Chris Weitz To Direct ‘New Moon’
The Golden Compass director Chris Weitz is expected to direct New Moon, the sequel to the hugely successful film Twilight.
According to EW, “Weitz is best-known for his work with his brother Paul. The two directed and produced American Pie and then were nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay for About a Boy, which they also co-directed. Chris’ first solo directing gig, The Golden Compass, didn’t do well stateside but was a hit internationally.”
It was announced earlier this week that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke and the movie studio Summit Entertainment were parting ways.

Please make sure u plz pick the right director for New Moon that goes by the book as much as they can plz and would do a good job i bet all the fans wants that well (i think) i do cuz stephnie meyer worked hard on the books and summit should pick a good director so just asking nicely to pick the right director sounds like to me thats not a good director for New Moon so plz
he should not replace taylor lautner and we all fans of twilight hope he doesn’t turn this movie into a big load of crap
..like he could do any worse than the last director, the movie sucked..it was a complete insult to the book..which rocks.. i don’t even care who directs it.. but i do wish there was some way we could get a new Bella..
I really, really hope he doesn’t ruin New Moon. But the outlook ain’t great. American Pie? Oh yeah thats REALLY similar to New Moon and I’m sorry but Golden Compass was one of the sh**est films based on a book EVER made. I dunno why everyone’s moaning about Catherine Hardwike directing, she did an amazing job! Take it from me, I read soooo many books and see their adaptations on film. Anyone who complains about her work on Twilight has a really rubbish sense of perspective. Even my friend who is sosoososoooooooo critical of everything rated the Twilight film second on his list of film adaptations of books (after Lord of The Rings) COME ON!! They so should not have fired Hardwicke and put Chris bl**dy Weitz in her place, who’s running this thing???
Whatever, I’m just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

i don’t think the combination of a teenage girl’s perspective and a male director is gonna blend that well. good luck to him because i’m hoping this movie will be good. FINGERS CROSSED!
Hey, Weitz is excellent for new moon. About a boy is brilliant, American pie is best in the teenage category.
I though that New Moon will be some stupid girl romance but with Chris, it can be girl romance with style.

hey good luck i would just like to say
with new moon you NEED to put ‘you found me’ by the fray in the movie for when Bella is with Jacob because it just fits so perfectly and when you have the right music it makes it sp much better music is like telling its own story too.
plus put some more of Bella’s thoughts in or half the story gets thrown away!

All of you have it backwards. Did any of you READ New Moon? It was a complete waste of my time. Worst story out of the books and even worse, they are turning it into a film. The reason they are pushing the movie to come out faster is because even the execs realize what a crappy story it was. They’re just trying to squeeze out as much money out of everyone while its still fresh in people’s minds. By now most people have already come off the wagon but I’m sure there are still some barely jumping aboard. Chris Weitz would do good to change the story line in this case. Its the only way people aren’t going to fall asleep in the theater and demand their money back. In Catherine Hardwicke’s case. she should have followed the book instead of making changes.
Catherine Hardwicke was the person who directed the hugely successful film, Twilight. So she rightfully ‘parted ways’ with Summit Entertainment, but then they replace her with the person who butchered The Golden Compass ?! (Even though Cris Weitz will make New Moon look like crap I will be one of the people going to see it multiple times in the cinema and buying it on dvd as soon as it comes out HeeHee)
This is also my facebook status as i am trying to show people how much i disagree with this change of director - do not take this the wrong way, i know that Catherine Hardwicke NEEDED TO GO!
