Honestly, Twilight the movie sucked big time. But I dont think its all her fault, the story was pretty lame too…I havent read the book, so I dont know if its because the adaptation was badly made or because the story itself sucks, but if they want to make a sequel they better make one that everyone can enjoy, even people who haven’t read the books.
That being said, Pattinson is probably the only thing worth watching the movie for.

i’m glad she got fired, i don’t think she captured the true essence of twilight. it was cheesy and badly directed. hopefully they will find a person who can balance sci-fi and romance really well, cuz the first movie definitely left alot to be desired.

thank goodness! i put the blame for the movie sucking hardcore on the casting director,director and screenplay writer and kristen stewart (did anyone actually watch her? not just r.patz?she was pretty terrible. she over acted and made bella into someone else.) hopefully they can bring someone much better in. to me it seemed like several different people were directing the film. there was no flow. there was a lot of contrast between each scene.

Hopefully this means Summit will kick Meyer into touch and tear that book to shreds, More Cullens please. I want to see Edward with his family. Particularly Rob Pattinson and Peter F working together. If Pattinson wasnt such a gorgeous and charismatic actor this franchise woud be dead.

The books are pieces of trash unfit to even be considered literature, 95% of the actors in this movie are not capable of acting. Her directing probably did suck for this since her style is completely different than this movie would call for but she is hardly the main reason for this ridiculous garbage of a movie.

Kristen Stewart & Nikki Reed will be severely pissed as the director was the only reason they did this movie. They’ll probably have something to say about it.

Thrilled by the news. Hardwicke was a terrible director. Maybe now Pattinson wont have to argue with the director. He must have known how bad she was after working with such good ones like Mike Newell and Paul Morrison.

I think they (the film company) are probably spreading rumours. Hardwicke probably wanted more money to direct the second and third pics, and when she and the movie execs couldn’t come to an agreement, they fired her and started saying **** to discredit her.

Thirteen= incredible acting. twilight you couldn’t pay me to see, but from what ive heard and seen in the trailer, the acting sucks. That director can clearly do better than twilight. they were probably annoying her with their crap acting which is why she was “irrational”

Paul Morrison would be a wonderful director for this film. he made Rob Pattinson’s Little Ashes film and was awesome. For £1.4 million he created a masterpeice. Summit need that level of imagination. He got a tremendous award winning performance from Rob Pattinson.

The movie came with a fan base. The director had little to do with the frenzzie, until the movie was out in theatre.
I read the books, they are cheesy but very, very addictive…good teen reading I must say, but not great literature.
I am not a 100% movie fan, what drew me close to Twilight was the leads performances. Kristen was a bit wooden along the way, but Robert was awsome! Great acting, many may not approve, because is hard to isolate his acting from the crapy make-up and lame special effects!

I like Hardwicke, but I did not like the movie as a whole. I don’t know if this was her fault, the screenwriter’s, or a combination. In the end, the feelings from the book were translated to screen, but the flow of the movie was CRAP! I think it would be smart to film New Moon and Eclipse back-to-back. I also hope that whoever they get to direct is a) a woman and b) keeps the same feelings/look the first movie had. Hardwicke probably wanted more money (for both the production and salary) than Summit was willing to give . Understandable, to an extent, but Summit probably has a lot of debt that needs to be made up from all of its other failures and this is their chance to recoup the losses. Summit better thank their lucky stars they have Rob as Edward, because he is the only reason I would pay to see the next installments if they f*ck up New Moon…

“whatever” needs to take a major chill pill but anyway.. The movie was really disappointing. I am in my 20s and read the book because I heard it was “mindless, fun, beach reading”, which it was. It definately was not supposed to win a pulitzer but it told a good story. I was excited for the movie but they really botched it and something needs to change before New Moon. I personally thought it was the directing and the writing. They missed a giant opportunity to make a movie that was even better than the book (which tended to drone on about how hot Edward was all the time). I thought the acting was ok, I’m not sure what everyone’s problem with Kristen Stewart was, she was one of the few that I thought did very well and I thought she fit Bella to a T. So we shall see. I might be more inclined to consider seeing New Moon if there is a change in the directing and/or writing.

