On the film’s focus on universal moments:
Brad: It focuses on the universal moments. And they seem momunetal on the inside as far as first loves and loss, but it’s the thing that everyone experiences and carries with them.

On the goal of the film:
Brad: The goal was a new openness and honesty and taking responsibility of one’s choices and whatever fate brings you.

Thanks for the thread…it’s again refreshing to hear an actor speak about their role and the meaning of their film that shows us that he truly understands his craft, and can articulate it well.

As far as a boycott, you’ve got to be joking. This movie will resonate with movie audiences, and getting nominated for an Oscar would just be icing on Mr. Pitt’s cake. His family much more important to him than a statue. You can’t believe that he picks roles that are “Oscar worthy”….

As far as images, who doesn’t alter their image as their life changes, and they grow up and their priorities change? It just gets a little awkward when one person seems to be regressing their image, if you know what I mean….nice necktie.

It’s funny how do called bad reviews for Brad and Angelina is when their performances aren’t good enough to be in the top 5 possible Oscar potentials. Whereas the fraud (who most of these trolls are fans of) bad reviews come from the fact that she stripped to sell a family dog movie plus seems to be stalker Angelina. It seems critics don’t really care about the dog movie so they will watch it when they get a chance. How hard is it to review the fraud movies are all the same. The fraud will be perky. The fraud tries to act (See any serious Rachel moment from Friends) Owen will be goofy. The cute dog makes the movies.

…`how can you respect a man who’s the bish in his relationship.

Well I don’t respect Tom Cruise. I do like Will so I leave him alone. But his new movie looks like it should be on Lifetime along with the fraud’s movies.

Brad looks handsome. I think the look (mustache, few pounds, teeth) are for the movie he is currently filming. He has to look like the character he is playing sometimes that consists of lossing or gaining weight, changing hair color and/or length, changing teeth, and shaving or growing facial hair. CCBB looks like it is going to be considered a classic film. I admire Brad and his family for the good work they do on and off the screen. Don’t dislike them for getting older–EVERYONE GETS OLDER–If you are blessed with life!!!

No Cate? :( I wanna see her interviews…

I see Sci Fi man fans and Whiny X fans are battling it out for the most smears on a BP and AJ thread. It is truly a shame that these two supposedly mega stars(Whiny and Sci Fi man) cannot stand on their own. Whiny X career is in jeopardy and the “artistic naked photos” are not helping. Hollywood creates these fake competition and the fans on either side drink the koolaid. However, it is funny how they congregate on a BP and AJ thread and not the other way around. Thus the power of BP and AJ. You can call them names, old, cheaters, blah, blah, blah. However, you cannot ignore them and whine worst than Jen on a good day. Benjamin Button is an award worthy film. The dog movie is another throw-away Whiny X film. The Sci Fi Man film is Tom with a Malibu accent and a bad eye patch. I will be seeing Benjamin Button Movie this Christmas. However, I am sure the troll or fug face infamous, the Suri stalker, will keep spamming the thread.

anom, Brad and Angelina don’t pimp their children out to get good reviews. Shiloh is seen for a split three seconds in this film, wasn’t even planned. I’m not seeing the movie to see Shiloh, Brad and Cate is the reason I’m seeing it. If this were the case Brad would be toting his twins around which he’s not.

Tis the season when Hollywood starts to argue about the Oscars. But one thing just about everybody is agreed upon: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is the most highly anticipated film of the year. It stars Brad Pitt as Benjamin Button, a man who ages backwards, and Cate Blanchett as Daisy, the woman he loves and who loves him. The lavish epic, with a running time of just under three hours, is film-making on a grand scale, financed by two studios and costing north of $150m.

It’s the third collaboration between the controversial director David Fincher and Pitt, who also starred in Se7en and Fight Club. The film, which covers a span of more than 80 years and ends in the catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina, is very loosely based on a 1922 short story by F Scott Fitzgerald, which itself was inspired by a quote from Mark Twain: “Life would be infinitely happier if only we could be born at the age of 80 and gradually approach 18.”

Much of the anticipation comes from a carnival-attraction curiosity about seeing Hollywood’s most beautiful actor aged to look both much older than his 44 years, and, more disconcertingly, much younger than the young man who first excited us 17 years ago in Thelma and Louise. The startling special effects are a marriage of old-fashioned make-up, modern prosthetics and ground-breaking computer-generated techniques that have never been used like this before.

