Zac Efron is Richard Samuels Sexy
Zac Efron peeks out from behind a curtain in this new movie still for his upcoming drama, Me and Orson Welles.
Synopsis: The story of a whirlwind week in 1937 NYC when young aspiring actor Richard Samuels (Efron) is thrown into the middle of Orson Welles’ Mercury Theatre Company on the eve of the opening of Welles’ historic staging of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. During this week, Richard will find romance with a worldly older woman (Sonja Jones, played by Claire Danes), become immersed in a creative experience few are afforded, and learn the downside of crossing the imperious, brilliant Welles (Christian McKay). Richard is about to grow up fast.

This movie is going to awesome! Zac is amazing and will be brilliant as Richard! Love him!
The producers are capitalizing on Zac’s popularity and fan base to see the movie or at least to give it a second look. But it will be Mackay’s protrayal of Orson Welles, the directing and all the supporting casts’ acting, that will carry this movie and give it a decent ranking or money at the theatres.
Like me (at least the matured fans), I am hopeful that you will enjoy this period piece film. Can’t wait to see to see it again here in Canada !
This is an interesting movie, glad he was a part of it. However I will lose all respect for Zac if he agrees to do hairspray 2.
#81, i think a lot of people will lose respect for zac if does hairspray 2. he has moved so far ahead of that, especially after doing maow. why would he even remotely consider doing hs2?
btw, john travolta is not doing the hairspray sequel. smart dude.

I really think that Zac and Vanessa makes a great cute couple and hope the best for both. I was initial a Zanessa fan and still is but I honestly can say that I’m more of a Vanessa fan now. I will always support her with or without Zac.
OMG has her listed as #11 as most searched celebrity of 2008… not bad.

After MAOW and 17 Again, I am sure Zac will get more offers outside of the musicale genre. More along the lines of drama and/or comedy where is the lead star. In HS, Link is not the lead star or story; it is more like Tracy’s family story. At this point of his career, he doesn’t HS sequels anymore. And he will move on with the showing of his other films specially MAOW.
I agree, Tiptoe, that Hairspray is Tracy’s story. Honestly, they could do HS2 without Link’s character, but it definitely would NOT have the box office draw without Zac. As much as I don’t want to see Zac do HS2, I think they’ll move heaven and earth to get him to sign on. It’s all about the $$$$ for them, even thought I don’t think professionally, it would be the best move for Zac.
But Zac is a very smart guy, and I’m sure he’ll make very wise decisions as he goes along. We just have to respect him, and know that he has thought about each move long and hard. I think we’re all excited about what’s ahead for him!

I’ve supported him from summerland and I respect his choices with his career. But hairspray 2 is more than just a career choice Sorry but after nikki’s behavior, the lies she spreads to her fans about them together, her disrespect for zac & his personal life, plus all her delusional hateful fans that are acting prematurely happy just based on a few articles. If Zac willingly works with her and does all the promotions and all that…as a matter of principle I will be disappointed. I do know in life sometimes you just have to work with certain people anyway..I would like to be a big enough fan to support him but I feel like my opinion would change if he does do it. I really hope it doesn’t but it probably will.
Though Zac has said nothing about doing it. Just other co stars. In only 1 interview(paris) he said it’s just an idea at this point, oh it’d be fun because he obviously had to. Otherwise he even said to access Hollywood afterwards that he wants a break from musicals. John Travolta is smart in not coming back, Zac should follow but like go sox said they’re going to try super hard for Zac to be a part of it.

story is really about Zac’s character Richard Samuels . I think
Zac will do a wonderful job.
i can not wait for this film to get a distributor and hit theaters. i’ve read the book and its a really great story, and i think a great way for zac to showcase his talent…………
as for HS2, most of what has been said, i agree with. i don’t want him to do it b/c i think he really needs to get away from the musical genre. (as a matter of fact i’m still skeptical about footloose).
i’m sure zac and his team will make the decision they feel is best for him. my biggest fear, and one i believe will become a reality, is that HS2 will be a total flop. nearly everywhere you turn the reaction to the concept is negative.
not only does the plot line sound extremely weak, but when the “suits” decide to get a sequel made, any shred of artistic integrity is gonna go right out the window b/c their only concern is making money.
in the end its zac’s choice which projects chooses to take on. i do think however, that if he does decide to do hs2, he will have much more clout, and bargaining power (much like hsm2 and 3) than he had last time around, meaning he won’t be roped into committing to such a long shooting schedule or the ridiculous amount of promo’s that the film required. there was a reason you didn’t see anyone else doing all those promos besides he and nikki, everyone else in the cast had enough star power to just say no!.
hopefully if he does do hs2 he will have learned from some of his past mistakes and that the film becomes another success on his growing resume.
its still a very long way from being a done deal though. so we’ll all just have to wait and see.

i agree bettybaby. Zac now has the clout and bargaining power than when he did HS 2 years ago. Look at Footloose - he has script approval. And I also understand that in 17 Again, he and the director chose carefully the actress who will play “his daughter”. At this point, he can pretty much choose who he wants to work with, and how he wants the storyline in the movie to go along. I understand too that he was the last star to sign on for HSM3 because he wanted to read the script. So many options for Zac now…. it is really up to him to decide on the best course.
Mr. Efron is back from visiting his family in San Luis Obispo. He was with Vanessa yesterday and last night.
