OlderKate Gosselin Has Eight Disney Kids
Kate Gosselin, star of the TLC hit reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, recently opened up to Star at P&G’s brandSAVER Live! event.
Here’s what the mother of twins (8-year-old Cara and Mady) and sextuplets (4-year-old Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, Leah and Collin) had to say:
What kind of TV do they watch? “They’re Disney kids. And to be honest, our show is their favorite thing. They ask to watch it all the time. It’s interesting. It’s like them watching their memories.”
Do the kids know that they’re celebrities? “They don’t understand it. To them, it’s their normal. They’ve been filming since they were 15-months-old and they don’t know any different. And I’ve taught them — and at 4 they understand — that if people are taking pictures, and it bothers you, just say, ‘No, thank you’ and turn your back.”
Do you enjoy doing the show? “The blessings are we get to work from home, we’re there with them. We get to travel. There’s so many experiences that we wouldn’t otherwise have. I feel like it’s making them so well-rounded.”
New episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8 airs on TLC on Mondays at 9PM ET/PT.

These people aren’t trying to tell you how to live your life or be superior to you, so stop ranting like someone who has a chip on their shoulder. Also, stop telling people to do their research, we waste enough time writing on blogs without you trying to get us to indulge in more mindless foolishness.

People who put there kids in films and movies plays and living off there kids money. Atleast these kids get to live their lives. I pretty sure if you were offer a show you would take it, so give it a rest. The only think i dont like is how she talks to her husband but if he dont mind why should i

No. its not JUST a tv show. to us, yes its a family that america likes to watch.. to those eight children it is there lives. I used to love that show..but now i can honestly say i do not watch it because i find it disgusting… how would you feel if all of that embarrassing home footage was on tv for all of america to see? Having cameras around them constantly..these babies did not ask for that!! Talk about pimping out suri cruise or some child like that..these parents are honestly pimping out their children for money. they are making a living off the abnormal circumstances of their children. UGH its disgusting.
I’ve tried to watch this boring garbage and every time I am shocked at the verbal abuse this wife gives her husband. I can’t believe he renewed his vows with her. It had to have been for the money cuse any self respecting person would leave a spouse like her.
Mary, I don’t understand why you are so “up in arms” about this TV show!! I’m confused. What business is it of yours what they do or how they do it. IT’S JUST A TV SHOW!!! TLC doesn’t seem to mind paying them because the show is a big hit and I assure you TLC is loving every minute of it and they don’t care how much money they have to shell out for trips, cooks, maids or whatever!! It’s TV and millions are watching. What’s the problem??
P.S.: I’ve only seen a couple of episodes because all those kiddies make me nervous!!! So, I turned it off. I suggest you do the same. Okay??
I think she is sooo mean to her husband! I have only seen it once on holiday (I do not think it is in UK yet, not that I care) and I was thinking, why does he put up with that? She is so condescending to him. Yeah, free ride. Why does the tv company not offer to feed needy children or match whatever they spend on that family for another whole bunch of kids who need it????
As a retired educator, I can see some problems for the children in the future. I believe Maddy’s behavior is her way of saying, “No more!” They are always being filmed and taken everywhere with a crisis looming. Can you imagine living your life with a camera watching your every move? I have watched this show and believe it is cute…but I am questioning the MANY excursions the children are taking now. The youngest won’t remember the experiences except through the media’s eyes. We have child labor laws for a reason…makes me wonder how much time in the week the children are “filming.” When do they have private time? I foresee difficulties for these sweet ones in their future.
Kate’s attitude toward her husband is demeaning. The children see this. Kate is OCD is many ways. It is her way or the highway. Her constant need to have the children clean and sweep the floor “six times a day” is unhealthy. At least the children will be starting school soon and can hopefully gain some time away from the prying eyes of the cameras and just be a KID.
To the people that think the show is a scam, she has been doing the show for 2 years. You know the reason they go on “free” trips is because the producer sets up story lines and basically gives the Gosselins a schedule of what they set up. Otherwise, the camera crew would tape the kids at home and the audience watching them would be bored after a few episodes. Of course they get products free…they have 8 kids! I have never heard them whine about money and their home and cars are very modest. John did have a job….not sure if he does now. Yes, he gets told what t do a lot by Kate beause he is laid back and Kate is the organizer. They balance each other out….he doesn’t take initial responsibility like he does so he has to be told. The reason they brought cameras into their home is because people are curious how they live and rightfully so…I think they do a great job raising their children…no one knows how you would act if you had 8 children very close in age!