I will still see New Moon, regardless of the director. I think New Moon is a great book and whoever the director will be, the movie will be amazing.

I don’t know if she did a terriable job then the movie would never had made such money as it did. I think she did as best she could with a low budget and I think they kept it low in hopes to get the sequel out of it. If they use another director great but, this is a rumor Hardwick got fire not to say this was exactly correct information.

i loved the movie, and i loved the book!! but the movie was kinda cheesy but it was still really good! and i think kristen stewart did an amazing job,, so stop putting her down! and i think new moon will be incredible even if there isnt as much of robert pattinson!! i mean taylor lautner is pretty too! and hopefully they will get a really good director for this one, and make not as cheesy.

I don’t think they are going to recastm all of the actors have already come out and said they they are signed on for the next 2 films…i like nikki reed as rosalie i don’t understand what the problem is…although i would definitey agree Twilight had moments of awkwardness I overall liked it. I feel like they got real actors to play this part and that’s what saved the movie, otherwise i would have been totally put off by some of the cheesy lines, which are from the book, so it’s hard to blame the screenwriter or director from words that came directly from the book.

Twilight was suppose to be a low budget film. They had no money to start if off. They didnt realize the fan base was going to be millions of people.

Well, honestly I think New Moon might be better off for getting a new director. Hopefully someone who specializes in special effects and romance. Is James Cameron available? I must give props for Catherine Hardwicke being the first female to have a 70 million first weekend, but mostly want to give her props for bringing Rob Pattinson into the spotlight. I agree with people who say he saved the film.

Rob P. is the best thing since slice bread. I saw the movie before I read the book. Without having the vision of Rob P. in my head, I would have stopped reading the book after the first page. Well.. it happens doesn’t it? The inevitable passing of the torch. I couldn’t see Melissa and Catherine doing the whole saga- just doesn’t happen.
I DO think the book is what sold the movie. I don’t think I would have seen the movie had I not JUST read the series the month before. I read in an article review of the movie (RollingStone I think) that the movie was the coles notes version of the book. I had to agree(yet won’t stop me from buying the DVD). I certainly love the storyline, but I think the screenplay glossed over the parts that were intrical to the theme just to squeeze in as many characters as possible. I would have never had figured out the DEPTH of the love story had I not read the book. I honestly didn’t get why they set THAT part of the story to flashforwards and music playing out the intensity Bella and Edward had built their love story on.
Screenplay did have alot to contend with…but in the end.. it’s the directors vision. The bright side…other major series have contended with multiple directors and faired pretty well. HP, Batman, Terminator all have had multiple director changes….usually for the better. I hope that with New Moon, they have the sense to gloss over the mental breakdown with Jacob. We don’t need to know EVERY detail about the soap opera of being a werewolf. ;) I do however like Bella hearing Edward’s protective voice though.

Totally loved most of the cast. I kinda thought Rosalie wouldn’t have been a bottle blonde…but meh. What can you do. :) I loved Emmit and Charlie. Awesome casting.
Bring on change…change is good. ;) Best of luck to Catherine on her next project though.

No offense but Pattinson is a wooden actor and he is HORRIBLE in Dali’s biopic LITTLE ASHES. Ms. Hardwicke made this stupid TWILIGHT book what it is and she did a phenomenal job at it. Summit’s decision is based on greed and I’m not surprised, that is Hollywood, folks. This is grossly unfair to tell the director she was difficult. To a certain extent you have to hold your ground in order to create your vision. I can bet you if they hire a male director he will be hell to deal with and no one will complain. SHAME on Summit Entertainment.

Kristen cast Pattinson, who wanted to be in the movie because of Kristen and Hardwicke. The screenwriter was terrible, she hardly gave anything to Kristen to work with. Let`s face it, it is a girl movie so no wonder that Pattinson stole the lime light and for everyhing else Kristen took the blame. Pattinson is just a guy who luckily, as he said , found himself in this woman frenzy. It could have been anybody else. Hopefully, a new director (and screnwriter)will balance their roles better and I really hope Kristen, who was sacrificed and scapegoated will not pull out.

