Kate Gosselin Has Eight Disney Kids
Kate Gosselin, star of the TLC hit reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, recently opened up to Star at P&G’s brandSAVER Live! event.
Here’s what the mother of twins (8-year-old Cara and Mady) and sextuplets (4-year-old Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, Leah and Collin) had to say:
What kind of TV do they watch? “They’re Disney kids. And to be honest, our show is their favorite thing. They ask to watch it all the time. It’s interesting. It’s like them watching their memories.”
Do the kids know that they’re celebrities? “They don’t understand it. To them, it’s their normal. They’ve been filming since they were 15-months-old and they don’t know any different. And I’ve taught them — and at 4 they understand — that if people are taking pictures, and it bothers you, just say, ‘No, thank you’ and turn your back.”
Do you enjoy doing the show? “The blessings are we get to work from home, we’re there with them. We get to travel. There’s so many experiences that we wouldn’t otherwise have. I feel like it’s making them so well-rounded.”
New episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8 airs on TLC on Mondays at 9PM ET/PT.

MY MOM HAD 11 CHILDREN! THE LAST TWO ARE TWINS! MY MOM & DAD NEVER GOT ASSISTANCE OR A TV SHOW!
OH MY! MADDY IS A REAL PAIN IN THE A$$~ I’M JUST WATCHING THE EPISODE OF THEM GOING TO UTAH AND SHE’S HAVING HER NORMAL MELTDOWNS! LOL. KID HAS SERIOUS ISSUES!!!!
this show was facinating to watch at first but bores me now
I agree with Mary. At first the show was very entertaining and it looked like thier real life but now it just looks they are going around promoting the places they go. Jon even stated that the deal is that they get free trips if they talk about the places they stay. Its just so predictable now. Its a celebirty thing now. and someone said that the people regularly seen in the begining are not seen anymore and that is true. I dont see beth or carla anymore or beverly the lady that folds laundry
Jodi, you are one crazy bi&?!. i am scared for your children. maybe you should worry a little less about the gosselins and a little more about yours.
oh, and stop referring to yourself as “aunt jodi.” you’re making a mockery of yourself. gotta go get my jon & kate dvd as a christmas gift for my friends. we are all huge fans.
Just watched the episode where they take the kids to Toys R Us to pick out presents for each other and I felt so bad for Jon! Kate was yelling at him in the store in front of everybody and he got embarrassed. He said later that it hurt him because it makes her look horrible and he knows she’s better than that. Kate just gave a half assed “sorry” and said she doesn’t notice other people. I just felt really bad for him.
The are totally living off the their children. Why or why did Jon need free hair plugs???? And Kate being offered a free tummy tuck (which I get after sextuplets) tries to up the ante by requesting a boob lift - give me a break. All the free stuff they get comes with a company plug - just watch its so blatant its gross. The kids are cute, minus the obnoxious one Maddy, but it can’t be healthy to have a camera in your face 24/7 and they are too young to make decisions about what is good or bad for themselves, that’s what their parents are supposed to do. Does Jon still work? Kate is a self-righteous ***** who treats her husband like crap and thinks she’s got the market cornered on child rearing.
I agree with those who say that the show has lost some of its charm. I have pretty much been watching from the beginning and I still mostly do. But it isn’t the same anymore. It used to portray a regular family with all of its flaws and normalcy. Kate wore Mom clothes and didn’t worry about her hair. Now almost every episode is about taking trips and Kate always looks “on” and the kids wear nice clothes that always look new to me. Take last night’s episode. Yes, it showed the importance of giving back by buying toys for children suffering from diseases at St. Jude’s Hospital and that is GREAT. BUT they also managed to tuck into the hour long episode a sneak peek at the movie Tale of Despereaux and Kate happened to be reading that book to the kids. Ridiculous to think that 4 year olds would be into a chapter book. We all know that they were offered money to show the book on the show and to allow the clip of the movie. I think that it is sad that they have allowed their “celebrity” to turn their heads and change them into different people.
I can’t stand reality shows but every week I look forward to this one.
