Miranda Kerr Flirts With The Flagship
Miranda Kerr celebrates the grand opening of Victoria’s Secret new Lexington Avenue flagship store in New York City on Tuesday.
“My mom didn’t mind seeing me up there in my underwear ,” Kerr recently said of her modeling. “I am 25 and it’s all very lovely and like a costume. It’s beautiful and romantic … it’s not like standing up there in my everyday underwear. It’s a theatrical show and everyone is there to have a good time.”
Despite the rumors, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are not engaged, Orlando’s rep told JustJared.com on Sunday.

The following are great posts IMO by Fro-Fro, and I appreciate her efforts to express herself by focusing on *issues* rather than personal attacks. I have read all the posts in this thread to see what people were saying. These paragraphs really stood out for me. Quoting Fro-Fro as follows, but changing the gender to male, the occupation to actor, and the person to Orlando, we arrive at what some would say is a reflection of Orlando Bloom today, and it reflects an image/pr/publicity house he spent years building on weak and shifting sand:
“Nobody is claiming he isnt sucessful to a degree, because as an actor he has done quite well, but its all the bull shiiit he tries to get people to believe that makes people not like him. WTF is wrong with just stating things as they are? Does he have to lie and cheat to get what he wants in life? Where is the self-respect in that, and moreso, does he really think that kind of behavior is going to earn the respect of the public watching? Thats right….he is a public person. He does interviews, and all sorts of other stuff to get his name out there, so just because some people are analytical enough to question when some things dont add up, does it mean we cant say our thoughts on it when we see others using those same things to dish out the accolades? He puts it out there……he should expect it. If he wanted to be private he would say nothing and not be seen, just like many celebrities are able to do.”
Those who have followed Bloom’s career almost since the first LOTR film may have gradually observed how his image often conflicted with his actions, his stated words often contradicted his public conduct, his refusal to take a stand and issue timely statements often contributed to infighting amongst his fans and the fans of his actress and model girlfriends, and his stated desire for keeping his private life private often ran counter to the choices he repeatedly made in regard to his girlfriends over the years. Keeping my personal views as stated here in mind, I’d like to suggest that Orlando Bloom is the metaphorical equivalent of “said ice cream shop” in the following paragraph. Quoting Fro-Fro again:
“You have a valid point, but lets assume that said ice cream shop was claiming to sell ice cream that was pure, natural, no additives or anything fake, and made you actually lose weight, but in reality, it was a sham. I guess I would feel compelled to then enter said ice cream shop and share the realities with the customers, and tell the owners what I thought. They can refute me because of course they would have something to lose if people exposed them as scam artists and liars. Hell, even some of the customers would call me delusional because they just wouldnt want to accept that their favorite ice cream wasnt all they were sold it was…..”
When that ice cream shop is very popular and has a great deal of money invested in it, not to mention powerful pr strings behind it, and possibly a few things it wishes to keep from the public, attempting to expose it for being less than what it pretends to be can have dire consequences. If Orlando’s ’soul mate’ has observed any of this or shares any of these opinions, it would be interesting to know what the basis of his or her love for Bloom would be. An actress or a model with greed and career ambition will gladly look the other way and ignore Bloom’s character flaws or insensitive ungallant treatment of women over the years, but a soul mate who attempts to see the truth and to see him for who and what he is may hold him accountable for everything he may have done or participated in, including misrepresentation of himself to his fandom as well as a refusal to take a firm stand without any ambiguity. I sadly fear that his ’soul mate,’ whomever he or she may be, should that person enter his life, will look the other way instead of holding him accountable for his actions and choices, and instead of encouraging his personal growth and greater self awareness, he or she will be looking at dollar signs, expensive lodgings, private schools for the children, bragging rights and a means of making use of him.
Sound familiar? Orlando Bloom will have to change in order for his life to change. Period. The people who are drawn to him are drawn to him for a reason, and vice versa. His life is a reflection of who and what he is and what he values. The same applies to ALL of us. It would be a shame if key opportunities have already presented themselves to him, both personal and professional, only to have been passed by because he was too busy, too distracted, too ambitious, too in love with status or celebrity, too arrogant or too insecure. Time waits for no one, including movie stars.