Well, at least they put it across as an amicable split. I would be more upset with an actor change. That totally messes with the series when they do that. I have yet to see Twilight (I’m still ‘mourning’ finishing the books, they were so freakin’ good and have yet to make my way to see the movie). I jumped on the Twilight bandwagon late and my book had RP and KS on the cover so I didn’t get to imagine them. They are Edward and Bella in my mind.. and I do worry a bit about being disappointed with the movie, they are so perfect in the book. I’ve become a bit RP obsessed, visually he is the perfect Edward and I love his voice (Never Think…mmmm). Good thing I have a family to take of so I don’t have time to stalk him (kidding… sort of). What I’ve seen in trailers, the movie does look visually stunning. But it would suck for Summit to screw something like this up. SM has set up something incredible here, don’t let greed and movie inner workings ruin it

I only saw this film because of Rob Pattinson. Summit need to wake up and realise what the real draw is. New Moon needs a lot of reworking. Cut down all that boring Bella Jacob motorbike drivel. Beef up the Italian stuff.

Natalie- if you have read the book the movie really wasn’t toned down. Their relationship builds in the book. He cannot makeout with her because he doesn’t know if he can control himself. Even in Breaking Dawn he is unaware if he can control himself.

I hope in Breaking Dawn they actually give us the sex scenes since we had to use our imaginations in the book.

THE STORYLINE WAS NOT ESTABLISHED WELL ENOUGH FOR THE REST OF THE BOOKS…I DONT KNOW WHOS AT FAULT, BUT UNLESS THEY COME UP WITH A WAY TO PORTRAY WHAT THIS BOOK IS ABOUT (TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS FACED BY BELLA & EDWARD DUE TO THERE LOVE AND THERE DIFFERENCES) THEN THE REST OF THE SEQUALS WILL SUCK, REGARDLESS!

I forgot saying one thing. Some people here are saying that Rob saved the movie. People, maybe you’re right, but you have to admit that Kristen Stewart did a GREAT job. She is a very good actress. Bella is a very difficult character to play. And she did great doing her role. So, please stop saying that Kristen did an awful job, because i can’t see a better way her to do that. She is an amazing actress….she totally convinced me playing Bella…in the screem she was bella!!!!!!!!! her facial expressions was always right… like in the scene that Ed tell bella that he is a vampire, or in the scene that Tyler’s van almost hit her and Ed saves her. She is perfect to play Bella!!! New moom, Eclipse and Breaking dawn HAVE to include Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the cast, or it won’t be good…

I loved twilight the way it was!
I don’t understand why people didn’t like it. I think it was amazing and the acting was just great… and as a book-reader I was totally thirlled about the way the book was translated into a movie..
so as a fan I will watch the sequel no doubt about it..

I have not seen the movie, not released yet in my country, (actually the French première was tonight), but this director saw the star potential in Robert Pattinson, and that’s a great quality.
This said, he has certainly worked his ass off to promote the movie. He deserves all his success. Just 2 words of warning for him: Colin Farrell. I just hope he will handle his new fame and its trappings better than Farrell.

in Brazil, Twilight’s premiere is on 19 of december……. i have already bought my tickets (of course) and i know that i will love it. In Brazil there’s MANY Twilight fans. I read all the books, Breaking dawn in english, because it wasn’t realized in portuguese yet. And i loved all the books. Kristen Stewart is like my favorite actress, and i love rob too. I know that they did a great job in the movie.

Hm. Interesting summations on the movie and it’s director and her choices as director. I’ve given some thought to Kristen Stewart’s role in this…and I do think she’s a great actress………but…….. I kinda thought Bella would be more….soft…fragile…selfless and nurturing….and with a penchant for bad clothes. KS has too hard of an edge to her and has a hard exterior. There’s an early clip of RP saying how intimidating she is to be around in person and how strong she is……and THAT does come through on screen. She’s not caregiver and lacks that soft side hidden under a false bravado.
As for Nikki Reed cast as Rosalie, well, it’s who you know right? I saw it with a few friends and they were stunned with her as well. She just doesn’t fit. She should have played a Jessica… or maybe a Kate later on in the sequels. I saw Rosalie as a more of a Rachel McAdams type look - a timeless beauty since she was frozen as a vamp in the 1920’s. As for Jacob…. I just don’t know how that little guy is going to get to be a big burly 7 foot bohemeth without recasting. Jake’s gonna get big. It’s going to be interesting if he’s sticks around.
I think Potter has had a new director nearly everytime. I think they’ve only gotten better IMO. I do hope they beef up the abilities of Alice. Jasper and Edward…since it’s kind of a big deal at the end. And beef up the Italy scene for sure! Can’t wait to hear who’s gonna take the next one on.