Film Review: Brad nails ‘Benjamin’
By Justin Marble

David Fincher and Brad Pitt’s collaborations produced two of the most well-regarded movies of the 1990s, the excellent thriller “Se7en” and the machismo-oozing “Fight Club.” Now, eight years into the next decade, both Fincher and Pitt have grown tremendously as artists, and it shows in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Pitt has gone from sex symbol to highly respected actor, with a series of critical successes including “The Assassination of Jesse James.” Fincher, coming off last year’s mind-blowing “Zodiac,” no longer relies on the surprise twists and the flashy camera tricks of his earlier career, and has become a much more mature filmmaker.

Fincher is helped tremendously by an excellent script from Eric Roth, adapted from an F. Scott Fitzgerald short story. “Benjamin Button” tells the story of a man (Pitt) whose body ages backwards — that is, he’s born with the body of old man and the mind of a child. His story is told in flashback, from the perspective of a daughter reading his diary aloud to her ailing mother in the present day. With the viewer along for the ride, Button grows up (or down?) from the end of World War I until present day, falling in and out of love (with Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett), watching his loved ones pass away, and learning about life in the process. Essentially, Fincher is telling all of our stories, and though Button is aging backwards, his experience is oddly real and human.

****It’s difficult to describe how great Pitt’s performance is, but at one point, we see the 40-something Pitt playing somebody with the mind of an 8-year-old, in 80-year-old prosthetics. Those convincing prosthetics certainly help him out, but seeing Pitt portray a character at every point in their life is mesmerizing to watch. His mostly female supporting cast do terrific jobs as well, including the up-and-coming Taraji Henson as Pitt’s surrogate mother.******

For Fincher, this is certainly a departure, away from the genre movies and his stylistically driven films of the past –– he’s certainly come a long way from directing Paula Abdul videos. Like many directors before him, Fincher has made one of those “films about everything” –– life, love, impermanence, death –– and he’s pulled it off better than most. Some may be put off by the length –– running at close to three hours, which is a shame because it’s a movie that I didn’t want to be over. There are some truly stand-out scenes, and the last 20 minutes will leave you with your jaw dropped, not in an M. Night Shaymalan “big twist” kind of way, but a “damn good filmmaking” kind of way.

The trailer makes this look like some kind of Gothic fantasy, and I have to applaud Fincher for not actually making it that way. Instead, he springboards off the one unrealistic part of the movie into unexplored territory. The result is a film that somebody at every stage of their life can relate to, not an easy thing to do. In doing so, Pitt and Fincher have created a character, movie and world that will all stand the test of time.

Benjamin Button’s Taraji P. Henson Signed Up to Work With Brad Pitt, Not an Old-Man Baby

Since his character ages backward from 80 to an infant, Brad Pitt couldn’t act in every scene of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button — much to the disappointment of Taraji P. Henson, who plays his surrogate mom. “He’s good, but he’s not that good — he can’t shrink himself,” she told us at last night’s Cinema Society screening. “I was like, ‘I signed up to work with Brad Pitt. Where is he?’” Instead, a chagrined Henson spent most of her time working with stand-in actors, who would later be replaced with computer-generated old-man babies. “They had a blue sock on their head and they had the face cut out so I could interact with them,” she explained.

“[David] Fincher was like, ‘Don’t worry about that, we have a whole team that’s going to take care of that. You just act,’” she continued. “But I couldn’t really conceptualize it. He tried to explain it to me … But once I got past the blue cap, I was able to let go. There’s a scene where he’s like bare-chested with Brad Pitt’s head, and I knew where to look. And it’s incredible, it’s seamless, it’s perfect.” Henson said she did get to work with the real Brad a little, and not even his new mustache would discourage her from doing it again: “Cute. Sexy. He can’t go wrong. He can wear a bag on his head and he’s fine.”

Wes Anderson recently directed Brad Pitt
in a 30-second television advertisement for Japanese cellphone company Softbank Mobile’s winter 2008 collection. Inspired by Jacques Tati’s 1953 French film “Les Vacances de Monseieur Hulot”, the commercial was shot in a seaside town in France in September.

Pitt has done a bunch of advertising work in Japan, and this isn’t Anderson’s first stint with commercials, as he directed and starred in a wonderful American Express “My Card” ad and did a series of commercials for AT&T in 2007. Like Anderson’s other commercial work, the new advertisement is filmed in one continuous take (or at least filmed to look like one continuous take) and features a bunch of swish pans.

