Kate Walsh: Divorce After 15 Months
Private Practice star Kate Walsh’s movie exec husband Alex Young has filed for divorce from the actress, reports ET.
The date of separation is listed as November 22, 2008, just before the Thanksgiving holiday. According to the filing papers, Alex cited irreconcilable differences.
Kate and Alex married in September of 2007.
Something crazy must have happened between November 9 and 29 as the couple looked quite happy together in Las Vegas!
UPDATE: Kate’s reps tells JustJared.com, “Papers have been filed to amicably end the marriage of executive Alex Young, and actress Kate Walsh. The couple remain on friendly terms and sincerely hope the media will respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

I have to wonder if he was cheating or something like that. She did seem so happy. Its his loss, Kate is beautiful and truly amazing anyone would be lucky to have her.
Kate will rebound - she’s a strong personality with a fantastic sense of humor and is very down-to-earth. Sad news, but that is life.
To the people commenting that Kate is not a nice person. She’s actually one of the LEAST self centered Actress’ around these days. She’s one of the sweetest people I have ever met. And other people agree. So stop BSing that she was so bad towards Alex, we all know how much she loved him. I know eventually she’ll find someone else to love!
I’d think that people who get married for the first time when they’re in their mid/late 30s would know that all the romantic stuff doesn’t last, but maybe the fact they live in Hollywood cancels out the maturity factor. Anyone who’s been married knows that those butterfly feelings don’t last very long. Still, it’s hard for me to see how someone that age, even someone who doesn’t have a realistic view of marriage, can go from being in love and romantic and all over each other to a divorce a little over a year later.
What worries me is that Kate was on such a high last year, with her marriage and a new level of fame and all, and now . . . I just hope she doesn’t turn to something destructive to help her through.
oh my goddd. yeah, there were those vegas pics, but he was barely with her in any of her public appearances besides that.
they seemed to rush into it however. only about three-four months before they were engaged, she was spotted with dave annable. he’s much hotter than alex anyway.

Well, they were probably both happy to find someone who doesn’t love them for their money, i guess? We’ll never know. And i know ‘normal’ people who married this quick..and got divorced even quicker. It happens, and for Hollywood 15 months is a good time i guess..remember Britney Spears one day marriage?
And if they don’t get along anymore, just let them get a divorce. I love Kate Walsh regardless.
Honestly, i didn’t even give them a year! So it doesn’t really shock me, neither do i care very much. As long as it doesn’t keep Kate from going ‘Private Practice’ But-they want people to respect their privacy, so PLEASE let’s do that and let’s not come up with outragous rumors like ‘they probably lost the baby’ (she wasn’t pregnant) or that she is a lesbian (you wished!)

He is ABC TV executive and have alot to do getting her up there on the front by giving her the opportunity to have her own TV show and I think even get the network to sign her on for that 1st season. Now she’s successufl and her series get to 2nd season she dumped the guy like ‘ I can take it from here’ like ‘you’re no use of me anymore’ ya how convinient. Ya well, I don’t really know her and she seems like a plastic to me , putting up front, ‘oh love me, love me’ front you know what I’m talking about. You’re an actress you have to make fans love you. With that said, ya, I don’t know her but so do the people who seem to go ‘oh poor Kate, I hope she’s ok, she’s so nice’ ha? you live with her? you’re her friend? you know her true character? No, you’re sold by her interviews and her sexy pictures and the characters she play on TV show you love, that is all, but do you really KNOW HER? Cut the crap wiht this annoyance as if you really know the real her, oh poor Kate, she better off with the man’. The fact that she got married at 40 tell you she’s the type who wouldn’t make a sacrifice for anyone but herself. Geez even on her wedding photos shown of her expression of second thought of that marriage. 1st of all- Alex is not an executive from ABC.. he is co-president of production of 20th Century Fox.. and she got her own show because of her own hard work.. her character on GA was so popular, they decided to give her her own show.. do not talk about something you dont know..
and, in fact, there are people here that know her, she’s human, so she has a lot of friends and people that know her, so they could have met her..
we, fans, are saying that we support her, because we do.. we love her.. we don’t need to know her in person to love her and support her..
why dont you just find something to do in your life and STOP talking about things you don’t even know..

I didn’t see this coming at all! She seemed so happy when she talked about him just few weeks ago…so…there are 2 options:
she is a really good actress and was acting even when she was interviewed and talked about him sounding truly happy , but things were not this perfect and somthing had started to go wrong
or things were actually good just few weeks ago and something big happened that make them go wrong…it must have been something really bad because,,,you don’t decide to divorce from one day to another like that….

If it’s ended as amicably as they say, maybe the relationship just fizzled out and they realised they were better off as friends. There doesn’t have to be a big drama about it. Most marriages end over little trivial things. I wish them both the best and hope they both recover from it.
And word to Hayley’s post - Alex has nothing to do with ABC TV, he is responsible for the big franchise movies of 20th Century Fox (Die Hard, X-Men Wolverine etc). The cynics could at least get their facts straight before writing utter crap !

What’s with all this “Poor Kate?” Crap. Hardly anyone mentioned Alex. How do you think he feels? Kate is not the only person that was in that marriage. Alex was too and I think he deserves some support. I really like Kate too, but Alex is human as well.

Which lends weight to the rumor that Alex saw those pap pics of Kate leaving her lawyers a few months back and filed first just to get the upper hand and sympathy vote. Seems to have backfired given Kate’s counter-file and on Xmas Eve too. He must have really done something to piss her off!

I’m a HUGE kate walsh fan, but know this was a fake marriage. I’m actually glad it ended because I can’t see her pretending to be something she’s not. Now if you will excuse me I have to get myself ready so that I can seduce her. *puts on lip gloss*