Um… blame the director all you want, but Twilight itself isn’t exactly great material to work with. It’s a fluffy, cheesy set of books full of things like sparkly vampires and personality-less females. I mean, if you don’t believe me, try summarizing the plot of the books to someone who hasn’t read them. If they have half a brain, by the time you get to “and he pretends to hate the clumsy and awkwardly beautiful girl but secretly lusts for her blood” they will have slapped you. Aside from that, the books are also horrendously written and have a too-conservative agenda. I mean, really, sexless vampire romance? How little fun is that?!

The movie had few redeeming values outside of the skills of Robert Pattinson and, perhaps even more so, the supporting cast.

I suggest that they move away from the horrendously written books and add some spice to the otherwise dull interactions between the main characters. Other than that, keep the same cinematographer. For serious.

Oh, and if they could just eliminate Renesmee entirely, I’d be pleased.

new director and new screenwriter — that’s what the next movies need — and Rob and Kristen, you need to spend the next few months developing some chemistry!

OK…how to start….

Replacing the director IS a great idea. Hardwicke is a good director BUT this sort of thing isn’t her forte. Anyone who isn’t legally blind can see that. They made the right choice on that one. They do need to replace the screenwriter as well. They can’t write to save their life. The main thing against this franchise IS the books are so cheesy and vomit-inducing mush of a long-winded “prose” (and I’m using the most loose of definitions of the word here) I’ve ever read. In the book Twilight, there’s 200 some-odd pages in the middle of it that basically repeats unnecessarily, the gist of it here, “I could kill you but I won’t.” It’s not much to work with and it gets worse with each book after it. I know the series isn’t suppose to be Pulitzer Prize winning material but come on! Even for a teen novel series the story (or in this case lack of to be brutally honest about it because it’s basically nothing more than a badly written Danielle Steel novel(s) to put it mildly) could actually have a PLOT not a coma inducing mush fest. And, I’m a hardcore romantic. That’s the source material from which these films are from. What they really need to do, and this is really saying something since normally I’m also hardcore about sticking to the novels from which films are based from, please, please, please stray from them on these. The novels aren’t cinematic. They are too much talking heads and they don’t do vampires justice. It’s trying to idiotically promote a view of something which is the opposite of what vampires have been the metaphor for for over thousands of years. It’s too ingrained in the human psyche to change it now. These stories are trying to be a symbol of chastity when vampires have ALWAYS been metaphors for the opposite of that thought process. The filmmakers need to exercise their rights that they obtained from buying the rights from Meyer and change it to how they see fit for cinematic purposes. Meyer sold them the rights. They couldn’t make the films if she didn’t. Not legally. They CAN change it if they so wished to. They are only giving Meyer a voice because they CHOOSE to. They moment they choose not to, there isn’t one thing Meyer can do about it.

I’m all for changing the vampire mythos because it has gotten stale through the years and Meyer did come up with some interesting twists when she got off the obsessive, vomit-inducing, overly and badly written crap she called herself writing as a romantic story. It wasn’t often because she still resorted to cliches and definitely copied off of Anne Rice quite a bit. Anybody who believes the whole didn’t read or research vampres line she claims is an idiot. You can tell she did. A lot of the things are too much like the stuff and rules for vampires Rice came up with starting 32 years ago with “Interview With The Vampire.”

