Miranda Kerr Flirts With The Flagship
Miranda Kerr celebrates the grand opening of Victoria’s Secret new Lexington Avenue flagship store in New York City on Tuesday.
“My mom didn’t mind seeing me up there in my underwear ,” Kerr recently said of her modeling. “I am 25 and it’s all very lovely and like a costume. It’s beautiful and romantic … it’s not like standing up there in my everyday underwear. It’s a theatrical show and everyone is there to have a good time.”
Despite the rumors, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are not engaged, Orlando’s rep told JustJared.com on Sunday.

Miranda has been modeling for 12 years and comparing how she looks now to a few years ago, her looks are fading and her career prospects with it. She’s not the next big thing- designers don’t want her, cosmetics and perfume companies don’t want her, magazines don’t want her, she’s a catalog model. The only time that she is “all over New York” is when she’s calling in the paps to take pictures of her, otherwise she’s just another wannabe doing nothing but catalog in a city full of successful models and actresses who are on the covers, in the ads and in the commercials. The companies she models for hardly use her, she only appears in the VS catalogs while their other models are appearing in the big campaigns and David Jones only uses her in catalogs and gave Megan Gale a new contract and uses her all the store publicity because Miranda has been a complete failure for them. Stop making a fool of yourself by claiming that anyone who doesn’t like Miranda is jealous, because by that measure the entire fashion and cosmetics industries must be jealous too and that’s just not the case.

Exactly what Bloom needs right now? So, the need is mutual and the relationship or arrangement is mutually beneficial. Both know what they want and what they’re doing and what they’re getting. That at least makes some sense. Neither one of them is a victim of anything or anyone, and they’re both consenting adults. They know how PR and publicity works. Her pet rag (or perhaps former pet rag now) came out with her Victoria Secrets salary not long ago and it was quoted at $250,000 a year for three years. That is not a lot of money for someone who has to make as much money as they can before they expire in their career.
I think the David Jones salary was quoted many times as 6 figures for 5 years. If it was near a million they would have bragged about that so it’s much closer to a half which would be around $100,000 a year.
That may seem like a lot to some people but it isn’t much in the world of modeling.
It’s also interesting that Jennifer Hawkins is well known to make 1Mil. a year for Myer store so Miranda is making significantly less then her.
That deal was made even before they put Megan Gale back in so even when MK was considered for the top stop they weren’t going to pay her much at all in comparison.
As for the forbes article, other models have since said it was a bunch of trash and they were not making the amounts stated there. However Miranda and her people, who have a rep for stretching the truth a lot, keep going back to that as some sort of proof.

And I don’t know why you girls always say that Meagan was “put back in”. She was never ‘out’. Meagan was made the “Brand Ambassador”, when Miranda took over as the “Fashion Ambassador”. This was stated numerous times, before Miranda even went to the first events in Australia in March or April. actually, I don’t think she is all that pretty but I am willing to say that if she seemed to have a nicer character she might be better looking. Portmans is a younger crowd and she started that before her looks were fading. She was okay as a young clean fresh looking girl. She was never a stunner or amazing beauty but an attractive young girl (especially with the help of photoshop). It was never a “omg she is so pretty she is the next Audrey Hepburn” but more just of a fresh face that could be a clothes hanger.

And I actually think that there is a difference between a fan clicking on her posts, and a “hater” doing the same. Compare it with an ice cream shop, if you will. I like ice cream, so I would visit a favorite shop as often as my waistline would allow. If I didn’t like ice cream, I wouldn’t go into the shop every day to complain that they were still selling ice cream even though I told them to stop, and claim that anyone who liked ice cream was not thinking rationally. I’d question the validity and truth of any published reports if numerous already published reports from that particlular ice cream company had for example contained content that say in reality amounted to little more than copycat versions of other ice cream companies ideas, experiences, philosophies, recipes, and histories.
There could be other reasons some people might be choosing to pay close attention to what is being said and claimed by that ice cream company representatives as truth. Liking or disliking, loving or hating, the taste and flavour of generic icecream could be completely irrelevent.
I’d also think that choosing to hang around a coffee shop instead wouldn’t prove to be effective nor helpful in resolving those sorts of issues.
The questions I’d be pondering over any food for thought partaken in is whose truth might be behind any claims in the first place and who else might have the right to claim such statements as their own utterings?