You know, some of you should really listen to Mary because she is 100 percent right. I have family from the same county as Jon & Kate in Pennsylvania, and the Gosselin family is regarded as the local scam. Pennsylvania residents couldn’t be more sick of these two, always with their hands out begging for more.
There is nothing wrong with doing a reality show and reaping the benefits of it, but lying about your financial health and stability under the guise of 8 innocent children is absolutely wrong. These two are dishonest and misleading people who are in actual financial need to give to them! It is absolutely disgusting and atrocious that two people would exploit the charity of others and organizations for their own greed.
Jon and Kate are extremely well off at this point, but they continue to operate under the guise of being in need. Please, it makes me nauseous. This holiday season I even tried to avoid purchasing things from their sponsors such as Gap, VTech, etc.
The corporate sponsors of this circus show should be blamed for partaking in this level of product placement and branding. Kate Gosselin has become a brand herself between the show, books, recipes, and all the other crap they push through Jon & Kate. It is a fascinating business model, but surely not healthy for the development of 8 small children! Very odd situation indeed.
If you lived in Pennsylvania, then Jon & Kate could actually be affecting your lives. You see, when Kate Gosselin plopped those kids out of her mighty ute, the state of Pennsylvania gave her a nurse funded by tax dollars in order to help her care for them during their first year of life. I find this completely reasonable as I am sure that we can all agree, one woman taking care of six children while her husband works is quite the task.
The state stipulated that they would give the Gosselins the state funded nurse for one year. Upon the one year expiring, all 6 children were miraculously healthy and doing very well in terms of health. The state determined that the Gosselins no longer needed the free nurse.
The Gosselins then proceeded to appeal the case in court stating that, “Society provides fertility treatment to women, therefore society should bear the burden of helping these women when they are in need.” Kate Gosselin is like a lot of people I know, they feel they are entitled to things simply because of their situation. Wake up, no one forced this woman to have six children, so no one but her and her husband should bear the grunt of raising them.
The Gosselins had plenty of help from different corporations - stroller companies, diaper companies, formula companies, clothing companies, etc. They got everything they needed for those children for free (even before their crazy show), yet they still continue to put their hands out asking for more. How would you like it if your tax dollars went to fund two lazy, greedy, LIARS when they could have went to someone in actual need?!
I have a huge problem with people going on speaking engagements and taking money from those less fortunate than themselves under the guise of charity. Talk about the ultimate display of sin and greed. For the sake of their children, I can’t wait until they reach that awkward age where kids become bratty and less cute. Then their gravy train will be derailed and they might actually have to work some legitimate jobs. Kate Gosselin’s legacy will be a child labor law protecting children on realty shows, just watch. Those kids are going to be developmentally screwed down the line.
5 bucks says all these crazy comments are from one person :-P
This family is taking advantage of their situation while they have it, and soon enough those kids aren’t gonna be as cute and interesting enough to have their own series. The lil ones aren’t going to remember most of this anyway.
I watch the show, I don’t think Kate (or her oldest child John) are particularly good parents, but I’m not going to start an e-fight over a silly tv show!
These people are such con-artist and if you can’t see it either you are blind or you don’t know the back story on these guys. I suggest you do some research from the beginning, back when she was preg. and I think you will see why there are so many people not buying this whole J&K situation. It is so horrible what they have done to the poor grandparents, other relatives and close friends.
I fully agree with Mary and others who say enough is enough. I have been a fan of the show for a long time. Recently, after reading numerous boards and articles, I took another look. There is a huge change in the first few shows to now. In the beginning, it was about the cute little kids ans their daily routine. Now each episode centers on Kate and her puppet Jon. No longer are they the sweet little family who captures all our hearts, but they are now the family who always wants more, more, more. They are having a huge multi-million dollar home being bulit in NC for free, with all new free furniture and appliances. Free trips, surgical procedures and chefs are just the tip of the iceberg. What started off as a glimps in the lives of these beautiful children has gone horribly and greedily wrong! I used to feel sorry for Jon, but now I dislike him as much as I do Kate. The yard sale episode and the children’s hospital episode furthers proves their storylines are made up. Jon and Kate do not have jobs and take any handout given to them. I can understand that they get paid for the show and think they should. I also think that the occasional trip is ok. But the constant promotion of this resort and that spa is enough. Product placement at its best makes this one big tv commercial. Bring back the original show that gives a glimpse into “normal” lives and take away the mooch fest and I will watch again.
i have enjoyed the show before but i am losing interest in it, maybe because the children are getting older. if they did try and get government money (post 62) shame on them! nobody forces a person to take fertility treatments and i disagree with taxpayers having to subsidize them in any way, shape, or form. i knew that kate stopped being a nurse to take care of the children, but i thought jon had a job?