I don’t know what is to happen down the road with Orlando - But I do agree that he does need to start taking responsibility for his actions.
I have been a fan since November 2003 - when I saw Pirates on DVD
Didn’t really pay too much attention to his actions - or what he was like in interviews.
I do like to think that their is good in everyone - even if it takes them a while to find it.
I’m not much of a fan of him or any celebrities anymore -
but I have known people in my life - co-workers - class mates - etc… who to me are no different in their actions and treatment of others.
In fact in Pirates 3 - both in the movie as the character Will Turner - and when he was doing interviews around that time promoting Pirates 2 and Haven - Orlando reminded me so much of this one guy I had known before and had believed with all my heart and soul was my soul mate -
Orlando did not seem very appealing to me - as all the female and maybe male guests of the talk shows seem to think he was.
Even though I do not know Orlando personally - He actually scared me really bad - because I had forgotten how much pain that the guy I knew before had caused me - emotionally
The guy I knew before helped contribute to the panic disorder I was already on medication for.
I wish that someone whom Orlando trusts and knows would put a mirror up in front of him and show him the image he has been projecting to others lately.
I feel that maybe it might help him to see things a bit more clearly - I hope.
difficult to say - but i like to believe in others - until there comes a time to not believe in them.

Been an amusing 328+ posts. Definitely more amusing than the couple themselves. They’ve been deplorably predictable lately. You peeps, however, have taken a ride to the far side and back. Well done all of you. It’s a good thread that reaches this level sarcasm, irony, fantasy and derision. Much more interesting that the usual haterz/shippers crap that usually gets spewed.
twelve years of modeling and the biggest gig she has had is VS, and they use her far less than most of the other girls. She lasted for Maybelline and Clinque for less than a year, no major designers at all, just a department store in OZ that most people have never heard from. She had her chances and even with a celebrity actor she couldn’t get better, She is so, on her way out. Her career is on it’s downward slide into oblivion, and she is going with it,.
Less than a year with both Clinque and Mabyeline? Wow that pretty much sums it all up then doesn’t it? Miranda and her people are good at selling her as this nice sweet county girl but then once you get to know her she is anything but that and usually leaves behind a lot of enemies. It looks like David Jones had the same experience but yet they made the mistake of signing her for five years. At least we know they are only paying her chump change so not too big of a loss.
Bloom is being a jerk all the way around so I’m not going to let him off scott free but I can see where she pitched herself as the sweet county girl to him too and he soon found just how not true that was. Maybe that is why he acts like he can’t stand being around her. The shippers will use the Venice glass shopt pictures to say that isn’t true but everyong else can see (and the timestamps too) that they were redos and he finally acted his role for once.
Wow she is just one sad story. She can’t keep a good modeling gig, she has to lie all the time about her “success”. She has to use a pretend boyfriend to get any press at all and she seems to have no shame about it at all. It’s no wonder she isn’t letting go of this showmance too easily since it’s the only thing she has.

FTR She is still the face of Clinique ‘Happy’. She is in their current ad in all of the mags. Close up of her face, huge smile and funky orange wig. Vey cute. Also, VS is not a big gig for a model. It is a HUUUUGGGGE gig. The VS Angels are some of the highest paid contract models out there. And they use her a tremendous amount. Just check out their preview 09, for their resort wear. She is all over it. Plus, she will be on the cover of their next catalog. Heidi and Adriana are still their top girls, but Miranda, Marisa and Doutzen are ALL being heavily promoted.
Hate all you want, but at least try to get your facts straight.
BS! We know Miranda is not paid big bucks. That myth was proved wrong many times.
VS is not a huge deal in the modeling world AT ALL.
It is not respected in the fashion world or top designers.
Miranda was given the “end of year sale” for VS. lol. The discount crap suits her doesn’t it? I guess they had to put her somewhere if she is still on the payroll.
I have a relative who was the Chariie Girl and the face of the perfume years ago. She is just a normal woman who has a family now. She did some covers and things in her day but now she lives a normal life and is very happy with it. There are very few who become super famous and Miranda Kerr thinks she is going to be one of them but she isn’t. Models are a dime a dozen. She has done just okay and not great. The Charlie Girl was bigger then Miranda in her day and now no one knows her. That’s fine, she isn’t a fameho just a girl who was asked to model so she did. The point is it isn’t a big deal like Miranda tries to make it out to be and you won’t be remembered forever or lofl get a star on the Hollywood Blvd for that.
She takes a few pics -mostly in her undies. This isn’t the idea of great success for most people. I guess for her that is all she has to hang on to though.