Well, there is the article from the previous owner calling the ice cream shop owner a @#&*!. I guess that might be heresay (or pure truth), but it was printed in a legitimate highly read local paper so I guess the ice cream shop owners should take up issue with the paper, not the readers.
Then, there is the other previous owners best buddy pretty much making the same claims on his myspace page, and some emails that floated around. Could also be hearsay (or pure truth), but again, issue with the writer of the words, not the readers.

I have several cameras from different makers. They all download in order from first to last and record the date on the camera in the timestamp. I’ve used different photo software programs and they’ve all processed the downloads this same way. The information on my photo accounts displays the the photo information attached from the camera. Not saying that yours can’t be downloading backwards, but my experience is the opposite.

Miranda shot down the engagement rumor before Orlando so I don’t know why all the chat on this one issue.

All the chat is because Miranda started another engagement rumor in her hometown newspaper after she denied the first rumor. The Sunday Telegraph “exclusively revealed” the new rumor, “The revelation comes only weeks after the Brisbane-born beauty denied any wedding plans.”

Hope springs eternal for some, #312. Interesting concept that someone whom he’s never met loves him. How can you love someone without ever having met that person? How can you love someone without ever having gotten to know that person? You can have an instant chemistry with someone, but actually loving someone requires much more. I guess people meet online these days and can click together and fall in love. But other than that, it seems unlikely. I think it’s possible to feel a connection with someone, even from a distance, but I wouldn’t call that love. If this someone loves what he *presented* himself to be, or what his pr team or publicity people put out there, or was drawn to Bloom’s *image,* then he or she may end up very disappointed in the reality that may be Orlando Bloom. If he or she is out there, he or she may have moved on and may not be waiting. You seem to *assume* the choice is *his* and his alone to make, but relationships, no matter what their nature or what gender base, require at least TWO parties to agree, to consent, to compromise, to share, to communicate, to give, to be honest and to make sacrifices. Successful relationships also require self awareness, especially if they are to last. Living a lie, lying to oneself and others, or concealing the truth for selfish reasons or personal gain will eventually backfire. I hope Orlando understands these things. I do wish him peace and inner fulfillment, but I sense he is a very, very lost soul right now. The following are great posts IMO by Fro-Fro, and I appreciate her efforts to express herself by focusing on *issues* rather than personal attacks. I have read all the posts in this thread to see what people were saying. These paragraphs really stood out for me. Quoting Fro-Fro as follows, but changing the gender to male, the occupation to actor, and the person to Orlando, we arrive at what some would say is a reflection of Orlando Bloom today, and it reflects an image/pr/publicity house he spent years building on weak and shifting sand:

Those who have followed Bloom’s career almost since the first LOTR film may have gradually observed how his image often conflicted with his actions, his stated words often contradicted his public conduct, his refusal to take a stand and issue timely statements often contributed to infighting amongst his fans and the fans of his actress and model girlfriends, and his stated desire for keeping his private life private often ran counter to the choices he repeatedly made in regard to his girlfriends over the years. Keeping my personal views as stated here in mind, I’d like to suggest that Orlando Bloom is the metaphorical equivalent of “said ice cream shop” in the following paragraph. Quoting Fro-Fro again:

When that ice cream shop is very popular and has a great deal of money invested in it, not to mention powerful pr strings behind it, and possibly a few things it wishes to keep from the public, attempting to expose it for being less than what it pretends to be can have dire consequences. If Orlando’s ’soul mate’ has observed any of this or shares any of these opinions, it would be interesting to know what the basis of his or her love for Bloom would be. An actress or a model with greed and career ambition will gladly look the other way and ignore Bloom’s character flaws or insensitive ungallant treatment of women over the years, but a soul mate who attempts to see the truth and to see him for who and what he is may hold him accountable for everything he may have done or participated in, including misrepresentation of himself to his fandom as well as a refusal to take a firm stand without any ambiguity. I sadly fear that his ’soul mate,’ whomever he or she may be, should that person enter his life, will look the other way instead of holding him accountable for his actions and choices, and instead of encouraging his personal growth and greater self awareness, he or she will be looking at dollar signs, expensive lodgings, private schools for the children, bragging rights and a means of making use of him.
Sound familiar? Orlando Bloom will have to change in order for his life to change. Period. The people who are drawn to him are drawn to him for a reason, and vice versa. His life is a reflection of who and what he is and what he values. The same applies to ALL of us. It would be a shame if key opportunities have already presented themselves to him, both personal and professional, only to have been passed by because he was too busy, too distracted, too ambitious, too in love with status or celebrity, too arrogant or too insecure. Time waits for no one, including movie stars.

I have been a fan since November 2003 - when I saw Pirates on DVD
Didn’t really pay too much attention to his actions - or what he was like in interviews.
I do like to think that their is good in everyone - even if it takes them a while to find it.
I’m not much of a fan of him or any celebrities anymore -
but I have known people in my life - co-workers - class mates - etc… who to me are no different in their actions and treatment of others.
In fact in Pirates 3 - both in the movie as the character Will Turner - and when he was doing interviews around that time promoting Pirates 2 and Haven - Orlando reminded me so much of this one guy I had known before and had believed with all my heart and soul was my soul mate -
Orlando did not seem very appealing to me - as all the female and maybe male guests of the talk shows seem to think he was.
Even though I do not know Orlando personally - He actually scared me really bad - because I had forgotten how much pain that the guy I knew before had caused me - emotionally
The guy I knew before helped contribute to the panic disorder I was already on medication for.
I wish that someone whom Orlando trusts and knows would put a mirror up in front of him and show him the image he has been projecting to others lately.
I feel that maybe it might help him to see things a bit more clearly - I hope.

Been an amusing 328+ posts. Definitely more amusing than the couple themselves. They’ve been deplorably predictable lately. You peeps, however, have taken a ride to the far side and back. twelve years of modeling and the biggest gig she has had is VS, and they use her far less than most of the other girls. She lasted for Maybelline and Clinque for less than a year, no major designers at all, just a department store in OZ that most people have never heard from. She had her chances and even with a celebrity actor she couldn’t get better, She is so, on her way out. Her career is on it’s downward slide into oblivion, and she is going with it,.
Less than a year with both Clinque and Mabyeline? Wow that pretty much sums it all up then doesn’t it? Miranda and her people are good at selling her as this nice sweet county girl but then once you get to know her she is anything but that and usually leaves behind a lot of enemies. Anyone who says that she isn’t a successful model is wearing blinders. You have the right to say that she isn’t AS successful as some of the other girls, but you could say the same thing about Doutzen. She isn’t as successful as Adriana. Adriana isn’t as successful as Heidi, heidi isn’t as successful as Gisele. Gisele isn’t as successful as Kate. etc. etc.

Clinique doesn’t market their products using “Faces”. Not like Lauder or Lancome or Arden or L’Oreal , etc. etc. Never have, never will. Their focus is on the product and not on a celebrity face hired to hype an image and/or be a spokesmodel for their brand. She was hired, as a generic non-Face model(nothing to be ashamed of), for a perfume ad over a year ago; Clinique has chosen to use it again for promoting their perfume during the prime holiday shopping season. The #1 time for scent buying the whole year btw. Clinique owns the pictures and this recycling of promotional material is not unusual for Clinique, but in no way makes her a “Face” for their brand.
No one said she didn’t have any success. People are commenting on the usual bullcrap and spin put out there by her, her pr and her family. She has had moderate success as an average catalog model.
She is second or third tier for VS and underwear store that also sells some clothes in the under fifty dollar range. Not high fashion at all.
She was signed for David Jones but was quickly demoted and they got back negative market research on her. She does not make a large salary from them at all.
Other then that she has worked a little bit here and there, like doing this ad for clinque but nothing that is significant. It is an ad. She is not the face of clinque but yet the supporters were trying to spin it that way until they were called on it today when it was revealed it was a year old photo being recycled.

