he needs to learn.

Perhaps this is a phase with Michael. Let’s hope he matures as he grows older, and gets a healthy dose of humility while he’s at it.