Back to back means that they are thinking about doing a Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions, Lord of the Rings where they film both films together one right after the other with NO time off in between the shootings. Instead of just one film in 2 to 3 months, it’s 2 films in 6 to 7 months at the very least. It’s basically shooting them both as just one big film instead of two. That is the smartest way to go since the actors who play the vampires won’t have that much time to get too old to play the parts and that’s the number one reason they are thinking about doing that. I’m willing to bet on it. And, I only bet if I know for a fact I’m going to win. These films are extremely time sensitive due to that fact of the actors ages and physical appearances due to their ages. The age of the fans is pretty much irrelevant because grown women love these books as much as the tween/teen crowd.

i totally do NOT agree w/ u SAMANTHA .think the book was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy awesome. and Meyers made vampires better in the book. its was good 2 change the traditinal vampire. but she still did keep traditional w/ James,Laurent, and Victoria. i definatly do NOT think that they should change the vampires in the movie cuz it would reck the whole thing. i probably would not even watch the movies if they did that. From an intellectual stand point, you have many good points but I don’t totally agree with you. The series does have a plot. It lacks a solid, strong STORY. Two totally different things but completely tied together. You can’t have a plot (the events that tell the story) without a story (the intangible concept(s) that essentially tell what it is about humanity and life that the writer wants to say).

I also disagree with you to a certain extent about the Rice thing. True, you can tell that Meyer did in fact read up on vampires and did some research. She could have come up with the things she did if she hadn’t done the homework. They are too much alike but they are different. She TRIED to throw the twist in there to make it different and change the mythos but it does fall flat like you pretty much said. Meyer did have some great ideas but she passed on the opportunity to really make those ideas and changes in the vampire mythos into something iconic that will last for decades because Meyer did overdo it on the romance parts of the story. You are unarguably right about that. You are also unarguably, from an intellectual stand point, right about the symbolism of vampires and what they have symbolized for thousands of years. And, you are right that someone can’t change that symbolism now because it is so deeply ingrained in the human psyche. That is the one thing about vampires that can’t be changed. It’s the same as trying to change the meaning of a cross and the meaning of the shape known as the heart. When someone sees it, they automatically know the exact meaning. Vampires do not convey chastity and never will. They symbolize the darker, more sensual and passionate side of the human psyche. They ooze sexuality and always have. They never will stop doing that. You are so right about that and it was an insane and futile attempt on Meyer’s part to try to impart the whole chastity ideal through the use of vampires. Never going to work and it makes the story of theTwilight series less for that concept of Meyer’s. The symbolism and the moral of the story don’t mess at all together.

I will say this. Your comment was enjoyable though. It’s so nice even if rare to actually read something so intellectual on a site like this because comments rooted in such intellect are really rare on gossip sites. My guess is gossip sites are a guilty pleasure for you just like they are for me. LOL

the first movie was good because of robert pattinson and kristen plus its a great story i love the book but i didnt lik the directing as much. it made me mad when the movie didnt turn out as good as i hoped. they cut out alot of major scenes, not once did they talk about edward dazzleing ppl and not once did edward giv his crooked smile but over all it was good simply because i read the books and i know the characters. acting was good but the director has got to go!

Okay, what was so bad about Hardwicke’s directing? I had training in film and I thought she did a fine job. She used a lot of good techniques in a creative way: rule of thirds, close ups, fades, good angles, montages, and the camera movements. I also thought the scenery was just key, the actors did a nice job, script covered all of the main points, music score was wonderful and original. I think its mostly guys that don’t like it. Why because a woman directed it? Feeling threatened are we? We need more women directors! Another movie directed by a woman was The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things by Asia Argento; awesomely done. Women need more credit for directing. Hardwicke had the number one movie over the weekend. That is quite an accomplishment! I hope she does more movies. She can only get better, and I if she’s good now, imagine what she’s gonna do in the future. Keep going Catherine!

Its a great thing that Catherine Hardwicke was fired, she ruined the twilight film. Absolutely destroyed it. She should never have been allowed near it. Thank god Chris Weitz is taking over to do New Moon, he wants to stick to the book as closely as he can.

i wasn’t aware of the books before the film (since seeing it i have read them though) but i thought Catherine did a great job. Considering how successful Twilight has been, it’s a bit careless and malicious to drop Catherine now that the sequel is a guaranteed success.
I hope she at-least gets more opportunities to direct high-profile films as a result of the success of this one.