Oh I can’t wait to see this movie!! There is a reason it’s getting noms, it’s not a dog comedy, it’s deeper than that, it looks fantastic. I like how Brad talks about taking RESPONSIBILITY for one’s CHOICES. It’s like he’s sending a message out *cough cough* and he talks about past loves and life moving on. He doesn’t care about his past anymore, he seems very mellow and happy, he is a man who has moved on and continues to move forth. Like many of us, he has his family to go home to a loving home, his work, his interests a full life that doesn’t consist of only mag covers and the superficial.

Henson said she did get to work with the real Brad a little, and not even his new mustache would discourage her from doing it again: “Cute. Sexy. He can’t go wrong. He can wear a bag on his head and he’s fine.”

…you know it Ms. Taraji!!! :-D

I think Brad looks wonderful. My favorite clip from the movies is the one of him on the motorcycle riding by himself. He is not wear a helmet. Gosh when I see him I just melt. I like that he does not look like did in Legends of the Falls. He was so beautiful in that movie. I mean really beautiful. All I saw was hair. Beautiful no doubt, but lots of hair. He has character now and he looks and acts like a man. That is sexy as all get out. I’m sure some of you seem soo young to really understand. But a woman does. This MAN is still very sexy. He is a father, and a partner. His career in the last 3 or 4 years has been his best ever… Babel, Jesse James, BAR and not TCCOBB. His movie choices are reflecting the man he is… NOT the boy he was. SO happy for him and the GG nod, and I think he has a great chance for the Oscars too. I can’t see the film on the 25th, but will see it on the 26th. It seems like an epic film perfect for this time of year. I hope the fans will support it and help it have a successful run. The reviews so far have been excellent and Brad performance has gotten great buzz too. I can’t wait to see he and Angie on the red carpet. They own any premier. The fans and Papz are going to go crazy.. Just wait and see.

As far as Jennifer Aniston is concerned she is a non topic in the Jolie-Pitt household. She is not a part of this mans life, and should not be mentioned anymore. I wish some of you would look at her interview with EXTRA. She was talking to Tanika and she was acting like a complete fool. They were showing her the John Mayer interview they did with him about the cake they made together. She was as always making silly faces and mumbling dumb non sentences. And of course she was mussing her hair. He favorite move. She acts like a teenager not a mature woman. Please watch. I don’t know how to post the link, but it may already be here, or someone else can post it. She is such a joke. I just don’t understand her. And to the people who keep saying that Brad Pitt regrets his choice of Angelina and their family…NO FU***** WAY. Her being naked on a mag is not making Brad hot and bothered. He has seen her naked, he knows what it is like to have sex with her. He knows every inch of her…. AND HE STILL LEFT. This man love Angie and his kids. To think that he wakes up and thinks that his life was better almost 4 years ago, is something that a person who does not have a brain would believer. And to think that this mans still wants her is insane. He has what he wants and wanted, and he will never go back.

Bdj, thanks for the news articles and links. I love that review by Justin Marble. Less than 2 weeks before CCOBB hit theatres and I can’t wait

Good morning all or whatever time zone you are in. Have a great Sunday.
It is always fun and games on a BP and AJ thread. However, Award season, film openings and Rags Wednesday make it especially challenging. BP and AJ are at the top of their game, personally and professionally. While some stars are left floundering, making bad choices and still whining 4 years later. It is a good thing BP and AJ leave those haters in the dust. Thanks for all the links and videos. Peace to all.

Not impressed by JA @ 12/14/2008 at 11:21 am

He has the substance of a man in his 40 and still has tthe good looks. Ain’t nothing as repulsive as a pretty boy of 40 with nothing else to back up. Besides if a man of 40 is still after his good looks only, he will go after women half his age CONSISTENTLY, whatever the nice physique of a 35-40 year old woman.
-
He is a great man who can give a woman that sense of security she needs during her various stage of life…you know the type of man who will stick to his woman wether she adds 40 lbs or lose 20 lbs and worship her because she has a good soul.
-
I don’t see Tom Cruise or others sticking to their woman if she can’t keep it up physically.
-
Brad is a beautiful human being with a beautiful soul. They are rare !

What happened to Brad?? Hugh Jackman looks a lot better. Actually hugh has aged better.

______

I work at an FBO.
In late 2007, a group with Hugh Jackman rented one of our A/C.

What I saw:
Hugh is tall and very lean AND his facial wrinkles are unbelievable!
The wrinkles around his eyes, mouth and his forehead were deep.
When he smiled (he was very gracious), it was even worse.
We couldn’t believe he looked like that.

Hugh was born in 1968 - which makes him 40 years old.
__

I’ve never seen Brad Pitt in person so I don’t know.
But Brad is 5 years OLDER than Hugh.