That’s not true. There was a big article about Megan being called back in and she agreed to stay on. That was not always the way it was. Miranda was billed as the new face of dj’s and then she took a back seat after just one show. Besides that there was very negative market research results on her likeability and even writers in sydney were saying she just didn’t have what it takes to carry it on her own.

@Destiny is a choice - thanks for the compliments on my posts (I dont get many lol) but I have to disagree somewhat with inserting Orlando’s name in the same context. I do agree that he has changed to some degree from the person we were introduced to 8 years ago, but I dont think that fame (and famewhoring) have been or always were his ambition. Kerr on the otherhand has displayed that type of hypocritical behavior since people started uttering her name wondering who it was that Bloom was being seen around with. I do agree however that who we surround ourselves with is a reflection of who we are (or might be and cant face). I think the same can be said for famers and non-famers alike.
For the person trying to defend Kerr’s career and behavior since post 328 on, yes she is fairly sucessful as a model, that is clear if you look at how many models or aspiring models are out there seeing as most end up doing “dial a girlfriend” commercials, nudie mags, or some Vegas style schlip of some kind. She is in the top percentiles if you look at it that way, but heres the point that is being overlooked from the other angle. Since being spotted with Bloom in March of 2007, she spent the first 9 or so months of that, and her family as well, making comments about her sucess levels that were lies. Kerr does not command millions, as her mom stated. She just doesnt. The work she does is not a reflection of that. The girls that command millions are the girls you know by first name only. You know who they are, and what they do. Miranda has some sucess under her belt, but she and her family have lied and puffed that success up thinking people are stupid and will just buy it. Their was certain disclaimer type wording used in that Forbes article that proves where those puffed up numbers came from, and then to top it off with whipped cream, Gisele (the only one with nothing to lose by blowing the thing wide open by spilling the truth) came out with a counter statement wanting to know who was getting all that money that Forbes claimed she was making! LOL! I’d like to place bets that Forbes doesnt include Ms Gisele in their annual puff ball article next year. True, we focus on mocking Miranda, because she focused on mocking Orlando’s fandom right from the start. Some choose to forget things she has said and done on the boards and in interviews from the start. Thats their choice. But, the arguement can be defended from both sides. To me she has proven to be a liar and a cheater, and seems to be VERY hungry for more and more fame, and there’s the conundrum - professing to want simple homey family warm fuzzy things in life, and modeling is not her aspiration for life, just doesnt sell. It just doesnt. She represents the exact opposite, and her image is two-faced. If she just was who she really is, then people would probably tend to respect her more, but she isnt what she tries to sell. Hope that makes sense. I think her trying to sell herself as a good role model for young girls is even more appalling. When he travels for them, he doesn’t bring an entourage of 50, and often tailors the trip in conjunction with work. He has saved them a bunch of money on airfare alone. He flew to Nepal the first time, when he was already in Hong Kong talking to Johnny To. Much cheaper than flying from either LA or London. He flew to Moscow on Land Rover’s dime, and spent time with the kids there. That didn’t cost UNICEF any money at all. The party that he attended while in Moscow was thrown by Land Rover, not UNICEF. A poster on another board had an interesting theory involving the second time he flew to Nepal. They theorized that Orlando had got the buzz-cut because he was filming the prison release scene for FRI, in a building that To wanted to use before they tore it down. I forget where the building was, but it was somewhere in China, so again, a cheap flight for UNICEF.