Well its just the way it is guys!!! in a male chauvinist society, i know guys won’t agree but truth always hurts.

Twilight’s team wasn’t sure if they were producing a big blockbuster or not at the first place, they just wanted to do a movie but when they saw that the film is a big hit and people are excited about everything about it, the male ego couldn’t stand it and they decided to have a different director (Obviously a Male) , which i think is worst than anything, until when are women won’t be allowed to do anything on a male level. They just wanted the film and everything to be under a male power and that’s it and the truth! so to speak.

The film wasn’t entirely bad, when we say that they were going for a cheesy and teen film the direction was perfect on that level.

BUT I AM Soo not happy with the casting of BELLA, everyone knows that she is beautiful and all but a Terrible and plane actress, no emotions or anything came from her character. Kristen was just casted in the film because Cathrine (Twilight’s Director) is good friends with Michael Angarano (Kristen= Bella’s real life Boyfriend), and also she was given the role because Emile Hirsch (Leading actor in the film The Girl Next Door) also a friend of Catherine’s , and Kristen has so much attitude towards all that she did not even had the courtesy to thank Emile for the recommendation.Plus it is far more obvious that Miss Stewart is very much jealous about the attention Robert has been given.

I really loved how Robert played his character on screen but Off Screen i do not like the type of person he is, since he is always complaining about the girl’s or should i say the loving and devoted Fan’s of his scream whenever they see Robert!. I know this is a big and new thing, but he have to have some manners and appreciate when his fans show their love for his by screaming at him! instead calling the fan’s Stupid, Insane, Scary, and saying stuff like I don’t know why they scream so much it scares me & chuckling at the fact that fans cry when they see him or stuff. But he should know that if it wasn’t for these loving screaming and crying fans Robert wouldn’t be on the scene and recognized!.

Plus what’s up with casting Vanessa Hudgens for New Moon??

i didn’t know she got fired. thats a little extreme. but tbh i dont think i could have held out more than a year for the next film, and the film may lose popularity if we had to wait much longer just like is happening to Harry Potter. What were they thinking postponing the film’s release until the summer!?!?!

I think Catherine did a great job with the film, but could have been a bit better as i thought the whole ‘i know what you are….’ sequence was pretty flat in comparison to the ‘meadow scene’ in the book.

Though her replacement has made some amazing films in the past - American Pie is a classic! i will never get sick of stiffler!!

To Enlighten the few of you who fail to understand the world as a whole: Kristen Stewart was on the set of Adventureland when Hardwicke visited her for an informal screen test which “captivated” the director.

Hardwicke did not initially choose Robert Pattinson for the role of Edward Cullen, but after an audition at her home (That’s right allyou RPatz fans, CATHERINE’S HOME!) with Stewart, he was selected.

Pattinson was unfamiliar with t’he novel series prior to his screen test but read the books later on. Meyer allowed him to view a manuscript of the unfinished Midnight Sun, which chronicles the events in Twilight from Edward’s point of view.

Fan reaction to Pattinson’s casting as Edward was initially negative, That’s right you read it correctly! NEGATIVE!!!!!

So when you spew your nonsense about the fact a great person Catherine Hardwicke was not reupped for this role it SADDENES ME!!

She was excited about the project from the Get-Go! She worked her butt off! She brought something to life that was not there, she tried new methods, she worked well with the other actors/actress’ in their roles. She gave others excitement with her passion for a little book by Stephenie Meyer. Every Interview I have seen with her she is PASSIONATE for her LOVE for the book/movie!

Honestly, unlike almost all of you saying Hardwick sucked I liked her, because the cast loved her! She was like a big kid always having fun and getting the job done right!
Now I am a big Twilight Freak on all my shoes they say Twilight I wrote on my walls! I look up stuff about the movie and upcoming movie New Moon Every day, For almost 4 hours straight or longer!
Some of us are sad that we must see Hardwick go, as I am! And some are happy! I don’t get that, Twilight is a major hit! It made 160 million DOLLARS! And Mrs Hardwick made it a hit!

