OlderRosie O’Donnell’s Variety Show Canceled!
Rosie O’Donnell tried to revive the variety show format with Rosie Live! this Wednesday. Apparently the show flopped, with only 5 million tuning in to watch the NBC special.
Rosie, 46, blogged, “There will b no more. No ratings. Bad reviews. Yet still – a thrill 4 me… If the bloggers didnt like it, I knew it didn’t work.”
The reason for the cancellation was” “Not enough rehearsal. The live part wasn’t a plus. The in-theater experience didn’t transfer to TV. It was a pilot, meaning u try it [and] see if it works. Then if they pick it up, u fix it.”
But variety shows aren’t dead! In good spirits, Rosie says, “Many people r gonna try a variety show. One will work. Ellen tonight. The Osbournes have one. John Mayer. Check them out.”

She started the fights with ALL she still blames. I cant remember one person on TV who has fought with SO many of their “co-workers”. When Rosie started her Variety show I thought “what a copy cat”.. she doesn’t have an original idea in her head.
She comes out of mothballs to do a Variety show.
Not a bad idea but what does she turn it into?
A gay-affirmation thing, a show of how she hates her own body, a chance to be a butch cop… and all this on what was supposed to be a FAMILY show..FUN.. entertainment. HA!
She lives off the fans on her blog when they aren’t what the majority of America now think of her.
When she DUG up the long-forgotten opinions about the View she asked for Barbara Walters to finally publicly NOT support her.
BW will be on Oprah to state so this week.
I watched the Variety show on Wed to TRY to give her a chance to bring back a once successful genre. And there she was, insecure, a lesbian who played the fool with Baldwin talking into her breasts.. getting a hernia trying to carry her. Did she think of becoming Bi or what?
She messed up her image when she turned so BUTCH-acting with her marriage to Kelly. They are raising 4 children who will have a hard time facing the realities of Life after having all they ever wanted from the get-go.
I am always the first one to turn the other cheek with a person because we are all afterall flawed and make out mistakes through Life.
BUT since she still chooses to make personal attacks on other public persons I have given up on her. She is RUDE, crude and obsessed with always being RIGHT.
Rosie is a self-destructive, LOST Soul who has the rest of her Life now to just go on her gay cruises, post pictures and words on her web site and maybe.. just Maybe.. one day she will take responsibility for causing her OWN downfall.
I would never watch anything that twisted individual worked on. To disrespect the 911 survivors the way she has - she deserves to be shunned forever. She’s a miserable woman who enjoys trying to make others miserable along with her. So long, Rosie. Go fall in a deep hole, will ya?!?
Well, I tuned in and the show (of which I did not watch the whole thing) was SO theatrical and corny that I turned it off. Oh and what is with Liza, she was SO shaky and hyper…..drugs? lack of drugs?
I figured it would flop but thought I’d give it a shot. Well, I did and was definitely not impressed. Just too over the top in the acting(?).
Way too theatrical!
Come on now…………I hated the show, don’t like Rosie for all the right reasons. BUT…..her sexual preference does NOT have anything to do with the contents of a failed show. Her lesbianism did not come out in her performance (which was hideous).
My husband would disagree with me, as many of you do, but that is only right…………it just doesn’t matter!
The variety show format can survive, but Rosie didn’t have a chance. People liked her when she had a daytime talk show because she was pretending to be someone she wasn’t, and people believed it. During “The View” and since then, people have learned what her true self is, and they didn’t like her. Then she tried this variety show and pretended to be that likable person again, but people didn’t buy it. The show was a flop because people don’t like Rosie any more. Now the public knows who she really is and what her true personality is, and she is probably done in entertainment. I do hope that a good variety show comes along - I’d love to see that format revivied.

Finally, I hope she gets the message that America is sick of her. Also, I think it is sad that she believes the show’s failure is unattributable to her. Every negative action, unsolicited self-righteous comment, & overall bad attitude has finally caught up with her and now it has effected her career. Her famous persona has rapidly transitioned into infamous status and it is well deserved. Continually, with the state of the world and many people losing their homes, jobs, and sadly lives, noone is in no mood to deal with her in any form…tv, blogs, interviews, etc…. We are sick of YOU!!!!! You she go on hiatus from the “business” , take care of your family, and reflect on your life and how you managed to get this low point.

First of all; yes, Rosie did alienate a lot of people for her attacks on various people. That’s called “controversy” folks, and what is journalism without controversy?
Second of all, Rosie did state that her new show was all about love and not controversy so why not give her a chance.
You folks try dealing with being a lesbian in the limelight here in Homophobic America. It’s not easy, but most straights don’t get this.
Anyway, the show would have been much better if Rosie had done more comedy sketches showing off more of her talent. I can’t believe NBC is not giving it a chance.

Wow! I’ve never seen such a bunch of critical and hate-filled individuals. You’re all displaying exactly what you hate about her. True, Rosie has had more than a few “bad days” but where is it written that every celebrity has to be Little Miss Sweetie? If it was a guy, this conversation wouldn’t even be happening. I’m not sure whether it would if she were straight, either. I forgot all about the show, and only happened to catch the last 10 minutes but I did enjoy what I saw. Still, I don’t know if the format is something that can be done today. I also think that one reason it failed is that it really wasn’t given much advertising, at least not that I saw, or maybe the ads targeted the wrong time slots so those of us who might have watched it weren’t even aware it was going to be on. Just a thought.

The old variety shows had big name talent. Every five minutes
you were watching something that was more than just barely
entertaining. Perhaps they should have called it something else.
I admit I only watched 30 minutes.
Cancel her all the way back to hell for her vicious attacks. She is a no talent, ugly, load mouthed, obnoxious, whining, self serving, verministic swine hog that should be rode hard and put away wet by every Bull **** who wants a shot at her flabby backside. I happen to like Tom Selleck.

The Show was awesome and it suck that it didn’t work. Thank God Rosie stood up to Elizabeth on the View..was so tired of hearing her dumb right wong comments. Rosie loves kids, so I hope someday she can have a show that does that.

This is not about Rosie’s weight, the fact that she is a lesbian. This is about her behavior and thinking that her opinion about any given subject is all that matters. Demeaning and insulting people because they don’t have the same political or religious affiliations as she does and insulting Barbara Walters who happens to be an Icon in television and new history is deplorable. She deserves what she gets and it has all been brought on by her own actions. Humility goes along way Rosie.