Time will tell. One day all of the “perks” and constant flow of money from “TLC” will end & the family will live with what they have & what they’ve made of themselves. Those children will grow up one day & they will be able to voice their own opinions on all of this. They are too young right now to even understand any of what is going on. True no one is perfect & no one has all of the answers to parent one child much less 8. Not judging. I truly hope that all of this constant early exposure of these young children to the world won’t be a negative thing for them in their adult lives. I hope that the decision to continue after the first initial shows was a healthy one for the family and not just based on the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
One day each of those 8 little ones will be adults in their own right and then we will see, hear how this show changed their lives.
Like I said no one is perfect and no one is a perfect parent. Unless we’ve walked in their shoes and been exposed to what they’ve been exposed to we can’t know what wil happen once the fame goes away—and it will.
i absolutely adore john and kate and there children. There kids are just soo adorable. yeah mady may be a bit bratty a times but what 8 year old isnt. its ridiculous that you even have to say anything rude about an 8 year old.. grow up. im such a big fan of the show. kate is an amazing mom and john is such a great father. they’re doing there absolute best at raising there kids. if you dont like the show well turn the channel its that easy. people who honestly come on here and have nothing nice to say is obviously jealous and wish that they had this opportunity. anyways i love ur show and i hope ur on for many many more years..=]
You know these folks are getting a free ride, I only wish that I could take my daughter to Hawaii for free. Better yet even to be able to spend time with her, with working all the time to support the both of us. I am a single parent and my husband left when I was 4 weeks pregnant, he could not handle the stress of my employment or a new baby coming. I believe his fear was being a single parent if anything ever happend to me. I am gone 12 months out of the year with 12 month out of harms way. So to Kate and Jon cherish your children’s private lives and chill out on all the free goodies and give it to the family’s that have nothing. The families that have their homes taken away or the children that have lost their parents. Don’t be so greedy, you are setting a bad example for the children.
Does anybody know what TLC pays them????? Just curious, I could make a reality show if TLC is interested, call it 4 after 40!!!!! Come on, I would love to get paid for being a mom once in awhile in cash. And I would stay in my small house in a bean field in North Carolina, because NOTHING is going to change our lives like some.
oh yeah, the maddie kid is warped!
I hope you know there are kids watching this show. My kids always call it Mommy & Daddy show. They are only 4 & 2.
Mary, Mary, Mary….you have way to much time on your hands! You must watch every episode in order to make your comments. IT’S ONLY A TV SHOW! I love the show and I say Go Gosselin’s!
HI,MY NAME IS SYDNEY IT WOULD BE NICE IF EVERYONE COULD STOP SAYING MEAN THINGS ABOUT THIER SHOW I’M ABOUT TO TURN 10 AND LOVE THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems like Jon and Kate are reading all the articles about them, and are trying to do damage control. Kate made a statement about people not thinking they are really working. She said she has to laugh at these comments. She said they are doing a lot of public relations work and writing a new book, and this is considered hard work. Well Kate, the comments are true and you trying to do damage control will not change my opinion of you. I mean about the episode of the yard sale, and the trip to Tennessee to help the children at St. Judes.. Who was donating the toys, the Gosselins or Walmart. This is too little, too late. It is true about your children being exploited. The way the economy is nowdays, you moving to a $1.3 million house will be nothing but a disaster. The house and yard look very deserted. There will probably be no other children to play with. This is not a good situation. When the show is cancelled, I doubt that this mini mansion will be able to be maintaned. All the numerous free trips will be cut off too. This will impact the children, who probably think they are entitled to these trips. There will be a lot of trouble in the future.