Twilight the movie was really badly made. I’m glad that they are getting a new director. It sold because Twilight the book is so unbelieveably awesome. i love the twilight series books, and i loved the movie because i lov ethe books to me the movie had a lot of flows which i think were the directors problem, but i am so happy now i think that the real vision of the author will b seen on the movie this time in new moon

First Off Rob Pattinson was in no way anything like the Edward described in the books, although he did a good job playing Edward in the movie he lacked in the looks department especially compared to the other cullen actors! Second, though the movie was okay, Catherine Hardwicke did her best to butcher it from the begining kind of like the director of the 3rd harry potter film, so thank God for chris weitz!!!

The screenwriter should be fired too! The movie didn’t follow the book. Scenes were out of order. Just for a few, they didn’t eat in the local restaurant, Bella cooked for Charlie, she didn’t have cell phone or a laptop, she had a hand-me-down computer and her room was light blue with yellow curtains. Where was the rocking chair? The sceen in the forest didn’t even take place. Stewart’s Bella was cold and undeveloped. Bella and Edward’s relationship were not able to develop as well, it was like all of a sudden they were a couple. The field trip was nonexhist and there was no PROM at the top of a hill in a swanky restaurant it took place in the high school gym. I hope the next director and screenwriter get into the books more and allow the characters (actors) to come alive on the screen. And the films REALLY need to be filmed in Washington on the coast! Add another 20-30 minutes to the movies, develop the characters and allow the actors act! Too bad Stephanie Meyer doesn’t take more control of her work.

i thought that the movie was great!… i couldnt imagine any other actors/actresses playing Edward and Bella. Robert P. and Kristen S. are amazing :)
but now that Catherine has ‘gone’ the new moon movie is going to have a different feeling, Cath needs to be rehired otherwise ‘Twilight’ and ‘New Moon’ wont match.

I really liked the book twilight! I enjoyed the whole series. I would have to say thought that the movie was not too good but not to bad. I don’t think they should put new moon and eclipes back to back! I hope they get a good director so the rest of the movies are good!

I bought Twilight and I love the performance of Rob Pattinson, actually one of the best along with Billy Burke and Cam Gigandet.
Rob is the reason I am in love with Edward Cullin, so YES, YES, and YES again I will definatly see all the movies as long as Rob still plays EDWARD!!!!!!! So who cares about Catherine Hardwicke, she wasen’t that good nways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hardwicke did an awful job.
i feel bad for stephenie, she worked so hard on those amazing books.
Catherine ruined twilights amazing name with bad directing.
New moon is not the best of the twilights so whomever gets the directors job will have 2 work very hard to make it a hit

She was too into making it a power chick movie. Hardwicke blows. I can’t wait to see what David Slade does with Eclipse. Bella also needs to be re cast.

Yeah, definately think it is good that Catherine is out… The book was poorly translated to the screen. Their was too much cut in the wrong places… The book was soooo much better. Stephenie Meyer is not a good writer but she is a fabulous “story teller”! I hope that comes across this time.

I just finished watching the 2009 MTV awards. I watched specifically to see the sneak peek for New Moon. I was not impressed by the “new” look of the movie. It has more color to everything. I for one think the vampires shouldn’t be that rosy. It was just a clip, so we’ll see. I personally think Catherine did a great job capturing the darkness of the movie. New Moon is in itself even darker. So why all the rosy color?

Would you idiots give me a break if she did such a bad job how did the movie win so many awards and get nominated for so much .Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, She got the emotions of the people so well. I’m so hoping the next one is as good. do you morons realize the director of BLADE RUNNER was not all warm and fuzzy either the director of the movie MASH same thing, I’m concerned they won’t get a director that can evoke the same emotions but oh well have to wait and see. By the way I’m 69 years old so maybe I need to get a life I’ve read the books 6 times and love the love story of it all. Marlene Yes i’ve seen the movie several times and love it!!!!!!!

Omg this is great news. Hardwitch did it a horrible job directing Twilight and it sucked. New Moon looks awesome and I’m sure it wouldn’t be if she was directing again.
