Angelina Jolie Tops Showbiz Power List
Angelina Jolie topped the list of highest-paid actresses in the Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment: Power 100 list.
Angie, who placed #24 in the entire showbiz power list, commands $15+ million a movie thanks to her 2008 movies grossing over $1 billion worldwide.
Following the 33-year-old actress on the list was Julia Roberts and 2007’s best-paid actress, Reese Witherspoon.
Oprah Winfrey topped the entire list as the most powerful woman in the entertainment industry. Other notable celebs were Tyra Banks at #36, Tina Fey at #51, Rachael Ray at #65 and Miley Cyrus at #100.

I know you already know this so please bear with me. The thing about the marriage is that most of Angie’s fans are worldwide so a great majority of them are very traditional and conservative. So I’m thinking that is a reason alot of the fans are hoping for a marriage or wedding (especially with her kids). I know we here in the US don’t care too much about such BS piece of paper but you know I understand why fans harp on it so much.

LOL, Aeon! I see the exact opposite. That fans around the world - especially in Europe - don’t understand why Americans make a such a big deal out of them getting married. I think it’s a particular rub to X fans because they KNOW X had to basically drag Brad to the alter. SHE was the one who wanted to get married. Angie? She’s been there, done that and doesn’t see it as the be-all-end-all of a relationship. Brad obviously feels that way, too. It’s not about the piece of paper, but the commitment. And sorry, but when you’ve got 6 kids with someone that’s a hell of a lot harder commitment to walk away from than a dog that wasn’t even yours and an over-priced house. Speaking of dogs…you know Brad had 2 dogs when he met X, right? Guess where Brad’s dogs lived after they got together? Angie lives there and couldn’t give 2 shites if he shagged Putrid in every room AND on the pool deck. Angie has said that Brad has changed her (and her life) in so many ways. Well this is one of those ways. After she did MMS it seems that so many great things happened in her life–beginning with Brad. God bless this generous couple and their beautiful ( inside and out) family.

X wasn’t #2. Julia Roberts was. Which I can’t figure out because she hasn’t had a hit movie in a good 7 years! But…Reese’s last movie tanked so I can see why she dropped. JR’s last 2 movies to make any significant money were O11 and O12 - and she only had small roles in those 2 movies. You have to go all the way back to Erin Brockovich in 2002 to find a movie she played the lead in that made over $100MIL domestic, $200MIL worldwide. What does it say about JR that her 2 of the movies she made with major leading men didn’t even crack $70MIL domestic? The Mexican and Charlie Wilson’s War both did about $67MIL. And for that she’s the 2nd highest paid? Makes me wonder where Jodie Foster was on the list. They had Katherine Heigl at #5 and I saw a story not 6 months ago that her asking price was $6MIL per movie. So where are the other actresses who are supposedly part of the $10MIL club? Halle, Drew, Jodie Foster, Nic Kidman?
BTW - the Top 5 were Angie, JR, Reese, Cam Diaz and Katherine Heigl.

I agree with the first part of your post. As for getting married… I don’t know. I have read several times how a couple ties the knot after a long time of successfully living together, and find that it doesn’t work. They suddenly feel pressured, fenced in or whatever, and have to split.
How about tying the knot just to please all the people who want them to, and then, soon after that, split to go on living together as before!!!
If they are already quietly married, just keep it quiet. It’s nobody’s business!

That happened to a co-worker. She lived with this guy for like 8 years…he kept asking her to marry him. She finally relented. Not a year later she divorced him and said, “I knew I hadn’t married him for a reason! Now he thinks he OWNS me!” LOL. Apparently he thought marriage would be a way to control her. Like suddenly he’s the king of the castle and she’s some damned handmaid. She divorced him so fast his head spun. I believe her exact words to me were, “Fcuk this shite!” Damn…that was funny. Angelina Jolie tops actress salary list

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie has proven again how handsomely it pays to combine gun-wielding action with serious roles, as she topped The Hollywood Reporter’s list of highest-earning actresses on Friday.
But salaries are plummeting for top actresses and still lag the earnings of leading men, the trade paper said.
Jolie, 33, earned $15 million for the action movie “Wanted” this year and she could make $20 million to star in a possible sequel, it said.
Jolie played dramatic roles in 2007’s “A Mighty Heart” and in this year’s “Changeling.” The mother of six and partner of actor Brad Pitt last month talked about eventually fading away from acting to spend more time with her family.
Oscar winner Julia Roberts, 41, claimed the No. 2 spot after a long absence from the screen, making more than $15 million for “Duplicity,” which comes out next year.
Actors are also earning less, with the exception of Will Smith, star of blockbusters “Hancock” and “I Am Legend,” who is riding high with up to $25 million per movie.
“Everyone else’s prices have gone down,” an unidentified talent agent told The Hollywood Reporter.
Reese Witherspoon, 32, who topped the female list last year after winning an Oscar for her role in the 2005 movie “Walk the Line,” dropped to No. 3. She earned $14 million for appearing in the comedy hit “Four Christmases” that opened last week.
Cameron Diaz, Katherine Heigl, Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Aniston rounded out the list, with 39-year-old “Friends” star Aniston earning more than $8 million for the comedy “Marley & Me” opening on Christmas Day.
Big stars such as Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman — both Oscar winners — are no longer able to earn $10 million a movie.
Compare that with Pitt and Johnny Depp, who according to The Hollywood Reporter make between $15 million and $20 million per film

Angie was powerful in this Eastwood film and would love to see her win an oscar altho have stopped believing in the fairness of Oscar noms along time ago. Angie truly does deserve an oscar tho but will wait and see. The film Changeling should not be difficult to find at theaters as is now worldwide. If it is not at your theater yet..it will be.

Universal and Working Title refused to let their screen adaptation of the Brit mini-series State of Play fall apart just before the writers’ strike when Brad Pitt insisted on rewrites. So director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) recast Pitt’s role with Russell Crowe, already working in-house on Nottingham (which was eventually pushed back anyway) and Ben Affleck in the Edward Norton role. Word is, the on-set chemistry was not ideal. While Crowe is never easy, he and Affleck were supposed to be playing best friends, and they couldn’t stand each other. Poor Macdonald had his hands full. It remains to be seen whether their on-set chill will negatively impact their performances. State of Play is due in April, 2009.

However, what worked 4 years ago, do not work today. People have their own set of problems and do not have time to read a whiny narcissistic ex-sitcom star whine about her over privileged life. The only victim in this triangle is AJ. I admire AJ strength, committed to her Partner and Children and conviction to her causes.