Mary you just a hater. I know the Roloffs work. They have farm and sell pumpkins/peaches plus he has a step stool business. I’m not stupid, I watch it too. I just think you’re a lil trouble maker troll, trolling around causing trouble and posting things about people you don’t like and nit picking stuff just b/c you have nothing else to do. And of course they need more money, they have more kids!! The Roloffs only have 4 and Jon/Kate have 8. And they haven’t pushed away some of their family. They show what they tape just b/c it doesn’t show them as often doesn’t mean they pushed them away. Jodi has her own family to tend to. Sheesh!!! And when have you ever seen a freakin chef on their show in their home? Uh never, Kate prepares all the food and once in a while Jon does too. And for god says, they are not pimpin their children out!! America wanted to see what i was like to have a big family and that’s why they did the show.
Mary, I agree with what you’re saying. I used to be a big fan but started to hear some disturbing stories and did a little research. I realized that they were totally different than what they were portraying themselves to be and they seem to put their children’s welfare on the back burner. I know that the state was supposedly investigating whether it was legal for the children to “work” as many hours as they do. And people can say what they will but both Kate and Jon are college educated and should be able to be gainfully employed. Keep doing your work and getting the word out because it’s not about entertainment it is about the growth and development of these children who are treated like circus freaks and meal tickets.

I love this show! Kids are all cute!
Large families are great and there are lots of us out there. I have 5 kids. What bothers me is that Kate acts like she is the only Mom out there that has 8 kids. Give me a break. My sister in-law has 8 kids is an attorney and never fusses or tries to get attention.
Kate likes the attention. She thinks its hard now. … what a joke - this stage is a piece of cake. I want to see their household in 5-10 years when they are all trying to do reports, apply for college, take drivers ed etc. That is where the money really adds up. Enjoy it while you can. Its a cakewalk compared to later. Ps - not cool to profit off of kids.

I don’t get why a TV station would still continue with them in this economic situation. What have they done anyway, to “deserve” a show? Nothing.
Kate’s sense of entitlement gets on my nerves, and I wonder how many of the kids will need therapy sooner or later , who will end up doing drugs, with an early teen pregnancy. Who will pay if something goes wrong, TV or the parents who did this to them?

Ok, I have been watching the show for a long time and want to put in my 2 cents. I know these two people love their children, they are good parents. BUT…they are totally making a living off of their children and it is so sad only because the kids don’t have any say in this situation. I agree with a former post that the beginning of the show was fun to watch but with each passing episode, it became clear that Kate (I don’t think Jon so much…but he is at fault because he doesn’t say anything) is a con artist. I am not saying anything about how she raises her children, but she herself is just a terrible person. She berates Jon all the time and can not take responsibility for her actions or words. This is a woman who saw the kindness of others when she first had her sextuples and took complete advantage of it. It never ended and now here we are with her and her husband living off of their little money makers. Prime example of her character…she gets offered a free tummy tuck by a kind-hearted woman and her dr. husband. Kate takes them up on it, as anyone would who would want a tummy tuck but couldn’t afford it, and what does she do when she gets to the office? She asks the dr. to look at her breasts too because she wants them lifted!!! You could see the astonishment on the dr.’s face in that episode. He tells her her breasts are fine and to buy a new bra and that she should be happy with the fact she is getting the operation alone. She was offered a free operation and she STILL tries to rake more out of the situation. Just like everything else. Nuff said.
What upsets me about this couple is how they lounge around claiming they can “work from home now” because of the show. Look at the Roloff’s. These are two little people who have to struggle every single day yet they work and even volunteer to help out others. They make money off the show and get free trips just like the Gosslins’ but they also contribute to society in addition to the show. Even on the other show with the 18 children, the dad owns properties and you see the older children help out with the rental properties. The work and do not lounge around all day. Kate is basically like one of those moms who want to push their kids into show business so the kids can make money and the mom can “manage” their careers…control freak who can’t do anything for herself (like filling up the gas in the car) but wants everyone else, including her children, to work for her.
The show has turned from a show about how to raise twins and sextuplets to a sitcom and the children and parents are now “celebrities”. These kids know nothing else but having cameras shoved in their face all day long. I know Kate has said because of the show they have memories but they could have made memories themselves with a simple camcorder.
mary shut up. get a life. find a hobby other then ranting about jon and kate. obviously you have too much time going back and forth checking peoples comment. if you have kids, go feed them, go do the laundry, bake some cookies and shut up. hahaha.

I want to make a comment about Jon. I like him and think he is a GREAT father. I can’t stand how Kate treats him as if he can’t do anything right. If Kate left, those kids would be well taken care of and loved by their dad. Jon is equally good at diciplining and being sensitive and responsible. That is what a great dad is about. The only thing that is not great about him is how he doesn’t stand up for himself. If only Kate had someone yell at her and not do what she wanted from time to time, she would think twice about her tendency to control.
I ranted before about Kate but wanted to make it clear that I think Jon being their dad is probably the only way these kids will have a normal life.
The show is great and the kids are so cute!
Love the show and especially love the kids. Who gives a rats ass if they get “perks.” Unless you’ve walked in their shoes, you shouldn’t judge.