Miranda has said over and over that she knows that modelling will not last forever, and that she has other plans for the rest of her life. The belief that she thinks that she is the next big thing is all in the minds of the “haters”. She has never said anything of the kind.

No matter what you want to believe, ALL of the angels make good money. And when you are saying that the “discount crap suits her”, I guess that it also suits Adriana and Heidi, too. It takes more than a single ad in an entire year to make someone “the face” of a product, especially if the company couldn’t even be bothered to call her in for another photoshoot and just used an old pic to save some money. She is “a face” in an ad. Just like she is “a face” for VS, but not “the face” of their lingerie, swimwear, makeup or beauty lines like Adriana, Doutzen, Heidi, Alessandra and Marissa are. Heck, MK wasn’t even invited to the ribbon cutting at the NY store like the rest of the girls were. I bet she was really embarrassed when she showed up in her repeat red dress that night thinking they were all wearing red together, only to find out that she wasn’t invited to the earlier event when everyone wore red.

$250,000 a year for three years is not a lot of money if you need that to be set for life.
After taxes and after a mortage payment she probably has 100,000 a year for three years. She probably spent most of it thinking she was going to hit it big.
If you add the peanuts she gets from David Jones it’s still not enough to be set for life when these are done.
Miranda is not making the millions she claims to. If she was why would she even take the David Jones job to begin with? Maybe it was because she needed a job.

That 250,000 figure was made up by the loons at Delphi. Repeating something over and over doesn’t make it fact. Angels, ALL OF THEM (even Selita) earn millions every year of their contract. She DID hit it big.
Becoming an Angel equals success for a model. If you claim anything else, you are letting your dislike interfere with your reason. Anyone who says that she isn’t a successful model is wearing blinders. You have the right to say that she isn’t AS successful as some of the other girls, but you could say the same thing about Doutzen. She isn’t as successful as Adriana. Adriana isn’t as successful as Heidi, heidi isn’t as successful as Gisele. Gisele isn’t as successful as Kate. etc. etc.

They didn’t make it up either. They were doing their reseach when it ws debated and came back with that from ‘industry insiders’.
No way in hell would she be making millions and then turn around and accept a mere 100,000 a year (tops!) from David Jones.

Clinique doesn’t market their products using “Faces”. Not like Lauder or Lancome or Arden or L’Oreal , etc. etc. Never have, never will. Their focus is on the product and not on a celebrity face hired to hype an image and/or be a spokesmodel for their brand. She was hired, as a generic non-Face model(nothing to be ashamed of), for a perfume ad over a year ago; Clinique has chosen to use it again for promoting their perfume during the prime holiday shopping season. The #1 time for scent buying the whole year btw. Clinique owns the pictures and this recycling of promotional material is not unusual for Clinique, but in no way makes her a “Face” for their brand.
No one said she didn’t have any success. People are commenting on the usual bullcrap and spin put out there by her, her pr and her family. She has had moderate success as an average catalog model.
She is second or third tier for VS and underwear store that also sells some clothes in the under fifty dollar range. Not high fashion at all.
She was signed for David Jones but was quickly demoted and they got back negative market research on her. She does not make a large salary from them at all.
Other then that she has worked a little bit here and there, like doing this ad for clinque but nothing that is significant. It is an ad. She is not the face of clinque but yet the supporters were trying to spin it that way until they were called on it today when it was revealed it was a year old photo being recycled.
Now how can you call it spin to say CPK is The Face of Clinique? Next thing you’ll be telling me is that you’re doubting that her brother is the Head Chef at Denny’s!
Her supporters spin it to make her look like the next Gisele. Her detractors spin it to make her look like she models for wal-Mart. Both sides are wrong.
FTR she was never demoted by David Jones. Meagan was named the Brand Ambassador as soon as she left the runway. Miranda’s position as Fashion Ambassador has not changed.
Come on now we all know how big Victoria Secret is, other sh!tty Designers like Dolce and Gabbana and Chanel and Valentino and Vera Wang Prada are just not high enough up there. We all know that VS is was beyond that. We all know what good quality and classy goods that good old VS holds. Who cares about having a contract with any of those famous fashion designers. They are nothing and will never be as AMAZING VICTORIA SECRET!
